Cranky George to Release Debut Indie Rock Full Length Fat Lot of Good on October 14

Fat Lot of Good features the first single and video “Nighttime”, available now!

Los Angeles, CA, October 04, 2016 – Cranky George, the folk-influenced indie rock band featuring actor Dermot Mulroney and co-founder of The Pogues, James Fearnley, will be releasing their debut full-length album, Fat Lot of Good, on October 14. The album will be released in digital and CD formats along with a limited edition of 450 double gatefold albums of heavyweight vinyl, each signed and numbered by the band. The music on the record, while diverse, features common threads such as Cranky George’s signature folk-inspired instrumentation – including accordion, violin, mandolin, acoustic guitars and ukuleles.

Recorded over a span of five years at Brad’s Seagrass Studio, Fat Lot of Good tips music from the bucket that dredges the confluence of the Danube, the Shannon and the Missouri. The album embraces fourteen songs, individually divergent, but which together ply a course from haven, round horn and back to harbor, by means of lullaby, torch song, sea shanty and murder ballad – an album which, with compassion, irony, humor and sometimes horror, tells stories of desire, love, loss, cruelty, ruination and pity.

One highlight of the album is the first single, “Nighttime” which draws from a variety of influences including legendary Canadian indie rockers Arcade Fire and is available now. Cranky George describes “Nighttime” as “Big in the way that Coldplay is big,” and says that the song is “A siren call for lovers – for anyone who’s ever slept beside someone they loved and wished the night would never end.” Featuring Kieran Mulroney on vocals, the song is a mid-tempo song from the heart and draws equally from groups as diverse as Elbow, The Decemberists, Coldplay, and Band of Horses while incorporating dripping guitars and horns at the climax. The accompanying music video features the five members of Cranky George as they perform the song and interweaves the story of a woman in distress, pining and longing for a lost love.

As a perfect foil to the effervescence of the musicianship in Cranky George, the band’s blend of vocal harmonies, its cross-graining of voices – James’s chiselly drone, the honeyed timbre of Sebastian’s voice, Brad’s incisive falsetto, the Mulroney brothers’ baritones – Kieran’s urgent, Dermot’s lusty – is as sturdy as marine plywood.

About Cranky George:
Los Angeles based Cranky George has brought together members and musical styles from both sides of the Atlantic to create a unique take on folk-influenced indie rock that is as special and diverse as the members themselves.

James Fearnley, co- founder and accordionist for the London-Irish folk-punk band, The Pogues, and the Mulroney brothers, Kieran and Dermot, siblings from a large, Irish-American family from Alexandria, VA, first came together as neighbors in Hollywood, California. While both of the Mulroney siblings are known for their work on and behind the screen with movies, they are both classically trained musicians; Dermot on the cello, mandolin, and guitar and Kieran on violin, ukulele, and tenor guitar. In 1994, they formed the LA based band, The Low and Sweet Orchestra, which released an acclaimed record, Goodbye to All That, on Interscope Records in 1996. After The Low and Sweet Orchestra split, both Mulroney brothers and Fearnley formed the Cranky George Trio.

During this time, Brad Wood, who has produced records for artist from the likes of The Bangles, Ben Lee, Pete Yorn, and Veruca Salt, was added on bass. To round out the new line up of Cranky George, Sebastian Sheehan Visconti, a sound designer and sound effects editor who notably worked on the television series The Muppets and The Flash, joined on percussion. After five years of work, Cranky George’s full-length debut – Fat Lot of Good – will be released on October 14, 2016.

The Christmas Mouse Inspires Families to Create New Holiday Traditions

The latest in holiday children’s literature, The Christmas Mouse, is soon to become a classic that families will read every December.

Oshkosh, WI (USA), October 01st, 2016 — The latest in holiday children’s literature, The Christmas Mouse, is soon to become a classic that families will read every December. Set at the time of Jesus’ birth, we find a tiny mouse and his fellow barn animal friends anticipating the holy birth; but not everyone is excited.

