Global Software Company First Tenant to Break Ground at T5 Data Centers’ T5@Colorado Campus

After Extensive Search, Technology Company Selects T5@Colorado for Its Resilient Infrastructure and Park Restrictions for Data Center Use Only.

Colorado Springs, CO, USA — T5 Data Centers™ (http://www.t5datacenters.com), innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable and highly reliable computing support environments, has announced that a global enterprise software company has purchased 8.5 acres of the T5@Colorado campus for construction of the first of two Colorado Springs-based data centers. The company broke ground earlier this month for construction of the first of its synchronous pair of data centers. The enterprise software company chose T5@Colorado after an extensive search for a suitable location in the Central US region. The Purchaser noted that T5@Colorado data center campus is ideal because of its location, utility resiliency, and the security offered by a dedicated data center campus with restrictions on use that ensure similar uses nearby.

“Having one of the top 10 technology companies sign as the first occupant of the T5@Colorado campus is a coup for T5@Colorado and offers validation for the data center park location and infrastructure,” said Vince Colarelli, T5’s Colorado representative. “Now that they have broken ground, we can continue to develop the infrastructure that will be the foundation of future data center success for the T5@Colorado location.”

T5@Colorado is a pre-planned, pad-ready data center campus with restrictions that specify land use for data centers only. The 64-acre campus has dual, independent power feeds, expandable to deliver 100 MW of critical electrical capacity. Plans also call for the campus to accommodate up to 15 telecom providers with dual independent routing and low latency. The geographic location was chosen because it offers low risk for both natural and manmade business disruption, and because of regional zoning and economic incentives that promote construction of Tier II, Tier III, or Tier IV single and multi-tenant data centers.

T5 Data Centers Signs Sutherland Asbill & Brennan for Turnkey Colocation Services at T5@Atlanta Facility

Global Law Firm Gains Better Cost Controls with T5 Enterprise Solutions Suite.

Atlanta, GA, USA — T5 Data Centers™, innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable and highly reliable computing support environments, today announced that Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP, an international legal practice, has signed as the latest customer for T5’s Enterprise Solutions Suite at the company’s T5@Atlanta data center. By licensing colocation and enterprise services from T5 Data Centers, the law firm will be able to take advantage of T5’s “Smart-Tech” remote hands support as well as “ColoFlex” metered power services to more closely align costs with consumption.

Sutherland Asbill & Brennan is the latest law firm to sign as a T5 customer, whose secure and resilient enterprise colocation environments are well suited to host the critical data center needs of legal and financial services firms. The combination of enterprise-grade facilities, services and connectivity solutions was compelling enough for Sutherland to relocate its data center from Virginia to T5@Atlanta while positioning them for long-term growth as they provide secure data access to partners and offices around the globe. As part of its move into the T5@Atlanta colocation facility, the firm also plans to take advantage of T5 Facilities Management (T5FM) services, which provides comprehensive data center operations and management to ensure optimal uptime while managing total costs. In addition, T5’s Enterprise Solutions Suite includes a consumable infrastructure billing model with metered power and managed bandwidth, so the law firm only pays for services it actually uses.

“Our ColoFlex consumption-based billing model was a key factor in Sutherland’s decision to move its data center operations to T5@Atlanta,” said Craig McKesson, Executive Vice President of Enterprise Solutions for T5. “As companies continue to move toward hybrid cloud deployments they’re looking for a way to better align the cost models of their private environments to those of the public cloud. T5 ColoFlex offers the best of both by providing the added advantages of better data control and security, better reliability as well as cost containment while also enabling our customers to connect to their preferred public cloud environments. We’re excited to welcome Sutherland Asbill & Brennan into T5 and expect to see more law firms move away from paper archives and adopt an extensible data repository to simplify data access and strengthen regulatory compliance.”

T5 Data Centers currently offers turnkey enterprise services at its T5@Atlanta and T5@LA data centers. T5’s Enterprise Solutions provides a simplified approach to IT, offering top-tier managed networking and colocation services purpose-built to meet each customer’s unique demands.

