New Memoir ‘Riches, Loss and Redemption: One Woman’s Journey’ Offers a Powerful Message About Inner Fulfillment and Profound Love

In her sequel to ‘Martha Ruth, Preacher’s Daughter’ Marti Eicholz shares her ongoing journey and unrelenting search for self-acceptance and within her own heart and soul.

San Diego, CA, USA — Marti Eicholz’s second memoir, ‘Riches, Loss and Redemption: One Woman’s Journey,’ is a compelling, stand-alone sequel that combines subtle poignancy with stark, difficult truths and a sense of self-awareness that is brutally honest as she reveals the details of her life after finding love and moving to California from her home state of Indiana.

Once settled on the west coast, Eicholz and her new husband begin their life together. Eicholz finds herself navigating unfamiliar territory but slowly acclimates to what on the surface appears to be a charmed life. She immerses herself in her upscale community in the San Francisco Bay Area, organizes and hosts posh parties and high-society events, and mingles with celebrities and entertainers. Eicholz and her husband acquire several homes, travel the world, join the country club, donate to charities and enjoy a luxurious lifestyle. But even as she savors her first-class experiences, Eicholz is always aware that she has become disconnected from her purpose, and that she may have lost her way amid the excitement of living life large.

The eventual and unexpected loss of all of their assets becomes a turning point in Eicholz’s life, a turning point that perhaps she was always moving towards. “Each experience and stage of my life was a unique gift,” explains Eicholz. “I learned that my responsibility was to value each one of these gifts and to protect them from attempts to suppress their contribution.”

Motivated by the necessity to examine her own experiences and to help others on their journey, Eicholz provides a valuable narrative (in the same strong, pure voice as her previous memoir) about the powerful and transformative process of introspection. Her book is filled with joy, sorrow, success, self-doubt, love, fear, compassion and a deep and palpable gratitude for the preciousness of her life and the steadfast love between her and her husband.

“Every step of my lifetime journey was equally significant and necessary for my growth towards healthy living,” says Eicholz. “By sharing my story, others may be given insights that would give clarity to their own journey.”

‘Riches, Loss and Redemption: One Woman’s Journey’ is published in ebook format by eBookIt.com and is now available at popular online retailers including Amazon.com, Barnesandnoble.com, and Apple’s iBookstore.

Marti Eicholz is available for interviews.

New Children’s Book “Mama Stitches” Offers Message of Love and Community

Mama Stitches is the first book in a series of original stories about how a mother dog, her puppies and their owner sew clothes for the homeless and cover them with love.

New Britain, CT (USA), June 22nd, 2016 — The latest book from the awarding winning house of Halo Publishing International is Akintunde “Tunde” Sogunro’s book Mama Stitches: To Cover with Love. Mama Stitches is the first book in a series of original stories about how a mother dog, her puppies and their owner sew clothes for the homeless and cover them with love. Beautifully illustrated by former Disney artist, Chad Thompson, this story shares a message of love and acceptance, of generosity and community; perfect for reading aloud to your children.

“I wanted to create a story about the importance of love to be shared with children who may or may not feel supported and encouraged at home,” said author, Tunde. “I believe everyone is born with a voice but as we grow and experience pain in life we begin to wear masks and lose touch with our voice, identity and dream. As Mama Stitches says: “Everyone has a story and a song in their heart. I love to listen close and sew them just what they need!

“My hope is that, as children fall in love with Mama Stitches, they will fall in love with reading and subsequently show love to the homeless and needy in their community. It is the love, literacy and community movement,” said Tunde. “Let’s start a love revolution!”

As part of that desire to unite a community, Tunde has been working over the past several months to bring together libraries, churches, government officials and families for the Mama Stitches 5,000 Back-to-School Book Release Block Party where the vision is to provide 5,000 copies of Mama Stitches to 5,000 children and collect 5,000 articles of clothing for the homeless.

This will be the debut event of Cover With Love (www.coverwithlove.org), a new non-profit that partners with other organizations such as Reality Outreach Unlimited, Coram Deo, Family Promise for the Homeless and Paradym Inc, that is dedicated to showcasing the radical power of unconditional Agape love to the world!

“The message of “cover with love” in Tunde’s book Mama Stitches is so joyful,” said Lisa Umina, founder and president of Halo Publishing. “Tunde’s passion for building community through this message of love and literacy is inspiring and I hope everyone will have a chance to read this clever story. I imagine many will relate to Mama Stitches’ pup Little Mama who wants to be good but takes a little bit longer to understand the benefits of giving back. It is fun to watch her grow to be filled with the community spirit.”