“I wanted to create a story that would put focus back on the true meaning of Christmas,” said Mark Spencer. “There was something innocent and endearing about a tiny mouse being the voice of faith and grace during a time when we can so often be caught up in the material trappings of the holiday.”

The Christmas Mouse is written entirely in rhyme and the illustrations, created by artist Polona Lovsin, beautifully bring to life a camel, goat, donkey, sheep and mouse. Children will be drawn to their sweet faces and the wonderful story as it moves from fear and doubt to faith and generosity.

“I’m an engineer,” said Spencer. “Writing children’s fiction was never even a consideration. However, one day while visiting friends, I noticed a tiny doll house door along their baseboard.”

That little door created a spark of inspiration and over time the story began to take shape in his mind until one final night when it just seemed to flow from his fingertips.

Readers of The Christmas Mouse will be glad that Spencer tapped into that inner child and created this wonderful holiday tale which includes an idea for creating an annual family tradition. The little mouse door plays an important role in the story. It is through the door that the grace of God enters; a door into our hearts. Spencer suggests families might create a simple door, with paper and crayon, to symbolize the spirit of Christmas entering each home. It is a wonderful way to keep the true meaning of Christmas alive.

“This is such a sweet story,” said Lisa Umina, founder and publisher of Halo Publishing International. “And I have it on good authority that these adorable creatures will be appearing in a sequel before too long.”

Early readers of The Christmas Mouse are already sharing their positive comments:
“What a great message of giving and generosity. It is a message that will teach kids a lot of important lessons. Most of all, it will teach kids the true meaning of Christmas so that they could get ready not by expecting gifts but by sharing as much as they can with others, especially those who are less fortunate,” Irene Roth.

The Christmas Mouse is now available in paperback and e-book formats at:

Santa’s Secret Wish Offers Message of Gratitude

“K” Stone has done it again. Taking inspiration from her grandchild, Charlotte, Stone has created a new twist on a classic holiday legend; Santa Claus.

San Antonio, TX (USA), September 29th, 2016 — “K” Stone has done it again. Taking inspiration from her grandchild, Charlotte, Stone has created a new twist on a classic holiday legend; Santa Claus. Have you ever wondered what Santa wishes for each year? Santa’s most loyal elf CB and Charlotte discover that Santa’s greatest wish is to receive as many letters after Christmas as he does before.

“I was inspired to write this story after my youngest grandchild, Charlotte, designed a colorful glitter and jewel bedecked thank you card for Santa,” said author “K” Stone. “She showed me her lovely creation filled with gratitude for all of the wonderful presents she had received and wanted to make sure that it was mailed directly to the North Pole. Her pure and grateful heart inspired this story that will hopefully encourage families to create a similar tradition in their home each holiday.”

Santa’s Secret Wish” is the second children’s story written by author and retired school teacher “K” Stone. Her first book, “’The Beach Fairy” was inspired by another true event, this one starring her oldest grand-daughter Georgia and their many treks to the beach.

Ms. Stone is a great believer in families and family traditions. She believes that literature should imitate life and wants to create wonderful memories for her grandchildren. “Santa’s Secret Wish” is a living legacy for her granddaughter and she plans to create a series of children’s stories steeped in family joy and love.

The message of being grateful is universal. “K” Stone’s story “Santa’s Secret Wish” is a great way of reminding children that, while it is fine to ask for what you want, it is just as important to be thankful and let the giver know just how much you appreciate his thoughtfulness. “Santa’s Secret Wish” is sure to become a classic holiday tale that families read to their children every Christmas.

The Biggest Little Brother Features an Immigrant Family in a Loving, Inclusive Story

An only child having to adjust to a new baby is a familiar tale; however, what happens when a new, older, brother comes into the family? Sowa is the oldest sibling and is used to helping his Mom and Dad and his baby sister Naiya.

