MAX Agency Press Release – October 29, 2014

Featured in this week’s press release is MAX Agency Toronto Actor and Talent Frank Vaz.

Toronto, ON, November 01, 2014 – Featured in this week’s press release is MAX Agency Toronto Actor and Talent Frank Vaz. I asked Frank to tell us about himself and discovered some very interesting things about this Military Man turned Model/Actor.

“I was in the Canadian Military for twenty-two years. I’ve also done a lot of community and technical work, technical meaning engineering work that has helped the community and I won the Governor General’s Award for that. So that’s on the career side. Personally, I’ve done a lot of traveling. I studied Engineering in Alberta and through the Military in addition to in-house training and courses that deal specifically with military tactics. We go through a bunch of different technical courses including Physicals and Marksmen tests to ensure we are maintaining an excellent physical standard. My twenty-two years with the military included twelve years in the United Nations and the remainder was done with Special Forces and Elite Airborne Engineers. Between 1990 and 1995 I was a part of the Prime Minister’s security detail, specifically Jean Chretien, Brian Mulroney and Kim Campbell’s staff team and I accompanied Jean Chretien to Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Mexico.”

It is safe to say becoming an actor and a model is something completely new for Frank. I asked Frank how he decided to join MAX Agency.

“I was scouted at an event. We were chit chatting with the scout and she asked me if I’ve ever tried modeling? She said, ‘I work for MAX Agency and we’re looking for middle aged men from different ethnic categories. Would that be something you’d like to try?’ A couple of weeks later I got a call, arranged to get my portfolio done and became a part of MAX. It’s been great and I certainly don’t regret it. I know my success will be due to my agent.”

Frank is very optimistic about his career in the entertainment industry and it is something he plans to do for the rest of his life. Frank went on to tell us about his last project,

“Project drugstore was a print and commercial campaign for Shoppers Drug Mart. The print component was exciting. They had to take several shots and we did many wardrobe changes to get different looks. It was in the Harbourfront area of Toronto. The staff, stylists, production and photography team were great. It was relaxed and I didn’t feel like I was in a print shoot. I got to wear different glasses and ties and I got to smile a lot. There was good chemistry on the set and the overall project turned out really nice.

The commercial component required a lot of takes and it was in the early hours of the morning. It was a typical shoot with a lot of lights and a lot of changes with different takes and props and no props. We had thirty-six or some odd outtakes like what you might see on you tube. They fed us and made sure we were hydrated. Everyone was smiling. The commercial director was around us and very concerned making sure we were alright. Everything turned out pretty good.”

Frank is very happy with his experience in the industry so far and looks forward to continued success in the business,

“I’m very happy with MAX. I feel it’s a part of my family and the Agency that will propel me into the industry. I want more auditions and parts, modeling, videos, different genres and more exposure because I enjoy it so much. More modeling would be nice and if given the right opportunity I think I’m sure I can do them proud. I see myself doing some major roles that will have an impact.”

MAX Agency Press Release – October 19, 2014

Featured in this week’s press release is MAX Agency model talent Meaghan Ritola.

Toronto, ON, October 19, 2014 – Meaghan’s education is centered on Journalism and broadcast television and although she has done some acting she is in the midst of preparing to audition for Acting programs a various schools,

“Right now I’m in journalism at Guelph-Humber University. It’s helped me a lot because obviously I wanted to go into broadcast television. It has definitely made me more confident because we get to actually work with the cameras at our school and we get to use the broadcast room. My professors have helped me come out of my shell. Because of MAX it helped me figure out what I really want to do which is acting.”

Where would you like to study acting?

“I am hoping to get into the acting for film and television program at Humber. It’s a practical program so I’d be taking a whole completely new course. I am also applying to other acting programs.”

Meaghan’s enthusiasm for the industry and willingness to do every kind of acting project available to her including unpaid work to build up her reel led me to suggest Randolph Academy which specializes in the triple threat approach of singing, dancing and acting. What experience in the industry have you had so far?

“My internship has helped me. I interned with Bell Media at Space Channel and I got to see the production side of things and I got to help out on the show called Innerspace. I got to help out at the MMVA’s which was great! I was also able to help with CTV Upfronts where they have all the stars come in and pitch what their going to do for the next year. I love the show Vampire Diaries and the guy that played Elijah was there and the girl who plays Penelope from Criminal minds was there. So you really get a behind the scenes look”

Surprised Meaghan is only twenty-one years old and already graduating she went on to talk about her acting experience so far,

“I took acting classes out of high school and I took acting classes at my local community centre and we got to make audition tapes which was really cool. It was similar to the talent workshop we did with MAX Agency Toronto.”

