Fulham Receives Class P Listing for 60W LED Drivers from Underwriter Laboratories

This New Class P LED Driver Certification Reduces Cost and Time-to-Market for Luminaire Makers.

Hawthorne, CA, USA — Fulham Co., Inc., a leading supplier of lighting components and electronics for commercial and specialty applications, today announced that its Class P LED Drivers have been listed by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), giving luminaire manufacturers a standardized platform for testing and evaluation of LED drivers. With this UL certification, luminaire manufacturers can develop new products using Fulham’s Class P drivers and reduce cost and shorten time-to-market by virtually eliminating compliance testing.

With this type of UL certification, Fulham can now offer manufacturers Class P LED drivers that can be used as alternates in their products without the need for extensive compliance retesting. Fulham’s first UL listing is for its constant current, 60W LED driver with outputs available from 700mA to 1600mA with 0-10V dimming. Additional LED drivers are expected to be listed in the near future.

UL is the first Standards Development Organization to offer a Class P Driver program for LEDs. The program provides guidelines for evaluation and driver testing with ratings for standardized LED construction.

“Fulham is only the second LED manufacturer to meet the UL standards for Class P driver listing,” said Alvaro Garcia, Product Director, LED and Emergency Drivers, for Fulham. “Our ongoing goal is to help our OEM customers stay ahead of the market. With UL Listing for our Class P drivers we can provide our global partners with units that have been pre-tested for compliance so they can deliver their own luminaires quickly and cost-effectively.”

NanoMarkets Issues New Report Examining Use of Quantum Dots in Lighting and Displays

NanoMarkets today announced the release of its new report, “Market Opportunities for Quantum Dots in Lighting and Displays.”

Glen Allen, Virginia (September 25, 2013) — Industry analyst firm NanoMarkets today announced the release of its new report, “Market Opportunities for Quantum Dots in Lighting and Displays.” In the report the firm states that quantum dots (QDs) will create significant opportunities for electronics manufacturers in the coming years through their ability to enable the creation of higher value intermediary products. Furthermore, the arrival of QDs will pose a significant threat to OLED displays and lighting.

Additional details about the report are available at: http://www.nanomarkets.net/market_reports/report/market_opportunities_for_quantum_dots.

About the Report:
This new NanoMarkets report provides an in depth market analysis of the opportunities emerging within the field of quantum dots (QDs), examining the latest products, strategies and technical developments in electronics applications for these emerging materials. Within the report we assess how QDs are likely to penetrate addressable markets in lighting and display applications and along what time horizon. We also examine the technology hurdles facing QDs broader adoption and how the industry will resolve them. The report also evaluates the potential of QDs vs. competing technologies and provides NanoMarkets opinions on how well QDs will fare.

The report also includes NanoMarkets’ assessments of the strategies of leading firms active in the QD space with attention paid as to which are the companies to watch in the market. In addition, detailed and granular forecasts of QD shipments in volume and value terms and by application will be provided.

From the Report:
The value of quantum dot material will be less than $200 million in 2018 growing to $560 million by 2020. Yet there are immediate opportunities to create and sell higher value-added intermediary products using QDs. An example here is 3M’s Quantum Dot Enhancement Film (QDEF) which is designed to make it easier for display makers to enhance existing backlighting units (BLUs) with QDs. There is also potential for distinguishing QD products at the material level by adding tunability or making them cadmium-free. High-performance blue QDs will also find a ready market.

TVs, cell phones and notebooks with QD-enhanced LCD displays are already being sold, with Sony, LG, Samsung and Sharp backing this technology. NanoMarkets expects that such products will clock up a healthy $10.5 billion at retail as early as 2016. While some big display firms are doing their own R&D, most are licensing the technology from startups such as QD Vision, Nanosys, Nano Photonica, and Nanoco Group.

Light-emitting QDs may eventually prove a serious challenge to OLEDs in the future. OLED displays are being promoted because of their excellent color and suitability for flexible displays; attributes that QDs can match. However, light-emitting QDs promise better power efficiency with the same level of color purity. In addition, QD emitters do not become burned out in the way that OLEDs do. Although, displays using emissive displays have not shipped yet, by 2018 they are expected to reach $7.3 billion at retail.

Ligne Roset Sponsors the Wanted Design NYC

APR 28, 2011 /RTPR/ — Ligne Roset is proud to announce its sponsorship of the Wanted Design NYC, a fresh and exciting addition to Design Week, held in New York City. This creative platform for international designers, architects, and manufacturers to discuss and share exciting, inspiring and innovative ideas will take place from May 13 through May 16.

Ligne Roset will be honored by the presence of Philippe Nigro, who will present some of his pieces introduced earlier this year at IMM and Maison et Objet.

Creations designed by Philippe Nigro include Inseparables and T.U., and some of the new pieces making their debut Stateside will be Passio, Cuts and Stripes. Inseparable is a multifunctional piece which can act as a sofa end table, seat or simply a foot rest. The table can be slotted into the footstool or kept separately. The T.U. table also demonstrates a versatile quality as it has reversible top panels which can be flipped to show different materials and colors or can be altered in terms of width and height to suit the room or occasion. The sofa Passio is the introduction to our new outdoor collection. Its inventive design was conceived for indoor living, but the choice of materials allows it to be enjoyed outdoors. Nigro’s signature themes of intersections and interlocking elements are apparent in the arms and back. His passion for repetition and variation continues with the bookcase Cuts and with the pendant lamp Stripes.

In conjunction with Wanted Design, Ligne Roset’s Soho showroom will decorate its window with Ploum, one of the most exciting pieces to come out of IMM Cologne 2011. Designed by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, this will mark the first time Ploum will be seen in North America.

Inga Sempé,

Ligne Roset is also proud to congratulate designer Inga Sempé, who was recently recognized at the 9 th Annual Elle Decoration International Design Awards (EDIDA). She won the Seating Category with her Ruché sofa and was also named Designer of the Year. This innovative sofa gets its name from the technique of gathering or pleating material and has a solid wood structure.

Ligne Roset