San Antonio, TX (USA), September 24th, 2016 — An only child having to adjust to a new baby is a familiar tale; however, what happens when a new, older, brother comes into the family? Sowa is the oldest sibling and is used to helping his Mom and Dad and his baby sister Naiya. But when his big brother, Hindo, moves from Sierra Leone to live with them in Atlanta he suddenly realizes that he isn’t the oldest anymore. First time children’s author Aminata Jalloh, knows a little bit about how that feels having experienced a similar situation in her young life.

“As I looked at children’s literature for a story that would examine the changes siblings face when an immigrant relative moves in, I realized there wasn’t anything out there that really addresses those challenges,” said Aminata Jalloh. “I wanted to create a story that lovingly addresses some of the differences immigrant families face while still offering a book children would want to read.”

The Biggest Little Brother is exactly that; offering a main character in Sowa that wants to be helpful and is so excited to welcome this new member of the family. His desire to be a sibling leader and teacher is momentarily shaken when he realizes that he is no longer the big brother in the family.

“In writing this book my desire was to portray a “non-traditional” family structure in a way that will resonate with any young child,” said Jalloh. “I also hope to provide reading material that reflects the changing faces and experiences of the American family.”

I just love this story. Aminata has created characters that are honest and easy to relate with. I look forward to more stories with this same family.

While The Biggest Little Brother is her first book, Jalloh is currently writing at least two more children’s stories that will continue the saga of Sowa and his siblings. In the meantime, The Biggest Little Brother, is now available from Amazon for $15.95

About Aminata Jalloh:
Aminata Jalloh lives in Sierra Leone and is an education specialist in the international development field, where she provides technical expertise in the design of literacy curriculums and programs. Aminata’s book The Biggest Little Brother. is a children’s book focusing on sibling relationships and family change of a West African immigrant family. Keep updated on Aminata’s projects at www.aminatawrites.com.

By purchasing Jarman Wines you will not only enjoy certified organic ultra premium wines, but you will be supporting a worthy cause, finding a cure for Alzheimer’s disease.

Salinas, CA, September 22, 2016 – Toast the holidays with a wine that gives back. By purchasing Jarman Wines you will not only enjoy certified organic ultra premium wines, but you will be supporting a worthy cause, finding a cure for Alzheimer’s disease.

Jarman Wines make the perfect hostess gifts and party offerings. Even better, each purchase will help to benefit the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF). In addition, the winery has opened a tasting lounge in Carmel Valley that offers three levels of wine tasting and three specially themed picnic packages. Gift certificates for the picnic packages make the perfect holiday gift.

To honor her late mother’s memory, Holman Ranch CEO and eldest daughter Hunter Lowder took the best hand-selected estate grapes and created two premium varietals—Jarman Chardonnay and Jarman Pinot Noir—with $1 from each bottle sold going to the ADDF.

Jarman Lowder, Hunter’s mother, grew up in Chattanooga, Tenn., and lived up to being voted “best all around” in high school. She earned a nursing degree, worked as an R.N. and raised three daughters with her husband, Thomas. An active volunteer, animal lover, athlete and enthusiastic traveler, Jarman wanted to spend her golden years making wine with her husband at Holman Ranch, an idyllic piece of property in Carmel Valley, Ca. they purchased to realize that dream. Tragically, Lowder died in March 2011 at age 60 following a long battle with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease.

Holman Ranch and Jarman Wines have partnered with the ADDF to support research toward treatment and a cure for Alzheimer’s disease and to celebrate the life of Jarman Lowder.

“We wanted to honor her, give back and increase awareness,” said her daughter Hunter. “Everything we do here and the reason all this exists is because of her.”

“We appreciate the generous support of Holman Ranch and the Lowder family,” says Dr. Howard Fillit, founding Executive Director and Chief Science Officer for the ADDF. “And we are proud that 100 percent of every dollar donated through this partnership will go directly to fund drug research for Alzheimer’s disease.”

Dr. Fillit knew Jarman Lowder personally and was excited by the opportunity to honor her legacy in such a meaningful way.

About Jarman Wines:
Jarman’s terroir (a French word that speaks to a wine’s place of origin, its subtle nuances of traceable character, flavor, lineage and integrity) refers to a special place in Carmel Valley — and also to a special woman, family matriarch Jarman Fearing Lowder, who inspired a family to bottle the essence of a mother’s spirit.

