T5 Data Centers Receives Tax Exemption for New Build-to-Suit Data Center at Kings Mountain Campus

North Carolina Competes Act HB 117 Gives New Kings Mountain Data Center Tenants Millions of Dollars in Tax Exemptions for Both Construction and Operations.

Kings Mountain, NC, USA — T5 Data Centers™, innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable and highly reliable computing support environments, has been granted tax exempt status by the state of North Carolina for its new build-to-suit project at the company’s King’s Mountain Data Center campus. The tax incentive was awarded under the recently enacted HB 117, the North Carolina Competes Act, which grants tax privileges specifically to data centers, and will provide tax exemption for both data center construction and operations.

Under the tax exemption umbrella, T5 Data Centers is exempt from paying sales or use taxes on major equipment and supporting infrastructure during construction of the new build-to-suit data center. The savings during construction are expected to be significant for T5 as well as for T5’s customers. It also means that T5 Data Centers and its new customer will be exempt from taxes related to data hall IT deployments and facility operations, which includes expenses for servers, hardware, equipment, and taxes on electricity. To qualify for the tax exemption, a cumulative anticipated investment of $75 million has to be made in the data center over five years.

“With the new data center tax incentives, North Carolina becomes an even better location for companies seeking to build a high-performance data center facility,” said Robbie Sovie, Vice President of Construction Services. “The tax savings during the construction phase are substantial, and our customers are already talking about reallocating those tax savings to assist with continued investment in the Kings Mountain data center. This new tax incentive package continues to make North Carolina one of the most cost-effective locations to build and operate a data center.”

The tax exemption savings new Kings Mountain tenants receive under HB 117 are in addition to the agreements T5 Data Centers has negotiated with the City of Kings Mountain and Cleveland County for 30-year rebates on real and personal property. The combined tax incentives make T5’s Kings Mountain campus an attractive location for data center investment.

T5 Data Centers Expects New Growth at T5@Kings Mountain Park with Passage of North Carolina Tax Incentives Act

Passage of HB 117, the North Carolina Competes Act, Provides New Tax Abatements and Benefits Specifically Designed to Make North Carolina Attractive for Data Center Growth.

Kings Mountain, NC, USA — Executives at T5 Data Centers, innovators in providing state-of-the-art, customizable and highly reliable computing support environments, indicate that passage of House Bill 117, the North Carolina Competes Act, will create new growth opportunities for the company’s T5@Kings Mountain Data Center Park. The new legislation includes components specifically designed to promote growth of data centers within the state.

HB 117, the North Carolina Competes Act, includes a number of sales tax incentives, including privilege tax breaks specifically for data centers. Any equipment to be used in a data center such as servers, equipment, cooling systems, data storage, and other components is eligible for a new sales tax incentive capping the sales tax at 1 percent. The same incentive also has been extended to power such as the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity, including substations used for data center purposes. Equipment and electricity are two of the most expensive elements of data center operations, so waiving sales taxes can result in a huge savings. To qualify for the 1 percent privilege tax, data center owners and tenants must make a cumulative investment of $75 million over five years.

The North Carolina Competes Act also includes employment incentive programs and a reduction in personal income tax, making North Carolina more attractive for skilled workers.

“We have been actively working to see HB117 passed because we recognize that these tax incentives will promote technological growth in Cleveland County,” said Frank Lyles, Chief Business Officer for T5 Data Centers. “We already negotiated attractive property tax rates with Kings Mountain, and with these additional sales tax incentives on data center equipment and power, we believe Kings Mountain is the ideal location for organizations looking for a centrally located, high-performance, wholesale data center.”

T5 Data Centers already has agreements in place for 30-year rebates on real and personal property taxes with the City of Kings Mountain and with Cleveland County. The new sales tax incentives offered by HB 117 are now available in addition to the already low tax rates in the region.

The T5@Kings Mountain data center campus features turnkey, power shell and build-to-suit options within the 280-acre campus. The geographic location has a low occurrence of both natural and manmade disasters and the buildings are structurally enhanced to withstand winds up to 185 mph. The core and shell is LEED certified.

National Leader Volunteers For Ilario Pantano Campaign for Congress in Wilmington NC

William Gheen of the national organization Americans for Legal Immigration PAC is traveling to Wilmington, North Carolina, this weekend to volunteer for the ALIPAC endorsed congressional campaign of Ilario Pantano.

Raleigh, NC, USA — William Gheen of the national organization Americans for Legal Immigration PAC is traveling to Wilmington, North Carolina, this weekend to volunteer for the ALIPAC endorsed congressional campaign of Ilario Pantano.

Ilario Pantano faces NC State Senator David Rouzer in the GOP primary to be settled on May 8. ALIPAC has endorsed Ilario Pantano for his strong stance in favor of immigration law enforcement instead of Amnesty.

In contrast, David Rouzer has lobbied Congress in the past in an effort to pass Amnesty legislation for illegal aliens that is opposed by a large majority of American and GOP voters.

“I’m looking forward to getting out from behind the computers and on the front lines of the fight against illegal immigration by getting in the trenches as a volunteer with the Pantano campaign this weekend,” said William Gheen, President of ALIPAC. “If enough voters understand that David Rouzer actively supports Amnesty for illegal immigrants, then Pantano will win this race.”

William Gheen has served as a campaign consultant in North Carolina prior to forming Americans for Legal Immigration PAC in 2004, which has quickly become the nation’s largest grass roots political action committee addressing the issue of illegal immigration. Gheen has also served as an Assistant Sgt At Arms to the NC Senate, a legislative aide, and a registered issue lobbyist, and is cited regularly in state, national, and global media.

William will be filming short video clips during his volunteer efforts on the Ilario Pantano campaign for a video blog that will be released nationally to encourage other American activists to volunteer for the over 100 federal campaigns currently endorsed by ALIPAC. (See list at http://www.ALIPAC.us)

“Volunteering for one of our ALIPAC endorsed campaigns is a great way to support the national fight against illegal immigration and illegal alien Amnesty supporters like David Rouzer,” said William Gheen. “ALIPAC was founded by campaign volunteers and this year we want to return to the founding motivations of our group by calling on Americans from Carolina to California to deploy behind campaigns that stand with Americans against illegal immigration.”

William Gheen will be conducting interviews with the media while in Wilmington Friday, April 27, through Sunday, April 29. To schedule interviews or for more information please visit http://www.alipac.us or call (866) 703-0864.
