The Renaissance Period Comes Alive with ‘Art Bengaluru 2014’

The 5th Edition of one of the most reputed Art Festivals to be held in Bangalore from 21-30th August 2014.

Bangalore, India, August 06, 2014 — The stage is set for ‘Art Bengaluru 2014‘ – one of the most reputed national art festivals in India. The 5th edition of this annual art soiree is all set to bring the Renaissance period alive in Bangalore with the theme for this year being European Art History. This festival, which is one of The Collection at UB City’s & Sublime Galleria’s annual proprietary events, is a celebration of art, culture and luxury. Art Bengaluru which started in 2010 is South India’s biggest art festival, which brings a mélange of artwork and artists from across the country as well as from abroad, under one roof. Art Bengaluru 2014 begins on 21st August 2014 and will continue till the 30th of the Month.

Every year, Art Bengaluru becomes bigger and better but this year’s edition is on a truly international scale. The art festival will showcase 13 top galleries including one from New York, one from Vietnam, apart from presenting one of China’s most popular artists, Liu Bolin and his work, for the first-time ever in India.

Also known as “The Invisible Man”, Bolin’s art has been showcased in museums across the world. Bolin will be exhibiting the now legendary “Hiding in the City” series – photographic works that began as performance art in 2005, apart from unveiling a creation that he’s working on exclusively for Art Bengaluru 2014.

Speaking about Art Bengaluru, Uzma Irfan – Executive Director, Corporate Communications – Prestige Group, Founder – Sublime Galleria and Conceptualizer & Organizer – Art Bengaluru said, “This year’s theme is the Renaissance period in European Art History, which is considered one of the richest eras for art, invention, culture & science. This period marks the beginning of new thinking, patronage and most importantly, the rebirth of classical art. Art Bengaluru, over the past 4 years, has attempted to increase art appreciation in the city and encourage fresh thinking, new ideologies pertaining to art and its mediums. Bangalore is home to some of the most liberal minds in the country and this celebrated event aims to carve a niche for Bangalore on the global map of Art & Luxury. The journey with Art Bengaluru this year will be both informative as well as a delight for the senses. I invite each and every one of you to make this event a success with your participation.”

About the Theme:
The 5th edition of Art Bengaluru aims to reflect upon the Renaissance period, one of the most prominent art periods in Europe, by highlighting some of the best works of art from around the world. The Collection at UB City, this year, will be transformed into a haven of European Art, giving us a glimpse of the past, by bringing alive the Renaissance period. The rich chapters of European Art History will be the inspiration for the décor, theme and installations within UB City, whose architecture already resonates an international theme. With mashaal lighting, a frame entrance, the Colosseum as the backdrop for the evening’s entertainment, the festival is all set to transport one back in time to one of the most enriching eras of European Art, showcased by a life-size book on the various famous paintings, junk art of paintings and an enormous scroll with information on the era.

The word ‘Renaissance’ is a French word meaning rebirth and refers to the revival of art and culture in Europe after the Middle Ages and to the actual revolution, focused around one of the city-states of Italy, Florence. This revolution was the resurgence of creative study and the glorification of artists, painters and sculptures. Michelangelo, Leonardo Da Vinci & Raphael were some of the famous artists from this period.

Opening Night:

His artwork titled ‘No-Thing/Nothing’ seeks to build on the extremities and the subtleties that are prevalent in one’s life. The evening’s entertainment will include unveiling of the installation, along with an awe-inspiring dance performance, which will bring the era alive for its audience.

LondonTown.com: Four exciting designers prepare to take over one of London’s best museums

The Design Museum’s Designer In Residence 2014 exhibition will explore the theme of Disruption as the annual event enters its fourth year. The exhibition encourages four rising designers to take over a gallery at the Design Museum in London Bridge and fill it with their most disruptive ideas between 10th September 2014 and 8th March 2015. These will include looks at housing, featuring hypothetical housing models for the city; law, exploring the eccentricities within the judicial system with props, drawings, maps and models; play, presenting an alternative archetype for the construction toy, moving beyond the familiar building brick and offering new possibilities in the form of simple cardboard discs that overlap, bend and join to create forms in an almost endless array of combinations; and finance, q uestioning our use of financial technologies with a new cash machine, currency and devices for credit card payments.

Alongside the Designers in Residence 2014 exhibition will be a series of events including sketching tours, designer talks, and evening socials. It is a pleasure to see the excitement of the children as they gear up to audition for the various art forms that interest them among Music, Dance, Theatre & Visual Art. I encourage more and more parents to bring their children to be a part of Berserk 2014”, says Uzma Irfan – Founder, Sublime Galleria and Conceptualizer & Organizer – ‘Berserk’.

About The Event:
The Residential Art Conference for Berserk 2014 will take place at ECC, Whitefield from 24-27th August, 2014. To enable increased participation, this year’s event has been designed to include a total of 110 children across the 4 verticals.

Over 60 schools have come forward to be a part of this creative event and auditions for the students will take place from 5-8th August, 2014 at UB City. To encourage participation from children outside of these schools, Open Auditions will be held at UB City on 9th August, 2014.

