T5 Data Centers Poised to Meet Emerging Challenges of Mission-Critical Hyperscale & Enterprise Computing

T5 CEO Cites Record of 10 Years’ of Success and Innovation as the Foundation to Meet New Market Challenges and Continued Delivery of “Forever On” Data Services.

Atlanta, GA, USA — After a decade of delivering “forever on” data center services, T5 Data Centers, innovators in providing secure, customizable, hyperscale and enterprise computing environments, has just completed its best year in 2018. As the company moves into 2019, T5 CEO Pete Marin predicts another strong year as T5 prepares to meet the new challenges of the rapidly changing cloud computing market.

“T5 has been able to stay ahead of the continually changing data center market by combining future-proof facilities with innovation, superior expertise and customer service,” said Marin. “With a 10+ year record of success, we continue to expand our data center portfolio and provide services that anticipate our customers’ needs. We have a growing list of satisfied customers and industry accolades such as the Uptime Institute’s Continuous Uptime Award, so we have earned our reputation for reliability and delivering ‘forever on’ services.”

New demands on hybrid computing architectures are presenting new challenges to data center occupiers and colocation providers. Hybrid clouds are making up the bulk of corporate computing services, giving users access to vast public clouds while enabling them to retain control over their most sensitive applications. In addition, Edge computing is gaining ground as more companies decentralize their IT infrastructure and use regional data centers to shorten the backhaul and reduce latency for applications such as managing Internet of Things (IoT) devices. In fact, the proliferation of IoT, mobile computing, and other data traffic is putting an added strain on data centers.

At the same time, there is an ongoing shortage of qualified data center personnel. According to a study by the Uptime Institute, 45 percent of data center operators said that lack of qualified staff will limit data center growth for the next five to seven years, and 38 percent said they are having trouble finding qualified candidates to fill open IT positions.

“T5 is one of the few companies able to offer end-to-end data center solutions from construction to ongoing operations,” Marin added. “In addition to our Tier III-plus data centers, we have T5 Construction Services to help with planning and custom build-outs, and we have T5 Facilities Management to provide world-class operations expertise. We are a one-stop-shop with the staff and resources to deliver tailored hyperscale and enterprise solutions, no matter what the requirements.”

The company has plans for international expansion in 2019. T5 has already announced the addition of T5@Ireland, and the company will expand its international coverage in the months ahead.

T5 Data Centers Completes T5@Chicago To Accommodate Growing Demand from Enterprise Data Center Users

Completion of Purpose-Built, Customizable Facility Gives T5 a Leadership Presence in Burgeoning Chicago Data Center Market.

Elk Grove Village, IL, USA — T5 Data Centers, innovators in providing secure, customizable, hyperscale computing environments for enterprise companies, has completed construction of the T5@Chicago data center in one of the hottest markets in the United States.

The completion of the T5@Chicago facility just seven months after beginning construction demonstrates T5’s ability to build data centers quickly and in a robust nature that appeals to the corporate enterprise. The data center now offers up to 10 MW of available critical power capacity in the important submarket of Elk Grove Village.

The colocation market continues to thrive in the U.S. represented by quarter over quarter leasing records posted by data center providers. The evaluation process of choosing whether to outsource or build your own data center used to be much more complicated and strenuous. However, T5 Data Centers has simplified this decision-making process for companies through its ability to build extremely resilient facilities in a more cost effective, efficient and timely manner.

“Our extensive development process from the initial building design stages to collaborating with our customers during installation has eliminated much of the complexity companies have when undertaking data center initiatives,” said David Horowitz, Vice President of Sales for T5 Data Centers. “It’s all about listening to the customer and delivering on what is important to them. These are mission-critical projects and customers not only demand operational performance and continuous uptime, but they also want to avoid giving up control of their infrastructure. The level of security, unparalleled customer support and true visibility into a customer’s infrastructure within a T5 facility is superior to owning and operating themselves.”

T5 Data Centers has already completed leases in T5@Chicago with a variety of Fortune 1000 companies who were looking for a partner that offered a customizable solution in a highly secure environment.

“We have preleased most of the Phase 1 capacity at T5@Chicago and are already embarking on plans for further expansion,” said Horowitz. “Chicago continues to be one of the hottest data center markets in the country, and T5 is in a unique position to be able to offer such a robust and flexible solution.”