The Mama Stitches 5,000 Back-to-School Book Release Block Party is schedule for August 20, 2016 from 10am-2pm. Utilizing the totality of the historic Trinity-On-Main performing Arts Center, (located at 69 Main Street, New Britain, Ct 06051), there will be story-telling, face painting, caricature drawing, games, “Dunk the Major” with New Britain Mayor, Erin Stewart and puppy petting. Admission to the event is a donation of clothing. Business or organizations interested in ensuring inner city children are introduced to Mama Stitches’ love, can pre-order copies of Mama Stitches on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. They may also sponsor special edition copies of Mama Stitches for inner city and DCF foster care children by contacting Tunde directly at tundedriven2inspire@gmail.coim

“We want to create an idea that will last and the message of Mama Stitches is just that,” said Tunde. “What better way than to share the message of “cover with love” at an old fashioned block party where the entire community comes together. Our goal is to have 5,000 copies Mama Stitches: To Cover with Love sponsored so that the children of Greater New Britain and Greater Hartford areas can receive a free copy for their own enjoyment.”

The Mama Stitches Movement has just received exciting endorsements from countless public figures including Nancy Serra, Superintendent of New Britain Public Schools, Mayor Erin Stewart, and award winning author Catherine Gibson. To learn more, visit www.mamastitches.com and www.coverwithlove.org . Mama Stitches: To Cover with Love is available to pre-order at Amazon and Barnes and Noble; $21.95 in hardcover.

Entrepreneur Gene Nalbandian Finds Meaning in His Life’s Journey

Gene Nalbandian’s first book, “Lamentations of a Dad: How Takeaways Led to Comebacks” allows the reader to enjoy an intimate conversation with Gene; who openly and honesty shares the lessons he has learned from the roller coaster of his life.

Laguna Beach, CA (USA), 6th June, 2016 — Gene Nalbandian has lived almost eight decades and his personal journey includes being a descendant of Armenian Genocide survivors, founding a number of entrepreneurial businesses, a stint as a pro-ball player for the Chicago Cubs, as well as being the first man in California to legally obtain full custody of his three children. His first book, “Lamentations of a Dad: How Takeaways Led to Comebacks” allows the reader to enjoy an intimate conversation with Gene; who openly and honesty shares the lessons he has learned from the roller coaster of his life.

“It hasn’t always been easy,” shares Gene Nalbandian. “Especially losing my son to a long hard fight with drug addiction, however, through all of my life there have been opportunities to learn and grow and I hope readers will take away information they can use in their own life.”

“Lamentations of a Dad: How Takeaways Led to Comebacks” offers hope to those who have struggled with loss, failure and disappointment. Gene shares the lessons he has learned and the comebacks he has enjoyed by simply mastering the art of picking himself back up and moving forward, one step at a time.

“There are so many experiences for which I am most proud; my children are all wonderfully successful, each in their own right,” says Gene. “I have started several businesses, hold three patents and founded an ice cream franchise that was wildly popular in the 70s. Each of these accomplishments have had moments where I questioned the direction and yet ultimately, whether they failed or exceeded expectations, have provided lessons I hope others can benefit from.”

The loss of his youngest son, Derek, just two short years ago, has certainly been the biggest struggle and most painful experience.

“Derek was an amazing man who was gripped by an addiction no amount of love, support or money could overcome,” shared Gene. “I have walked that nightmare and share what that experience was like and how I have coped both during those years with my son and in the time since he has passed. I hope others going through similar circumstances will gain comfort from this book and the chapters I have dedicated to our relationship.”

“This is an extremely personal book and one which we, at Halo, are so very proud to represent,” says Lisa Umina, founder and President of Halo Publishing International. “Gene offers readers an inspirational message as a father, entrepreneur and mentor. It is a book that I’d recommend for those just starting out in business as well as those who are struggling with raising children of divorce. Frankly, anyone who has tried, failed and wants to try again will benefit from reading “Lamentations of a Dad: How Takeaways Led to Comebacks.”

Lamentations of a Dad: How Takeaways Led to Comebacks – By Gene Nalbandian

Lamentations of a Dad is a wonderfully heartwarming memoir that will lift your spirits and show you that even when tragedy strikes, there are always rainbows that emerge from the darkness and gloom.

Gene was born into an ordinary family who was proud of their culture and beginnings. He graduated from college and was signed by the Chicago Cubs as a promising pitcher. This was a dream come through for Gene. But sadly, a tragic injury ended his career with the Cubs and he had to search another path in his life. But this set back let to another comeback later on.

Gene’s life was also speckled with several other setbacks. He married, divorced, became an entrepreneur, became a single dad, and experienced the death of his son to a drug overdose. But even in the middle of all of these tragic experiences, there were always the comebacks and the rainbows that appear from the darkness.

