Halo Publishing International Celebrates 15 Years of Service!

In the past fifteen years over 1,000 authors have successfully published and distributed their books into the hands of readers worldwide thanks to Lisa Michelle Umina and her exceptional team at Halo Publishing International.

San Antonio, TX (USA), June 3rd, 2017 — In the past fifteen years over 1,000 authors have successfully published and distributed their books into the hands of readers worldwide thanks to Lisa Michelle Umina and her exceptional team at Halo Publishing International.

“We are exceedingly proud of the accomplishments of our authors over the past 15 years,” said Umina, founder and publisher at Halo Publishing International. “I started the business out of my basement as an author looking for a vehicle to help publish and distribute my own children’s book Milo Finds His Best Friend. Thanks to front page coverage in the Sun Times, Northeast Ohio, I began receiving calls from writers interested in publishing their books and my business took off.”

Halo Publishing International publishes a variety of genres including children’s, self-help, spiritual, adult and young adult fiction and poetry. The team at Halo helps authors from manuscript to book in hand.

“We work closely with each author to help them build their individual author platform which goes beyond the layout and editing of the book,” explains Umina. “We also help with distribution in hardcover, paperback and e-book version, social media promotion, book launch and book signing events, creating book trailers and submitting their book for a variety of national, regional and genre awards.”

Halo has had the honor of publishing books for a wide range of authors, from up-and-coming, award-winning authors to famous writers and national speakers, such as:

* Gustavo Gomez, “Private Money Lending” 5-time book award winner
* Tererai Trent, Oprah Winfrey’s Favorite Guest, “Zandi Finds Ubuntu”
* JJ DiGeronimo, Award-winning author, “The Working Woman’s GPS”
* Darryl Turner, Author of the best-selling book, “Uncommon Sense”
* Denise Zarrella, News Anchor with WOIO, author of “Not Even The Sky Is The Limit”
* Lori DeMonia, Award-winner of the Temple Grandin Outstanding Literary Work of the Year
* Yolnette Belinda, Award-winner of the 2017 Mom’s Choice Award
* Todd Bierman, Award-winner of the Small Christian Publisher Award

“One of our first authors wrote Imagine…Amazing Me which was inspired by Libbi Chilia’s daughter Sami, who has a limb deficiency,” said Umina.” Libbi’s book has been an inspiration for parents and children around the world, helping to dispel any misconceptions about people with disabilities. It is authors like Libbi, who have an amazing story to share, that bring such joy and meaning to all of us at Halo Publishing.”

The Halo motto is “If There’s a Book in Your Head…It’s Time to Get it in Your Hands” and Lisa and her team go above and beyond to help make that happen. Recently Lisa worked one-on-one with first time published author, Laura Brewster, a young adult with autism. Laura had written a book about her beloved dog Genevieve and Lisa helped her refine the story, work with an illustrator and publish the book.

“I am so very blessed to have the opportunity to work each day with a variety of amazing authors from around the world,” said Umina. “What sets Halo apart from other self-publishing houses is the fact that I am available to talk with the authors personally. I have years of experience as a publisher and can answer their questions and allay their fears, but I am also an award-winning author. I know what they are feeling. I have been in their shoes.”

What is next for Halo Publishing International? “We are continually working to build our team and marketing services so that we have the resources authors need to help them bring their book to the masses,” said Umina. “Some of our authors have been with us from the beginning and continue to write and publish more books and win awards and we want to help them celebrate and give them a platform so they can be heard.”

The e-book phenomenon is also a great vehicle for authors connecting with their readers. Electronic books can be downloaded in under a minute which helps facilitate the reader of today’s growing need to have what they want, when they want it; now.

New All-Natural Supplement Proven to Help Prevent and Heal Liver Conditions

Highly-regarded company Kyotsujigyo Inc. recently introduced Yojyo Henshi Ko to markets outside of Japan, offering a natural-based liver supplement that is clinically proven to improve liver health.