T5 Data Centers Breaks Ground on New Build-to-Suit Data Center at Kings Mountain Campus

New Custom-Designed Data Center Contract Reaffirms T5’s Expertise in the Design and Construction of Build-to-Suit, High-Performance Data Centers.

Kings Mountain, NC, USA (January 6, 2016) — T5 Data Centers™, innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable and highly reliable computing support environments, has broken ground on a new build-to-suit data center at its Kings Mountain, North Carolina, campus. Construction of the new enterprise-grade data center follows an exhaustive national search led by Kristina Metzger, Data Center Specialist at CBRE Data Center Solutions on behalf of an unnamed Fortune 50 company.

T5 Data Centers won the competitive bid for this build-to-suit contract after meeting and exceeding the stringent specifications outlined in a comprehensive Basis of Design and RFP. “Following a highly competitive process, T5 was ultimately selected as the right solution based on their extensive expertise in build-to-suit enterprise data centers, the company’s ability to meet and exceed a rigorous set of requirements, and because T5@Kings Mountain proved to be an ideal location,” said Kristina Metzger of CBRE. Ultimately T5 Data Centers will achieve several Uptime Institute Certifications including: Tier III Certification of Design Documents, Tier III Certification of Constructed Facility, and Tier III Gold Certification of Operational Sustainability.

In addition to T5’s design and engineering team having responsibility for the facility’s construction, T5 Facilities Management (T5FM) will be responsible for on-site building operations management and systems support.

“This new contract is a real testament to the discerning customer’s recognition of T5’s expertise and excellence in building and operating true enterprise quality data center environments. We brought a solution to the table that included design and construction expertise, a proven data center location, and best-in-class facilities management capabilities,” said Aaron Wangenheim, Chief Operating Officer for T5 Data Centers.

T5 has been designing and building customized data centers from the ground up for 20 years. The company recently completed a similar project for a tenant at its T5@Portland campus. T5 Data Centers maintains seven data center campuses strategically situated across the country. T5’s Kings Mountain campus has the added advantage of being located in North Carolina, since the state recently passed the North Carolina Competes Act, which includes tax incentives for data center operations, including power and equipment.

Atlanta, GA, USA (October 5, 2015) — T5 Data Centers™, innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable and highly reliable computing support environments, has received the Uptime Institute Network One Year Performance Award across its data center portfolio. The Uptime Institute Network recognizes member companies who achieve 100 percent uptime performance over designated periods. T5 Data Centers has never had an unplanned outage on any of their customers’ I.T. equipment due to power or cooling anomalies since the company began operations in 2012.

The Uptime Performance Awards were implemented in 1998, and are available only to member companies who have achieved continuous uptime of all I.T. equipment in their data centers. T5 Data Centers joined the Uptime Institute Network in January 2014 to further its goal of providing a Top Tier service to its customers. The One Year Performance Award was given to T5 Data Centers for uninterrupted service at the company’s T5@Atlanta, T5@Dallas, T5@Kings Mountain, and T5@Los Angeles data centers.

“This award validates T5’s commitment to providing customers with what we like to call Total Availability,” said Joe Parrino, Senior Vice President of T5 Facilities Management. “Maintaining Total Availability for our data centers is an absolute must – our reputation is completely dependent on our service reliability. We know our customer’s reputation is dependent on our ability to deliver Total Availability as well. T5 Data Centers is committed to providing the most reliable data centers in the market, which is demonstrated by the fact that we are being rewarded for uninterrupted service over the last year at all our facilities.”

In certifying that the data center maintains continuous operations, Gregory Lyon, Critical Facilities Manager and Vice President of Citizens Bank, said: “T5 Data Centers T5@Kings Mountain has provided Citizens Bank with 100 percent uptime of critical power and cooling systems service for our data hall. No outages have been recorded during the operational year and the facilities operation team at T5 has provided us with world-class data center maintenance and repair.”

T5 Data Centers Expects New Growth at T5@Kings Mountain Park with Passage of North Carolina Tax Incentives Act

Passage of HB 117, the North Carolina Competes Act, Provides New Tax Abatements and Benefits Specifically Designed to Make North Carolina Attractive for Data Center Growth.

