Food processing methods such as heating, washing and freezing, all deplete MSM in foods, which makes daily replenishment beneficial. Many people with joint pain may be deficient in MSM. In a 1995 study, sulfur concentration in arthritic cartilage was shown to be about one-third the level of normal cartilage.

The Arthritis Foundation’s web site lists the most common side effects of those medications used to treat arthritis. Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as aspirin and ibuprofen can create edema (swelling of the feet) heartburn, stomach ulcers and possibly increased risk of blood clots and heart attack. Corticosteroids (cortisone) may contribute to cataracts, elevated blood sugar levels, increased appetite and bone loss. Injections at the arthritis site can create redness and swelling and increased risk of infections.

In the breakthrough book called “The Miracle of MSM: The Natural Solution for Pain,” Stanley Jacob, M.D., the co-discoverer and ‘Father of MSM’, and Ronald Lawrence, M.D., share their experiences with successfully treating people with MSM. Together they have treated over 12,000 people with MSM for a variety of conditions at the Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland Oregon.

Consumers Invited to Take Control of Health Insurance Company

Colorado’s Health Insurance CO-OP Opens Board of Directors Applications

Denver, CO, May 20, 2014 — Colorado HealthOP, Colorado’s first statewide health insurance CO-OP, has initiated a significant shift in how insurance companies are run, introducing greater member control into an industry that historically has had very little. The CO-OP announced today it is now seeking applications for its board of directors, inviting nearly 14,000 of its new Colorado members to run for a seat. The board of directors is elected by CO-OP members, and at least 80 percent of the board will be comprised of CO-OP members by the end of 2015. Board members will have formal decision-making authority to initiate changes in the CO-OP that will benefit all CO-OP members.

“Because Colorado HealthOP is controlled by our members, and not by outside investors, the CO-OP will become what our members want and need it to be – health insurance that is focused on improving the health of our members and the health of the communities we serve,” said Julia Hutchins, chief executive officer of Colorado HealthOP.

In this trailblazing model of member governance, Colorado HealthOP’s board members will be responsible for ensuring that member interests are reflected in the CO-OP’s decisions and actions, with an ultimate goal of lowering costs and providing more efficient and valuable health coverage to Colorado HealthOP members. Specific responsibilities include strategic goal setting, providing input into budgeting and financial reporting, developing policies for CO-OP business operations and overseeing the CEO.

“This call for applications represents a revolutionary time in healthcare,” Hutchins said. “Across the country, health insurance CO-OPs are doing for health insurance what the cooperative model has done for agriculture, electricity and countless other industries; we are introducing greater consumer control, improving efficiency and bringing consumer-demanded change to the healthcare industry.”

Colorado HealthOP opened its board of directors application process on May 1, 2014. Members can submit applications until July 7, 2014. A Nominations and Outreach committee will review all applications and conduct two rounds of applicant interviews to develop a diverse slate of candidates that will be presented to Colorado HealthOP’s members in August. Members will have the opportunity to vote for their board representatives in September and October. The new 11-member board will be seated at the CO-OP’s annual meeting in October.

Colorado HealthOP’s founding board of directors, who will continue to oversee the CO-OP’s operations until the new board is seated, is comprised of a group of volunteer healthcare professionals, policymakers and advocates.

I’ve used a LOT of Moroccan Oil/Argan oil products. I have long, thick, color-treated hair that frizzes, and this miracle oil is the only thing I’ve ever found to tame it. They all work, some better than others.

I should have used that dime-sized dollop for my entire head of hair (did I mention my hair is THICK AND LONG). I was quite surprised by this. This bottle will really last.

Finally, I did the usually styling after using the oil–blow dryer and curling iron. My curls look better–healthier, and they’re staying put even without hairspray.

I’m so pleased with this product. I’ll definitely be back, and plan to make it part of my routine.

Great moisturizing oil, love the bottle too – Olesja Mueller

I love how non-greasy the oil feels and it seems to moisturize really well. I use it on my heels, and around nails on hands and feet. I have really noticed improvement in dry skin there. I also applied to knees and hands, and it absorbs really well and doesn’t leave any greasy residue. I heard a lot of good feedback about properties of Argan oil and a lot of my favorite products have it in them, so now I am trying it in its pure form. What I also really love is the bottle it comes in – it has a very convenient long glass dispenser, so you don’t need to get a bunch of oil all over you while pouring out of a hole in plastic, like other products I have tried. You can target the problem areas and apply only there. Thus it goes a long way, since you use only as much as you need. I also plan on using on my hair and face as a night moisturizer. 🙂 Oh, and it came with a super yummy lip balm, I love that it actually has almost eatable taste and it moisturizes lips super well.

I’ve only used this oil once on my face a few days ago but it still feels fantastic. My order came with a free lip balm and after using it twice my lips felt better than they have in forever. Now that I’ve been using the oil a little longer I wanted to add that I had a little scar on my face that I noticed after the first couple of days getting lighter and now, about a month later, I swear it is totally gone! My first use was on my hair and it eliminated the frizz, as well as helped keep my hair looking good for two days without needing another wash and style.

The second use was for a little sunburn that was stinging and a bit painful. Within a few minutes of application the sting went away.

It also works well as gentle eye oil before going to bed or in the morning.

I am sure there is a myriad of other uses. I love that it is all natural, has no scent and really does work. Please do note the 4 oz size – it is very generous. Most products that come in these dropper bottles are 2 oz and seeing a product picture on the internet can be deceiving. This is in fact a good size bottle and lots of oil that will last for quite a while. The price for this amount cannot be beat, in my opinion. 🙂

I have used a few different pure Argan oils, this is by far the best I’ve used. I use it on my hair after every shower and also on my skin because it gets dry very easily. My skin and hair feel amazing after using this product and one of the things I really like about it is that it’s not too thick and doesn’t make my hair feel oily just soft and shiny. Pain Management In-Office Procedures Decline with Reimbursement Rates

The proper business management of an Pain Management Center will be the key to success going forward, according to industry professionals.

Dallas, Texas, April 26, 2014 – In an article published by The Ambulatory M&A Advisor, Dr. Rudi Gari of Texas Pain Relief Group weighs in on the matter, noting that physician-owners of Pain Management Centers need to keep the business side of their practice in mind, even if it doesn’t come second nature.

“Physicians are typically not the best business people,” Gari said. “You may be the best doctor the world has ever known, but if you don’t know how to manage your finances and manage your office, you’re not going to have an office to practice in.”

This emphasis on business is a result of declining reimbursement rates, according to Dr. Al Liceaga, Medical Director of Orangewood Surgical Center and Regional Pain Treatment Medical Center.

“ASCs reimbursement for procedures are often paid on only one CPT code and global fees now limit payment and reduce access to care by not allowing reimbursement for certain procedures within the global time period,” he said. “Reimbursement for hardware and implants has dramatically changed also. The majority of implants are now inclusive of the global fee.”

These changes in reimbursement rates had a noticeable impact on in-office procedures, with higher costs causing a reduction in such procedures.
