Christian Novel “The Yoke” Explores Deception, Faith, and Love

As an attorney, faith in the facts and how to present them for the benefit of his clients took precedence in his life. However, all of that came into question when he met Stephanie Schultz.

“Writing this story has been a many year endeavor,” said author Darrell Dunham. “In fact, the original version that I wrote five years ago bears little resemblance to the finished product. As I spent time with the characters and chronicled Barnabas’ journey to turn his life over to God, the story took on a life of its own. Originally the book was based on some of my own experiences questioning my faith and making the decision to put my life in God’s hands. I wanted to create a story that others who are questioning their faith could relate to. In fact, many of the arguments for resisting God that Barnabas shares were direct quotes from my own discussions with others of faith.”

In “The Yoke” readers will be captivated by the story of Barnabas and his nemesis Bill Cushman, who appears to have everything going for him, but who is truly an evil entity with an agenda that will challenge and frustrate our main character. However, at the core, “The Yoke” is the love story of Barnabas and Stephanie and Barnabas and God.

The word “yoke” was originally associated with oxen or work animals and represented a connection between the animal and the farmer. In this book by Dunham, the yoke refers to a number of the relationships Barnabas has in his life; with Bill Cushman, with Stephanie and ultimately with God.

“I reference my favorite scripture as part of the epilogue,” said Dunham.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

Pioneer of Indian Contemporary Dance, Padma Shri Astad Deboo, all set to perform his first solo in over 10 years in Bengaluru, at The Collection, UB City

The 60-minute solo, ‘Eternal Embrace’, in collaboration with renowned Japanese musician Yukio Tsuji will take place on 16 December 2016 at 7 pm.

Bangalore, India, December 11th, 2016 — Padma Shri Astad Deboo, a pioneer in Contemporary Indian Dance, will perform his 60-minute solo, ‘Eternal Embrace’, at The Collection, UB City. The dance, composed in collaboration with Japanese musician Yukio Tsuji, will take place on 16 December 2016 at 7 pm. This is Astad’s first solo performance after a decade in Bengaluru.

With a career spanning almost 50 years, Astad has performed in 70 countries, collaborated with world-famous legends such as Pink Floyd, and worked with the Government of India to celebrate the coronation of the King of Bhutan. For the last two decades, he has worked extensively with disabled artists, and opened the 25th Deaf Olympics Cultural Festival with his ‘Deaf Group’.

‘Eternal Embrace’, choreographed and performed by Astad and composed by Yukio Tsuji, explores the tension between the ephemeral and material worlds. The piece was recently performed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, where it received a standing ovation, with Astad being touted as “a dancing monk”. He is excited about his performance in the city and is gearing up to enthrall his audience with this Sufi-inspired solo, in his signature style of evoking intense emotion.

Sharing his thoughts on his upcoming performance in Bengaluru, Shri Astad Deboo said, “It’s a pleasure to present my latest creation along with my collaborator, Yukio Tsuji. I’m very excited about my performance in UB City.”

“It gives me immense pleasure to present Mr. Deboo’s solo performance in Bengaluru after so many years. He is an icon of Indian Contemporary Dance and has served as a mentor to numerous aspiring artistes, with his striking signature style of modern dance. Bangalore, India, December 8th 2016 — Sublime Galleria and Taj West End present ‘Elite Strokes’, a collection of paintings capturing the essence of natural beauty and human interactions. Created by M.R. Deshmukh, a prolific painter from the heart of the beautiful Sahyadri Mountains, the paintings will be on display from the 09-15 December at The Taj West End and 16-31 December at Sublime Galleria situated on the 8th Floor of The Collection, UB City.

Los Angeles, CA, December 08, 2016 – James Patrick Morgan, the Atlanta-based pop-rock and soul singer/songwriter, releases the first single from his upcoming EP today. This single, titled “Expected,” is the first song on the EP ‘Art + Work = Love,’ which will be released in early 2017 through Cloverland Entertainment. “Expected” is currently available to stream via SoundCloud and will be available to purchase on iTunes and all major digital outlets at the time of the EP release.

Morgan says that “songwriting comes easily” to him, and it’s evident that is true from the opening notes of “Expected.” The Sony Southern Talent Expo winner’s wide ranging influences from blues to soul to pop and soft rock are all given time on the track – from the acoustic verses to the catchy horn lines and soulful vocal harmonies on the chorus. The song features an infectious, danceable groove that carries the listener through the story of two people sharing “one night, two nights, three nights” and eventually falling in love.

