Story Teaches Value of Unconditional Love and Acceptance

Author Elizabeth Kail Arnita penned her first book, Baby Come Home, to help parents enhance their familial and spiritual relationships.

Houston, TX (USA), November 20, 2012 — Based on her own experience raising children, author Elizabeth Kail Arnita penned her first book, Baby Come Home, to help other parents enhance their familial and spiritual relationships.

“It’s a story that was in my heart,” she said, “a lesson that we learned through our own mistakes raising children.” “It is my prayer that readers will use this book to enhance their relationship with their child and their child’s relationship with the Lord,” Arnita said. “My message is not to obey God’s commands for his sake, but for your own sake.” Baby Come Home is a story of a young bird, “Baby,” who learns the value of unconditional love and acceptance after he decides to break free from the confinement of his cage and those who love him most. I tried to explain to my kids that the cage was not a punishment, but a place of protection. They had difficulty seeing what the big deal was until Baby escaped the house and flew away.”

In our own lives when we look at rules given by our parents, teachers, bosses and especially God, we tend to view them as something that keeps us from having fun or from growing up, when in fact, they are put in place as an offering of protection until we are ready for the responsibilities that lie before us.”

The author and her husband founded and manage Welcome The Children (WTC), a non-profit organization that funds and supports children who are experiencing the reality of poverty.

“My love for the Lord has opened my eyes to a world in need and ignited my compassion for those who are less fortunate,” Arnita said.

Hyde Park Prepares for Annual ‘Winter Wonderland’ Fair

The crowning glory of London’s numerous Christmas fairs and markets is Hyde Park’s annual Winter Wonderland. It is returning this year on November 23rd, and will stay open until January 5th (closing only on Christmas Day).

Now in its sixth year, Winter Wonderland is London’s largest Christmas fair, and offers some major attractions for locals and tourists alongside the usual array of rides, markets and food and drink stalls. The event spans Hyde Park and the adjoining Kensington Gardens .

The centerpiece of the event is the massive ice rink, currently under construction around Hyde Park’s bandstand. The rink will be lit up by 108,000 pea lights. One of the other regular attractions, Zippos Circus, returns with a brand new show for 2012 entitled ‘Cirque Berserk’, a showcase for stunt artists and old-fashioned circus daredevils. A 53-metre high ferris wheel will dominate the skyline.

If you just plan to wander around soaking up the atmosphere, entry to Winter Wonderland is free. However, tokens have to be purchased for the big wheel and other rides. The fiction category is intended as primarily a short story contest, although authors are encouraged to also submit one act plays, or other experimental compositions. The non-fiction category includes personal essays, memoires, sociopolitical opinions, and travel stories, not including reviews. All English language submissions, in any genre, are eligible. However, submissions with pornographic theme, hate speech, or those that may be classified as personal or institutional rants will not be considered.

There are three prizes in each category, $300, $150, and $50, for a total of $1000 in author prizes. The contest is fee to enter. Previously published material and simultaneous submissions are permitted.

Asked about the first contest, Bob Dourandish had this to say: “Our first writing competition was successful beyond our own wildest hopes! We received over 1000 entries from 11 countries, many of which were compelling and extremely well-written pieces.