Tokyo, Japan, June 3rd, 2017 — Highly-regarded company Kyotsujigyo Inc. recently introduced Yojyo Henshi Ko to markets outside of Japan, offering a natural-based liver supplement that is clinically proven to improve liver health.

Yojyo Henshi Ko, known as YHK, has a patented formula specifically geared toward being as natural as possible. The formula consists of the following powerful herbs: panax pseudo ginseng, euccommia ulmoides, licorice root and rhizoma polygonati. These ingredients are known in nature to have strong anti-oxidant and healing effects in the body. “Yojyo Henshi Ko is the liver therapy of nature,” said Kyotsujigyo Hong Kong Branch Manager James Ma. “Our company has more than 25 years of experience in inventing healing supplements, and YHK is one that is specifically designed for liver recovery.”

With more than 30 different clinical scientific studies conducted and many research papers published, YHK is the most advanced liver protection supplement currently available. The scientific-based supplement holds patents in the United States, Canada, Japan, Europe and China. “Our product is suitable for people with all kinds of liver problems and conditions, especially for those who have chronic liver problems,” Ma said.

Published research data collected by the U.S. National Library of Medicine (PubMed.gov) indicates that YHK can help treat and prevent NASH. NASH, Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (a type of fatty liver disease), is becoming increasingly common for people who do not consume large amounts of alcohol. It is predicted to be the leading cause of liver transplants by the year 2020. This condition is caused by liver inflammation and damage due to the buildup of fat in the liver. The damage causes the liver to not work as well as it should. Additionally, NASH can cause scarring on the liver and lead to cirrhosis. Clinical data shows that YHK can strengthen and recover liver function and lower the ALT liver enzyme level.

Currently, there is no known medical treatment for NASH, which makes YHK a unique and viable option for people who suffer from liver problems. “When YHK is taken as directed, enzyme levels will lower and normalize,” said Ma, explaining YHK’s immediate results. “More than ninety percent of chronic liver disease patients saw liver improvement after 14 days of use.”

YHK has received a great deal of positive consumer feedback on its website. Customer reviews claim that the supplement does precisely what it guarantees to do, produces life-changing results, and improves health and liver function. Since it is composed of all-natural ingredients, YHK is safe to take with other medicines.

Professionally-recommended, YHK can strengthen and repair liver cells; recover and protect liver function; help the liver function properly; and prevent further damage—all with no health side effects. It is considered to be safe for long-term use.

Consumers can also experience the following benefits when taking YHK as suggested:

* Improved energy level
* Better appetite
* Improved sleep
* Improved skin
* Reduced side effects from other medications.
* Enhanced immune system
* Reduce risk of liver cancer

5 Gyres Partnering with Forward Reality on Groundbreaking VR Project

“The Pacific Garbage Patch, A Seagull’s Perspective” will educate millions on the impact of plastic pollution.

Carlsbad, CA, USA — 5 Gyres is partnering with Forward Reality, as an advisor on a Virtual Reality (VR) project to educate people about the serious issue of plastic pollution in our oceans.

The “Pacific Garbage Patch – A Seagull’s Perspective” is a VR experience, that focuses on the Pacific Garbage Patch and the effects of plastics on marine and bird life. It is a compelling interactive experience that brings this critical issue to people’s attention.

Users will view the Pacific Garbage Patch, its origins and affected regions, from the perspective of a Seagull, with voice over narration that explains the content and issues. By viewing multiple locations (the gyre, Midway Island, plastic factories, fish market) players can understand the origin of this plastic garbage, the impact it has on the world around us and the steps they can take to help solve the problem.

Sherri Cuono, CEO of Forward Reality stated “We’re pleased to have the participation of the 5 Gyres Institute on this important project, their expertise on this issue is invaluable”. She added, “Forward Reality will be launching this experience in museums worldwide as well as making it available to the public on multiple VR platforms.”

