London, UK, March 20, 2012 — Every business needs to build up a good network in order to facilitate overall growth. In fact, networking is also essential to great interactions and can often lead to a competitive advantage. There are many ways to do networking from trade shows to online webinars and new ICT have provided several tools helping to achieve good results. The business card remains the most widespread instruments even though it is one of the oldest.

A business card gives recipients information on who you are and what your activities consist of; it represents your business frontage, therefore a lot of importance must be given in terms of visuals as well as content. It is essential to constantly have some in the pocket so as to avoid missing opportunities to network. Keep in mind, any encounter could turn into a deal!

At BusinessVibes, new B2B networking platform invented to connect businesses; traditional business cards have been replaced by online created ‘profile cards’. Those Profile Cards are customized and include information filled on the profile. These are more convenient than conventional ones as they don’t need to be manually gathered in one place and can’t be lost.

In real life it is customary to ask for the other interlocutor’s business card before handing yours. For that reason, a BusinessVibes member can request – not send – a ‘profile’ card from a company he is not connected with in order to know more about it. Members can browse their industry directory, find prospects, and ask for their profile cards. Once collected, after examination the member can connect with the company matching the most its company requirements and start discussing business together.

NanoMarkets Releases New White Paper on Smart Lighting Markets

NanoMarkets today announced that it has published a new white paper that examines the current smart lighting systems market.

Glen Allen, Virginia – March 20, 2012 — Industry analyst firm NanoMarkets today announced that it has published a new white paper that examines the current smart lighting systems market. In a recent NanoMarkets report titled, “Smart Lighting 2012” we have identified this space as potentially reaching $4.5 billion in revenues by 2016 driven by the quest to improve energy efficiency within buildings and homes and meet requirements brought about by government mandates.

However, NanoMarkets believes while the addressable market is substantial, there are no clear leaders in the smart lighting space and that furthermore, the product and market strategies currently being pursued by the industry are insufficient to capitalize on what is possible.

Persons interested in obtaining the paper may download it from the firm’s website at: http://www.nanomarkets.net/Downloads/SmartLighting.pdf

About the Report:

The NanoMarkets report, “Smart Lighting 2012” provides an analysis of the worldwide smart lighting market and builds on NanoMarkets’ extensive six-year experience of analyzing the solid-state lighting industry. The report shows how new value is being created in the lighting market by adding enhanced electronics and intelligent luminaires and how such product strategies will be able to build on the massive trend towards introducing CFLs, LEDs, OLEDs and other forms of energy efficient lighting.

But while energy efficiency is the major current driver for smart lighting, this report also discusses how NanoMarkets foresees the smart lighting market transcending energy efficiency and generating new revenues from improved aesthetics, and more comfortable and healthy lighting. The report focuses, in particular, on how also these opportunities will emerge within the OLED and LED lighting paradigms. But it also identifies the opportunities that smart lighting will create as it adopts more effective networking strategies and becomes part of a future “Internet of things” and Smart Grid.

Also included in this new report is an analysis of the smart lighting strategies of the firms that NanoMarkets expects to see as major players in the smart lighting space. This includes the major lighting and building automation firms, as well as the slew of new lighting control start-ups that have emerged in the past few years.

In addition, this report provides an insider’s view on rapidly developing opportunities throughout the entire smart lighting supply chain including developments in the luminaire sector all the way down to the components level. For example, the report includes detailed coverage of where chip makers and sensor manufacturers will be able to derive the most benefit from the smart lighting “revolution”.

Also included in the report is a discussion of the likely evolution of smart lighting standards and their importance to smart lighting market development. In addition, there is an eight-year market forecast with breakouts by type of product and end user market segment. See the NanoMarkets website at: (http://nanomarkets.net/market_reports/report/smart_lighting_2012) for additional details.

SAFE International Launches Kingston Private Self Defense Lessons – Kingston, ON Self Defense

SAFE International is expanding its seminar options to include private self defense lessons in Kingston, ON.

Kingston, ON, March 19, 2012 – (Straight Line PR) – Kingston Self Defense, SAFE International Launches Kingston Private Self Defense Lessons.

SAFE International ™ is the leading provider of mobile self defense/personal protection training in Ontario. SAFE International has taught more than 150,000 clients in the private, corporate and high school environments since 1994. SAFE International is expanding its seminar options to include private self defense lessons in Kingston, ON.

SAFE International realizes that both women and men don’t necessarily want to join a martial arts club, or even take a public self defense seminar. SAFE International provides their mobile self defense right in the home. This allows SAFE International instructors to tailor the course based on the specific needs and concerns of the client. Self defense training in the home allows the client to be completely relaxed and comfortable training, without being self-conscious of others who might be watching in a public self defense course.

One of the reasons that SAFE International enjoys teaching private self defense Kingston, is how receptive men and women are to the skills that the SAFE International instructors provide. SAFE International teaches self defense concepts, rather than techniques. This allows the client to learn in a much shorter time. While some people have hours to dedicate to training, SAFE International can offer some basic, but effective self defense concepts in just a few hours.

