Future Electronics Promotes PCT2075 Thermal Sensors from NXP

Pointe Claire, Quebec (realtimepressrelease) September 16, 2015 – Future Electronics, a global leading distributor of electronic components, promotes the PCT2075 family of thermal sensors from NXP.

The PCT2075 family of thermal sensors serves a wide range of applications, from precision laboratory grade instruments to safety and maintenance monitoring in many industrial systems, as well as wearables. The heart in each case is the sensor IC, which converts local temperatures to digital data sent over the popular I2C bus. Reliable and repeatable temperature measurement is easy to add to any system using a small footprint mixed-signal IC, called a thermal sensor. The I2C bus (which probably already exists in the design), and a little firmware overhead complete the design. Measurements are made automatically using the well-known Band Gap analog circuit and a high resolution analog to digital converter, all integrated on a single die.

With a temperature measurement range of -25°C to +100°C, a resolution of 0.125°C (11-bits), initial accuracy of ±1°C, very low power consumption of 200μA at 5V, and very small package footprint, thermal sensors excel in even the most demanding applications running on battery power. An added bonus is the shutdown mode, which reduces power consumption to just one micro-amp.

At the other end of the spectrum, for large installations such as cloud storage, servers, and telecom equipment, a thermal sensor IC monitors ambient temperatures. Energy conscious systems can measure temperature rises inside cabinets and plenums, anticipate required air flow, and control variable speed fans that provide cooling while conserving energy. Demand for multi-point temperature measurements, requiring more than one thermal sensor IC, are easily accommodated thanks to expanded addressing for the individual thermal sensors. This is important for applications such as LED backlighting in large LCD panels, blade PCBs with multiple high density and hot ICs, and high speed memory arrays found in emerging solid state drives (SSDs).

The latest thermal sensors offer up to 27 unique addresses using just three address pins on these popular 8-pin devices. When size is a premium the tiny TSOP6 package is only 2.9 x 1.5 x 1.0mm, yet offers three unique addresses, allowing interconnection of multiple devices on the same I2C bus. Mixed-signal IC temp sensors have programmable registers for an over-temperature alarm, with a dedicated hardware output. This feature provides a failsafe system shutdown, even if the communication bus or processor monitoring the thermal sensor is disabled as a consequence of the rising temperature fault condition. A programmable ‘queue’ (number of violations before triggering an alarm) stops nuisance tripping of the alarm when temperatures fluctuate around the set trip point.

Sesame Smart Lock Accommodates New Technology

Palo Alto, CA, April 21, 2015 — /REAL TIME PRESS RELEASE/ — Sesame – the world’s first instant smart lock – is now one of the hottest projects on Kickstarter, which has raised more than one million dollars since launch. Currently, more than 6,000 supporters have backed the project.

Sesame allows users to lock and unlock their doors using the Sesame app on their smartphones. It is the only smart lock that syncs the movement of the lock with the phone, providing exact control of the angle to which the lock turns.

Jerming Gu, the inventor of Sesame, said he wanted to bring the joy of technology to regular people with affordable prices. Sesame is also designed to accommodate the fast changing nature of technology.

In deed, the consumer electronics technology changes year by year. Any users of consumer electronic products – whether it’s a lock or a phone – they will be forced to upgrade the hardware often.

Here are some examples:
1) iPhone 4 (Bluetooth 3.0) is not compatible with iPhone 4S (Bluetooth 4.0);
2) RFID (clipper bus card) is not compatible with NFC (Apple Pay/some credit card);
3) z-wave (most old digital locks) is not compatible with Zigbee (newer digital locks);

“You might want to have a new phone every year but you may not want to construct the door every year just for a newer digital lock,” said Gu.

That’s the problem Sesame is trying to solve.

Now Bluetooth 4.2 is coming, Gu just swapped to the new version 3 Bluetooth chip in mass production.

“Also, the long-distance wireless charging technology is about to hit the market, I feel everything is changing too fast,” said Gu.

With five-patented design, Sesame works with just about any deadbolt in the world. Users can install it in seconds, without replacing existing lock or removing anything. Current model is optimized for US/Canada/northern Europe Markets.

CANDY HOUSE also offers optional access point, which connects Sesame to the Internet when plugged into any nearby outlet. It lets users control Sesame wherever they are.

With Internet connection capability, users can allow guests in remotely. They can also control who has access and when. To ensure safety, the Sesame app also sends out a notification whenever the door opens or closes.

About CANDY HOUSE
Founded and developed by Stanford University students, CANDY HOUSE, Inc. is a candy store that sells dreams, putting the joy and surprise of innovative technology in the hands of consumers, just like candy. Stanford Student Entrepreneur Raised $800K on Kickstarter

Palo Alto, CA, April 02, 2015 — /REAL TIME PRESS RELEASE/ — Stanford student Jerming Gu, founder of CANDY HOUSE Inc., raised more than $800,000 dollars after his product launch on Kickstarter. Sesame – the world’s first instant smart lock – reached its funding goal in nine hours when first introduced. Currently, nearly 5,000 supporters have backed the project.

