Hikari Sato’s journey of study overseas

WASHINGTON, 2022-Apr-12 — /REAL TIME PRESS RELEASE/ — Born in Japan in 1993, Hikari Sato showed her talent for drawing when she was in elementary school. While other classmates used paintings to express their joys, sorrows, and childhood, she, on the other hand, liked to depict mountains, fields, streams, and animals. The snow on Mount Fuji and the deer in Nara are all objects she liked to paint.

Having grown up, Hikari Sato hoped to improve her knowledge and perspective so that she can create better arts, and then she began to travel to many countries to find inspiration for her paintings and became a wandering artist. Sometimes She painted graffiti works in the corner of the bustling streets, and other times went to dilapidated villages, painting her inspiration on the bricks and tiles that seem to have been forgotten. Obviously, she prefers to leave her works in different places than in one closed space.

By far, Hikari Sato has left her graffiti works on walls in Tokyo, Osaka, New York, Tel Aviv, Hong Kong, Toronto, Candelaria, etc. Apart from being an artist herself, she is also an avid groupie. Of course, what she likes is not pop idols, but well-known artists and their works.

“I take time out every year to appreciate other people’s street works, especially in cities that value graffiti culture, where there will be many excellent paintings, and these paintings will give me important inspiration and hints. I think as a person who loves to paint, (she wouldn’t call herself a painter or an artist), learning and thinking are important.”

In Tokyo, Hikari Sato learned how to draw a vivid anime character, and she once stood for a long time under a painting of Astro Boy on the wall just to study the structure of the character. In Europe and America, she saw more works, like caricature paintings and praise paintings, that emphasize content creation.

“Painting is a way of expressing ideas. In many cases, people can understand the author’s idea without explaining.” So she pays great attention to the content expressed in her works. She is not just a painter, she is also an environmentalist. This is because much of the beautiful scenery she could see when she was a child disappeared later. “The colors of my work are changing, and many of the landscapes I could see when I was a kid don’t exist anymore.”

She matured through years of study and street works and also gained a little fame, but she doesn’t care about it. She believes that making meaningful art is the thing that matters the most, and for this reason, she hopes to advocate environmental protection through paintings, reminding people to behave themselves and stop damaging the environment.

Sublime Galleria Presents a Fun-Filled Christmas Carnival at The Collection, UB City

The event will take place on Saturday, 10 December 2016 from 3-7 pm.

Bangalore, India, December 9th, 2016 — To kick-off the festive season, Sublime Galleria is all set to present a grand Christmas Carnival from 3-7 pm on Saturday – 10 December 2016 at The Collection, UB City. The Carnival aims at celebrating the spirit of giving by involving children and adults.

With face painting, hair braiding, selfie stands with Santa, workshops on dancing, and a show by a Bangalore-based rap and rock band, Transitpoint, the Carnival promises to be a delight for everyone across all age groups.

Additionally, children from ages 5-17 are being given the opportunity to turn entrepreneurs and manage their own operations from end-to-end, with 12 stalls being provided to them. The youngest child, who is all of five years, will be selling homemade bath products and cookies. The children will sell their own creations – Christmas treats, snacks, and games – and will personally hand over 10% of their cash sales to Dream a Dream, a charitable trust based out of Bangalore. There will also be a stall by Hoopsters Club, an online platform for children to express their opinions and showcase their talents.

Commenting on the event, Uzma Irfan – Director, Prestige Group, said, “It gives me great pleasure to invite everyone to one of Bangalore’s most fun-filled Christmas Carnivals. By allowing children to have their own stalls, we are providing them with an opportunity to build their business skills while sensitizing them to the less privileged communities. In addition to an evening of fun and entertainment, by associating with ‘Dream a Dream’, we also hope to empower the vulnerable and give them the platform they deserve. I encourage everyone to attend the Carnival and make a difference while having a great time.”

