Amilia K Spicer to Release New Album Wow and Flutter April 28, 2017

Americana songstress Amilia K Spicer will release her third album, Wow and Flutter on April 28, 2017.

Los Angeles, CA, February 22, 2017 – Americana songstress Amilia K Spicer will release her third album, Wow and Flutter on April 28, 2017. Spicer also exclusively premiered the music video for “Fill Me Up” from Wow and Flutter on February 14 via TheBluegrassSituation.com, in advance of the Folk Alliance festival. The video was filmed in the very woods she explored as a child in rural Pennsylvania and features scenes of Spicer re-discovering those woods while playing the song. The video is now available via Spicer’s YouTube channel. Spicer performed songs from the new release during her Official Showcase at the prestigious Folk Alliance festival, which takes place in Kansas City, MO on February 15 -18, 2017.

Wow and Flutter is Spicer’s most compelling work to date. The songs map her musical DNA in landscapes of languid farmlands, gritty alleys and red dirt noir. Her lyrics reflect the various places she calls home; Pennsylvania where she was raised, and Los Angeles and Austin where she currently splits her time. She visits her father’s hometown of Harlan Kentucky on the track “Harlan” as well.

The album kicks off with the twang and yearning of the first track “Fill Me Up,” a plea to the universe to fulfill her broken soul. The album’s journey continues with sensual and heartfelt songs like “Harlan,” and “This Town,” which recounts a scene known to many, when one finally realizes that no matter how far you travel, you never truly leave your hometown. Spicer confesses, “I know my home is in this town, like I know just how to breathe.”

Spicer has recruited an all-star line-up for Wow and Flutter. Keyboardists Rami Jaffee (Wallflowers, Foo Fighters) and Mike Finnegan (Bonnie Raitt, Taj Mahal) contribute, as does Woody Guthrie disciple and singer-songwriter Jimmy LaFave, alongside bassist Daryl Johnson (Stones/Dylan). Guitarists Tony Gilkyson (X, Lone Justice) and Gurf Morlix (Lucinda Williams) appear as special guests. Spicer, previously known for her piano work, picks up a multitude of instruments on Wow and Flutter, from guitar to banjo to lap steel. She also produced the record, alongside multi-instrumentalist Steve McCormick. Malcolm Burn, whom Spicer contacted because of his work with Daniel Lanois, handled mixing.

About Amilia K Spicer:

When Spicer answered music’s call, she was first discovered at a Los Angeles club. That led to a rare main stage Kerrville Folk Festival debut, three Kennedy Center performances, song placements in several high-profile TV productions (Party of Five, Dawson’s Creek), and more. Spicer’s first two releases, Like an Engine and Seamless were released to critical acclaim, with New Texas Magazine calling Spicer “A formidable talent.” Spicer’s music has also earned comparisons to that of Lucinda Williams, Emmylou Harris, and Lanois. During the writing process for Wow and Flutter, Spicer took time to work on several other projects. Among these, she has been lauded for her contributions to Cinnamon Girl: Women Artists Cover Neil Young and A Case for Case: A Peter Case Tribute with John Prine. She also appeared on the 2009 Safety Harbor Kids Holiday Collection, alongside Jackson Browne, Sheila E, and Paul Barrere. Spicer has enjoyed other collaborations as well, most notably appearing on albums by John Gorka and the final Rounder release from the late Bill Morrissey.

Our trainers must have the leadership skill set to provide diverse and customized training courses to effectively reach each group of trainees.

SAFE International™ has put together several teaching modules, varying in levels of specific certification in order to give our instructors options and maintain affordability. Keynote Speaker Edgar Perez to Lead Cybersecurity Workshop for CEOs in Singapore, London and New York

Edgar Perez, author of Knightmare on Wall Street and The Speed Traders, partnering with Terrapinn Training to bring key insights for board members and CEOs who need to become more educated about cyber security today.

New York City, NY, USA — As cyber attacks become more common, companies are increasingly investing in cyber security protections and awareness. But even with the best systems in place, hackers can still easily break into a company’s network if employees and contractors aren’t also being diligent about security. Cyber criminals have gotten much better at disguising malicious email to make it look more legitimate. So employees need to be vigilant and ask questions about all of the email they receive that raises even the slightest suspicion, which is most likely not what happened at some of the high-profile cyber security breaches that have been in the headlines: Adobe, E*Trade, Fidelity, Home Depot, Neiman Marcus, Sony, Target and Wal-mart.