“ComEd has invested billions to upgrade the power delivery infrastructure in Northern Illinois, including a recent substation capacity expansion benefiting the Elk Grove area” said Sheila Owens, Vice President of Economic Development, of ComEd. “This will help ensure consistent and reliable service for customers at T5 Data Centers.”

The newly completed T5@Chicago data center is a purpose-built, LEED-certified data center providing server-ready space for enterprise customers in a highly secure environment. In addition to providing secured, private data halls in a concurrently maintainable and fault-tolerant design, T5@Chicago also provides premium common area amenities to accommodate its customers’ employees.

On-site support is available through T5 Facilities Management (T5FM), which provides best-in-class, award-winning facilities management services including remote hands to data center owners across North America. The T5FM team provides 24/7 facilities support so customers can be assured of uninterrupted service.

T5 Data Centers Signs Hospital Tenant for T5@LA Facility

Los Angeles Medical Network Selects T5@LA for Seismic Safety and Power Resilience to Ensure Continuous Uptime for Patient-critical Data Systems.

Los Angeles, CA, USA — T5 Data Centers, innovators in providing secure, customizable, hyperscale computing environments for enterprise companies, today announced that a large regional hospital has signed as the newest tenant for its T5@LA data center. The hospital plans to migrate all data operations into T5@LA to take advantage of the purpose-built data center, seismic-hardened infrastructure, and the skilled on-site support of the T5 Facilities Management team.

Throughout the stringent selection process, several requirements needed to be met and verified by the new hospital tenant. At the top of the list, T5@LA had to be compliant with the California Seismic Safety Act, which requires all hospitals remain operational in the event of an earthquake. The deadline for compliance is January 1, 2020.

Other T5@LA attributes supporting the hospital tenant’s decision are the dedicated on-site substation allowing for greater electrical resiliency, T5’s world class Facilities Management & Operations as verified by the Uptime Institute, and robust security to ensure HIPAA compliance. Through the numerous connectivity carriers, various network technologies, and fiber density available within T5@LA, the hospital tenant was able to establish a multi-faceted network strategy. This included Metro Dark Fiber rings, direct Internet access, and cloud direct-connect capabilities.

“Over the last decade we have built our reputation by delivering uninterrupted data center services, which is essential for patient-critical compute systems,” said Aaron Wangenheim, Chief Operating Officer of T5 Data Centers. “We are seeing more hospitals looking to outsource data center operations to comply with the Seismic Safety Act. T5 remains confident that other discerning CIOs and data center operations managers will come to T5 seeking highly reliable, versatile, purpose-built data center services.”

T5 Data Centers Enters European Market with Addition of T5@Ireland Data Center Campus

New Purpose-Built Data Center in Ireland Offers Same Robust Infrastructure as T5’s U.S. Facilities Just in Time for New Data Sovereignty Laws.

ATLANTA and CORK, Ireland — T5 Data Centers, innovators in providing secure, customizable, hyperscale computing environments for enterprise companies, has entered the European data center market with today’s announcement of a new joint venture with JCD Group of Cork, Ireland to develop the T5@Ireland data center campus. This is T5’s first data center outside the United States and will look to take advantage of the coming political changes in the European Union (Brexit and associated EU data sovereignty laws), and telecom and power infrastructure advantages in Cork to serve a growing need for companies seeking new data centers serving European and U.S. customers.

The new T5@Ireland campus is a 32.5-acre, 46 MW dedicated data center campus with full planning permission for two enterprise facilities of 7 MW each, and a cloud targeted facility of 32 MW. The site is carrier rich and will have direct access to Ireland’s five largest domestic fiber carriers, as well as subsea cable connectivity to the United States, United Kingdom and Europe via GTT Express (lowest latency between EU and US), GTT North & South, (secondary routes between US, UK and Europe), Aquacomm’s AEC-1 Cable (Ireland to NYC). Building I will be a 7 MW, 84,000 square foot facility and is due for completion in Q1, 2019, which will coincide with the landing of the Ireland France Subsea Cable (IFC-1), the first cable to directly link Ireland to mainland Europe. Building II will be a 97,000-square-foot, 7 MW data center, and Building III will be a 323,000-square-foot, 32 MW data center. As with all T5 facilities, each data center can be customized to accommodate any enterprise-grade or cloud computing deployment.

