About Creekside Farms:
With two family farm locations, Creekside Farms is a high quality designer of tens of thousands of handcrafted, upscale wreaths and garlands. Their wreaths are featured in high end home décor retailers and catalogues, including Williams-Sonoma (for over 18 years), Pottery Barn, Sur La Table, Front Gate, Pro Flowers, Orvis and Harry and David. In 2011, they also launched their own retail site, www.creeksidefarms.com, and have received a wonderful response from consumers who love to pick out their favorite wreaths, often many times a year.

Creekside Farms began in 1969 when Carol and Larry Umbarger bought a ranch in Monterey County so they could raise their children in a rural setting with their seven horses. In the late 1980’s, the Umbarger’s began growing flowers and ornamental and culinary herbs to help with college expenses for their two older children. They began making wreaths for Smith & Hawken and soon expanded to providing beautiful wreaths to many other top retailers and catalogues. Since then, many members of the three generations of their family have enthusiastically joined Creekside Farms to expand their growing family legacy. Housed in their large manufacturing facility, Creekside Farms’ dedicated staff, both family members and longtime employees, assemble and carefully pack each shipment. The staff is available to answer any questions and also expertly handle any corporate gift orders within any budget.

Holman Ranch Vineyards & Winery Estate Wines and Wine Caves Announces The Release of its New Rose and Olive Oil Release

Select Wine samples available for reviews.

Carmel Valley, CA, August 28, 2014 – The estate wines of Holman Ranch include: Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Rosé of Pinot Noir. Holman Ranch’s 21 acres of vineyards lie between 950 and 1150 feet in elevation. The root stocks and soils are most important in producing excellent fruit from the vineyards.

The surrounding Santa Lucia Mountains are very important to Carmel Valley viticulture. The local hills hold back the marine layer and broad breezes, which is beneficial to producing consistently good fruit. Sedimentary soils, such as, chock rock and Carmel stone also play a major role in wine producing methods by providing good soil drainage. Holman Ranch “stresses the vines” of the fruit with emphasis on reproduction, which in turn, stops growth and ripens fruit. The valley configuration allows for fog in the morning but with it rapidly moving out as the air warms which is great for Pinot Noir grapes. The proximity to the ocean and the elevation are positive characteristics for the vines.

Holman Ranch’s vines are planted 15 degrees off due north which allows for all day sunlight on fruit zone and good protection from breeze. No chemical herbicides or pesticides are used on our fruit and we have received our sustainable and organic certification. Holman Ranch is also 100% estate vineyards and winery.

Holman Ranch’s wines are unfined and crafted to deliver the true varietal of the grape from harvest to table. Purity and passion are key ingredients in the wine-making process, and this is where Holman Ranch truly stands out.

Holman Ranch announces two new releases:

2013 Rosé of Pinot Noir Blushing Bride

Holman Ranch 2013 Blushing Bride truly does embrace the spirit of warm weather wine, all while staying true to the tenets of this classic bistro tradition. A bright nose with a subtle hint of wildflowers jumps out of the glass and its lengthy palate and juicy overtones finish off this all estate selection. Did we mention Absolutely Stunning? Personality, style, beauty and values. Sounds like the beginning of a beautiful relationship.

No. of Acres: 4.73

Year Planted: 2007

No. of Cases: 104

2013 Olive Oil

There will only be 50 cases of Holman Ranch 2013 Olive Oil!  With its dark golden color, light grassy aromas and creamy finish with no after taste, Holman Ranch Olive Oil should be a staple in every kitchen!  Holman Ranch Extra Virgin Olive Oil — This flavorful, distinctive oil from our Tuscan varietal olive trees was carefully hand-harvested, cold pressed and bottled.  Organic, estate-grown and bottled olive oil from Holman Ranch’s 100 Tuscan varietal olive trees. Size: 375ml (12.6 fl oz) Price: $25

Wine Caves:
The winery at Holman Ranch, located in The Caves, is completely underground in order to take advantage of the natural cooling and humidity held below. The 3000 square foot area maintains a constant temperature of 58°F-60 °F and contains four 750 gallon tanks, four 1200 gallon tanks, and four open top tanks that can hold two tons each. One hundred (100) French oak barrels are maintained year round. Winery operations such as destemming, pressing, fermenting and aging take place within the cool environment of The Caves, while bottling is done directly outside using a mobile bottling line. During harvest, 6 to 8 tons of grapes a day are processed. This may seem low but it is due to the fact that harvesting hours are between 7am to noon on any given day. Grapes are hand picked and loaded into half ton bins, transferred to the winery by tractor and then moved by forklift to the destemmer. White wines take around three weeks to ferment at 50°F and are bottled in February, while red varietals ferment for two weeks and are bottled in early June. All skins, seeds and stems are composted and returned to the fields. Slow months for our winery are June, July and August with the busiest time being September. The winery will produce 3000-5000 cases annually.