As Internet usage becomes increasingly widespread and information technology ever more complex, cybersecurity is becoming an increasingly important and business-critical field. Are you and your organization effectively prepared to handle cybersecurity threats? Do you know how to identify threats, address challenges and apply a cybersecurity framework? Participants at Terrapinn Training’s 3-Day Masterclass Cybersecurity will:

• Gain a comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity and its key aspects
• Get to grips with various cybersecurity testing methods
• Learn valuable system administration techniques for executives
• Master the cybersecurity framework and its five core functions
• Discover how to establish or improve your cybersecurity program
• Consider how the “weak human link” can become the organization’s greatest strength
• Understand the four components of the cyber preparedness continuum

Edgar Perez, author of The Speed Traders and Knightmare on Wall Street, is a recognized keynote speaker and director of programs targeted at board members, chief executive officers and senior executives looking for new ways to gain and maintain a competitive business advantage. He can be reached through Twitter and Weibo.

ABOUT KNIGHTMARE ON WALL STREET
Knightmare on Wall Street (http://www.knightmareonwallstreet.com), The Rise and Fall of Knight Capital and the Biggest Risk for Financial Markets, provides a fascinating account of what it took to elevate the firm to the cusp of the retail investing revolution of the late 1990s, to struggle through booms and busts, and to bring the firm down, to end up ultimately being ignominiously bought up by a competitor.

Knight Capital announced a staggering loss of $440 million. What followed after this shocking announcement were several rounds of desperate conversations with a number of vulture players who had smelled opportunity and were readying themselves to pick up bargain-priced pieces. On August 6, 2012, Joyce confirmed that Knight Capital had struck a deal with Jefferies, TD Ameritrade, Blackstone, GETCO, Stephens, and Stifel Financial, staving off collapse days after the trading mishap.

Knightmare on Wall Street, is a thrilling minute-by-minute account of the terrifying hours following Knight Capital’s August 1, 2012 trading debacle, with news-breaking research regarding the firm’s 17 years of tumultuous existence as an independent company. Knightmare on Wall Street is the definitive behind-the-scenes story of Knight Capital.

ABOUT THE SPEED TRADERS (http://www.thespeedtraders.com)
High-frequency traders have been called many things-from masters of the universe and market pioneers to exploiters, computer geeks, and even predators. Everyone in the business of investing has an opinion of speed traders, but how many really understand how they operate? The shadow people of the investing world, today’s high-frequency traders have decidedly kept a low profile-until now. In this title, The Speed Traders, Mr. Perez opens the door to the secretive world of high-frequency trading (HFT). Inside, prominent figures of HFT drop their guard and speak with unprecedented candidness about their trade.

Mr. Perez begins with an overview of computerized trading, which formally began on February 8, 1971, when NASDAQ launched the world’s first electronic market with 2,500 over-the-counter stocks and which has evolved into the present-day practice of making multiple trades in a matter of microseconds. He then picks the brains of today’s top players. John Netto (M3 Capital), Manoj Narang (Tradeworx), and Aaron Lebovitz (Infinium Capital Management) are just a few of the luminaries who decided to break their silence and speak openly to Mr. Perez. Virtually all of the expertise available from the world of speed trading is packed into these pages.

The Speed Traders, published by McGraw-Hill, is the most comprehensive, revealing work available on the most important development in trading in generations. High-frequency trading will no doubt play an ever larger role as computer technology advances and the global exchanges embrace fast electronic access. The Speed Traders explains everything there is to know about how today’s high-frequency traders make millions-one cent at a time.

Fulham VP Outlines Need for Interoperability Standards for Smart Lighting at Upcoming Strategies in Light Conference

Russ Sharer, Fulham’s VP of Global Marketing, to Review the State of Industry Standards for Lighting Control Networks and Next Generation of Smart Lighting Products.

Anaheim, CA, USA — At the upcoming Strategies in Light conference to be held at the Anaheim Convention Center, Russ Sharer, Vice President of Global Marketing for Fulham Co., Inc., supplier of lighting and LED components, will be speaking to lighting industry professionals and influencers about the need for true interoperability standards as the lighting market embraces smart lighting. Sharer’s presentation entitled “Standards are Meaningless (without Interoperability)” is scheduled for Thursday, March 2.