The lineup of entertainment will be as follows:
* 3:00pm – 4:00pm: Workshop by Zealers Studio, known for mixing a variety of dance forms into one energy-packed session
* 4:00pm – 5:00pm: Music by DJ Anirudh
* 4:30pm – 7:30pm: A group of carolers will spread the Christmas spirit by singing at different spots around The Collection, UB City.
* 6:00pm – 7:30pm: Rap band Transitpoint, which will perform a mix of Christmas carols and their own compositions. CDs from their new album, Hayyath, will also be sold at the Carnival.

The beautiful interiors of The Collection, UB City will be transformed to reflect this theme, with the lighting of the Christmas tree at 6:30pm. Additionally, the bridge on the second floor of the mall will display a collection of sketches, portraits, and landscapes by a young and extremely talented self-taught artist, Priyanka Muthuraman. A recent graduate of architecture, Priyanka believes in creating art from old materials, thus preserving the beauty of the old while adding a modern touch to it.

All proceeds from the Carnival will go towards Dream a Dream, a registered, charitable trust empowering children and young people from vulnerable backgrounds to overcome adversity and flourish in the 21stcentury using a creative life skills approach.

About Dream A Dream:
Currently, the organization works with 10,000 young people referred from 40 partner NGOs, trains over 2,000 educators impacting over 1,00,000 children and young people and sensitizes over 2,500 volunteers through their unique Life Skills Development model. Sublime Galleria along with The Taj West End presents Elite Strokes, a collection of Contemporary Art by Renowned Artist, M.R. Deshmukh

The paintings will be on display at The Taj West End from 09-15 December and at Sublime Galleria, UB City from 16-31 December 2016.

Bangalore, India, December 8th 2016 — Sublime Galleria and Taj West End present ‘Elite Strokes’, a collection of paintings capturing the essence of natural beauty and human interactions. Created by M.R. Deshmukh, a prolific painter from the heart of the beautiful Sahyadri Mountains, the paintings will be on display from the 09-15 December at The Taj West End and 16-31 December at Sublime Galleria situated on the 8th Floor of The Collection, UB City.

The Opening Night of the exhibition will take place on Friday – 09 December 2016 at the beautiful Art Corridor at The Taj West End. Given that both The Taj West End and Sublime Galleria are strong patrons of the arts, most of the art aficionados from the city are expected to be present at the event.

M.R. Deshmukh rejects the traditional approach to countryside paintings by liquefying forms in his works and capturing the fleeting essence of nature. He’s particularly fascinated with the impact of light on the views around him and expresses this in his work. While all his paintings bear his signature style of bold, short strokes and strong colours, each piece of art tells a unique story.

M.R. Deshmukh’s works have been bought by some of the most influential art collectors in the country. His paintings have won several awards, including the Best Painting Award by Art Society of India. His works have been displayed in top commercial and hospitality properties across the country, including Hotel Taj (Bombay), Bank of America, Hindustan Unilever, and many more.

Commenting on the exhibition, Ms. Uzma Irfan – Director, Prestige Group, said, “It gives me great pleasure to present a gifted artist like M.R. Deshmukh. His paintings are unique because they capture the beauty of nature while also allowing some room for abstraction and fluidity. I invite everyone to come and enjoy these beautiful works of art. I also want to thank The Taj West End for partnering with us on this initiative. By joining hands with such a well-respected brand, we hope to offer even stronger platforms to the artists and the art community overall.”

Mr. Somnath Mukherjee – General Manager, The Taj West End added, “We’re happy to be associated with Sublime Galleria, one of South India’s foremost art galleries. The Taj West End and Sublime Galleria share a common vision – to give talented artists a platform to showcase their work, and help the city gain recognition as a fast-growing art hub. I hope the city’s art lovers enjoy M.R. Deshmukh’s works.”

Having hosted several successful exhibitions in the past, it is recognized for its contribution for putting Bangalore on the global art map. Santa Cruz Artist Mary Karlton Wins Award at California Celebrate Agriculture with the Arts Competition and Exhibition

Santa Cruz artist, Mary Karlton, was awarded second prize in the “Human Factors” category for her painting “Sweet Summertime” by the Madera County Arts Council’s 2013 Celebrate Agriculture with the Arts juried art exhibition.

