Diva De Lai Reveal New Innovative Bob Dylan Tribute Rock Opera Album, Dylan at the Opera To Be Released October 22nd, 2013

Listen to Single Señor (Tales of Yankee Power) on Soundcloud (https://soundcloud.com/divadelai/se-or-tales-of-yankee-power)

Hollywood, CA, October 22, 2013 – Diva de Lai is coming on to the new music scene as an innovative band that is looking to mix two unique styles, Rock and Opera. Dylan at the Opera is a concept album composed of original Bob Dylan songs rearranged in different rock styles with operatic vocals and represents their latest release.

Yuval Nachtom, drummer and founder of Diva de Lai, created the concept and vision for the unique sound. Together with guitarist Eyal Sucher, who arranged the album, worked as a team on the music production.

A well-rounded band, Diva de Lai is comprised of Yuval Nachtom who also holds a PhD in economics, Grammy-nominated bassist and producer Yossi Fine, Eyal Sucher, who holds a Masters degree in music, specializing in orchestra conducting, plays guitar and keyboard with mezzo-soprano and leading classical singer, Karin Shifrin as their front-woman.

Señor (Tales of Yankee Power), the first single, was written by Dylan in the 1970’s and is a dark and depressing song that at the time was not understood. Though the original is simple, the lyric-heavy folk song was perfectly translated into a dramatic rock, opera sound that Shifrin captures in the cover.

With her powerful delivery throughout the song, Shifrin executes the song’s messages on point. “Señor is about lack of hope, the rule of a tyrant, cruelty, lost love and maybe looking for an answer in a heavenly entity,” Nachtom states.

“If we imagine that Señor is the name or nick name of a woman, then one can see here a dirge for a lost love – for a woman who walked away. The color of the lyrics and the melody present a challenge and are a natural basis for hard-core opera.”

Dylan at the Opera is set to be released on October 22nd with 12 tracks to look forward to. Diva de Lai kept the classic Bob Dylan while providing their own creative spin to an original concept album.

Rubrics Assessment Capability Saves Faculty Time and Enables Institutions to Aggregate Direct Evidence of Student Learning

ExamSoft’s revolutionary rubrics assessment solution unites objective and subjective assessment in a single platform designed to provide a consistent and comprehensive framework for giving students actionable feedback on all assignments

Dallas, Texas, October 21, 2013 – ExamSoft, the leading provider of intelligent embedded assessment solutions, today announced a new rubrics assessment platform available for the 2014 Spring Semester. The new solution, which is currently in limited release to clients, is an easy-to-use tool for capturing assessment data on subjective student work such as essays, OSCEs, papers, presentations, and class participation. The addition of rubrics to ExamSoft’s entire suite of software, will provide clients a consolidated and comprehensive picture of each student’s performance, regardless of the assessment type or delivery method.

Students crave interaction and engagement, and faculty members want to help them learn. Previously, ExamSoft offered ways for faculty to engage students with detailed feedback data based on results from objectively scored assessments. Now, rubrics will enable faculty members to close the feedback loop with students by providing clear and actionable direction around subjective assignments and assessments students submit for grading. The clarity made possible by rubrics provides a format within which faculty and students can communicate and collaborate with each other and peers about students’ learning progress in a structured way.

“Presently we are tracking student progression on learning outcomes throughout the didactic curriculum assessed through traditional exams,” Dr. Jane Souza, an Assistant Dean of Assessment at St. John Fisher College, said. “With the introduction of rubrics, we will soon be able to document student achievement on performance-based assessments which include counseling sessions, oral presentations, and formal papers. The collective data will provide us a more complete view of student progress.”

With the added functionality, faculty members will be able to create templates for rubrics, which will cut down on time required to recreate new rubrics for each assessment and give faculty members the ability to easily share rubrics across departments and the institution. Faculty will also be able to share rubrics with students in advance of an assignment and conduct complex grading strategies, such as anonymous grading and consistent peer or TA grading. Finally, the new functionality will enable faculty to run comprehensive analytics reports of student learning filtered by student, class, or course—all with one click. Aggregating student, course, and program by learning objectives, helps all institutional stakeholders, without placing any additional burden on faculty.

“Faculty and institutions are being asked to do more with less. They are being asked to both prove and improve student learning at a level of unprecedented granularity,” said Daniel Muzquiz, CEO of ExamSoft. “We are hearing from universities that they want solutions that leverage existing assessment efforts in a pragmatic way. Our rubrics solution is purpose-built to make it easy for faculty to capture the metadata, using an automated system, needed to generate real-time learning analytics, while keeping their current assessment processes stable. Real-time data empower faculty to intervene earlier to help current students and faculty achieve their goals.”

