Fulham Names Chris Veira to Head Distribution Sales and Harold Thompson to Head North American OEM Sales

Staffing changes come after Fulham achieves record revenue in 2018.

Hawthorne, CA, USA — Fulham Co., Inc., a leading supplier of lighting components and electronics for commercial and specialty applications, today announced that Chris Veira has been promoted from Southwest Distribution Manager to Director of Sales, North American Distribution. Harold Thompson, who has been serving as Northeast OEM Manager, also has been promoted to Director of Sales, North American OEM.

The changes come following the retirement of Richard White, Vice President, U.S. Distribution Channel, and the departure of Mike Bauer, VP of Global Sales, who left for a job outside of the lighting industry. Thanks largely to a commitment to continued innovation in LED lighting, Fulham has just completed 2018 with record company revenue despite market pressures such as increased tariffs and other costs.

During his 13 year career at Fulham, White was responsible for developing business relationships with the top 10 North American electrical and industrial distributors. He also was instrumental in driving Fulham’s e-commerce initiative, including overseeing the company’s Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and Industry Data Exchange Association (IDEA) initiatives. During White’s tenure both the annual sales volume through distribution and the number of distributors associated with Fulham grew significantly.

Bauer, who was with the company for nearly five years, contributed to Fulham’s growth in the LED and emergency lighting markets, as well as structuring the global sales organization to maximize these types of product sales opportunities. Bauer, who is based in North Carolina, departed in early January for a role closer to his home.

“During my tenture at Fulham, developing bench strength in all of our departments has been a top priority for me,” said Bob Howard-Anderson, CEO of Fulham. “While Mike and Richard will be missed, we are confident that Harold and Chris will continue to drive our business. It’s never easy to see good people depart, but they left on the high note of record revenue.”

Veira has been with Fulham since 2015, helping build and support the southwestern distribution channel. In his new role he will assume responsibility for overseeing all U.S. sales distribution, including providing sales support and bringing on new distributors.

Thompson has been with Fulham since 2006, helping to expand and service the company’s OEM customers throughout the Northeast. In his new role he will assume responsibility for overseeing all North American OEM sales, including major accounts.

Howard-Anderson is acting as the interim head of Global Sales while a new leader is being recruited. Fulham was founded in 1994 so 2019 marks its 25th year in business. The company now employs more than 500 people worldwide in North America, China, India and Europe.

Fulham Exec to Address International LED professional Symposium on Safety, Security, and Connected Emergency Lighting

Fulham’s Jeremy Ludyjan, LC, to speak on need to verify emergency lighting readiness and new technologies to enable connected lighting management.

Hawthorne, CA, USA — At LpS 2018, the eighth International LED professional Symposium being held in Bregenz, Austria, September 25-27, Jeremy Ludyjan, LC, Senior Director, Field Marketing for Fulham Co., Inc., will present a session entitled, “Connected Emergency Lighting – Safety and Security in Controls and Emergency Lighting.” Ludyjan’s presentation will explore changes in emergency lighting safety standards and maintenance and the role of new IoT-enabled LEDs in emergency lighting diagnostics as part of building automation.

There was a time when building managers could walk to an emergency fixture, press a button, and see the status of an emergency light. With more buildings being retrofitted with cost-effective LED lighting, there is now an opportunity to upgrade emergency lighting, combine emergency and conventional LED luminaires, and create a larger connected ecosystem that provides streamlined light tests and automatic reports. Using sensors built into emergency lighting and connected using wired or wireless controls, scheduled diagnostic and real-time reports reveal more about emergency lighting operation, such as battery health, temperature, power consumption, and overall luminaire readiness.

“Emergency lighting maintenance is a key factor in building safety but it is often overlooked,” said Ludyjan. “Incidents have happened in numerous worldwide locations, including Europe, where faulty emergency lighting likely increased the causalities. Adding connectivity and intelligence to emergency lighting systems is a simple way to go beyond safety code compliance and integrate emergency lighting controls into a larger smart building ecosystem.”

Adding shared sensors to connected emergency lighting systems adds another layer of building intelligence. For example, sensors can monitor heat to identify the location of a fire, determine occupancy to locate people trapped in an emergency, or even use audio sensors to detect an active shooter or terrorist threat. Intelligence from sensors also can be used to illuminate safe exit routes, directing occupants away from a fire or the source of an emergency.

Fulham Co., Inc., a leading supplier of lighting components and electronics for commercial and specialty applications, has been actively research and developing new ways to integrate LED luminaires into smart building infrastructures. The company has recently demonstrated LED luminaires that can be networked using Bluetooth mesh or Power over Ethernet.

Fulham offers a full line of LED emergency lighting systems, including exit signs, emergency lighting retrofit kits, and combination LED luminaires and emergency drivers. For more information, visit http://www.fulham.com.

