The Politically Incorrect Toys Portfolio is a social commentary on how toys have changed over the years and how we, as a society can change our views about what is or is not socially acceptable.
Honolulu, HI, October 16, 2013 – The Politically Incorrect Toys photography project was recently launched on Kickstarter and features rewards that include a limited edition portfolio and large sized giclee prints. Vintage toys that are featured in this project date from 1941 to 1982 and includes the Gay School Bus, Chinese Make-up Kit, Lovable Smoking Pet and Tiny Ding Dong.
“I feel that as a country, we’ve made great strides to to equality, but at the same time we’ve gone backwards in some ways” says David Murphey, the project’s photographer. “Wouldn’t it be great if we could put aside some of our sensitivities (just once in a while) and find humor in our differences?”

About Hawaii Photographer David Murphey:
I’ve been a professional photographer in Hawaii for over 20 years, and I work with advertising agencies, graphic designers, public relation firms and their clients. My assignments range from lifestyle photography, resort advertising, corporate event coverage to food and product photography.
One of my most memorable projects was a 2 week shoot for Verizon Wireless on the West Coast. We photographed “Test Man”, aka “The Verizon Guy” in 3 states. Starting in Southern California, we moved from parks in Irvine to studio sets in downtown LA and mansions in Beverly Hills. We finally ended up at Bronco Stadium in Denver.
