GCN Canada Inc. Launches Investment Drive for Free Zone Project in Cameroon

After four and a half years spent in design and development, Africa will soon boast the first combined financial and tourism free zone ever developed on that continent. The project, known as the EMERALD COAST FINANCIAL AND TOURISM FREE ZONE PROJECT, will be built in the Republic of Cameroon in its designated Strategic Economic Development Zone on the coast near the port city of Limbe.

The project is a joint-venture between Ottawa-based consortium GCN Canada Inc. (GCN-C), and Bonanza Estates SA (BE SA) of Limbe. The Project was conceptualized and designed by GCN-C, and utilizes the Free Zone License granted to BE SA for the development of a jointly-owned 311-hectare parcel of land with almost 2 km of private beach located some 20 km north of Limbe.

Full build-out of the Project is estimated to cost some US$ 3.5 Billion, and will take 7-8 years to complete. During and after its construction, the Project is expected to create employment for up to 10,000 people directly and indirectly as a result of its development. Understandably, its start-up is being keenly anticipated by the Government of Cameroon, as its impact on employment and general development in the area, and the draw it will create for additional investment in the country is expected to be enormous.

President and CEO of GCN-C, His Excellency Robert Sabga, says “The Emerald Coast Project is going to fundamentally alter the way the rest of the world looks at Africa, and is going to meaningfully impact for the better on the lives and welfare of thousands of people. It is going to change lives, it is going to change Cameroon, and it is going to change the continent of Africa as never before.”

In planning and conceptualizing the Project, HE Sabga assembled a global team of professionals drawn from four continents, all proven experts in their respective fields. GCN-C’s professional lineup includes some impressive members: a former Rear Admiral, a retired Air Force Captain, a Sheikh, a retired senior banker, an African Prince, and another former Ambassador (HE Sabga is himself a former Ambassador, having served as the High Commissioner for the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago to Canada). The architectural firm selected to design the Project is Sadek Architects SRL of Dubai, famous for the ‘sea urchin’ design for the King’s Park Stadium in Durban S.A., designed for the 2010 World Cup Games, and for a host of resort and hotel designs throughout the Middle East, Europe and North America.

The Emerald Coast Project will feature a host of amenities that will position it as unique in both concept and function. It will operate as a financial free zone, offering full off-shore banking and wealth management services. It will feature an ultra-secure underground vault complex built into a mountainside for the safe-keeping of hard assets such as bullion and other valuables. It will offer 3- 4- and 5-star hotels and villas, a private marina, boardwalk with restaurants and duty free shopping, a world-class golf course, a casino complex, and a private airport and marina, to name a few of its numerous features.

GCN-C is now ready to break ground on the Project, and is currently seeking interested Investors and potential JV partners.

Best Hydraulic Oils for Excavating Equipment

November 21, 2010 – Excavation has been carried out for many centuries. Earlier excavation meant manually digging the soil to find treasure under it. Excavation then was used for the purpose of constructions. The method of breaking up the soil is excavating. This most of the time causes a lot of damage to the underground utilities because of the traditional excavation processes.

Today, thanks to modern technology, the introduction of the hydro excavation method has surpassed all other methods. This excavating method is safe and non-destructive since it uses industrial growth vacuums and high pressure water to break up the soil using surgical precision. The debris thus collected is collected in a debris tank using vacuums.

The hydraulic excavation equipment uses water when breaking up the soil thus reducing the risk of utility damage. This type of excavation is also known as hydro-vac excavation, vacuum excavation, potholing and also day lighting.

This method of excavating and clearing debris has spread its wings from Canada to the U.S. in the recent years showing excess growth in the use of excavating equipment. This modern technology is welcomed by demolition and construction engineers because of its fast and accurate method of digging into the soil and uncovering utility pipes or even digging holes.

The benefits of using this excavating equipment are safety, speed and hygienic methods. However the chief benefit is the low insurance costs that contractors enjoy. TGMS Sports Turf Consultancy and Pitch Drainage Specialists

TGMS – the leading sports turf consultancy practice – are now at the top of their game having recently announced the acquisition of their brand new GPS, the Leica Viva GPS. This enables the company to utilise all available satellite systems when they are out in the field and take advantage of Smartnet correction service. This in turn allows them to work to the Ordinance Survey National Grid, whether they are working on sports pitch drainage , football pitch construction or even if they are working on a synthetic sports pitch.

Speaking exclusively about TGMS’s new acquisition Oliver Munro, surveyor and field engineer for TGMS he said:

“I am extremely happy with the new GPS equipment. This not only ensures that we can continue to provide our existing services, but we can now also offer additional services such as setting out a site for re-grading, setting out pitch locations and as built surveys.”

In other news, Dr Richard Earl, Managing Director of Tgms Ltd, has written an article which appears in this month’s Sports Management Magazine, titled “Pitch design from the inside out”. In an age where sports turf is used for all sorts of events such as concerts and festivals, it’s crucial that the best care and attention is being paid in order to sustain the quality of turf for its primary needs.

Dr Earl says: “Creating an environment within which turf will thrive is crucial to long-term sustainability. The application of science and engineering to the design and construction of natural turf facilities has a lot to offer the industry. However, long-established, basic principles are often ignored.”

He goes on to explain his thoughts in detail, which can be read here: http://www.tgms.co.uk/uploads/documents/Sports%20Management%20-%20Pitch%20design%20from%20the%20inside%20out.pdf

The Metal Building Outlet Has Started Bidding Wars in Steel Building Quotes

Littleton, Colorado (October 30, 2010) – The Metal Building Outlet of Littleton Colorado has been accused of starting bidding wars between metal and steel building manufacturers. Their unique business model has manufacturers scrambling to re-figure quotes.

The Metal Building Outlet has taken their knowledge of a slower economy and market competition to create opportunity for their clients and manufacturers. By allowing companies to compete for their client’s business the manufacturers fill up empty slots in their schedules, while clients get highly discounted buildings.

When you combine the already lower price of steel buildings compared to traditional structures, along with the deep discounts Metal Building Outlet receives, the cost savings to clients can exceed 50%. This allows many churches, schools, and businesses to proceed with building projects they had put on hold.

Price is not the only concern of the Metal Building Outlet. With years of experience in the steel building industry they ensure their clients only receive quotes from companies who meet the highest standards and are professionally recognized by top building agencies. They work with their clients to meet all local building codes and regulations.

Where many steel building contractors deal only with smaller structures, the Metal Building Outlet works with structures from small storage sheds, large barns, churches, industrial buildings, and even large aircraft hangars.

One of the greatest benefits enjoyed by their clients is the speed of construction. A steel building can be built in a fraction of the time of traditional wood or brick construction. With all the components being prefabricated and ready for assembly when it arrives on site the contractor’s job is simplified saving on cost and time.

Steel buildings are designed strong and constructed to last. This is not the same type of construction you find in small flimsy storage sheds, but is the same powerful construction you find in large factories and schools. The structures can be insulated to provide equal or superior energy efficiency to other traditional structures. With the proper doors, windows, and metal building accessories a metal building has great curb appeal.

The bidding wars which the Metal Building Outlet has started ends up being a win-win situation for both their clients and their numerous manufacturing partners. With the volume of business they provide the lowest prices possible to clients and help manufacturers in keeping their employees busy. The perfect arrangement for everyone.