Vineyard & Winery Background:
Located at the north eastern tip of the Carmel Valley Appellation, the family-owned Holman Ranch resides approximately 12 miles inland from the Pacific Coast. Immersed in history and romance, the ranch has not only proven to be an excellent growing location for our vineyards but also for the Tuscan varietal olive trees which have flourished under the temperate climate.

Our estate-grown wine varietals are planted on approximately 21 acres of undulating terrain.

The wines produced are unfined and crafted to deliver the true varietal of the grape from harvest to bottle.

The climate and terroir of the appellation has played a critical part in the success of our wines. The warmth of our inland valley coupled with the cooling marine layer has established itself as an ideal microclimate for the production of Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. Our Burgundy Clones have thrived from the perfect blend of ideal climate, southern exposure and thin rocky soils.

Holman Ranch Tasting Room:
Holman Ranch’s Carmel Valley tasting room offers the perfect backdrop to swirl, sip and savor the different complexities of Holman Ranch Vineyard and Winery wines. There is something for everyone (4 varietals in fact), from the full-bodied Pinot Noirs to the light, fruity flavors of our Pinot Gris and lightly oaked Chardonnay. Holman Ranch also offers estate grown and bottled Olive Oil available for tasting and purchase at the Tasting Room.

The Tasting Room showcases the estate wines of Holman Ranch which includes our Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Rosé of Pinot Noir. Carefully hand-harvested, cold pressed and bottled, the Extra Virgin Olive Oil produced from the fruits of our Tuscan trees has a delightful spice followed by a buttery finish.

Three tasting flights of three wines each (White, Mountain and Pinot Noir) are available 7 days a week. The Tasting Room also holds a series of cooking demos called In Your Backyard. For more information, call (831) 659-2640.

Olive Grove:
Holman Ranch has its own distinctive olive grove located on a south facing hill of our vineyard. The grove is comprised of 100 trees with multiple cultivars planted. These cultivars consist of 25 Frantoio, 25 Leccino, 10 Mission, 25 Coratina, 5 Pendolino, and 10 Picholine, all of which were originally planted in 2194 in a Carmel Valley orchard then replanted at Holman Ranch in 2007. These mature olive trees allowed us to produce olive oil right away. They are planted in shale for the best production and harvesting results possible. We harvest our fruit by hand in December, which is then milled, producing a superb, high quality product. Although the Olive Grove is not certified organic, we do employ organic practices when farming our trees. Our mill, however, is certified organic. An interesting fact is that olive trees are alternate bearing, which means that one year they may produce 650, 375ml bottles worth of oil, while next year they may produce only 50, 375ml bottles.

International Artist Liu Bolin Exhibits a Special Creation at “Art Bengaluru 2014”

“The Invisible Man” performs live in India for the first time.

Bangalore, India, 27th August, 2014 — In a mesmerising display of performance art, renowned camouflage artist, Liu Bolin, vanished into his painting to craft yet another indelible memory at Art Bengaluru 2014. Showcasing his work in India for the first time, the artist created an installation titled “Charger Series – Peony No. 2” and also put up a live performance for the inauguration of the Art Festival, where he emerged from a Magazine Rack. South India’s biggest Art Festival, Art Bengaluru’s 5th Edition is being held at The Collection at UB City, Bangalore from 21st to 30th August, 2014.

Beijing-based artist, Liu Bolin, uses art as a medium to comment on society and repressive social norms. His best known photo series, “Hiding in the City”, took form in November 2005 when the Beijing city management demolished Suo Jia Cun – Asia’s largest international artist village and Liu Bolin’s home. As a silent protest to this event, Liu Bolin started his now legendary series Hiding in the City, which has spread beyond China countries like France, Italy & U.S.A.

Art Bengaluru began in 2009 as a quest to encourage & develop a thriving community of artists & art connoisseurs in Bangalore. Each year, the festival puts forth new art concepts for its audience; this year the event has scaled new heights with Bolin’s engaging performance at the inauguration. The Opening Night saw this talented artist blend into rows of shelves lined with magazines.