Kings Mountain, NC, USA — Executives at T5 Data Centers, innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable and highly reliable computing support environments, indicate that passage of House Bill 117, the North Carolina Competes Act, will create new growth opportunities for the company’s T5@Kings Mountain Data Center Park. The new legislation includes components specifically designed to promote growth of data centers within the state.

HB 117, the North Carolina Competes Act, includes a number of sales tax incentives, including privilege tax breaks specifically for data centers. Any equipment to be used in a data center such as servers, equipment, cooling systems, data storage, and other components is eligible for a new sales tax incentive capping the sales tax at 1 percent. The same incentive also has been extended to power such as the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity, including substations used for data center purposes. Equipment and electricity are two of the most expensive elements of data center operations, so waiving sales taxes can result in a huge savings. To qualify for the 1 percent privilege tax, data center owners and tenants must make a cumulative investment of $75 million over five years.

The North Carolina Competes Act also includes employment incentive programs and a reduction in personal income tax, making North Carolina more attractive for skilled workers.

“We have been actively working to see HB117 passed because we recognize that these tax incentives will promote technological growth in Cleveland County,” said Frank Lyles, Chief Business Officer for T5 Data Centers. “We already negotiated attractive property tax rates with Kings Mountain, and with these additional sales tax incentives on data center equipment and power, we believe Kings Mountain is the ideal location for organizations looking for a centrally located, high-performance, wholesale data center.”

T5 Data Centers already has agreements in place for 30-year rebates on real and personal property taxes with the City of Kings Mountain and with Cleveland County. The new sales tax incentives offered by HB 117 are now available in addition to the already low tax rates in the region.

The T5@Kings Mountain data center campus features turnkey, power shell and build-to-suit options within the 280-acre campus. The geographic location has a low occurrence of both natural and manmade disasters and the buildings are structurally enhanced to withstand winds up to 185 mph. The core and shell is LEED certified.

T5 Data Centers Signs New Financial Tenant for T5@Atlanta

Superior Physical Security and Design Flexibility Attracts Financial Services Company Servicing Global Transactions.

Atlanta, GA, USA — T5 Data Centers™, innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable and highly reliable computing support environments, has signed a lease with a new tenant for its T5@Atlanta data center. This new financial services tenant provides global transaction processing services to banks and credit card companies, and it will be hosting its North American hub at T5@Atlanta.

T5’s reputation for enterprise quality solutions and flexibility proved to be key differentiators for this new tenant. For example, the level of secure access to the data center exceeded audit requirements, and the T5 team worked closely with the new tenant in designing a data center infrastructure that met their specific needs. The T5@Atlanta data center already houses several financial services firms so this tenant’s specifications were very familiar.

“We are attracting more financial services tenants and companies with business-critical requirements because of our service, our reputation for reliability, and our flexibility of solution and lease terms,” said Tim Bright, Executive Vice President of T5 Data Centers. “This particular client’s requirements were stringent to begin with, which eliminated a number of regional competitors, and our overall offering exceeded their compliance needs and gave them flexibility to grow. Finally, our ability to offer a superior infrastructure and a predictable real estate cost model made T5@Atlanta a logical choice for this company.”

T5@Atlanta is a purpose-built, Tier III, server-ready data center with multiple data suite sizes and densities within a secure, bunkered facility. T5@Atlanta houses over 100,000 square feet under one roof; including 55,000 square feet of raised floor. It also offers an installed critical IT power load of 6,000 kW, expandable to 9,000 kW.

One of the unique features of T5@Atlanta, is its power redundancy. T5@Atlanta is fed by five separate substations; two of them on Georgia Power’s “Hi-Reli” system for mission-critical users. The 25 kV feeds from the substations are encased in concrete with an automatic transfer switch on site, delivering flawless reliability. Three additional substations can also feed the facility if necessary, although the primary and secondary circuits have had a historical reliability in excess of Tier IV requirements.

T5@Atlanta is LEED Silver certified, offers tenants significant tax incentives, operational control of their whitespace with guaranteed power and cooling availability within the robust utility, and fiber-rich Alpharetta Technology corridor.