“Solving the problem of plastic pollution demands innovation,” said Rachel Lincoln Sarnoff, 5 Gyres Executive Director. “We’re honored to share our experience through this exciting new platform to drive awareness and action on this critical issue.”

The “Pacific Garbage Patch – A Seagull’s Perspective” will be released later this year.

ABOUT 5 GYRES
The nonprofit 5 Gyres Institute has been fighting plastic ocean pollution since 2009. Beginning in 2010, 5 Gyres began a series of scientific firsts by researching plastic in all five subtropical gyres, as well as the Great Lakes and Antarctica. In 2014, the organization convened eight scientists around the world to publish the first global estimate of plastic pollution in our ocean: 5.25 trillion particles weighing in at 270,000 tons of “plastic smog” worldwide. 5 Gyres’ paper on plastic microbead pollution in the Great Lakes inspired a two-year collaborative campaign that culminated in a federal ban on microbeads, which President Obama signed into law in 2015. In August, 5 Gyres embarked on its 17th expedition-this time to research microplastics and nanoplastics in the Arctic Circle. More information is at http://www.5gyres.org.

July is National Grilling Month and Honey from Carmel Honey Company Should be One of the Main Ingredients in your Barbecue Recipes

July is National Grilling Month and thoughts turn to juicy steaks, burgers, chicken and vegetables sizzling on the barbecue grill. And honey, of course.

Carmel, CA, May 30, 2017 — July is National Grilling Month and thoughts turn to juicy steaks, burgers, chicken and vegetables sizzling on the barbecue grill. And honey, of course.

Honey? Yes, honey is the sweet, secret ingredient to add a little pizzazz when you break out the barbecue grill this summer.

“This season, I’ve struck sticky-sweet gold with one ingredient that promises to stay in my grilling book for the long haul: honey, honey, honey and more honey,” says noted chef and pitmaster David Guas. “It’s my go-to pantry ingredient for so much cooking, and beyond its all-natural sweet characteristics, it never expires. Seriously, this all-natural bee by-product is my secret weapon when it comes to grilling up a protein that looks great and tastes even better.”

And if you’re going to use honey in your favorite grilling recipes, why not use the all-natural, pure and raw honey from Carmel Honey Company, the brainchild of 14-year-old honey entrepreneur and bee expert Jake Reisdorf.

Carmel Honey Company offers a wide variety of honey, including Meadowfoam Honey, Orange Blossom Honey, Sage Honey, Wildflower Honey, Honey Stix, and pure raw honeycomb.

According to Guas, honey can balance out the acidity in marinades, acts as a mellowing agent and seals in the meat’s juices once it starts to sear on the grill.

Because of its thick consistency, honey should be blended with other liquids such as orange, lemon, lime and pineapple juices, oils and brines so it can stand up to direct heat and act as a natural tenderizer. Guas doesn’t recommend using honey without blending because it will burn up and char before the food is cooked thoroughly.

Honey works as a great binder and thickener when it comes to amping up or sweetening sauces, marinades, dips and dressings, says Guas, author of “Grill Nation: 200 Surefire Recipes, Tips, and Techniques to Grill Like a Pro.”

Guas’ “big grilling-with-honey tip” is to establish two zones on your grill, an indirect heat zone where you can add your honey-juice mixture to your protein to lock in the flavor and moisture and a direct zone where you can quickly sear, carmelize and finish off your protein.

With National Grilling Month in mind, Reisdorf has come up with a tasty recipe using Carmel Honey Company’s golden sweet product: Honey-Soy Grilled Salmon.

Honey-Soy Grilled Salmon

Easy salmon that works great on the grill or the cooktop!

Ingredients

2 tablespoon Carmel Honey Company Wildflower Honey

2 tablespoon packed brown sugar

2 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted

2 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil

2 tablespoon soy sauce

2 clove garlic, finely chopped

1 large salmon fillet (about 2 lbs.), cut into 8 pieces

Directions:

>In small bowl, mix all ingredients, except salmon.

>Place salmon in shallow dish and pour marinade over salmon, flipping to ensure salmon is covered in marinade.

