Canbank Venture Capital Fund Ltd picks up Minority Stake in Unlisted Rs 200 Cr, M/s Him Teknoforge Ltd

* CVCFL invest Rs. 30 crore in HIM Teknoforge for a minority Equity stake. * HIM Teknoforge to use funds for its Capital Expenditure plans.

Mumbai, India, April 19th, 2016 — Continuing its strategy of investing in unlisted companies with high growth potential Canbank Venture Capital Fund Ltd. (CVCFL) through its Emerging India Growth Fund, has picked up a minority equity stake in ‘Him Teknoforge Ltd’ (HIM) for a consideration of Rs 30 crore which includes Rs 7.80 Cr towards partial buyout of Equity shareholding held by IFCI Venture Capital Funds Ltd. HIM is a leading manufacturer of Forgings and Machined Components for end use in Agri-Machinery, Automotives, Railways, Defense and Oil & Gas sectors. The product range comprises of gears, axles, shafts, levers, flanges, assemblies, sub assemblies, non gear/spider kits, etc.

Explaining the reason for investing in the company, Mr. K Baskaran, Managing Director, Canbank Venture Capital Fund Ltd. (CVCFL) said, “The Company envisages good business potential in widening its product and customer base by undertaking modernization-cum-technology upgradation and expansion at its existing plants. The proposed capex will help the company in meeting the demands of its existing customers for the Machined Components. This will enhance the value addition of HIM’s operations.” He further added, HIM being an established player in the Industry will get the inherent benefits of the same.

The Indian forging industry has emerged as a major contributor to the manufacturing sector of the Indian Economy, estimated at more than USD 3 billion currently, and approx. 20-25% of the size of the forging industry is attributed to exports. HIM has a good, progressive management which will take the company to greater heights.

Two Rosendin Electric Construction Projects Singled Out as “Best of the Best” for 2015 by Engineering News Record

Leading Private Electrical Contractor Key Contributor to ENR Winning Projects in Health Care and Energy/Industrial Categories.

San Jose, CA, USA — Rosendin Electric, one of the nation’s largest private electrical contractors and an employee-owned company, is pleased to announce that two of the company’s construction projects have been named Best of the Best for 2015 by Engineering News Record (ENR) magazine. Rosendin Electric was a key contributing contractor on both the UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay and the Stanford Energy System Innovation construction projects, which were chosen as the Best Health Care Project and the Best Energy/Industrial Project, respectively.

The UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay in San Francisco is a $1.5-billion hospital construction project with 17 trade partners, including Rosendin Electric, led by DPR Construction. What made the UCSF Medical Center challenging was not only the scope and complexity of the project, but also the addition of plans to accommodate a new cancer-treatment center 18 months after construction began. Rosendin Electric was instrumental in working with the Building Information Modeling (BIM) team to create a detailed design using the latest BIM technology, and mapping the design for field inspection via mobile tablets. The project was finished at $200 million under budget, including $55 million in changes that were implemented without affecting the completion date.

The Stanford Energy System Innovation (SESI) project was a $380 million power systems upgrade to Stanford University’s power infrastructure to meet new, high-efficiency building standards and improve energy efficiency to existing buildings. The project included the addition of a high-voltage substation, installation of state-of-the-art solar arrays, and building a new central energy facility with the largest heat-recovery chillers installed in the U.S. Rosendin Electric was an important contributor to this project, aiding in the design-assist effort for the engineering and construction of the Heat Recovery Plant, OSHPD energy plant, new Administration building, and various site upgrades.

“There were more than 750 entries for ENR’s Best of the Best Projects and we are delighted that we had two projects selected as winners,” said Todd Mazza, Division Manager for Rosendin Electric. “Both the USCF Medical Center and the SESI project gave us an opportunity to display the latest in electrical engineering and design techniques, including computer modeling, prefabrication, and advanced solar technology. AILBIEA Calls for Modernization of Ports and Rationalization of Policies at The Association’s 15th Anniversary Event

The association also called for removal of operational constraints, stamp duty on transfer of shipping documents, rationalization and systemization of customs / excise procedure and a complete overhaul of the available infrastructure.

India is set to become a major importer of a wide variety of liquid bulk commodities such as biofuels like ethanol and biodiesel in the near future. In such a scenario, it is imperative for our ports infrastructure to be upgraded with state of the art technology. Changes in the infrastructure along with change in mindset of process owners is equally important, e.g., the customs department to change their drive into ‘Facilitation’ gear. According to Mr. Jayyannt Lapsiaa, President, of AILBIEA, “Any country’s economic growth is intertwined with its infrastructure development. High transaction cost arising from inadequate and inefficient infrastructure, delays and hassles due to antiquated procedures and systems, is one of the major hurdles that our economy is unable to attain its full growth potential regardless of progress on other fronts. Port connectivity is still the soft underbelly of the port sector. Efficient infrastructure combined with quality and expeditious clearance procedures will help reduce costs and sharpen the competitive edge.”

Mr. Jayyannt Lapsiaa added, “In addition, the association strongly believes in taking along other likeminded associations and trade bodies who pursue fostering of EXIM TRADE, so as to create a conducive and friendly environment for ensuring better results.” In addition to infrastructure development, the Association has identified 3 issues which require urgent remedial attention for the Liquid Bulk industry particularly imports and exports to match global scales and standards. It is time that Government at the Centre and State modifies its out-dated policies and procedures and gives the right encouragement to trade.

Octroi levy, sales tax, stamp duty on import / export of cargo, removal of antiquated procedures and systems, and, facilitation to trade by revenue departments, other governmental departments and Port are a few issues which have to be addressed immediately, if “Make in India” and ease of doing business have to succeed.

Ever since its inception, AILBIEA has striven to address various technical, legal, infrastructural, administrative and procedural issues of liquid bulk trade. The stakeholders include importers, exporters, clearing and forwarding agents, shipping agents, installation owners, Surveyors, Barge operators and intermediaries connected with liquid bulk trade. The primary objective of this association continues to be that of playing a significant role of ‘Catalyst’ between various Port Authorities, Governmental and Revenue Departments and provide more solidity and clarity in ensuring smooth and fair operations.

Fulham Receives Class P Listing for 60W LED Drivers from Underwriter Laboratories

This New Class P LED Driver Certification Reduces Cost and Time-to-Market for Luminaire Makers.

Hawthorne, CA, USA — Fulham Co., Inc., a leading supplier of lighting components and electronics for commercial and specialty applications, today announced that its Class P LED Drivers have been listed by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), giving luminaire manufacturers a standardized platform for testing and evaluation of LED drivers. With this UL certification, luminaire manufacturers can develop new products using Fulham’s Class P drivers and reduce cost and shorten time-to-market by virtually eliminating compliance testing.

With this type of UL certification, Fulham can now offer manufacturers Class P LED drivers that can be used as alternates in their products without the need for extensive compliance retesting. Fulham’s first UL listing is for its constant current, 60W LED driver with outputs available from 700mA to 1600mA with 0-10V dimming. Additional LED drivers are expected to be listed in the near future.

UL is the first Standards Development Organization to offer a Class P Driver program for LEDs. The program provides guidelines for evaluation and driver testing with ratings for standardized LED construction.