SAFE International always covers Awareness and Avoidance strategies which are based on one’s daily routines such as using elevators, car safety, home safety, plus much more. We examine what an attacker looks for, what an attacker wants and doesn’t want in confrontation. One of the biggest topics we explore is how most people are too polite, even when their intuition is telling them the complete opposite. We cover the most common distraction techniques an attacker will use to gain an advantage such as asking for directions or the time. The next stage is verbal strategies in the event that avoidance is no longer possible. Rather than just teaching to yell at a potential attacker, SAFE International covers a few verbal strategies based on the aggressor and the scenario.

The third step is addressing the physical aspect of Kingston private self defense lessons. Instructors begin with the advantages of adopting a passive stance rather than an aggressive stance. SAFE teaches gross motor strikes due to the adrenal rush one gets when they are in a highly stressful state such as an attack scenario.  Complex skills are proven to be ineffective in the high stress of real violence. The main philosophy taught is to “Attack the Attacker” which reverses one from being the Prey, to that of being the Predator.

SAFE International does not teach martial arts, but rather, practical, easy to adopt and highly effective concepts. Kingston Private Self Defense is available to individuals, families, couples, or friends.

SAFE International has taught more than 150,000 clients including mothers, fathers, daughters, police officers, seniors, and people with disabilities. NanoMarkets Releases New Report on OLED Luminaire Market

NanoMarkets has announced the release of its latest report, “OLED Lighting Market Forecast Q2 2012.”

Glen Allen, Virginia – March 19, 2012 — Industry analyst firm NanoMarkets has announced the release of its latest report, “OLED Lighting Market Forecast Q2 2012.” In the report NanoMarkets presents its outlook on the OLED lighting sector with some notable changes since its last release in 2011. The firm notes concerns with the current economic situation in Europe which is a major center for OLED lighting as well as changes in manufacturing that will dampen prices in the short term but open the door to wider acceptance of the technology as OLED lighting efficiency, panel size and light output improvements bring the technology to the mainstream. NanoMarkets now expects that the total market for OLED lighting luminaires will reach approximately $6.3 billion in 2017.

Additional details about this and other OLED related reports are available at: http://www.nanomarkets.net

About the Report:

This report provides eight-year forecasts for OLED lighting in six different applications: purchases by lighting designers; luxury lighting; major installations in showrooms, tradeshows, etc.; residential lighting; commercial/industrial lighting; and automotive lighting. Forecasts are presented in both revenue terms ($ millions) and volume terms (units/square meters sold). In addition, the report contains qualitative forecasts of future opportunities for OLEDs in such areas as personal illumination products, signage, industrial lighting and novelty products.

The forecasts in this report are based on NanoMarkets’ insider understanding of OLED lighting demand patterns, but are backed up by matching projected demand against the plans of major OLED lighting panel suppliers to build manufacturing capacity. Among the firms discussed in this context are AUO, First-o-Lite, GE, Jusung Engineering, Kaneka, Konica Minolta, LG, Lumiotec, Moser Baer, NEC, Osram, Panasonic, Philips, Pioneer/Mitsubishi, Samsung and Visionox.

From the Report:

While NanoMarkets sees the overall prospects for the OLED lighting market as remaining strong, we now expect to see a major decline in OLED prices in the next two years as mass production technologies start to be applied to this kind of lighting. This pricing trend is expected to dampen OLED lighting revenues for the next three years until OLED lighting efficiency, panel size and light output have improved to the point where OLED lighting is acceptable in mainstream-and mass market – residential and business lighting markets.

In particular, NanoMarkets believes that OLED lighting has the potential to seriously compete with the standard fluorescent lighting panels widely used in offices through improved energy efficiency, lower costs and improved aesthetics. And by 2017 NanoMarkets expects that more than 75 percent of revenues for OLED luminaires will come from lighting for commercial and industrial buildings. In 2012, almost 90 percent of OLED sales for lighting applications will come from niche markets such as luxury lighting, large showroom installations and sales to lighting designers. But by 2017 that share will have fallen to under 1 percent.

NanoMarkets has lowered its penetration forecasts for OLED lighting compared to the forecasts it published in 2011 due to weaker than expected economic growth throughout the eight-year forecast period. NanoMarkets is particularly concerned about the impact of Europe’s ongoing monetary woes on the OLED lighting market. OLED lighting market is very Eurocentric with most of the important suppliers based in Europe and Europe’s importance to advanced lighting technology.

JA Carlton’s Adventure Wednesday’s Child Suggests Dark Political Schemes

Set only a handful of years into the future, speculative fiction piece “Wednesday’s Child”; by novelist JA Carlton, paints an apocalyptic picture of America’s future born from today’s economic and sociopolitical antics.

Austin, TX, March 19, 2012 – “Wednesday’s Child” the first book in JA Carlton’s “Freedom Fighter” series, attempts a prophetic look at the results of the current American sociopolitical climate and one possible effect on our near future.

