For the first time in the history of the Investec Derby , the role has been accepted by a celebrity from the world of fashion.

Over the last two decades, British Supermodel Erin O’Connor has forged a successful career in modelling having gracing some of the world’s most iconic catwalks, dressed in designer clothing from some of the world’s top fashion designers.

Renowned for her classic English beauty and elegance, Erin also harbours an enthusiasm for horseracing, making her the perfect candidate for this year’s role of promoting the Investec Derby Festival.

The Investec Derby takes place on the first Saturday in June each year, and is the very first event of the summer social calendar setting the standard for the entire season.

Erin will join the throngs of glamorous ladies, spending weeks deciding on what to wear before flocking to Surrey Downs, dressed to the nines for Investec Ladies Day on Friday 3rd June. Despite the array of colours and styles on display, Erin is sure to stand out in the crowd, modelling a dramatic creation by the Official Investec Derby milliner, Louis Mariette whose creation will be unveiled in April this year.

Commenting on her role, Erin said: “I was honoured to be asked to be the Official Face of the Investec Derby Festival. Being part of such an historic event, and one associated with this level of glamour and high-fashion , is incredibly exciting and I am sure that I will enjoy every minute of my involvement. Dressing up for a day at the races brings a real sense of occasion to the day and it also helps that I enjoy the occasional flutter.”
