Big Sur Health Center announced January 13 – 15, 2017, as the dates of its annual Big Sur Foragers Festival.

Big Sur, CA, September 18, 2016 – Big Sur Health Center announced January 13 – 15, 2017, as the dates of its annual Big Sur Foragers Festival. This year’s partners include Carmel Valley Ranch, the sister property of longtime host Ventana Big Sur. Due to renovations at Ventana Big Sur, the Fungus Face-Off and the Grand Chef dinner will take place at Carmel Valley Ranch this year.

The event has traditionally served as a fundraiser for the Big Sur Health Center. The community’s non-profit health center will receive the proceeds from the foraging events to help support the continued presence of local healthcare services in the Big Sur area.

New events for 2016 include:

· A new Friday night winemaker dinner series held at select restaurants throughout Monterey County. Some partners include La Balena, Alvardo Street Brewery and more! Details to come

· Post Ranch Inn will host a Friday night fundraiser for the second year! Details to come.

· Join us for a special evening in the legendary wine room at Hyatt Carmel Highlands. Chef Chad Minton and the culinary team will create a three course meal paired with wines from Bonny Doon Vineyard. The evening will begin with a reception of passed appetizers, wines from Bonny Doon and live music from Dino Vera from 6:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. At 7:00 p.m. enjoy a three course dinner in the legendary wine room. Meet the culinary team and Bonny Doon Vineyard! There are only 24 seats available. Tickets are $175 per person

· An exclusive Friday night dinner at Sierra Mar restaurant at Post Ranch Inn with a special menu and a unique opportunity to enjoy wines from their award-winning wine cellar. This event is limited to 14 people.

· This year’s partners include Carmel Valley Ranch, the summer-camp-inspired sister resort of longtime host Ventana Big Sur that sprawls across 500 acres in the nearby Carmel Valley. Due to renovations at Ventana Big Sur, this year’s Fungus Face-Off and the Grand Chef dinner will take place at this playful destination resort that celebrates a deep connection to the land with passionate culinary, wine and farming artisans, and guest learning experiences ranging from organic gardening and foraging to wine making and lavender and beekeeping workshops. The “Fungus Face-Off” will take place in a beautiful tented setting on the Pete Dye-designed golf course at Carmel Valley Ranch. This popular event sells out early. There are 250 tickets available. Tickets are $65 per person.

· Foraging walk led by local experts at Ventana Big Sur. “Wild Mushroom Walks and Talk” at Pfeiffer State Park led by expert mushroom foragers. This year hikes will be held on Sunday. There are 30 spaces available per walk. Tickets are $60 per person.

Big Sur, CA, June 15, 2016 – Big Sur Health Center, a non-profit organization offering affordable healthcare to the Big Sur community, announced January 13 – 15, 2017 as the dates of its annual Big Sur Foragers Festival. Held in Big Sur along California’s central coast and throughout Monterey County, the festival is a weekend-long celebration featuring an amazing array of wild foods, world-class wine and beer, entertainment, expert-led foraging hikes and a friendly chef competition with celebrity judges. This year’s partners include Carmel Valley Ranch, the sister property of longtime host Ventana Big Sur.

The event has traditionally served as a fundraiser for the Big Sur Health Center. The community’s non-profit health center will receive the proceeds from the foraging events to continue to support the presence of local health care services in the Big Sur area.

The three day festival affords Big Sur area restaurants the opportunity to host the culinary expertise of notable chefs who will be preparing unique fare ranging from rustic to elegant, paired alongside the central coast region’s amazing selection of wine and beer.

A Culinary Exploration into the World of Wild Foods

One through Pfeiffer State Park (level beginner hiker) and one through the Big Sur Wilderness (level intermediate hiker). The intermediate hike through the Bug Sur Wilderness will be led by Stephen Copeland of Big Sur Guides and Hiking.

* A silent auction full of culinary delights, hotel stays, tickets to explore the area, art and so much more will take place during the food and wine sampling. There will be more than 60 items this year!

The show witnessed magnificent performances from the mentors and students alike. All 4 verticals, namely Evam (Theatre), Lourd Vijay Dance Studio (LVDS) [Dance], Taaqademy (Music) & 3-Peel (Visual Art) reinforced the fact that they are indeed stalwarts in their respective fields, by giving breathtaking performances. Acts for the evening included:

* Hip-hop, Salsa & Kathak Performances by LVDS
* A Dance Performance by well-known Dancer, Sneha Kapoor of ‘Jhalak Dikhlaja’ fame

Excited students & parents, from this year’s edition as well as last year’s inaugural edition of Berserk, flocked to UB City to take part in the evening’s celebrations. Berserk is still a relatively new concept and it was heartening to see such whole-hearted support and encouragement for it from everyone present.