The grand Finale of the event will take place on 27th August, 2014 at the Amphitheatre, UB City where the mentors will showcase their talent through awe-inspiring performances.

About Berserk:
Sublime Galleria introduced a unique proprietary event, Berserk in 2013. Berserk is an annual 3-day Residential Art Conference for children. Categorized under the four key art verticals – Theatre, Dance, Music & Visual Art, Sublime brings the best in the art industry to mentor and guide these children. The programme involves identifying/short-listing students from the chosen city schools who will partake in a 3-day Residential Conference comprising intensive workshops supported by sessions meticulously planned for each vertical featuring guest lectures & demonstrations by award-winning professionals apart from other endorsements and benefits.

It is widely acknowledged that much needs to be done when it comes to promoting fine art in India. This awareness needs to be built from a grass root level where children interested in art can be nurtured and guided through its basics and other nuances. This common belief resulted in the creation of ‘Berserk’.

Mountainsong Galleries in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, is committed to representing more OPA and AIS credentialed Master Artists than any gallery in the world

One of the artists represented by Mountainsong Galleries is Kevin Macpherson To Hold First Ever Plein Air Workshop in Vancouver

Carmel-By-The-Sea, CA, July 17, 2014 – One of the artists represented by Mountainsong Galleries is Kevin Macpherson. Mountainsong Galleries announced today they will be the only gallery in the world to carry Kevin Macpherson’s Reflections on a Pond Series. Mountainsong Galleries has announced that the entire series – all 368 paintings – is now available for acquisition for $1.75 million.

In August 1996, Kevin Macpherson conceived of a series of paintings. The term “series” is perhaps too modest a description for what came to be called the Pond Project. This is not simply a group of works on a theme, nor a one year exploration of a single subject. Rather Reflections on a Pond was conceived as a physical challenge and psychological adventure in which a view out to a nearby pond would be documented on canvas at different times of the day and night, in all seasons. It took five years to complete. Kevin describes the “Reflections on a Pond” series.

Macpherson has just announced  he will hold  a special Plein Air Painting Workshop  called “Capturing Color and Light en Plein Air” on Hornby Island in Vancouver.

The Details:

* September 22-25, 2014

* Plein Air Painting Workshop

* Join celebrated Plein Air artist, Kevin Macpherson. Kevin is author of three bestselling plein air books, Fill Your Oil Paintings with Light and Color, Painting the Landscape Inside and Out, Reflections on a Pond: A Visual Journal, and the soon to be released new book, Light, Atmosphere and Color. Beginners to advance artists will benefit personally from Kevin’s 35 years of experience painting on location, teaching, and concise writing methods.

* The workshop includes four days painting the beautiful, pristine coastal landscapes, personal attention, and group critiques. Challenging lessons, lectures and instructor/demonstrations will fill the days with the “art spirit”. Simplify the chaos of nature with a firm understanding of light and shade. Master color relationships and composition made easy. Forget the formulas and look to nature for the truthful answers. Learn to react intuitively painting en plein air for successful passionate painting. Create a painting that goes beyond merely a picture one that evokes the senses. Engage in artistic challenges and take risks under the tutelage of a passionate well-known instructor. All levels of experience are welcome and the fundamentals apply to all mediums. Return home with a solid grasp of landscape fundamentals and the confidence to release your passion and let your true voice rule. Bring a limited palette, lots of small canvases and a work ethic, but most of all don’t leave home without your sense of humor. Kevin will keep you laughing all the while you learn.

* This is the first time Kevin is teaching in British Columbia. Take advantage of this opportunity!

CLASS INCLUDES:
* Instructor demonstrations, painting en plein air and picnic lunches. Instructor and students dine together to make the most out of this great island experience. The local hospitality will surely make this a memorable workshop.

* Special access to a private golf course along the waters edge and time to relax on the beach, clothing optional. There is something special about an island. Leave your cares on the mainland and just concentrate on the “art spirit”.

REGISTRATION:

* Early registration is encouraged. Registration is first come, first served. Kevin’s classes fill quickly.

COST:

* $875 USD. Register online: http://kevinMacpherson.com/workshops

* Reserve your space with a nonrefundable deposit of $300 (Paypal available). Class size limited to 20. The balance of the class fee is due August 29.

* The tuition does not include transportation, food or lodging. Only credit card and Paypal can be accepted.

* Please call (575) 758-7105 (New Mexico) with questions.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

* Your tuition will be fully refunded if the class must be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.

Comment from Students:

* Kevin exceeding my hopes. Obviously a master at painting, but equally so as a teacher – that magic combination is few and far between… and let’s not forget to add Stand Up Comedian to the list – bet there is never a dull moment between the 2 of you. I imagine you both are ready for a breather, hope you get one. — SB

* Kevin is a fantastic teacher and creates great examples and demonstrations for his students to understand the information he is presenting while making the experience a lot of fun. Wanda and Kevin are a fantastic team and thank you for organizing the workshop and group so well. – RW

* Kevin, you’re the best teacher ever and so generous to share your love and knowledge of painting with us. I learned more in 5 days than I have in the last 5 years and I’m encouraged that I can improve with the tools and exercises you gave us. -PK