>Cover and refrigerate about 30 minutes, not much longer or salmon may become mushy.

>Remove salmon from marinade and place skin side down on grill.

>Cover and grill over medium heat 10 to 25 minutes. Depending on how you like your salmon. If you’re into grill marks feel free to flip, but only for a few minutes

>Brush a few times with reserved marinade while cooking.

>Discard any remaining marinade.

>Serve with your side of choice and enjoy!

About Jake and Carmel Honey Company:

Jake Reisdorf is the chief beekeeper and owner with his family of Carmel Honey Company, which he started as part of a school project where his teacher assigned professions to each student and directed them to research the profession and build a presentation on it.

While researching his assigned profession of website designer, Jake, 11 years old at the time, decided to take it one step further and actually create a real website. At that time, Jake had taken one beekeeping class with his Dad and thought it would be cool to design a website about honey bees.

Not only did Jake get an “A” on the project, it inspired him and spurred him to start Carmel Honey Company. That was three years ago.

His passion for honey bees grew as he learned about Colony Collapse Disorder and real honey. Expanding his research and education drove Jake to learn more about honey and bees and ultimately decide it was critical to give back.

The “Jake Gives Back” program includes sharing honey bee knowledge with kids and adults of all ages. Whether he is in a classroom speaking to first-grade students, or at a corporate event talking with business owners and seasoned professionals, his passion and appreciation of how honey bees impact our world is infectious. He also “gives back” by making a financial donation to honey bee research and education organizations.

Jake currently attends 8th grade at Carmel Middle School and keeps his knowledge of apiology (the scientific study of bees) current by continuing to manage his own honey bee hives and attending industry conferences throughout the country.

Premium Indoor Cycling Studio CycleBar Westgate West Announces Hiring of New Studio Manager

CycleBar Westgate West, part of an emerging concept in premium indoor cycling, announced the hiring of Robert Whitacre, a veteran of 25 years in the fitness industry, as its studio manager.

San Jose, CA, May 29, 2017 — CycleBar Westgate West, part of an emerging concept in premium indoor cycling, announced the hiring of Robert Whitacre, a veteran of 25 years in the fitness industry, as its studio manager.

After attending Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and San Jose State University, majoring in Kinesiology and Business, Whitacre became a personal fitness trainer. In his 25-year career in the commercial health club industry, Whitacre has held virtually every position possible, including personal trainer, group exercise instructor, fitness manager/director, assistant general manager, general manager, and health club owner.

“I found my passion for health and fitness at an early age where I competed in in both individual and team sports,” says Whitacre. “While training to improve my strength and overall physical fitness, I realized a profound impact on my health, my wellness, and overall happiness. The foundation for this change was exercise.”

Just prior to coming to CycleBar Westgate West, Whitacre was the General Manager of The Bay Club Santana Row and before that Assistant General Manager of The Bay Club Cupertino. Prior to that, he was the owner of two fitness businesses, Whitacre Wellness (for 12 years) and Studio Fit of Willow Glen (for 5 years). He also managed for Club One (previously Ronnie Lott’s Club Fitness) in Almaden.

“While studying Kinesiology and Business in college, I quickly realized that I wanted to dedicate my professional career to the opportunities that would enable me to coach others in not only reaching, but surpassing their own personal health and fitness goals,” he says.

“We are very excited to welcome Robert to our team,” said Don Dasher, owner of CycleBar Westgate West. “He’s very passionate, motivated and dedicated to personal fitness and his longtime experience in the industry speaks for itself. We invite the public to come in, meet Robert and see what CycleBar Westgate West has to offer.”

Even after 25 years in the business, Whitacre is still enthusiastic and ready to take on this new challenge.

“After working with literally thousands of individuals and assisting them to reach their fitness goals, I still remain in the industry with the same passion and vigor in which I started,” he says. “I love what I do and I am fortunate to have been able to make it a both a career and a lifestyle.”