As Sharer notes, the smart lighting industry lags far behind other industries when it comes to commonly accepted communications standards to for on/off, dimming, color tuning, remote monitoring, task tuning, remote and wireless controls, system alerts, and energy usage reporting. In other industries, accepted, open standards have had a dramatic positive effect on market growth. Consider, for example, the impact of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, both well-documented and well-understood standards that assure product compatibility and interoperability. Lighting control standards, such as ZigBee, DALI (the Digital Addressable Lighting Interface), and Thread are becoming more commonplace but don’t guarantee end users can buy lighting components from multiple vendors and operate them with a common control system. As a result, interoperability is only assured if you standardize on a single vendor.

“LED systems can be controlled in any number of ways, but there is no standardized means of mixing vendors,” Sharer said. “End users want to create multivendor lighting systems that use a common language, but as yet there are no established standards that guarantee compatibility for lighting control.”

The need for interoperable lighting control systems is becoming more urgent with the growing adoption of related applications and standards. For example, the Internet of Things (IoT) is enabling IP-based control of networked devices and components. In turn, IoT is driving demand for centralized network control of devices, including lighting, for applications such as automated building management. Wireless networking standards such as 802.11ac are being adopted for in-home systems management, including home security, climate control, and remote lighting control. Power over Ethernet (PoE) also is becoming popular for new construction and applications such as retail lighting, where lighting is frequently moved. All of these standards are well defined so they can be incorporated into a central control system.

“As smart lighting continues to evolve, interoperability of controls has become more important,” said Sharer. “The lighting industry is going to see more demand for lighting standards-compliance, interoperability testing, and certification procedures for both new and retrofit products. And customers are going to shop for standards-certified products that are guaranteed to be compatible with new smart lighting platforms. Those lighting vendors that will prosper in the future are the ones that embrace standards and promote product interoperability.”

Tech Soft 3D Optimizes HOOPS Platforms for Native and Web 3D Engineering Applications

HOOPS Platforms offer advanced 3D component technology for native and web engineering applications in a flexible, integrated framework.

BEND, OR (USA), February 15th, 2017 — Tech Soft 3D today announced that it has optimized the HOOPS software development platforms for native and web 3D engineering applications with the launch of HOOPS Native Platform 2017, HOOPS Web Platform 2017 and HOOPS Platform 2017. The three HOOPS platforms power applications with proven 3D technologies, including high performance 3D graphics for desktop, web and mobile, accurate and fast CAD data exchange, 3D data publishing for native 3D PDF, HTML and standard CAD, and tight connections to popular modeling kernels.

“The explosion of cloud and mobile computing, and advances in browser-based technology are transforming markets and creating incredible business opportunities as well as challenges for developers of engineering software.” said Ron Fritz, CEO of Tech Soft 3D. “HOOPS Platforms are designed to help development teams quickly get high-performance 3D products to market, even in an environment where development resources are limited and competition is fierce.”

Native vs. Web Applications – Benefits to Both
The world of engineering software, and technology in general, is moving fast. More and more, there isn’t a distinction between ‘cloud’ apps and ‘desktop’ apps. It’s about users wanting access to software in the most convenient way possible for them and having the apps connected, regardless of which platform they are on.

One of the most exciting developments of the last five years was the emergence of the browser as a viable platform for delivering engineering applications, and with WebGL, advanced 3D apps can be built for the browser. At the same time, native apps for mobile platforms have taken off due to several factors – devices becoming more powerful and prevalent, integration of Xamarin which allows developers to write C# code once and reuse that code to create both iOS and Android mobile apps.

But most importantly, native apps for mobile provide a high-performance experience, and that is key for engineering software.

Both web and native applications play an important role in a user’s experience, depending on what function is needed or what business problem needs to be solved. Often times, both web and native apps are required, web apps for convenience and accessibility and native apps for performance and user experience.

The HOOPS Platforms enable developers and engineers to create applications with an infrastructure built to support the needs of 3D applications in any environment. Whether it’s an application that renders in a browser, from a server, on a mobile device, on the desktop or via a thick client, using HOOPS platforms ensure high-quality 3D products that will deliver a rich user experience with functionality designed for high-performance web and native environments.

Users expect applications to process and load complex and extremely large data quickly into a 3D environment with superior engineering graphics. And those same users need the ability to publish 3D data out of an application for consumption elsewhere. HOOPS Platforms allows developers to create native and web applications that deliver a rich user experience, and are backed by a team of industry experts in 3D visualization, data translation and native 3D PDF technology.

“Creating successful 3D applications in a competitive market requires proven tools that help you develop better and faster than your competition,” added Gavin Bridgeman, Vice President of Products at Tech Soft 3D. “The HOOPS Platforms empower our customers to differentiate their offerings and exceed customer expectations when it comes to fast, accurate data access, high performance visualization and seamless 3D data publishing.”

