The Food and Drug Administration Warns against Harmful Musclebuilding Products

April 20, 2011 – The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) recently announced that it is ready to adopt new measures against the companies that mislead customers by selling them harmful products. The FDA plans to eradicate the practice of not labeling or deceptively labeling ingredients on harmful products in the attempt to disguise unhealthy drugs as perfectly safe dietary supplements. Many products on FDA’s black list are weight loss and musclebuilding supplements containing potentially dangerous ingredients.

The FDA warned about unsafe musclebuilding supplements marketed as alternatives to FDA-approved drugs, generics of questionable provenience, but especially about products containing anabolic steroids or other chemicals that mimic their action, which are illegal in the US.

FDA representatives also announced that the department has come up with a complex system that provides industry specialists with hands-on information about potentially harmful products that haven’t yet undergone official testing. The system is also helpful in identifying manufacturers and vendors of harmful products, and in bringing them to justice.

Musclebuilding Foods That Are both Delicious and Helpful

The best alternatives to drugs and supplements are the nutrients found in natural, organic food. And besides being healthy, nutritious, and delicious, certain foods can also provide an answer to the question “How can I get muscle fast?”. High-protein foods such as eggs, lean chicken meat and fish are great for improving the body’s anabolic response after work outs, which renders them perfect for people looking to gain muscle mass quickly. There are many ways to season and cook fish or eggs dishes while still preserving the proteins, vitamins, minerals, and omega-3 fatty acids in them, so it’s easy to prepare meals that are both appetizing and nutritious.

Often overlooked in most musclebuilding diets, beans and nuts are also very nutritious and rich in protein. Carbohydrate-rich cereals like brown rice and fresh fruits should be part of your musclebuilding food regimen too, as they help both with post-training recovery and with charging up the body with the energy needed for the next work out.
