More Honors for the Lady Justice Mystery/Comedy Series

More accolades for Robert Thornhill’s Lady Justice mystery/comedy series as the National Association of Book Entrepreneurs just announced that Volume #16 in the series

Independence, MO, September 09, 2014 – More accolades for Robert Thornhill’s Lady Justice mystery/comedy series as the National Association of Book Entrepreneurs just announced that Volume #16 in the series, Lady Justice and the Organ Traders has earned the Pinnacle Achievement Award for Best New Mystery – Summer 2014.

In addition, Volume #17, Lady Justice and the Pharaoh’s Curse, was just awarded a Five Star Review from Reader’s Favorite.

Lee Ashford of Reader’s Favorite writes, “Lady Justice and the Pharaoh’s Curse by Robert Thornhill offers another excellent entry to the Lady Justice series of comedic mysteries. Walt, Ox and the whole gang are back to help resolve a growing number of unusual murders, with an apparent connection to a theft from the travelling “King Tut” exhibit on loan from Egypt. When Walt and Ox are both arrested for one of the murders, things get really dicey. Whoever set up the dynamic duo seemed to cover every base, with all the evidence pointing directly to the pair. Their future was in the hands of a single defense attorney, but she was very good at her job; was she good enough? Historical facts are liberally sprinkled throughout this book, as is generally the case with Thornhill’s work. Lady Justice and the Pharaoh’s Curse includes a nice bonus: a link to relevant and fascinating information about the boy king. Don’t skip the link.

Lady Justice and the Pharaoh’s Curse is Robert Thornhill’s latest release, but it seems each successive story is better than the previous stories. I don’t know how he could get any better than he already is, but he must have found a way. This is a great story on several levels. The comedic factor is witty and befitting the various characters involved. The murder mystery is well established, well written, and very deeply cloaked in a well-designed mesh of convoluted clues. The police procedural aspect of the story is reasonable and quite believable. Finally, the historically accurate bits are fascinating and add punch to the story. Thornhill’s Lady Justice series was great to begin with, but each successive episode makes the series even better than before. You won’t want to miss Lady Justice and the Pharaoh’s Curse.”

Over 83,000 Kindle readers downloaded Organ Traders and Pharaoh’s Curse propelling both novels into the #1 rank in Amazon’s ‘Cozy Mystery’ and ‘Humor’ categories. amzn.to/1yHlnGE, amzn.to/1jmde5S

New book reveals Revolutionary Technique for Conflict Resolution

Shoto-Chi founder Robert J. Norton releases realistic guide to resolving day to day conflicts

Pickering, ON, August 30, 2014 – Drawing perspective from many years of experience in the field of martial arts and conflict management, Shoto-Chi founder and first time author Robert J. Norton bares revolutionary insights about the nature of conflict and its underlying psychology — explored in detail in his debut nonfiction title “Pine-Wave Energy”(published by Trafford Publishing). He introduces dynamic techniques in conflict resolution that have further applications in both personal and professional aspects of living.

In “Pine-Wave Energy,” Norton takes a rounded perspective that not only deals with understanding one’s own personal emotions and perception, but also continues through to protecting one’s personal space from a perceived or actual physical threat. It is a tool to understanding perception within conflict, how emotions become the catalyst for conflict, communication styles and personality types. It also shares effective techniques regarding verbal and non-verbal communication inclusive of the systematically developed QSC strategy. Furthermore, it introduces the basics of the dynamic technique known as the Fence. This technique has been developed over many years of studying human behavioral patterns by the Shoto-Chi’s founder. This technique integrates NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) to assist in the control of one’s personal space.

“The rounded nature of the book offers a fresh perspective on all things about conflict and provides effective strategies for both personal and professional environments,” Norton says. “Calmness is paramount and one of the most usable skills in almost all aspects of life. It doesn’t matter if you are entering conflict or climbing a mountain. Calmness helps us to focus. It allows us to digest information and objectively make a decision. When in conflict with another, calmness provides us structure. It provides us the key skill to attempt to resolve. It allows us to think and to evaluate the conflict, the environment, and the potential impact our actions will have on the conflict.”

“I have yet to come across a book that covers so many areas within conflict as this does. The insight into perception and especially calmness helped me tremendously as a teacher.”

GIL GARCETTI ANNOUNCES ANNUAL FUNDRAISER FOR “WELLS BRING HOPE”, THE CHARITY HE INSPIRED. IT IS COMMITTED TO SAVING LIVES WITH SAFE WATER IN THE POOREST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD

Philanthropist Stanley Black opens the gates to his legendary Holmby Hills estate to help Wells Bring Hope raise money to drill wells and bring safe water to the people of Niger, West Africa.

Gil Garcetti, and founder Barbara Goldberg, announced today that Wells Bring Hope’s annual fundraiser will be held on September 21, 2014, 3-6 p.m., at the home of philanthropist Stanley Black.

It will include live and silent auctions, live music, delicious food, wine and an exotic iced tea bar. The cost is $150.00 per person, fully tax deductible. 100% of all donations will be used to drill safe water wells in Niger. Founded in 2008, “ Wells Bring Hope” has raised close to $2 million and drilled 281 wells.

In Niger, the poorest country in the world…

•  44% earn less than $1.25 a day

•  61% have no access to clean water

•  96% have no access to sanitation

•  85% of women cannot read or write

“It is the women and girls who suffer the most because they are responsible for getting the water, water that often causes death and disease. When a well is drilled, girls go to school and we give women microfinance tools to start small businesses. It puts an end to the downward spiral of poverty,” said Gil Garcetti.

“One out of 7 children dies before their fifth birthday. When a well is drilled, child mortality is reduced by 70 per cent and lives are transformed for generations to come,” said Founder Barbara Goldberg.

Life with Special Needs Child is More Ups than Downs

Author Amy Troyer says her son, Ryan, came into this world to make a difference. Born with Down Syndrome, he has given many gifts to his family.

Houston, TX (USA), August 24, 2014 — Author Amy Troyer says her son, Ryan, came into this world to make a difference. Born with Down Syndrome, he has given many gifts to his family, Troyer said. “There are many moments of Ups and Downs on this journey but there are so many more UPS.”

Troyer knew there were many inspirational stories from families who have children or siblings with Down Syndrome and she recently compiled them in a new book, It’s More Ups than Downs, published by Halo Publishing International.

“After Ryan’s birth in 2001 a passion grew in me to reach out, love and share with new parents the wonderful blessings that come from having a child with Down Syndrome.” It’s More Ups than Downs includes stories from families with loved ones ranging in age from 9 months to 64 years old.

“I’ve found that when you have a child with special needs, you make friends with other families because of the connection.” “It’s More Ups than Downs came together out of a desire to reach those entering this journey. The families share the fears they had originally, but most importantly they share how those fears were put to rest and they see the blessings they have been given,” said the author.

Troyer believes It’s More Ups than Downs also is an excellent resource for medical professionals giving the diagnosis to new parents. “It is important for them to remember, these children are special in their abilities; that they are wonderful to be with, and they love like no other.” “I truly believe they are created in God’s image and come into this world to make a difference.”

Halo Publisher Lisa Umina said It’s More Ups than Downs focuses on the blessings rather than the struggles of having a family member with special needs. “Readers will be inspired by the true feelings shared in this book.”

Troyer said It’s More Ups than Downs offers keen insight to families, doctors and hospital staff about how life can be when a special needs child comes into it.