In addition to new EU data sovereignty laws which could drive data center traffic from the UK following Brexit, construction of T5@Ireland comes at an opportune time relative to power availability and telecom connectivity within Ireland. Dublin has historically been the preferred data hub of Ireland, but the region is experiencing a restriction on data center growth due to lack of adequate power. T5@Ireland is fed by 60 MW of power from an adjacent dual fed substation, and can deliver this power within expedited delivery deployments of new facilities. These and other market factors are driving more data center operations to strategic locations such as Cork.

“Now is the perfect time for T5 to build T5@Ireland as our springboard into Europe,” said Pete Marin, CEO & President of T5 Data Centers. “Cork is a growing technology hub with a great talent pool and robust infrastructure. We expect T5@Ireland to attract European customers seeking a new location for their enterprise operations, and for U.S. companies seeking a European data center presence. This is the next phase of T5’s global expansion strategy and shows our commitment to serve our customers wherever they need us.”

T5@Ireland Building I is a Class A data center designed to meet LEED Silver requirements. It features block-redundant 1.75 MW electrical lineups and can accommodate densities from 5 to 25 KW per rack. The Cork location also offers ideal climate conditions for indirect, free air cooling, and the building is equipped with Liebert DSE cooling for modular growth.

As with all T5 data centers, T5@Ireland will be managed by the T5 Facilities Management (T5FM) team. T5FM is responsible for T5 Data Centers’ record of 100 percent uptime, and serves as an extension to our customers’ IT staff, offering facilities operations and management, remote hands, and IT consulting services.

Momentum Continues for T5 Data Centers with Addition of S&P 500 Client in Chicago

Information Technology Company Chooses T5@Chicago To Accommodate Rapid Growth.

Elk Grove Village, IL, USA — T5 Data Centers, innovators in providing secure, customizable, hyperscale computing environments for enterprise companies, today announced another pre-lease within Phase 2 of the T5@Chicago build-out. This is the second pre-lease with an enterprise company for T5 Data Centers in Chicago. Pre-leasing is challenging in the data center industry and occurs more often with hyperscale providers than it does with the enterprise. However, T5 was able to deliver a customized solution for this client and meet an accelerated time frame for a “rack-ready” data hall.

This S&P 500 Client needed immediate access to a Tier III data center in the Chicagoland area, but more importantly, that data center had to be both customizable and meet the stringent security and administrative criteria of highly regulated companies. T5 has extensive experience building custom data center solutions for customers in financial services, telecommunications, health care, and other regulated markets across the country.

“The complexity of these projects requires a cohesive team that communicates effectively and pays close attention to detail. The level of transparency we demonstrate to our customers provides them with a level of comfort and control, as if our operations staff was simply an extension of their team,” said David Horowitz, VP of Sales and Marketing for T5 Data Centers.

As customer IT requirements continue to evolve with the adoption of cloud computing, it becomes more important for providers to offer flexible solutions that align with corporate objectives. Horowitz adds, “This was an incredibly fast transaction that incorporated several important factors including a creative growth structure and a flexible ramp schedule. While the transaction structure remains instrumental in selecting a data center provider, our customers find tremendous value in the processes and procedures our T5 Facility Management teams have in place to ensure 100 percent uptime and to deliver exceptional customer service.”

T5@Chicago is a highly secured, 208,000 square-foot, Tier III data center located in Elk Grove Village. This LEED Silver certified data center was acquired by T5 Data Centers in 2016 and has been operating since its inception through T5FM, which provides best-in-class, award-winning facilities management services. T5 is currently in Phase 2 of its T5@Chicago build-out, adding a new secure data hall with an additional 2 mW capacity.

T5@Chicago is the company’s ninth U.S. data center and meets the resilient, high-quality characteristics consistent across T5’s portfolio.

T5 Data Centers prides itself on providing state-of-the-art, custom-built data centers with on-site systems management from T5 Facilities Management (T5FM). For T5’s new hospital network tenant, T5@Chicago offers a robust infrastructure that allows them to consolidate operations and to maximize control of their infrastructure. The T5@Chicago infrastructure will also comply with HIPAA and other stringent regulations.