With a lot of education and a bit of acting training Meaghan was approached by a MAX Agency Model and Talent Toronto Scout and decided to sign up. How have things been so far and what are your plans for the future?

“I’ve just auditioned with MAX so far. I’ve only auditioned. No parts. I’d love to join ACTRA. But for now I’m willing to do unpaid work for experience and basically ready to audition for anything and get some parts. I’m hoping to get some more experience. I have television broadcast experience but I really want to act.”

MAX Agency Press Release – September 30, 2014

Ellen has been a part of the film industry for most of her life through the film centre, as a fundraiser and more recently as an actress.

Toronto, ON, September 30, 2014 – Featured in this week’s press release is MAX Agency Toronto talent Ellen Nichols. Ellen has been a part of the film industry for most of her life through the film centre, as a fundraiser and more recently as an actress. I asked Ellen how she got started in the business,

“The only contact I’ve really had with the business was through the film centre. I was their main fundraising person and the construction manager. That was my involvement. I would be asked to step in to do acting for auditions. One day I would be playing a four year old kid and the next an old lady.”

I asked Ellen who she knows in the business and how she met them,

“I ended up being a fundraiser for different charities. The film centre made me a lifetime member and I would speak at events. I introduced Martin Scorsese for The Last Temptation of Christ. I met Robert De Niro in the lobby and escorted him to his seat and another time I introduced Meloche Bohrman. I know Norman Jewison, the actor Gordon Pinsent, Rod Steiger, Liza Minelli and Beau Bridges. I picked up Nicholas Cage and Olympia Dukakis from the airport and took them to their hotel. I met Atom Egoyan and Christopher Plummer when they came to town for the first fundraiser for the Film Centre and I recently auditioned for Atom through MAX for a movie starring Christopher Plummer. I even ate a hamburger with Dennis Hopper.”

How did you join MAX Agency?

“I’ve only been involved in this with MAX because my granddaughter said I should do this. While I was involved with the island airport dispute I was scouted on the street. The scout stopped me and took pictures of me and I remember I had on a fedora, I had on a hat and I gave her my cell phone number. I got a call from MAX Models Toronto and they signed me up and they sent me to the photographer and to an acting class. I had to wait a while because I fell on my elbow and needed surgery so as soon as I got through that I started the acting lessons and they started putting my name forward.”

What acting had you done before joining MAX Agency?

“I haven’t done that many things. For MAX I’ve done a Kevin Drew Video, a retirement video for Riviera, a commercial for Fortnight lingerie so far with MAX. I got the part for a little short film where my character was running off with her ex-boyfriend, I was also in a feature length film and there is another film I’m supposed to be in that hasn’t been shot yet.”

Ellen has more experience in the business than she leads us to believe and she is very optimistic about her future in the business and how things have been so far, “I’ve never made a living as an actor, I sort of fell into this and the more the better. I think if I can just get in the door I can get the part. I’ve been really happy with MAX Agency!”

MAX Agency Press Release – September 13, 2014

Max Agency has recently welcomed new Toronto Model and Actor including future Toronto high fashion and runway model Helen Rudnicki.

Toronto, ON, September 13, 2014 – Max Agency has recently welcomed new Toronto Model and Actor including future Toronto high fashion and runway model Helen Rudnicki. I asked Helen why she decided to pursue modeling and become a part of MAX Agency.

“I thought it would be something fun to do. I was always told I should be a model, I guess that’s what all tall girls are told, so when I was approached I thought it would be something fun to try. It’s a great opportunity. It’s not something everyone can do or is able to do so I thought I should see what it’s all about. It’s a really interesting industry with a lot of aspects to it. I thought it would be interesting and cool to give it a try.”

Helen is currently studying archeology and anthropology in University and I asked her where her education stands in relation to the industry, what she has done so far and what she is doing right now to better herself as an artist, “I’ve been looking into doing some more acting classes but I haven’t found a place to study, I’m doing lots of yoga and I’m thinking of doing some kickboxing classes with my sister to spend some time with her and stay active.”

I had the pleasure of conducting this interview with Helen in person as opposed to over the phone so I asked what brought her into MAX Agency on this particular day, “I came in to get some measurements done and some body shots so all of my information would be up to date.”

Helen had her Polaroid photo shoot done at MAX Agency and her measurements taken and recorded for future reference to be used as a template to keep the models info up to date. I asked Helen what her other photo shoots have been like, “I’ve only done my portfolio shoot and a few shoots with my friends. I did a nude shoot with one of my friends for fun to see how comfortable I was and what my level of fitness would allow me to do and I’ve had two auditions, one to play Audrey Hepburn and the other was a runway parody using real runway models.”