Sesame allows users to lock and unlock their doors using the Sesame app on their smartphones. It is the only smart lock that syncs the movement of the lock with the phone, providing exact control of the angle to which the lock turns.

Gu is a mechanical engineering master candidate from Stanford University. Originally from Taiwan, Gu is someone who usually thinks outside the box. Disruptor, troublemaker, entrepreneur, as he calls himself.

“There has got to be smarter ways to live our life,” Gu said.

Gu said he got the idea for smart lock due to his experience living in Asia where technology is relatively less developed.

With five-patented design, Sesame works with just about any deadbolt in the world. Users can install it in seconds, without replacing existing lock or removing anything. Current model is optimized for US/Canada/northern Europe Markets.

Sesame – smart lock that changes the world

Palo Alto, CA, March 27, 2015 — /EPR NETWORK/ — Sesame, the world’s first instant smart lock, raised more than seven times of its funding goal on Kickstarter. Launched on Kickstarter on Feb. 25, 2015, Sesame has raised more than $760,000 from backers all over the world.

The smart lock, which allows users to control their door with a smartphone app, attracted thousands.

Connected to users’ phone via Bluetooth, Sesame allows users full control of the lock, even to the exact angle a lock turns. With the optional Wi-Fi Access Point that connects Sesame to the Internet, users don’t even have to be physically near Sesame. The remote control feature allows people to send access to their friends and keep track of whether the door’s locked wherever they are.

With five-patented design, Sesame works with just about any deadbolt in the world. Users can install it in seconds, without replacing existing lock or removing anything. Current model is optimized for US/Canada/Singapore/Norway/Sweden Markets.

With market of Internet of Things (IoT) expanding rapidly, backers are turning more and more attention to smart gadgets that make their life easier. Founded by two students from Stanford University, CANDY HOUSE Inc. designs and manufactures products that inspire a minimal yet joyful lifestyle.

“People will carry less and less things when leave the house, that’s the trend,” said Jerming Gu, founder of Candy House.

Wallet, keys, and cell phone. People used to bring three things when they leave home. Now walltet is gradually replaced by keys. The Starbucks app pays your green tea frappuccino, you Venmo money to a friend for getting late-night pizza, you hop on a Uber without worrying about cab fare or tip.

“With Sesame, the next thing to disappear are the keys,” said Gu.

New product launch: TechTable Pty Ltd announces the release of their flagship multi award winning product “TechTable” in the United States

DELIVERING ADVANCED SAFETY AND INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY TO THE TELECOMMUNICATIONS INDUSTRY.

Sydney, Australia, October 28, 2014 — /REAL TIME PRESS RELEASE/ — The award-winning TechTable was officially launched in the US at the BICSI Fall conference and provides a portable, lightweight and sturdy work surface for communications technicians to safely and efficiently terminate fibre optic and copper communications cabling.

Installers of highly complex cabling projects have seen rapid advances and developments in termination technologies however there have been very little improvements in the cluttered and uncomfortable work environments.

By using the TechTable, installers can now perform tasks at waist height and easily rotate between standing and seated positions. The platform is height adjustable, stable and comfortable and allows technicians to temporarily mount a patch panels and components onto the table for faster loading, termination consistency and improved accuracy.

David McHarg, Managing Director of TechTable Pty Ltd commented “Installers are faced with fairly primitive working conditions, meaning that neck, shoulder and back pain is not uncommon. Often technicians sit on milk crates, or in the cabinet, and are squeezed into a confined spaces for hours at a time, I couldn’t help but think there must be a better way.”

After much of his own research, David formed a team consisting of OHS consultant Glenda Snoxall, ACT Safety Regulator and Ergonomist Richard Siddell and Peter McKay of Industrious Design to develop a solution. Following an in-depth risk assessment and report in accordance with the code of practice for the prevention of Musclo-Skeletal disorders 2007 the TechTable was designed to address the key features required from a health and safety aspect and ensured compliance with this code of practice.

Prior to commercial release, The TechTable was trialled by a number of communications and electrical service companies with feedback indicating that it not only offered a much more comfortable position than traditional installation methods, but also delivered far greater accuracy and speed. Testing also identified that manual handling risks were either eliminated or reduced, and the installer’s productivity was increased by up to 24%.

The TechTable is designed for easy daily transport inside a padded carry bag and the set-up time is less than one minute. The dimensions are designed to suit tight-fit positions in cluttered computer rack environments, telecommunications rooms and data centres.

Currently the Tech table is used throughout Australia and has successfully launched in the US. For more information, including product specifications and OHS/WHS data, visit TechTable (http://www.techtable.co)