ExamSoft is used by over 500 clients and the new rubrics functionality is now available in limited capacity to existing customers. Current ExamSoft users can send an email to rubrics@examsoft.com to learn more. A webinar will be held on Wednesday, October 23 at 3 pm ET to learn about how ExamSoft’s new rubrics functionality was designed for faculty, by faculty, and discover how St. John Fisher College plans to use rubrics to develop a comprehensive picture of student learning and their curriculum. Register for the webinar at http://learn.examsoft.com/webinar/rubrics-launch.

“This is an exciting next step in ExamSoft’s evolution because rubrics add a powerful dimension to embedded assessment. Hundreds of faculty members at our client institutions have worked with us to create a sophisticated, elegant way to harness the data and insights from subjective assessments in an easy-to-use platform,” Muzquiz said. “We’re not only committed to creating a solution that works well, but also to listening and responding to the needs of those who strive to improve the teaching and learning experience.”

The rubrics assessment solution is planned to be widely available in January 2014. More information about rubrics can be found at learn.examsoft.com/rubrics

Santerno Introduces New PV Power Plant Controller that Provides Single Point of Control at Solar Power International

New Power Plant Controller Reduces Cost of PV System Management By Eliminating Need for Multiple Controllers and Includes Self-tuning POI to Accommodate International Grid Codes.

Chicago, USA (October 21, 2013) — At Solar Power International this week, Santerno, the Carraro Group company that specializes in alternative energy electronics and industrial automation, will display its new Santerno PV Power Plant Controller (PPC). The Santerno PPC is a utility-scale solar power system controller that consolidates management of photovoltaic (PV) power plants, providing a single point of integrated control and monitoring.

Santerno developed its own power plant controller in order to reduce costs and expand management capability and control for its utility PV customers. The Santerno PPC is a complete control solution that provides a single access point for the plant supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) control systems, including all PV inverters, the data logger, and auxiliary services. This eliminates the need to integrate a separate management system for the solar power inverters.

The Santerno PPC also provides a single, self-tuned, modified proportional internal (PI) controller which operates at the plant level to make sure all the inverters match power grid code requirements. Unlike other systems, the Santerno PPC does not require the trial-and-error approach typically used to match standard PI regulators. The power parameters are set in advance using the plant data and the electrical characteristic data for the Point of Interconnection (POI) so it automatically matches international grid code requirements.

“As an engineering-oriented company, we are always working to develop new technology that solves our customers’ needs and delivers the highest return on investment. By developing our own Power Plant Controller we are able to consolidate management of Santerno solar inverters with other plant monitoring and SCADA systems into a single interface,” said Franco Valentini, Marketing Director of Santerno. “When you add in support from our online Web management portal, you have a complete controller solution, including remote monitoring.”

The Santerno PPC can be configured for most grid operator protocols, and is compliant with European and worldwide standards, field programmable according to local regulations. It also can be optionally configured to control static VAR compensator (SVC) or static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) at the Point of Interconnections (POI). This enables the PV plant for Extended Power Capability or Flexible AC Transmission System functions. It also has Digital Control Functions, including closed loop active power curtailment, closed look reactive power control, closed-loop POI voltage control, and P(f) curtailment control.

Santerno is displaying its new PPC at Solar Power International, booth 746. For more information, visit http://www.santerno.com.

Impact of Wearable Computing on Technology Marketplace at Golden Networking’s New York Conference

Building off of the momentum of past successful conferences, Golden Networking brings Wearable Computing Conference 2013 New York City (www.wearable-computing-conference.com), “Revolutionizing the Human Experience Through Next-Generation Technology”, November 7.

New York City, NY, USA (October 19, 2013) — Wearable technology is a recent development that seeks to change the outlook of the population for a new way to interact with the world, in addition to the more classical options of using a mechanical watch or large-screen computers. Wearable computing a fad? What are the long term effects of a transition to wearable technology? How will more traditional competitors be impacted and how upcoming technology wars will influence wearable computing widespread adoption?

These and other questions will be debated at Golden Networking’s Wearable Computing Conference 2013 (http://www.wearable-computing-conference.com), “Revolutionizing the Human Experience Through Next-Generation Technology”, to be held in New York City, on November 7, by a team of authorities in the field:

– Cosmin Laslau, Analyst, Lux Research
– Dirk Schapeler, Chief Executive Office, ViviTouch

– Rob Rueckert, Managing Director, New Devices and Wearables Group, Intel Capital
– Scott N. Schober, President and CEO, Berkeley Varitronics Systems
– Sonny Vu, Founder, Misfit Wearables

The history of wearable technology is influenced by both of these responses to the vision of ubiquitous computing. We are now at an inflexion point in the advancement of the adoption of wearable computing. To expand the market for wearable technologies, it is necessary for developers and manufacturers to lead the world to show how the usage of these technologies can revolutionize every aspect of the human experience
Topics that Wearable Computing Conference 2013 will discuss include:

– Key Features of Wearable Technologies
– A New World for Application Developers
– How Wearable Technologies Will Transform the Human Experience
– Wearable Computing and its Impact on the Technology Marketplace