Fulham Exec to Present Session on Future of Smart Lighting and Smart Cities at LightShow West

Fulham’s Jeremy Ludyjan, LC to speak on “Intelligent Outdoor Lighting: The Backbone of Smart Cities” to show how intelligent LEDs are foundation for smart cities.

Los Angeles, CA, USA — The future of smart cities will start with smart outdoor lighting. That’s the subject of a presentation to lighting professionals being made by Jeremy Ludyjan, Senior Director, Field Marketing for Fulham Co., Inc., a leading supplier of lighting components and electronics for commercial and specialty applications. Ludyjan is scheduled to deliver a tutorial entitled “Intelligent Outdoor Lighting: The Backbone of Smart Cities” at LightShow West being held here October 11-12.

Many cities are already adopting lighting control systems for street lights, bike paths, public parking, and illumination in public spaces using wireless platforms such as Wi-Fi, Zigbee and Bluetooth mesh. More vendors also are entering the market with cloud-based software and centralized computer dashboards that offer easy integration and lighting management. Studies have shown that centrally controlled lighting has a number of advantages, including dramatic energy savings and for applications such as crowd control. Ludyjan’s presentation will review the various technologies available for outdoor lighting and how urban lighting controls are laying the foundation for other smarty city applications.

The Light Show West session will include updates on the latest smart lighting technology, including:

• An overview of the different outdoor lighting control platforms;
• Potential energy savings from intelligent lighting technology;
• Additional benefits from adding intelligence to outdoor lighting; and
• The future of outdoor lighting controls.

“Smart cities are clearly in our future, but before you can bring intelligence to traffic control, parking, waste management, and other services, you have to have the infrastructure to support data communication,” said Ludyjan. “Smart lighting is the first logical step in building a control network, since adding smart street lighting can immediately save millions in energy costs while creating a control network infrastructure for other applications.”

Smart lighting is already proving beneficial to various municipalities. Los Angeles, for example, is saving an estimated $9 million annually in energy costs by replacing its aging sodium-vapor streetlights with smart LED lighting. The smart lighting poles being installed in LA also are expanding the city’s wireless networking capacity with small cells for phone carriers.

A smart city infrastructure also enables new management and urban planning solutions. For example, Singapore is using its smart city platform to monitor traffic and control littering. Barcelona is using smart city technology for street lighting, waste management, and even to alert motorists about available parking. With smart city technology in place, city managers have access to new pools of data for big data analytics.

Fulham has been working with a variety of partners on strategies to integrate its smart LED lighting into smart city control platforms. For example, Tvilight, a Dutch company specializing in wireless control and lighting control solutions, has integrated Fulham’s WorkHorse LED fully programmable, wireless outdoor lighting systems into its smart city management platform.

The tutorial session, “Intelligent Outdoor Lighting: The Backbone of Smart Cities,” is part of Light Show West and scheduled to take place from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. October 11.

SunGreen Systems Completes Construction of 183 kW Solar PV System and Sustainable LED Lighting for Mortech Manufacturing

Combination of LED Lights and Solar Power Results in Green Lighting System with Substantial Energy Savings.

Azusa, CA, USA (February 6, 2016) — SunGreen Systems (http://www.sungreensystems.com), experts in the design and construction of commercial solar systems and sustainable, smart energy solutions, will participate in today’s official ribbon-cutting of the new PV system for Mortech Manufacturing, makers of quality anatomy equipment and instruments for post-mortem facilities. The ribbon-cutting ceremony to be held at Mortech’s facility here is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. and marks the culmination of a successful SunGreen Systems design and build project, where SunGreen was able to help Mortech Manufacturing realize substantial savings through a combination of sustainable solar power and LED lighting.

SunGreen Systems designed and installed a premium 183.4 kW solar array for Mortech Manufacturing. The solar system, one of the largest array in Azusa, will offset nearly 100 percent of Mortech’s total building electrical load. As part of the installation, SunGreen working in conjunction with LED Power Saver of Santa Clarita, Calif., also installed LED lighting to replace 900 conventional lamps, resulting in a savings of 50 percent of the lighting energy cost at an estimated annual savings of $19,000 in energy and maintenance costs. In fact, because of the substantial savings from the LED lighting system, SunGreen Systems was able to specify a smaller PV system to meet Mortech’s energy needs at considerable savings.

“This ribbon-cutting marks the completion of a showcase project for SunGreen Systems,” said Rick Hsu, CEO of SunGreen Systems. “The combination of solar power and low-energy LED lighting not only saves energy, it delivers better quality, broader spectrum lighting without glare or discoloration. LED lighting boosts the mood of the Mortech staff at the same time it saves on operational overhead.”

By adopting renewable solar energy and LED lighting, Mortech will eliminate 1,257,000 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions annually, 4,192 pounds of sulfur dioxide. 2.096 pounds of nitrogen dioxide, and 3,753 grams of mercury from florescent lamps. The positive environmental impact is the equivalent of planting 145 acres of trees or removing 96 automobiles from the roads.