A Jarman wine reflects quality, with only the best local grapes used during an artisanal, small-batch winemaking process.

– Newest offerings from the Jarman estate include; 2014 Estate Chardonnay, 2014 Estate Pinot Noir, and 2013 Estate Pinot Noir.

Jarman wine uses only 100-percent estate-grown, certified organic and certified sustainable grapes. Aged in French oak barrels, Jarman’s vintages are held in limited supply, and are not available anywhere outside their tasting room in Carmel Valley Village (open noon to 5 p.m., Thurs.-Sun.; or by appointment), next to the historical Will’s Fargo Restaurant & Bar, the restaurant the family purchased in 2014.

The tastings will feature full-fledged experiences, including tours and wine education, and each culinary parings that complements the wine. The new Jarman Tasting Lounge & Patio provides visitors with four unique experiences: Vin de Table, Cru Tasting, Premier Cru Experience and the Grand Cru Experience.

Robert Miller’s Project Grand Slam Releases New Single “The Queen’s Carnival”

“The Queen’s Carnival” is Title Track and Third Single From Group’s Most Recent Release

New York, NY, September 20, 2016 – Robert Miller’s Project Grand Slam, the jazz rock fusion band led by the acclaimed bassist/composer, is excited to announce the release of their latest single and title track from their new album The Queen’s Carnival. An upbeat, fun tune, Miller describes the track as “a fiesta – a Latin celebration”. The track’s accompanying music video, which will be released on Monday, September 19th, captures the sights of a Carnival celebration, a perfect match for the scenes evoked by the song. “The Queen’s Carnival” is a song that will find its way into your soul and inspire you to get up, dance, and enjoy life.

You can view the music video for “The Queen’s Carnival” via this private link.

Project Grand Slam’s 4th and latest album, The Queen’s Carnival, is available now in digital form via CEN/RED Distribution, a division of Sony Music. This exciting and fresh take on jazz rock fusion features eleven tracks, including nine original songs by Robert and both vocal and instrumental versions of Robert’s reimagined version of the Kinks’ classic, “You Really Got Me.” Dave Davies, guitarist and co-founder of The Kinks, had this to say about PGS’s version of “You Really Got Me” – “Very unique version and I am liking it!”. The new album draws from a variety of influences across genres as diverse as Celtic folk and afro-Cuban rhythms while highlighting Miller’s unique approach to blending jazz and rock into an entirely new sound.

This album follows the successful 2015 release of their third album, “Made in New York”, which featured the hit songs “New York City Groove” and “Fire” (Robert’s highly acclaimed reimagined cover of the Jimi Hendrix classic).

About Project Grand Slam:
Robert originally formed the band in 2007. Project Grand Slamʼs first two celebrated CDs, Play (2008) and Spring Dance (2012), had three top radio singles – “The Captain Of Her Heart” (feat. Judie Tzuke on vocals) from Play, and “Catch You Later” and “Spring Dance” from Spring Dance. The band also had a featured role in the hit NBC-TV series Lipstick Jungle starring Brooke Shields and Kim Raver, with five of the bandʼs tunes featured in the soundtrack and Robert having a speaking part.

In November 2015 the band opened for Scott Weiland (formerly of Stone Temple Pilots) at NYC’s Gramercy Theater. In May 2016 the band opened for 4-time Grammy Award nominee Boney James at the Bergen Performing Arts Center in NJ. In July the band was the featured performer at the Kirby Center For The Performing Arts in PA. In August PGS performed at the Tin Angel in Philadelphia and at Garcia’s at The Capitol Theater in Port Chester, NY (following YES). Also in August PGS hosted a CD Release Party at NYC’s Rockwood Music Hall. In October the band will again open for Boney James at the Ridgefield Playhouse and in December PGS will be the featured performer at the Highland Lakes Concert Series in NJ. The band continues to play at various clubs in NYC including a monthly residency at The Groove.