Uzma Irfan – Executive Director, Corporate Communications – Prestige Group, Founder – Sublime Galleria and Conceptualizer & Organizer – Art Bengaluru said, “We are honoured to have an artist of the caliber of Liu Bolin at Art Bengaluru who will unveil an exclusive creation for the event. Each year Art Bengaluru aims to get bigger & better and this time we have reached a new level with the artworks & artists, which will place the festival on the global art map. I urge all of you to join us in celebrating these unique creations of art which are displayed at the festival.”

Speaking about Art Bengaluru, Artist Liu Bolin said, “Art Bengaluru is an incredible platform for artists to display their works. Over the years, the organisers of this festival have done their best to promote & support artists from diverse backgrounds and it is a pleasure to perform & showcase my work in India for the first time at Art Bengaluru.”

Another work of art by Bolin, which has held the audience captive, is his installation the Charger Series which has originated from the artist’s dissatisfaction towards material possessions. This work of art shows cell phone chargers plugged into steel forms of the human body. The cell phone charger serves as an indicator of the boundless desires of human beings.

Artist Bolin explains the concept, “As we carry more and more burdens on our shoulders, we are gradually pulled away from the essence of life. In my work, the variety of brands, styles & sizes of the chargers demonstrates the diversity of life while also exhibiting the traces of human desire. As functional objects become unusable, they perfectly represent the unappeasable nature of human desire.”

A form of social commentary, Bolin’s artworks warn audiences of impending disasters caused by human overindulgence.

About Art Bengaluru:
Art Bengaluru, one of the most reputed Art Festival’s in India, has been created to showcase a wide spectrum of art forms and provide a platform for artists (both Indian & International) to exhibit their works.

Launched in 2010, Art Bengaluru began with a vision to promote works of art and cultivate a thriving art community in the city. The First Year of Art Bengaluru saw 15 Galleries across the city participate in the week-long festival that also screened a series of Short Films, in addition to an Art Competition for Children. The Second Edition featured 15 Art Galleries from across the country with the highlight being the inaugural Luxury Art Auction. The Third Edition showcased 15 top National & International Art Galleries, a Children’s Art Competition, Workshops, Speaker Sessions and the iconic International Art & Luxury Auction. Each year, the festival strives to rise a notch higher than the last, and in 2013 the much-awaited event saw over 100 National & International Artists showcase a diverse collection of artworks while the Auction saw on block works of celebrated artists such as M.F. Hussain, S.H. Raza, F.N. Souza, amongst others. The Fourth Edition also introduced Berserk – a unique Arts Conference for Children in addition to the trademark activities.

About Art Bengaluru 2014:
Riding on the success of the last four editions, Art Bengaluru returns with its 5th Edition. Presented by The Collection at UB City in association with Sublime Galleria, the 10-day event, from the 21st-30th of August, features a host of talented artists & leading Art Galleries from across India & the world.

This year, Art Bengaluru seeks to recreate and celebrate the Renaissance Period – an era of intellectual and artistic revival, inspired by a renewed study of Classical literature and art – with the theme of European Art History. The event is showcasing 13 top galleries including one from New York & Vietnam.

Christel House India, engaged in providing free education, nutrition & healthcare to impoverished children in Bangalore, have created an exclusive installation by students from their High School, based on the Renaissance theme for the event.

Gracing the event was Padma Shri Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, renowned Santoor Maestro, who put up a special performance at The Collection at UB City, on Sunday, 24th Aug 2014 at 6pm.

Also a part of Art Bengaluru is ‘Berserk 2014‘ – a 3-day Residential Art Conference for children which aims to motivate, inspire and facilitate children, between 8-14 years of age, to discover and pursue their artistic talents.

Max Agency has recently welcomed new talent including future high fashion and runway model Juliana Meloche.

Toronto, ON, August 26, 2014 – Max Agency has recently welcomed new talent including future high fashion and runway model Juliana Meloche. I asked Juliana how she got started in the business and she had this to say, “I was approached by MAX Agency on the street. My family was always telling me to get into Modeling, because of my height and my looks, that it was something I should try. I didn’t really think about it until I was approached by MAX Agency. Honestly I’m really focused on school right now but MAX has made everything really easy.”

