Raptivity rolls out Annual Licensing option

Redmond, Washington, United States, July 18, 2013 – Raptivity®, the award winning interactivity building tool from Harbinger Knowledge Products, today announced a rollout of the annual licensing model – an alternate software licensing option for its customers.

Raptivity annual license, as the name suggests, is a license that is valid for one year – with the option to renew at the end of the year. The Raptivity license continues to be a desktop license. This pricing option would be available in addition to the perpetual licensing option. Annual licensing option is an attractive option for those eLearning developers who wish to purchase Raptivity, but would rather pay annually from their recurring budget than purchasing the perpetual license by paying full cost upfront. Customers will have the option to convert the annual license to perpetual at any point.

“The Raptivity team understands that in this budget crunched world, customers are struggling to find a balance between obtaining technology solutions to remain productive and keeping expenses in control. This also includes investing in software, which is difficult at times, given the constraints. Raptivity has always been recognized for its customer initiatives and when we got requests from users suggesting that we offer some more pricing options that could fit in their budgets; we paid heed to their demand. With the annual licensing model, we offer our customers a moderate pricing model that would take care of their budget constraints. This licensing option, allows users to deliver high quality interactive learning experience to their learners while also staying within their budget,” said Seema Chaudhary, President, Harbinger Knowledge Products Inc.

With the annual licensing option, customers will enjoy access to Raptivity Himalaya (the complete library of interactions), premium support and free upgrades for a year! It is a complete package for all their interactivity needs. It also entitles customers to some additional benefits like complimentary Raptivity expert hour sessions; live chat support and premium customer portal access.

Renowned eLearning Expert Jay Cross to Headline April 30 Learning Techniques Webinar by Harbinger Knowledge Products and Raptivity Software

Harbinger Knowledge Products, a global leader in interactive eLearning, presentation and website software, announced today that renowned eLearning expert Jay Cross will headline the company’s free learning techniques webinar, “Making Learning Stick,” April 30 at 11 a.m. Pacific Time.

Cross has been called the Guru of Informal Learning and is credited with originating the term eLearning. He is the CEO of the Internet Time Alliance, which helps corporations and governments use networks to accelerate performance. Cross has challenged conventional wisdom about how adults learn since designing the first business degree program offered by the University of Phoenix.

The 60-minute “Making Learning Stick” seminar is designed for anyone responsible for course development and instruction learn innovative techniques that will help students retain knowledge better and enhance their performance. Instructors and course designers in the educational arena, government sector and the corporate world are invited to attend.

According to Cross, as much as 85 percent of what a student learns in the traditional classroom environment is forgotten before it is ever put into practice. “The tragedy of the way many of us were taught for years in school is that you really can’t remember any of it – geometry, Latin, history – after you leave school,” he said.

Part of the problem, Cross said, is that the information was that curriculum was taught in age-old methods more appropriate for training soldiers than students and professionals. And knowledge was retained just long enough to pass a test, but not reinforced and used again in our everyday lives.

So how do you make sure students carry the knowledge home and continue to use it?

In the “Making Learning Stick” webinar, Cross will describe and demonstrate ways to increase knowledge retention and promote memory recall through a variety of innovative techniques and concepts, including informal and formal learning, experiential learning, interactive workscapes, reinforcement, push vs. pull learning, and memory experts’ tricks.

Cross will give an in-depth view of these effective learning techniques and share tips on how instructors can implement them easily into the learning environment.

There will also be a demonstration of Raptivity, the award-winning do-it-yourself eLearning interactivity builder, to show how course designers and instructors can use variety of interactions for memory recall and knowledge retention.

“Using interactive elements in course material has proven to be one of the best ways to truly engage students, keep their attention and help them retain information,” said Seema Chaudhary, president of Harbinger Knowledge Products.

“Raptivity software allows course developers to quickly and easily create engaging learning interactions, including games, simulations, brainteasers, interactive diagrams, virtual worlds and many more.”

During the webinar, there will be a “Best Tips for keeping memories alive” contest for attendees with a variety of prizes, including Jay Cross’ books and Raptivity software.

Raptivity Evolve releases the ‘Drag-Drop-Sort’ interaction for Premium Customers

Raptivity®, the leading rapid interactivity builder tool from Harbinger Knowledge Products, is proud to announce the release of the ‘Drag-Drop-Sort’ interaction. This interaction is the fifth addition to the Raptivity Evolve series, in a span of seven months.

Drag-Drop-Sort enables users to create highly engaging and visually stimulating exercises using the familiar drag and drop concept. This interaction can be used in a variety of creative ways. From simple labeling exercises to sorting and even fill in the blanks exercises, can be put together using this flexible interaction. A seemingly simple interaction, yet very versatile, the Drag-Drop-Sort can be customized to address different learning objectives.

The Drag-Drop-Sort allows up to 25 options to be dragged, which can be text, images or a combination of both. These options get dropped on targets which are also customizable. Along with all the other Raptivity features like media toolbox, color palette, image scaling, HTML5 support and many more, this interaction also provides options for scoring and immediate vs. delayed feedback.

“We are very happy about being able to deliver to customers the value they are looking for. This is another interaction idea that we got from a customer. A customer brought to our attention that Raptivity library did not have a drag & drop that allowed both images and text, and that it would help. We took up that suggestion under Evolve. We encourage more and more Raptivity customers to share their ideas with us on what they would like to see and we will do our best to accommodate their requests.” said Seema Chaudhary, President, Harbinger Knowledge Products Inc.

Using only the Drag-Drop-Sort interaction and a little creativity, instructional designers and course creators will be able to easily create many different interactive exercises from it, such as classification, sequencing, brainteasers, match the pairs and even fill in the blanks.