Santa Cruz, CA, USA (October 10, 2013) — Santa Cruz artist, Mary Karlton, was awarded second prize in the “Human Factors” category for her painting “Sweet Summertime” by the Madera County Arts Council’s 2013 Celebrate Agriculture with the Arts juried art exhibition. The annual art exhibit, held at the Circle Gallery in Madera, was juried by renowned Santa Cruz, California painter and teacher Mike Bailey.

Ms. Karlton’s painting, which depicts a young boy enjoying a juicy red watermelon, celebrates the abundant fruits of the summer season. With its high-contrast chiaroscuro style and shimmery copper and bronze underpainting, the portrait has a vintage feel that simulates the look of old sepia-toned photography of the mid-twentieth century. The painting was inspired by an old photo of her father that Ms. Karlton discovered in a box of family memorabilia.

In 2012, Mary Karlton was awarded first prize for her painting entitled “How Are You M’ Lord?” by the Madera County Arts Council’s Celebrate Agriculture with the Arts exhibition, Pomegranate Festival category.

“Sweet Summertime,” along with the works of many other fine California artists, will be on display at the Circle Gallery until November 16. For more information about Celebrate Agriculture with the Arts and the Madera County Arts Council, visit http://www.maderaarts.org/celebrate-agriculture-with-the-arts-2013.

About Madera County Arts Council’s Annual Celebrate Agriculture with the Arts Showing

Originally funded by a grant from the California Arts Council, Celebrate Agriculture with the Arts has been a tradition and source of pride in Madera County and the state of California for 20 years. The contest promotes a broader interest in and understanding of agriculture as an industry while showcasing the work of professional California artists. It is a juried show, with approximately $8,000 in prizes offered across seven categories. In 2013, 180 entries from 79 artists around the state (up 27% from 2012) were received. Jurors selected 93 pieces, including watercolor, acrylic, and oil paintings; pencil and pastel drawings; metal and clay sculptures; photography; and mixed media. 2013 marks the first year that photographic entries were fully integrated into all of the show categories, and the first year that paintings and sculpture were included in the “Human Factors” category.

California Artist Mary Karlton Debuts Two New Collections at Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History

The Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History (MAH) is exhibiting the work of fine artist and Santa Cruz resident Mary Karlton at the Octagon Café.

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (July 22, 2013) — The Santa Cruz Museum of Art and History (MAH) is exhibiting the work of fine artist and Santa Cruz resident Mary Karlton at the Octagon Café. Opening on July 23 and running through September 22, the show will feature two series from Ms. Karlton’s extensive body of work: the “Pomegranate Series” and the “Anduze Series,” which celebrate human diversity and individuality. The public is invited to meet the artist at the opening night event on Friday, August 2, from 5 pm to 8 pm at the Octagon Café at the MAH. This coincides with the Santa Cruz First Friday Art Walk.

The bright and vibrant Pomegranate Series portraits depict individuals from all walks of life and diverse ethnic backgrounds. The first painting in the Pomegranate Series, “How Are You, M’ Lord?” received first prize in the Madera County Arts Pomegranate Festival in 2012. This painting is an homage to the late Frank Snell of Santa Cruz, medical professional in the US Army who served in Vietnam, professor at Cabrillo College and Hartnell College, world traveler, and benefactor. The pomegranate held special significance to Mr. Snell, as he had hoped to publish a book about his life experiences which he planned to call “The Pomegranate.” The project was cut short by his untimely death.

In the Anduze Series, Ms. Karlton explores the lively and fascinating characters encountered during a recent trip to the South of France and Paris. In this collection, Ms. Karlton brings together mixed media and bold contemporary design inspired by street art and the Cubist style of Picasso to capture the rich personality of each figure.

Fine art giclée prints on canvas of all works from the two collections will be available for purchase.