After being scouted on the streets of Toronto for Modeling and thinking about the approach for a while, Juliana decided to pursue the opportunity and apply through the MAX Agency website. I asked her what it was like in the beginning and she said “It was fairly easy. The Toronto MAX Agency modeling agent helped us choose the photos for my composite cards. When I got my composite cards I thought they looked really good. The orientation was good and MAX Agency has made everything so easy for me. It was effortless.”

MAX Agency Press Release – August 13, 2014

Max Agency Toronto has been turning out amazing talent for a decade now and this week’s feature is Jamie McCormick.

Toronto, ON, August 14, 2014 – Max Agency Toronto has been turning out amazing talent for a decade now and this week’s feature is Jamie McCormick. Jamie spoke to us about his three latest experiences on set for a commercial with Blue Cross, a commercial and print advertisement with Goodlife Fitness and a spot in a promotional video for Cityline, all of these bookings were obtained through MAX Model and Talent Agency Toronto.

Jamie had this to say about Blue Cross;

“It was very interesting to watch them film the commercial for Blue Cross because it was a combination of family in the background and lead actors in front, we shot the commercial in French and English and they did the voiceovers while we were there. I’ve ended up with people from all over Ontario and Quebec saying ‘I swear there was someone who looked exactly like you on TV.’ I was wearing a fake cast all day. It was a very interesting experience.”

Jamie, a MAX Agency Toronto Model and Actor, has been creatively and financially rewarded for his efforts as exemplified in his work for Goodlife. Jamie was hired for the commercial component but managed to get print work with the campaign as a result;

“It was awesome! The crew ran an extremely fun and inspiring kind of shoot. It was a lot of work. It was a couple days of shooting. The thing about that shoot is we were trying to beat the rain, trying to shoot in three separate spots, some of it was in door and some of it was out door and we were always on the run. We were shooting everywhere from an arena to a park in downtown Toronto and then back to Goodlife. It’s one of my favorite experiences so far.”

Jamie’s latest spot was for Cityline; A high profile opportunity featuring Cityline celebrities. Jamie appreciated the opportunity immensely and considered it a valuable learning experience.

“Cityline was the most technical shoot I’ve ever done. They were using a special technology with a robotic arm taking the exact same path at the exact same rate as the talent. It was the same technology they use in Hollywood when it looks like the talent is on the screen at the same time as a graphic or animated character but they layer it. It used to be done with a split screen. The camera would follow the exact same path the exact same pace and it looks like the host was walking at normal speed. So it’s really cool. It was the highest end shoot technically that I’ve ever been on.”

Jamie McCormick’s opportunities are frequent and he is offered auditions all the time even with the old black and white snap shot he’s been using as a professional photo, “I can’t get to as many auditions as Max Agency sets up for me because I work full-time and I live out of the city but Max Agency Toronto has done a great job with the time I can dedicate to this opportunity. It’s a lot of fun!”

MAX Agency’s Bookers are currently looking for new Talent! If you are interested we highly recommend visiting our Application page and filling out an application. Wishing MAX continued success in the industry we’re looking forward to the Fall season and future articles featuring Toronto models and Toronto Actors and projects and finding out more about MAX Modeling Agency Toronto!

Background on DOGMAN by Marty Goldstein:
Born and raised in San Diego, California, Marty at a very young age became infatuated with all manner of stuffed, furry creatures. Puppy dogs with long ears or short ears, a riot of expressions, and puppies with soulful eyes, soon became his most treasured possessions. As the early years went by, those funny stuffed animals were exchanged for a real live puppy dog who responded to his master with unmitigated love and who made him laugh time and again.

At the age of 62, Marty retired from the stressful corporate world.  And after taking numerous sculpting classes found himself eager to create a series of whimsical bronze dogs which he enjoys sharing with anyone who loves animals or who simply delights in beginning each day with a smile or a chuckle. These limited edition bronzes range in size from approximately 4 inches to 50 inches and are developed using the “lost wax process”. The bronze dog sculptures are cast with high quality molten bronze and later have special patinas applied to bring the sculpture to life. This 3,000 year old tradition results in bronzes that owners will cherish for generations.

Marty Goldstein’s dogs have found homes throughout the U.S., Canada, in Europe and in Asia.  Renown Hospital in Reno and Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara exhibit the bronzes as an aid to their Healing Arts Programs. The FDR library in New York displays a likeness of Fala, FDR’s prized Terrier.

To date, Marty has sculpted a collection of well over 100 dogs. He says “Whimsical dogs remind me that life sometimes gets too serious and that we need a release. Funny looking dogs do that for me” Look for this collection to continue to expand in the future.