Gene is a true testament of strength and courage. He shows that we can all learn to cope and not get discouraged, even when there are many really awful things that happen to us in our lives. His walk and trust in the Lord has always given him the strength to endure. All the negative and positive events of his life have made him who he is today, a strong, courageous, grateful, and peaceful man.

I recommend this book to anyone who has experienced a lot of hardship and tragedy and feels trapped by all these events. Gene’s book will enlighten you and give you the strength to courageously carry on.

Is Believing Enough or Do You Need Hope and Oxygen, Too?

Surviving divorce, raising children and starting over is something Katie Kelley Detmer understands all too well.

San Antonio, TX (USA), September 25, 2015 — Katie Kelley Detmer is an emerging author and speaker looking to touch those around her with a message of faith, family and hope. Detmer always wanted to write, but it wasn’t until after her divorce, the loss of her parents and being a mother of three children that she gained the courage to share her personal story of love, struggles, faith, hope and courage.

In her debut novel Hope & Oxygen, Detmer touches readers and shares her motto of: “It is never as bad as it seems and even though it may be hard, it’s never impossible.” Detmer’s book is geared to women and single mothers, however, fathers will be able to connect to many of the personal journeys Detmer shares such as learning even if something seems dark, impossible, you just need to take the first five minutes…the first step and keep going. Detmer talks about how single parents, wives and husbands need to focus on the first few days, weeks or months and not focus on fives years out from the goal.

“My book covers the seven-year journey I took in getting back into the work force and the dating scene after my divorce as a single mother of three children. It wasn’t easy raising my kids on my own. I had to learn how to balance my life while making sure I kept my focus on myself, my kids and what I wanted to achieve at work,” shared Detmer. “My journey had many ups and downs. I made mistakes, and sometimes people in my life were not honest with me, and I had to protect my kids from it all the best I could.”

Hope & Oxygen is a true story and starts with Katie Kelley Detmer’s earliest memories of a chaotic event that she survived without a blemish. Well, sort of. Detmer’s life has been a series of unexpected events and obstacles that she has had to hurdle. From getting divorced to dating a man sometime after who was trouble but seemed wonderful at the time, and later watching her children go through challenges, including her son being told he wouldn’t be a football player; miraculously, Detmer has always landed on her feet.

“My book isn’t about my ex-husband or why my marriage failed but rather a story about starting over with three kids and traveling down that unchartered path that so many woman travel. I didn’t want this to be a negative or dark book but rather a book of hope laced with plenty of humor even though at the time it may not have seemed funny” said Detmer. “Sharing the trials and tribulations about ‘that guy’ I dated after my divorce was critical to my book as so many woman I have met over the years have ‘that story’. Things don’t always end well in relationships, including marriages. Yes, sometimes an ex can be awful and painful, but my story isn’t about those things. It’s about picking yourself up, dusting off the bad memories and starting over. I want readers to know that things aren’t always that bad and with hope and oxygen, all things are possible.”

Hope & Oxygen takes readers full cycle throughout Detmer’s journey and the tiny opportunities that come along to keep her moving forward through it all.

“Everyone can tell you it is impossible, but it’s not. We do need companionship, be it family, friends or a special person in our lives,” commented Halo Publisher Lisa M. Unima. “I believe it was faith and the importance of her children that helped get Katie through it all. Women email her to share their stories, and that truly shows the inspiration Hope & Oxygen gives readers.”

You can purchase Hope & Oxygen through Halo Publishing’s website (http://halopublishing.com), Amazon and B&N.

School Counselor Teaches Resiliency to Combat Future School Shootings

Releases third book called, “Relax”.

Westlake, OH (USA), December 12, 2014 — Middle School Counselor Kasey Kellem says about 50% of the students she works with have problems with anxiety. That’s one of the reasons why she wrote the book “Relax.” Recently released through Halo Publishing International, it’s the third book in a three-part series called “Mind Over Matter” or M.O.M. Geared toward pre-school students, each book teaches a certain characteristic of becoming resilient.

“Everybody faces adversity at some point in life,” says Kellem. “The earlier children learn how to become resilient, the easier it will be for them to deal with the challenges and obstacles that come with life.”

Through her research, Kellem found that teens and young adults are not prepared to handle adversities such as bullying, conflict, divorce, abuse, death and disease, which may occur in their lives.

“This lack of resiliency, I feel, has been the cause of increased school violence and shootings,” says Kellem.

She studied 9 school shootings along with the most recent one at Sandy Hook Elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut. Almost two years ago to the day, on Dec. 12, 2012, Adam Lanza fatally killed his mother and then shot 20 children and six adult staff members before he took his own life. The troubled boy was a target of relentless bullying who also dealt with disease and divorce.