In addition to going to University Helen also works as a bartender and server, “I love to cook. I’m gluten, rice, egg and dairy free. I love cooking and I love to do yoga.” After graduation Helen sees herself getting in to the raw food industry, “I have a lot of food restrictions and allergies and it made me realize how unhealthy people are in general. I also plan to do more modeling and acting.”

The purpose of Helen’s visit to MAX Agency was particularly for consideration for International submissions to experience the industry from another part of the world so I asked Helen where she would like to go,“In the world I’ve always loved to travel. I would love to go to South America. Anywhere in the world except for places that aren’t safe right now. I’ve always wanted to go to Greece. I would love to do runway, editorial, underwear and Victoria secret kinds of things. I enjoyed The Talent Shop Academy. I’ve always loved to perform and it’s something I would seriously love to stay involved in.”

It sounds like things have been pretty good for Helen with MAX Agency so far, “Things have been good. I’ve been submitted for lots of roles, keeping contact is really good. I’m excited to keep going and see where it goes.”

MAX Agency Press Release – September 04, 2014

MAX Agency has met and recruited Toronto Models and Toronto Actors from all walks of life. We spoke with Myles Deck, a Toronto MAX Talent.

Toronto, ON, September 04, 2014 – MAX Agency has met and recruited Toronto Models and Toronto Actors from all walks of life. We spoke with Myles Deck, a Toronto MAX Talent. Myles moved to Toronto a couple of years ago after graduating from University to pursue his music career when he was scouted on the street, “I’d always get comments about pursuing modeling and background acting and two years ago one of the MAX Agency scouts ran into me and gave me a card. So I took the chance and signed up with them.”

I asked Myles about his education aside from his degree in biology from Acadia University and asked if he has studied acting and he had this to say,

“I’m considering taking acting classes. I am a musician. I’m a drummer primarily but I dabble in different areas of music. I started playing piano when I was a little kid and the guitar and I teach little kids music as well. I’m in a band right now. It’s a heavy metal band called Cauldron and we just started working on a new album. It will be a self release.”

Myles was a newcomer to the acting and modeling world when he came to MAX Agency a few years ago and we asked how things have been with MAX Agency so far, “So far I’ve had a few auditions and I got a job doing a commercial for Jose Quervo titled ‘Have a Story’ and it starred Kiefer Sutherland. It was very professional on the set and there was always someone there to tell me where I needed to be. It was very organized. They looked after the actors’ petty well and they kept who the star was a secret and then Kiefer Sutherland walked into the room and the energy changed.”

As a result of being cast in the Jose Quervo commercial Myles Deck was able to earn his first ACTRA credit and become an ACTRA Apprentice, “I thought about joining the union for sometime. I got some literature and read up on it and thought may be it would open some more doors.”

Beyond Myles commercial which has become a wild success and has resulted in some pretty handsome residuals Myles is optimistic about making Toronto acting and Toronto modeling a part of his career alongside music and Arts and Entertainment as a whole, “Things have been good with MAX and very professional overall. I would love to take the free acting course with The Talent Shop Academy and I’m looking forward to more auditions.”

MAX Agency Press Release – August 26, 2014

Max Agency has recently welcomed new talent including future high fashion and runway model Juliana Meloche.

Toronto, ON, August 26, 2014 – Max Agency has recently welcomed new talent including future high fashion and runway model Juliana Meloche. I asked Juliana how she got started in the business and she had this to say, “I was approached by MAX Agency on the street. My family was always telling me to get into Modeling, because of my height and my looks, that it was something I should try. I didn’t really think about it until I was approached by MAX Agency. Honestly I’m really focused on school right now but MAX has made everything really easy.”

After being scouted on the streets of Toronto for Modeling and thinking about the approach for a while, Juliana decided to pursue the opportunity and apply through the MAX Agency website. I asked her what it was like in the beginning and she said “It was fairly easy. I went online with the card thing, the max business card, took a couple pictures of myself, filled out the online modeling application and they called me within a day and I made an appointment.”

What was your first appointment like and who did you meet?

“I met with Kamran first. I decided to get the whole package and we looked at our options and we agreed. The photo shoot was a lot of fun. It was a great experience and the people I was working with were great. It was my first time, they made it super easy and it was a lot of fun for me. Then we came in to look at our photos. The Toronto MAX Agency modeling agent helped us choose the photos for my composite cards. When I got my composite cards I thought they looked really good. The orientation was good and MAX Agency has made everything so easy for me. It was effortless.”