The series explores the manifest consequences of social narcissism and political vagaries on the unsuspecting population of today’s intentionally misinformed Americans.

Book one, “Wednesday’s Child” introduces the reader to a band of heroes led by a genetically engineered soldier named Jade McKay who comes under investigation for the murder of her Commanding Officer. The investigation is a ploy by a shadowy government agency with its own sinister agenda, to demand her extradition back into their hands.

In a twist of fate, while on a mission Jade learns the true motivations behind her Commander’s murder as well as the motivations behind the enemy’s efforts to retrieve her and use her as a “new Eve” for their eugenics program.

In a last ditch effort to protect herself from extradition, Jade must expose just enough of the government’s plans to the remaining population to motivate her fellow Americans to action without forcing those behind the scenes to destroy what’s left of the country’s people.

Drawing on classic ‘science fiction’ elements like time-travel, to real-life genetic technology; Carlton paints a terrifying picture of corporate driven social and political ambition gone awry. At the same time, she manages to consistently shine an honest light on the best qualities of the people the survivors of this corporate created holocaust sought to destroy.

“The indomitable nature of the human spirit and our ability to overcome adversity is what inspires my stories. Hopefully it always will.” Says Carlton.

JA Carlton is the foundation author at Uneak Press, Inc. an Austin, Tx. based publishing company that seeks out local artisans like their newest addition to the family William Holloway. Holloway’s first novel “The Immortal Body” will be hitting shelves this summer and is already available electronically for both Kindle and Nook.

Social Medicine Is Understanding Patients By Launching New Website

Social Medicine, a health based social networking site, helps people suffering from a variety of health conditions, to globally connect, help and share information with others in similar situations.

Melbourne, Australia, Monday – March 19, 2012 — Social Medicine ( http://www.social-medicine.org ) opens the doors for patients that were not previously made available. Patients now have the opportunity for:
* Instant two way communication to help bring patients closer
* Supportive communities through enhanced functionality
* Friend circles to allow patients to connect and bond with others globally

Social Medicine (Social-medicine.org), a health based social networking site, helps people suffering from a variety of health conditions, to globally connect, help and share information with others in similar situations, by focusing on bridging the gap of patient-to-patient communication, and patient-to-practitioner communication, with all the social networking features and functionality expected in today’s society.

Community Support:
Social Medicine fosters community support, where real people in similar situations come together, to circumvent negative feelings like disconnection and loneliness, and focus on improving self-esteem, understanding, communication, relationships, and peer support.

“As a psoriasis sufferer, I know first hand how hard it can be to deal with an illness, without that all essential support from people who truly understand. After spending years managing my condition alone, I turned to the Internet for help. I found a sheer number of forums, blogs, and communities, in which psoriasis was discussed, but I didn’t find it to be a personal experience,” says Michael Dornan, the creator of Social Medicine.

Social Medicine’s online health communities does not show any geographical boundaries; anonymity from stigmatizing, embarrassing, and sensitive issues; increasing self-disclosure; and encouraging honesty. Even people with rare diseases can find peers online. The anonymity of online communities may facilitate the participation of certain people, who may be culturally and socially conditioned not to ask for help and support.

Understanding Patient’s Difficulties:
Why are patients turning to the web for information? There are increasing demands of consumer driven health content. It is seen that 48% of people with cancer reported that they had insufficient information provided by their physicians, while 20% were not satisfied with the information given and 39% of women with breast cancer indicated that they wished that they had help with knowing what questions to ask. (Gunther Eysenbach MD, MPH, The Impact Of Internet On Cancer Outcomes, American Cancer Society, 2003). However, dissatisfaction with information provided is not the only reason why patients turn to the Internet.

Social Medicine aims to better understand how people are connecting and sharing information about their medical conditions, the various treatments and products they are using. As communication on medical conditions is already undertaken in forums to some extent, these forums are now falling behind in functionality that would significantly improve patient’s experiences if communication was shared on social networking platforms.

There is a great need for more information. Patients want to know what other patients have done, used or experienced with their condition. The provision of information provided to patients has been shown to help them gain control, reduce anxiety, create realistic expectations, promote self-care and participation, and generate feelings of safety and security. The satisfaction with information provided has been shown to correlate with quality of life. People, who feel satisfied with the adequacy of information given, are more likely to feel happy with their level of participation and in the overall process of decision-making.

Psoriasis Social, the initial platform that paved the way for Social Medicine, demonstrated that patients understood what a social network for their condition offered over forums and other sites. “Psoriasis Social took off with a speed that surprised me. In a short period of time approximately 400 people globally, registered and became friends. My simple goal was to give psoriasis sufferers a voice, a sounding board, and a close-knit and supportive community for people who understood, what it was like to live with the condition. Soon Social Medicine was born, a platform for those who suffer from a range of illnesses and conditions, now have a community driven support network, and an avenue for organisations who may like to reach out to people via this platform or support its development,” says Michael Dornan, founder of Social Medicine.