The Residential Art Conference for Berserk 2014 took place at ECC, Whitefield from 24th-27th August, 2014. To enable participation of a larger number of talented children, this year’s event was designed to include 110 children overall across the 4 verticals. This edition saw 2,000 students from 50 leading schools in Bangalore audition to take part in the conference. The tremendous success of the inaugural edition of Berserk was reinforced by the fact that parents travelled with their children all the way from Delhi, Chennai & Chikmagalur to participate in the Open Auditions this time around.

The 3-Day Residential Arts Conference will culminate in a Grand Finale on 27th August 2014.

Bangalore, India, August 26, 2014 — ‘Berserk 2014‘ – the 3-Day Residential Art Conference for Children is back with its 2nd edition. Launched in 2013 by Sublime Galleria, to motivate, inspire and facilitate children, between 8-14 years of age, to discover and pursue their artistic talents, this initiative has already witnessed extremely successful auditions this year.

The second edition of the 3-Day Residential Arts Conference gets underway, with auditions between 5 & 9th August 2014.

Bangalore, India, August 04, 2014 — ‘Berserk 2014‘ – the 3-day Residential Art Conference for children is back with its 2nd edition. Launched in 2013 by Sublime Galleria, this initiative aims to motivate, inspire and facilitate children, between 8-14 years of age, to discover and pursue their artistic talents. This year Berserk is gearing up to get bigger and better with over 60 schools participating in the Auditions to be held from 5-9th August 2014, at UB City.

Berserk’s much-talked about inaugural edition held last year saw 3000 students from 15 schools audition to take part in the conference. 60 students were eventually selected by mentors from Jagriti, Lourd Vijay Dance Studio, Taaqademy & 3peel. International Quilt Festival Comes to Cincinnati This Spring

It’s one of the most popular hobbies in the country, one with a warm, storied past and an even more blazing future on the cutting edge of contemporary art. And beginning this year, Midwesterners in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana will get to see what quilting is all about at the debut of the spring edition of International Quilt Festival in Cincinnati!

“We are very excited to bring the show to the Queen City,” says Festival Founder and Director Karey Bresenhan, who also oversees other editions of Festival in Long Beach and Houston — the latter of which annually draws more than 60,000 attendees! “The area has always been rich with quilters and fabric artists, and a lot of them have never been to a show of this size before!”

International Quilt Festival/Cincinnati will take place April 8-10 at the Duke Energy Convention Center in Cincinnati, Ohio . Classes will begin April 7, and Preview Night will be held the same day from 5-9 p.m.

Quilting is big business! As reported in the most recent Quilting in America™ survey, there are more than 21 million quilters in the U.S. who spend nearly $3.6 billion annually on their passion. According to USA Today, that’s more than is laid out by hunting/gun enthusiasts, fishermen, and golfers combined.

But you don’t have to be a quilter—or even know how to thread a needle—to enjoy so much of what’s available at the show.

There will be almost 400 shopping booths offering antique and contemporary quilts and fabrics, patterns, notions, and books for the quilting and sewing enthusiast. Festival visitors will also find everything from antiques, crafts, and home décor items to clothing, jewelry, bags, and other accessories.

On display will be over 500 incredible quilts and other works of fabric art in 18 different special exhibits. These textile artworks run the gamut from antique time-honored patterns to cutting-edge contemporary fabric artistry.

Among this year’s exhibit highlights are “America Collects Quilts®: The Works of Susan Shie,” which feature the sometimes controversial artist’s unique works; “Baltimore Album Review II: Baltimore ‘s Daughters—Friends Stitch Past to Future,” an inspiring exhibit of quilts created in the Baltimore Album Style; and “Celebrate Spring! 2011,” a Judged Show in which the theme is the season of renewal.

This year, Festival’s Quiltmaking Academy will be host to more than 60 classes, luncheons, and special events with a faculty including some of the quilting world’s most well-known and respected teachers.

“There are always new ideas and techniques to be learned in the classroom, but you can also learn a lot just walking through the exhibits area and admiring the incredible artistry represented in the quilts on display,” Bresenhan adds. “Quilting has come a long way, and continues to evolve.