‘Art + Work = Love’ is a five-song collection that James Patrick Morgan describes as one that “represents [him] better than most past recordings,” because it captures much more of “what [he does] in a live setting.” The EP was recorded in several legendary studios across the United States such as Los Angeles’ East West Studios, where the Beach Boys recorded many of their hits, and the storied Blackbird Studio in Nashville, TN. Fusion Art’s 2nd Annual “Figures & Faces” International Online Juried Art Exhibition Opened December 1, 2016

Fusion Art is pleased to announce the opening of the 2nd Annual “Figures & Faces” International Online Juried Art Exhibition for the month of December 2016.

Palm Springs, CA, USA — Fusion Art is pleased to announce the opening of the 2nd Annual “Figures & Faces” International Online Juried Art Exhibition for the month of December 2016. The exhibition is now available for viewing on the Fusion Art website (http://www.fusionartps.com).

The “Figures & Faces” exhibition opened on December 1st and featured awards in two categories: Traditional Art and Digital Art & Photography.

For this competition artists and photographers worldwide were encouraged to share their artistic vision and interpretation of the human form – both figures and faces. Artists and photographers, regardless of location or experience, were encouraged to submit.

The Best in Show winners are Joe Horton for his oil on canvas, “Midnight” and Peter Shepherd for his digital photograph, “Sculpture and Artist.”

Both Joe and Peter are Fusion Art’s Featured Artists for the month of December 2016 and, as the Best in Show winners, both artists are also invited to participate in Fusion Art’s 2nd Annual Group Show in Palm Springs, CA, in November 2017.

The remaining finalists in the exhibition, including four Honorable Mention winners – Cliff Kearns, Peter Broitman, Nicholas Teetelli and Chriss Knight, all exemplify uniquely creative talents and we’re once again honored to showcase their artwork on the Fusion Art website.

The international competition received a diverse collection of quality artwork from artists all around the world, including the US, Canada, England, Mexico, Russia, Australia, Spain, Hungary, India, Barbados, Taiwan, The Republic of Korea, the Czech Republic and the United Arab Emirates. The exhibition will be featured on the Fusion Art website until December 31, 2016.

Founded by Award winning artist, Chris Hoffman, Fusion Art, a fine art gallery located in Palm Springs, California, was envisioned and formed out of a passion for art and the artists who create it. They have more potential and will offer more in life than just two sweet little acorns playing in the dirt. “Acorn Gert and Brother Bert” remind us that, just like acorns, we all have seeds of potential, our God-given gifts that are meant to grow into something amazing.

“As the mother of eight wonderful children, each one uniquely their own, I wanted to create a children’s story that would celebrate the individual potential of each child and encourage readers to cherish and nurture their own unique value,” said author Elizabeth Duncan Stretar. “I am hoping parents will be able to use the message of Acorn Gert as a starting point for conversations about potential with their children.”

“Acorn Gert and Brother Bert” is told in rhyme, with a joyful rhythm that children will enjoy and ask to have read repeatedly. The colorful characters, drawn by illustrator Rosemarie Gillen help bring the story to life. At the end of the story Stretar has included additional information to help parents and educators use the story with intention to help discover the untapped talents of children.

“It is important that we talk about the seeds that have been planted in our children from a young age,” said Stretar. “My hope is that the characters will make the story memorable and the importance of discovering each child’s inner purpose becomes a regular conversation with parents and educators.”

Stretar aims help parents nurture their children’s potential and help them grow to become all they were meant to be. To that end, “Acorn Gert and Brother Bert” is meant to be tool to stimulate fun, meaningful conversation between adults and children. It is the first in a series of delightful children’s stories featuring the main acorn characters. In the next edition Acorn Gert – Gets a Brand New Skirt, which will highlight the simple pleasures of playing dress-up and igniting imaginative paly in the lives of children.

Elizabeth Duncan Stretar, graduate of Fuller Theological Seminary, is a wife, mother of eight and grandmother of sixteen (by mid-2017). She is also a flight attendant who writes on the fly and blogs on a wide range of topics. “Sometimes we just need to be reminded that no matter how dark our day is or how negative a relationship may be, there is a ray of positivity if we look for it,” said author Jo Ann Petrucci Andrews. “I wanted to create a book that would help readers remember their strengths, their value and the parts of their life for which they should be most thankful.”