At the conclusion of the solo art exhibition her artworks will continue to be available for viewing in the gallery’s archive.

The “Solo Art Series” consists of four month-long solo art exhibitions for established artists, who have a body of work to present to the public.

To be considered for these shows, artists were asked to submit 3 components; 1. Their art. 2. Their artist biography. 3. Their artist statement. The four winning artists were selected based on the merits of all three components of their presentations. (http://www.lightspacetime.com/solo-exhibitions)

Tetra4D 3D PDF Products Now Support 3D Printing Workflow, Enhances App-like Functionality of PDF

The Tetra4D 2017 portfolio enables the creation of data rich 3D PDFs that provide an even more interactive and richer experience, functioning like an application.

Bend, OR (USA), February 13, 2017 — Tech Soft 3D, leading provider of software development tools and native 3D PDF technology to the engineering industry, today announced the Tetra4D 2017 portfolio of products – Tetra4D Converter, Tetra4D Enrich and Tetra4D Automate. The enhancements made to Tetra4D Converter and Tetra4D Enrich result in the data-rich 3D PDF’s generated functioning like an application, which provides an even more interactive and richer experience for those consuming them. Improved support for import and export formats, and new workflows focused on 3D printing demonstrate the valuable role 3D PDF plays in helping companies to improve communication, save time and money.

“Our customers start using 3D PDFs for particular workflows, and quickly realize how they can expand the use of 3D PDFs in other processes and workflows throughout the organization,” said Lionel Vieilly, product manager for Tetra4D. “The Tetra4D 2017 portfolio is loaded with feature enhancements including support for new export formats such as the 3MF, the ability to search within a 3D PDF, and many more improvements that help to address ever-expanding roles that 3D PDFs can play in streamlining manufacturing processes.”

Enhanced Format Support:
The 2017 Tetra4D portfolio now provides support for the industry standard JT 9.5 export, which supports interoperability and archiving workflows, as well as a new standard format – the 3D Manufacturing Format (3MF), a 3D printing format that allows design applications to send full-fidelity 3D models to a mix of other applications, platforms, services and printers. The 3MF format supports multiple types of information including colors, materials, etc. and allows companies to focus on innovation, rather than on basic interoperability issues, and it is engineered to avoid the problems associated with other 3D file formats. As 3D printing becomes more and more prevalent in the industry, being able to support 3D printing workflows is important for manufacturers, especially for prototyping processes.

Tetra4D 2017 products provide updated CAD readers that support the latest versions of major CAD formats, including NX11, SolidEdge ST9, and SolidWorks 2017. In addition, the STEP reader and writer have been enhanced to support the validation properties features (STEP AP242) that enable users to validate a CAD data translation process..

Tetra4D Enrich Gets More Interactive and Dynamic:
Tetra4D Enrich helps people create interactive 3D PDFs easily and quickly. A Tetra4D Enrich document functions more like an application than a standard 3D PDF, and the enhancements made to the 2017 version add to the interactivity and app-like functionality found in Tetra4D Enrich-created PDFs.

The new search capability can be inserted in the PDF document to enable search operations based on the 3D information that exists in the document. The available search criteria can be set by the author of the PDF document in order to control what kind of Search will be accessible to the consumer of the document (e.g.: Attributes: The search will be performed on all the attributes that are linked to the parts from the 3D annotation).

The new “Search” feature in Tetra4D 2017 products can be inserted in the PDF document to enable search operations based on the 3D information that exists in the document.

Another new capability allows customers to define how text fields present in the PDF document are populated. It is, for example, easy to define how a title block (having several different text fields) will be populated when the 3D CAD information is added into the document, e.g.: from 3D file attributes, from CAD model attributes, from imported information (via an xm l file). It is also suitable for template documents, since the text fields that have been assigned with a specific way to populate those fields will be updated when new 3D content is added into the template.

Another new capability allows users to control how the results of a search are displayed in the 3D scene, and how the parts corresponding to a selection in a table are emphasized. Search results can be emphasized by color, color and opacity or through isolation.

When it comes to adding 3D attributes to the 3D PDF, enhancements have been made to easily manage errors through the automatic creation of a log file which provides the user with detailed information about the imported attributes and mapping errors (if any).

And finally, to help users get the most out of their Tetra4D Enrich experience, a new help menu has been added to redirect the user to various resources related to templates and how-to guides to create the templates, and getting started videos.