Kellem’s books teach on the five characteristics of resiliency: 1.Believe that you can get through adversity; 2. Surround yourself with those who love and support you; 3. Take time and find ways to relax; 4. Set goals and follow your dreams; 5. Maintain a sense of humor. She says these characteristics help kids develop social competence, problem-solving skills, critical consciousness, autonomy and a sense of purpose. Kellem says all the students responsible for school shootings dealing back to Columbine in 1999 were missing one or more of these factors.

Kellem says she and her husband both practice the five characteristics of becoming and staying resilient. Currently, she lives with Multiple Sclerosis, while her husband is fighting metastic cancer.

“We live with hope and a positive attitude despite the stressors in our life,” says Kellem. “We are surrounded with loving and supportive people and we look for humor in everyday situations. We still keep busy but find ways to relax each day. Finally, we still believe in our dreams and that we will overcome our challenges. This is what gets us through life.”

You can purchase The Mind Over Matter (M.O.M) books including “Relax” through Halo Publishing. Each sells for $16.95

“These books are also designed to be decorations on bookshelves, nightstands, or desks in a child ´s bedroom or playroom which will serve as constant resiliency reinforcement,” says Halo Publisher Lisa M. Umina.

Biography:
Kasey Kellem is a middle school counselor and a former special education teacher, who has devoted her life to help children who are facing adversity to become resilient. Published by Halo Publishing International, The Light in Your Eyes represents what Cassman always remembered about her husband, Steve.

Houston, TX (USA), July 19, 2014 — The feelings Lisa Cassman couldn’t voice aloud, she expressed in poems. Her words document a lifetime of love, friendship, disappointment, hurt and success. She shares her journey with readers in her newest book, The Light in Your Eyes.

Published by Halo Publishing International, The Light in Your Eyes represents what Cassman always remembered about her husband, Steve. “We met for the first time as guileless teenagers at a Christian summer camp,” Cassman said. “I never forgot the light in his eyes.”

Cassman said years ago, she took out a simple piece of paper and wrote down three goals she wanted to achieve – to be in a successful marriage, to travel and to write a book. She wrote her first book, The Road Less Traveled, A Guide to a Positive Marriage, while traveling with Steve, a semi-truck driver for Schneider National. Cassman said the book, also published by Halo Publishing International, has become a popular wedding gift.

Cassman said she hopes The Light in Your Eyes will inspire readers to remain hopeful about their dreams and goals, including what they want in relationships.

Halo Publisher Lisa Umina said The Light in Your Eyes represents Cassman’s life journey, but her words represent feelings many people have experienced. “She talks about dreaming, friendship, falling in love, feeling hurt, etc., all parts of life most people can relate to,” Umina said.

Empowerment Company Launched to Help People Find Love, Health and Wealth

Medizate, a newly launched empowerment company, offers the tools to help Americans achieve their personal goals – whether it is to ask for a raise at their job, find true love or become their ideal weight.

Long Island, NY, November 04, 2013 — Medizate, a new company that provides empowerment tools that can help develop confidence, self-love, health and wealth, was launched October 1, 2013 by two Long Island psychologists, Yvonne Pratt and Sheila Santi. The company, through its website, www.medizate.com, provides affordable, positive therapeutic tools for the mind and body — unique meditation, subliminal and hypnotic CDs and downloads.

Empowerment Pods were created in subliminal message format to target specific goal areas such as confidence, assertiveness, health, wealth, self-love and other improvement areas. The messages combined with soothing, well-crafted music to specifically enhance each goal area. This allows the listener to go through their day while these positive messages are deeply absorbed, facilitating positive change and growth in the selected goal area. Guided Meditations are combined with relaxation and breathing components for a unique and complete meditative journey for listeners to explore and create their own healing.

Yvonne asserts “I see and experience life as a spiritual journey made up of many layers (mental, emotional, physical and spiritual) which appear at times to be conflicting and confusing. My work is a reflection of the experiences and knowledge I have gained on my continuing journey of self-actualization. I believe we are all one — connected, however separate entities on this physical plane. If we are open we can all assist and learn from one another. Everything and everyone is a teacher. Growth is not always easy or pleasant but it is enlightening and freeing. The more self-responsibility we take, the freer we become. Transformation is not for the weak of heart. We are all here on a beautiful and magical journey together.”

Medizate’s goal is to empower individuals but also to reach into corporations and offer these tools to management so that their employees will be happier, healthier, more productive – for the benefit of the employee as well as for the company’s own bottom line.

Yvonne Pratt and Sheila Santi are co-founders of the Pratt-Santi Institute LLC and developers of Medizate Empowerment Tools. Yvonne is a LCSW-R, Certified Hypnotherapist, Master Hypnotherapist Trainer and Reikki practitioner.