“Chicago is becoming one of T5’s hottest markets,” said David Horowitz, VP of Sales and Marketing for T5 Data Centers. “We are experiencing more demand from the corporate enterprise users who are requiring highly secure, scalable purpose built data centers. We are able to provide this latest Chicago tenant a customizable build-out and a scalable approach to manage future growth. Allowing our customers to control their infrastructure and have visibility into their operations like it was their own internal data center is a major differentiator that enterprise customers appreciate. Our T5 Facilities Management team is simply an extension of our customers’ teams.”

T5 Data Centers Begins Phase 2 of T5@Chicago Build Out to Meet Growing Regional Data Center Demand

T5@Chicago Data Center Adds Server-Ready Capacity to 208,000 Square Foot Facility.

Elk Grove Village, IL, USA — T5 Data Centers, innovators in providing secure, customizable, hyperscale computing environments for enterprise companies, today announced the second phase of the build out of its T5@Chicago data center. T5@Chicago is a highly secured purpose built, 208,000 square-foot data center in Elk Grove Village. This next phase will deliver a secure data hall consisting of 2 megawatts (mW) of available data center capacity in one of the premier data center markets in the country.

The Chicagoland area continues to experience an increase in demand from local and regional companies, along with cloud providers who are trying to keep pace with the adoption of hybrid cloud solutions. With more than 150 million square feet of office space in the Chicago area, there is a growing migration by enterprise customers from on premise computing to specialized colocation/wholesale and cloud services. T5@Chicago offers customers a customized data center solution that provides secure private data halls in a concurrently maintainable and fault tolerant design.

“The demand from corporate enterprise seeking data center space in Chicago continues to grow in a market that has very limited supply. As vacancy rates hover around 5 percent, we are in a unique position to deliver a high-quality data center solution that will provide customers complete control of their infrastructure, as if it were their own mission critical environment,” said David Horowitz, VP of Sales and Marketing for T5 Data Centers. “Network and power continue to be the life blood of a data center. We originally chose this location because of the robust fiber network and resilient utility infrastructure in Elk Grove Village. Beyond the initial data center, our adjacent site can accommodate another 170,000-square-foot,16mW facility to support future growth.”

T5 Data Centers Opens Doors to T5@Dallas III Data Center

T5 Data Centers Completes Construction of New Concurrently Maintainable, 156,000 Square Foot, Greenfield Purpose-Built Facility with 10.75 MW Capacity.

Dallas, TX, USA — T5 Data Centers™ (http://www.t5datacenters.com), innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable and highly reliable computing support environments, today announced the opening of a new data center, T5@Dallas III on its Plano data center campus. The new greenfield, purpose-built data center is tenant ready and offers the same robust construction as the balance of the T5@Dallas campus, including a dedicated data center support team. The T5@Dallas campus is located in Plano’s Legacy Business Park.

The T5@Dallas III facility is a LEED Silver certified, concurrently maintainable data center with 94,400 square feet of available data hall space and 10.75 megawatts of critical power. T5@Dallas III features a highly efficient chilled water plant for a low annualized PUE, and it offers both N+1 and 2N MEP configurations for guaranteed uptime. The new facility also will be maintained by its own dedicated T5 Facilities Management (T5FM) team.

The building itself is designed to withstand winds in excess of 221 mph (EF-5 tornado equivalent), and there are multiple redundant power feeds from two local substations. In addition, the T5@Dallas III facility can take advantage of the multiple carriers and fiber connections already serving the T5@Dallas data center campus.

“Dallas is our most active data center market so it only made sense to bolster our T5@Dallas campus with an additional enterprise grade facility,” said Aaron Wangenheim, Chief Operating Officer for T5 Data Centers. “Our new T5@Dallas III data center is a smaller version of the adjoining T5@Dallas I data center with the same robust construction, design redundancy, and physical, electrical, and mechanical infrastructure. Dallas is a growing market for Fortune 500 companies and we want all of our tenants to be confident that when they sign with T5 Data Centers, they get a state-of-the-art facility with top-tier support.”

The original T5@Dallas facility is a 311,000 square foot/21.0 megawatt building with four isolated data centers under one roof. T5@Dallas is one of six T5 data centers nationwide to receive the Uptime Institute’s Management & Operations (M&O) Stamp of Approval. The M&O assessment evaluates every aspect of data center operations including planning, coordination, management, staffing and organization, training, operating conditions, and maintenance.
