Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber and Edgar Perez’s Knightmare on Wall Street Step up Top Marketing in 2013

Edgar Perez, Author, The Speed Traders, and Course Director, The Speed Traders Workshop, Proudly Introduces Knightmare on Wall Street, The Rise and Fall of Knight Capital and the Biggest Risk for Financial Markets, a Behind-the-scenes Look at Knight Capital’s 17 years of Tumultuous Existence as an Independent Company.

New York, NY, USA (December 23, 2013) — Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber both appealed to a wide audience of tweens and their parents. As indicated by Business Insider, benefitting from the Disney marketing machine, Cyrus was Disney TV character Hannah Montana, a regular singer on the Disney channel, a concert performer that recorded albums, and the namesake of the a clothing line launched by Disney in 2007; what worked for the Hannah Montana crowd was not going to work for 20 somethings. The target audience, or lock, had changed so Miley needed to come up with a new edgier image, or key, to remain relevant.

Justin Bieber’s mop-top silky blond hair and boyish smile became his signature, and it worked really well with his target audience, tweens and parents who preferred their kids emulate the wholesome, innocent-looking Bieber over the other choices in the pop world. Similar to Miley, as he approached 20 and his loyal fans grew with him, he needed a new image to fit his changing audience.

Neither of them could ever go back to being cute 15 and 16 year olds again. The best they could do was go after an older, edgier audience and keep their PR machines going. Knightmare on Wall Street, Mr. Edgar Perez’s latest book, a thrilling minute-by-minute account of the terrifying hours following Knight Capital’s August 1, 2012 trading debacle, followed the same marketing philosophy by after his first book, The Speed Traders.

Knight Capital announced a staggering loss of $440 million, after issuing an unprecedented number of erroneous orders into the market, at 9:30 A.M. on August 1, 2012, due to an error in installing new software. What followed after this shocking announcement were several rounds of desperate conversations with a number of vulture players who had smelled opportunity and were readying themselves to pick up bargain-priced pieces. On August 6, 2012, CEO Thomas Joyce confirmed that Knight Capital had struck a deal with Jefferies, TD Ameritrade, Blackstone, GETCO, Stephens, and Stifel Financial, staving off collapse days after the trading mishap. While Knight Capital was back in the game, its limping recovery quickly prompted hungry competitors to bid for the entire company. On December 19, 2012, the board decided to accept an acquisition proposal from GETCO rather than Virtu Financial. For GETCO, acquiring Knight Capital represented a gigantic fast forward step. For Knight Capital, it was the end of its wild ride as an independent entity.

New Product Enclosure: SmartTOP Convertible Top Controllers for Mercedes-Benz SLK and SL by Mods4cars

The add-on SmartTOP Convertible Top modules offered by automotive aftermarket electronics specialist Mods4cars for the Mercedes-Benz SLK and SL roadsters now come standard with the new, exclusive Mods4cars product enclosure. The appearance of the module has been completely revamped to be slimmer and better suited for the purpose. Two LEDs simplify the installation and show the current status. After installing the kit it is possible to operate the top with convenient “one-touch” operation while driving at slow speeds and fully automatically from the original factory remote fob.

Las Vegas, NV (USA), December 23rd, 2013 — The outfit Mods4cars has completely redesigned the appearance of their signature product, the SmartTOP Convertible Top Controller. Effective immediately all shipped kits for Mercedes-Benz SLK and SL now sport the exclusive, custom designed slim-line enclosure. Thanks to its smaller size the module can be installed in even tighter spaces in the car. Due to less plastic and no screws being used, the new design is also more eco-friendly.

With the SmartTOP add-on kit installed, owners of the SLK and SL class convertibles can open or close the top fully automatically from the factory remote key fob. A quick push button combination is all that is needed to start the operation. No changes need to be made to the key fobs. From the center console switch the top can be lowered or raised with one-touch convenience and while the car is moving at slow speeds. It is no longer necessary to hold down the switch. This is a real time saver.

“With days getting shorter it is now more than ever enjoyable to benefit from the last rays of sunlight for the top-down experience. For our customers it’s a breeze. Thanks to the SmartTOP module all they need to do is tap the switch briefly to bring the top down. Once the sun begins to set, another quick tap brings the top back up, no need to pull over and keep holding that switch.” says PR-Manager Sven Tornow.

Apart from these main features each SmartTOP product comes with a host of bonus features to make the roadster lifestyle more enjoyable. On Mercedes SLK R171 and R172 it is possible to raise the small rear windows while the top is down. It is possible to activate an extended mode which will not interrupt an ongoing top operation when starting or stopping the engine. All models dramatically increase the range of the remote operation by using RF instead of IR signals and make it possible to activate the top from a long distance. All features are individually programmable and each module comes with a main switch to temporarily disable the entire product while retaining all user configurable settings.

“The names Mods4cars and SmartTOP stand for innovation. We continuously work on bringing new features and strive to make installation as simple as possible for our customers.” Sven Tornow continues. All modules come with custom made wiring adapters and harnesses that allow a quick and simple connection to the car electronics. The new enclosure comes with two LEDs which show current status or trouble codes. Each module also comes equipped with a standard USB port which allows firmware updates to be applied, all of which are available online free of charge.

SmartTOP modules are available for Alfa, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Ferrari, Ford, Infiniti, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mini, Nissan, Opel, Peugeot, Porsche, Renault, Volkswagen and Volvo. Almost all modern convertibles and roadsters are supported. SmartTOP kits are available for the following Mercedes-Benz models: SLK (R170, R171, R172), SL (R129, R230, R231), E-Class Convertible and CLK Convertible.

The kit for Mercedes SLK and SL is available from 249 Euros + tax.

About Mods4cars:
Mods4cars was founded in 2002 with the idea to add a highly demanded feature to the otherwise almost perfect Porsche Boxster: Comfort One-Touch roof operation while driving at slow speeds. The resulting product offered not only that, but also allowed quick and easy installation by just swapping out a relay box, thus leaving no traces and no permanent changes on the vehicle. The first SmartTOP roof controller was born.

The success of their first products in Germany and Europe prompted them in late 2004 to move operations to the USA, to be able to serve the American market as well as all other English speaking countries such as Australia, UK and South Africa from one central location. Their business has grown to a full-fledged international corporation with an office in Las Vegas and a full line of innovative products as well as distributors and installation partners all over the globe.

Being highly specialized in the development and distribution of aftermarket roof- and comfort controllers since 2002 allows them to offer an unsurpassed level of competence and product quality. Their main goal is optimization of each individual product to a maximum in compatibility, usability and intuitive operation. They put greatest effort into development and quality checks of all their products to achieve this goal and meet all expectations of their customers.

The extraordinary success of their products is also based on the great communication with their customers, which usually already starts for each new product during the development and prototyping phase.