Juliana is a Toronto model but she will also be pursuing Toronto acting and was required to take the free acting class through The Talent Shop. Juliana is pursuing higher education and she had this to say about the introductory acting class, “I liked it. I did. I liked all of the people I worked with. Everyone was really nice. It was great to work with Andy. I learned a lot. I had never pictured myself doing acting before but I thought, it’s something I think I can do. I’m a Toronto model doing an Arts and Science degree thinking about majoring in Ethics, Society and Law.”

MAX Agency is really happy to have Juliana as on of their top models. Juliana definitely has a promising future with a great agency, “I am looking forward to seeing where this whole thing takes me. You guys have been so awesome. You’ve been great. Everyone I’ve worked with has been great.”

In May, AutoAAN commissioned a study to gauge the impact this could have. Over 400 people were surveyed, and the results showed that 42 percent of voicemail users didn’t know how much they were paying. On top of that, over 45 percent would switch to AutoAAN if they didn’t have to pay for voicemail again. If 10,000,000 voicemail users made the switch, they could save over $600 million a year (by replacing a $5 monthly plan.)

On top of the savings, AutoAAN has additional features that your standard voicemail is missing. There are no limits on how many messages you can store or how long they can be, and they never expire. When the phone rings, you can choose from one of 12 “contextual greetings” to play for the caller. Instead of your standard “I’m not here, leave a message,” you can let them know you’re in a meeting, at a restaurant, or watching cat videos.

Founder Daniel Feuer is a serial entrepreneur and a mentor to young entrepreneurs and his hope is that AutoAAN will end the expensive voicemail monopoly. “Our app is the first that puts the control of voicemail where it should be, with the phone owner. No longer will anyone be dependent on their carrier for an under-powered and over-priced answering machine,” said Feuer. “Aside from the practical cost savings, callers can now have context as to why they received voicemail and when the call will be returned. AutoAAN will do for voicemail what VOIP did for long-distance by providing competition and savings.”

AutoAAN’s Indiegogo campaign lasts until July 10 and is flexible, meaning that any funds contributed will go toward the project. The app is expected to be released in September 2014.

New NeverLate Online After Party Application Lets People Connect on Facebook

A new Facebook online dating application is giving partygoers a second chance to connect with people they saw at a bar or nightclub, but didn’t get an opportunity to meet.

Miami, FL, Thursday – July 07, 2011 — A new Facebook online dating application is giving partygoers a second chance to connect with people they saw at a bar or nightclub, but didn’t get an opportunity to meet.

Called NeverLate, the online after party app puts a high-tech spin on following up with people. It allows users to find someone they may have seen at a bar/club on Facebook, chat with them at the virtual bar, send virtual drinks and more. “This is a great solution for many people who are looking to meet new people who they already saw and (almost) shared an evening with at the same place,” said Sean Ben-Shmuel, president of N.L. Corporation, the app’s creator.

So exactly how does the online after party app work? The application contains a list with nightclubs and bars all over the world. All users need to do is search for the club they attended, connect to its page and see who is also connected to the same club. They can tag themselves in that club, so anyone who connects to that club in the next 48 hours will be able to find them and view their Facebook profile or send them a message.

Here’s an example of how the Facebook online dating app can be used: Let’s say someone went clubbing, saw a cute girl or guy, shared good eye contact-but never initiated a conversation. Then after they went home, they regretted not speaking to the person and wanted to see them again. Now with the new online after party app, they have a chance to get in touch with that person. “You just connect to NeverLate application on Facebook with your profile, find the club you went to and see if she/he is online or is tagged in the same club page,” Ben-Shmuel explained. “Or you can just tag yourself, so the person can find you there in the next 48 hours.”

The NeverLate online after party app is designed to make the experience of online dating more real and thrilling. It is also a great platform for club and bar owners to advertise their venue. Registered venues have a private zone in the online after party application with photos, a guest book and reviews, upcoming events, and other information about their establishment.

The development of the new Facebook app combines the popularity of online dating and Facebook with traditional clubbing. With Facebook having millions of users worldwide, the app has the potential to impact a broad audience of people who visit the site each day. The NeverLate Facebook app is effectively leveraging social media to bring people together in a unique and exciting way.

The NeverLate online after party app can be accessed at apps.facebook.com/neverlate or by searching for “neverlate” on the Facebook app search. Club owners can register for the app for just $20 a month at www.fbneverlate.com. For more information, please visit www.fbneverlate.com or contact Sean Ben-Shmuel directly at (305) 890-5289.
