VOLUNTOURISM Proves A Hit with the Over 40s as Bookings Rise 51% In 2010

As well as being a popular holiday option for the younger generation, overseas volunteering company Original Volunteers has seen a steady rise in bookings from the over 40’s, especially for locations outside the Euro zone.

Original Volunteers figures show the number of holiday bookings from the over 40’s has doubled over the past 12 month period.

Traditionally viewed as a ‘gap year’ holiday, the ability to Volunteer Overseas has become increasingly fashionable with a generation keen to experience a ‘holiday with a difference’ once children have flown the nest. Additionally, adults seeking a challenge or professionals looking for a worthwhile Sabbatical break are increasingly booking overseas volunteering holidays.

Many choose to travel out of season, when they can provide an essential helping hand on projects when they are quieter, typically in October, March and May.

With volunteering projects starting from as little as £35 per week including accommodation, being able to volunteer abroad is quickly becoming seen as a viable holiday option, particularly in times of recession.

Original Volunteers has close links to over 100 different projects in countries such as Argentina, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Nepal and Thailand, delivering bespoke experiences for each traveller, matching them to a team or cause which suits their personality, skills, aims and goals.

With 80% of volunteers travelling on their own this is the perfect way to meet new like minded people. Travelling in groups of on average five to ten people volunteers often become friends for life and sometimes a little bit more!

Research carried out by The American Express Currency Index has shown an increase in British people choosing long haul destinations as a result of a weakened pound against the US dollar and the Euro. With long haul destination representing better value for money in the currency stakes.

Programmes Director, Caroline Revell comments: “With people starting to count the pennies this is a great way to feel you are getting real value from your holiday. It’s a great way to travel as well as do some of the most crucial charity work you will ever do. Volunteering abroad will help you gain new skills, self-confidence, meet new people, widen horizons, challenge perceptions and, above all, ensure that impoverished or remote communities have the support to develop.”

“The hardest part was going home!” This may sound like the end to most holidays but what if this statement was actually true? How many holidays have you been on that have not only changed your life but also changed someone else’s life for the better?

Original Volunteers is giving people the opportunity to do this in over 18 countries around the world.

Albert Stevenson launches MesotheliomaLawsuitInfo.org : A Mesothelioma Lawsuit Website for victims of toxic asbestos.

January 23, 2011 – Albert Stevenson is very pleased to announce that the website http://mesotheliomalawsuitinfo.org/ has just been released to the public. This website is intended to provide more information about mesothelioma lawsuit. This website has been a source of valuable information recently for those who have been victims of toxic asbestos exposure.

“Filing a lawsuit with the help of a mesothelioma lawyer is your best bet in finding compensation against the pain and suffering you may be experiencing,” says Mr. Stevenson, creator of the website. This is one step in lobbying for the abolition of asbestos use in commercial establishments, a great way to think about one’s health and the well being of others in the future too. End the suffering from exposure to toxic asbestos by finding a place where one can get support from and solicit expert advice from.

Some people are not very aware that the symptoms of asbestos exposure only become evident after 30 to 40 years. By the time that they are diagnosed with the condition, sometimes people feel that it is too late. However, with a sound mesothelioma legal advice that they can get through this website, they will be able to go after the people who are responsible for their exposure to asbestos.

Various symptoms of asbestos exposure occur in different stages in life. It is very important to be able to identify them as soon as possible. Once they have identified any possible symptoms connected to mesothelioma such as persistent dry cough, blood in cough, fatigue and unexplained weight loss, then they should be able to find a mesothelioma law firm immediately to help them with their case.

The website, Mesothelioma Lawsuit Info, can help victims speed up the process of finding an experienced mesothelioma lawyer by providing a compensation evaluation form to fill out so they know quickly if they qualify for compensation.

Doctors point out that mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer. Because of this, mesothelioma lawsuit settlements will be tantamount to a strong case in the court especially if they are able to provide strong evidence and sound arguments. Being able to get an experienced mesothelioma lawyer is a must. The website made by Albert Stevenson will be a great avenue to help them make a strong case and provide them with more information on why they should file a case as soon as possible regarding their condition.

They may visit the website created by Albert Stevenson, http://mesotheliomalawsuitinfo.org/, as a great resource in finding information on mesothelioma lawsuit and other experienced lawyers and law firms that can help them in putting together a settlement in the court.

Christmas 1000 km run | Donate Without Paying

On the 10th of December 2010 from London the SEO Expert Sergej Ponomarjov Latvija Tautai charity organisation leader and kids-charity.co.uk project initiator (originally from Latvia) will start the unique Charity activity. Also in October 2009 Sergej participated in a similar running from Milan to Vatican.

This December activity will include a symbolic running of nearly 1000 km starting from London through Nottingham, Sheffield, Darlington, Lauder and end up in Edinburgh. The planned running time is 15 days (12 hours of running per day approximately) and it will be finished on the Christmas Eve. The runner will be documenting the progress online on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc.

The aim of the activity is to introduce Donate without paying concept which is a new way of helping people without spending time or money and to attract attention to the issue of disabled children in Latvia and around the world who are ignored by governments and social authorities. This run symbolizes that disabled children cannot start building their lives without special care and support to achieve their targets successfully.

As The project initiator Sergej Ponomarjov said;
“I am young and successful SEO professional who might easily live towards my personal comfort and pleasure. Although, knowing the problems and antihuman conditions of disabled children in Latvia where I come from, I find it unacceptable not to act and attract attention of other people and organisations that could support this project to improve living and learning conditions of disabled children. I consider this project towards Latvia as a platform to begin international awareness and to involve other concerned people to take part in this and further projects for other countries. I am sure that charity innovative approach Donate Online without paying will change our world.

“Latvia and its capital Riga is recognised as a civilised culturally fulfilled and European Union mentored country. However, living and education conditions of disabled children are still way under any civilised standards,” Sergej added.

There are about 20 000 handicapped kids in Latvia
More than 80% do not has sufficient medical care
More than 90% do not has social care
More than 50% do not has enough food
More than 20% never been out from their room
More than 40% do not have any friends

What do Charities do With Car Donations?

Many people who donate car to charity hope that the charity will give the car donation to a deserving person. Some charities do give away car donations, but they are in the minority. Those charities only give away cars that are in good condition and run. The reason is because the charity, like a used car dealer, by law can only give or sell a car to a needy person that passes inspection and meet the emission standards.

Most cars that are donated need some type of repair. Many car donations have major body damage or some mechanical problems and are donated because the donor does not want to fix it or cannot afford to fix it. Again, the charity is required to repair the car before they are allowed to donate car or sell it to a deserving person. Often, the cost these repairs is more that the value of the car. That is one of the major reason why most charities sell car donations directly to used car dealers or to parts yards either directly or through auctions.

One of the other reasons, most charities do not donate car is the fear of being sued by the recipient.  If the charity donate car to someone that later breaks down, the charity will may be liable for the repairs. In the worst case scenario, if the recipient gets into an accident with the car which results in injuries, the charity may have some major liability problems.

Another obstacle involved when a charity donate car to someone is the expense of car insurance, title and registration fees, and license plates. The recipient has to be able to afford these items and provide them before they take possession of the car. The charity cannot donate car unless the beneficiary has a valid driver’s license, insurance, license plates, etc.

When you consider the costs and liability issues involved it is not hard to understand why most charities choose not to donate car to needy people. It is not that charities do not want to donate car to people in need; it is that there are too many obstacles involved.
