Brainloop Provides Secure Collaboration on iPads and Smartphones

Brainloop today announced that it has added further features to its Brainloop Mobile for iPad and Brainloop Mobile for Smartphones solutions due to the continuing strong demand for security solutions on mobile devices.

The browser view has been tailored to smartphone screens and enables users to view documents using the device’s browser.

The new Brainloop Mobile app for the iPad now lets companies configure synchronization so that users can more easily download documents from the Brainloop portal and read them offline. If they have the appropriate permissions, they are also able to send documents securely from their iPad using a link. The familiar folder structure of the Brainloop solution is reproduced on the mobile device, enabling users to quickly find the documents they need. Mobile users can also receive a link to a file by email and read the document directly simply by clicking on the link. The same applies to Brainloop Mobile for Smartphones, which provides an easy-to-read view of a document on the phone’s screen and is available for iPhones with OS 4.2 or higher and the Safari browser, as well as for Android phones with OS 2.3 and the standard browser.

Brainloop White Paper Looks at Secure Document Sharing

The company selected the Brainloop Secure Dataroom, a web-based Document Compliance Management solution, following a rigorous evaluation process and now uses it to complement its existing procedures for sharing documents with staff from other companies. The easy yet secure access to documents over the Internet, along with the guaranteed protection while sharing sensitive information, were just two of the reasons for RWE’s decision to use Brainloop’s high-security, cloud-based service.

Company departments and business units throughout the RWE group are now able to order their own access to a data room. Boston, MA, December 01, 2010 — Recent disclosures of State Department documents by WikiLeaks point to an alarming need for both government and industry to look closer at document security technology and online collaboration platforms.

On Sunday, November 28, WikiLeaks.org published 251,287 confidential documents of which more than 100,000 are classified from 274 U.S. foreign embassies around the world and the U.S. Secretary of State’s office. It is considered the largest set of leaked Government classified documents ever to be made public. More than 15,000 of these communication cables are classified Secret.

By Monday the White House instructed federal departments to take immediate steps to try to “prevent any future WikiLeaks-like disclosures” and ordered agencies to review the way they handle secret, sensitive information.

“The recent irresponsible disclosure by WikiLeaks has resulted in significant damage to our national security,” wrote director of the Office of Management and Budget Jack Lew, in a memo posted on the OMB website.

Referring to WikiLeaks, Lew wrote: “Our national defense requires that sensitive information be maintained in confidence to protect our citizens, our democratic institutions, and our homeland. Protecting information critical to our nation’s security is the responsibility of each individual who is granted access to classified information.”
