Investing in whisky can pay off claims AAA

Although the wine investment market is going through a tough spell at the moment, investing in whisky could still be worth considering for those who want to turn a hobby into a money-spinner, according to AAA.

Boston, MA, USA, May 3, 2012 — Although the wine investment market is going through a tough spell at the moment, investing in whisky could still be worth considering for those who want to turn a hobby into a money-spinner, according to Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA).

The alternative investment advocacy group claims that there is money to be made from investing in rare Scotch and other whiskies, that could grow in value over the coming years. AAA’s analysis partner, Anthony Johnson, explained: “many of us are looking for a true alternative investment strategy, which will leave us clear to avoid dealing with stocks, shares banks and bonds. Whisky could be the answer.”

One of the major draws for whisky investors is rare one-off releases, such as John Walker and Sons Diamond Jubilee Whisky, which is priced at £100,000. Although this does come at a high price, the exclusivity of this asset could prove its winning characteristic in a few years time, claims Mr Johnson.

This is not based on rumour, but on fact. “The top-performing ten whiskies gained 400 per cent of their value between 2008 and 2011,” claimed Mr Johnson. Gains of 245 per cent were recorded for the top 100.

Some less expensive whiskies can also prove profitable and a little less risky, claimed AAA, which advocates a wide range of alternative investments. It added that single malts from producers like Macallan and Glenlivet can turn a good profit – particularly if you buy up some rare or older varieties, according to AAA.

As well as interest-based alternatives, like investing in art, wine, whisky, collectibles and real estate, AAA also promotes investing in forestry and timber. “Fast growing timber species, like teak and eucalyptus, can be grown rapidly and sold for a huge profit once the trees reach maturity,”explained Mr Johnson. Those interested in investing in such plantations can contact Greenwood Management about their sustainable projects in Brazil.

AAA champions Geldof’s Africa investment message

Campaigner Bob Geldof took the opportunity of the annual Superreturn International conference in Berlin to spend an hour extolling the virtues of investing in Africa, in a move that has been welcomes by impact investing advocacy group, AAA.

Boston, MA, USA, March 31, 2012 — Campaigner Bob Geldof took the opportunity of the annual Superreturn International conference in Berlin to spend an hour extolling the virtues of investing in Africa, in a move that has been welcomes by impact investing advocacy group, Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA).

AAA claims that Geldof’s speech roused interest in the opportunities that investing in Africa offers. He effectively massaged the egos of the private equity investor crowd with statements like: “You must go and kick the tyres. You are the guys who go where capital needs to go. Capital will only go where it is sent.”

He also spoke about the vast resources that Africa holds and how the investors should not be left behind, leaving the opportunity to others: “Do we leave this vast continent, with all the resources we will ever need, do we leave it to China? Eight miles from Europe, do we just leave it to them?”

Geldof is involved in his own Africa-focused investment vehicles, called 8 Mile, which has already attracted $200 million of investment.

AAA’s analysis partner Anthony Johnson said, “The timing of Geldof’ speech was perfect as impact investing and investing in environmentally and socially responsible schemes in the developing world is increasingly popular right now.”

He added, “The equity markets are still on very shaky ground and traditional investments are not looking as attractive as they once were.”

AAA supports investment in a number of ethical projects, Including the sustainable plantation schemes run by Greenwood Management and a number of other similar firms in Brazil, the US, Canada, Costa Rica and other high-forested regions.

Mr Johnson said, “Investing in timber is a popular option at the moment as demand is set to continue to grow off the back of economic growth in China and India. Demand for raw materials like Timber is set to exceed supply soon enough, which will drive prices skyward.”

College Impact investing challenge welcomed by AAA

Highlighting the popularity of alternative investments is this year’s International Impact Investing Challenge at Northwestern University and the University of California, which has been welcomed by AAA.

Boston, MA, March 23, 2012 – Highlighting the popularity of alternative investments and impact investing is this year’s International Impact Investing Challenge at Northwestern University and the University of California, which has been welcomed by Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA).

The challenge, run by the universities’ business schools, sponsors some of their brightest and best financial minds to make ethical and profitable impact investing decisions, which will help onlookers to realise the benefits of this approach, according to AAA.

One of the schools involved is the Kellogg School of Management, whose associate director, Jamie Jones, said, “Now in its second year, the International Impact Investing Challenge encourages students from graduate schools around the world to identify strategies that create solutions for global social issues – as well as deliver financial returns.”

AAA’s analysis partner, Anthony Johnson added, “This sums up impact investing very well because making an ethical choice, that will make a difference to people in the developing world, does not have to come at financial price. Positives social impact and healthy returns are by no means mutually exclusive and we’re glad that initiatives like this are helping to spread the word.”

Some of the ideas that the teams came up with last year included dealing with food shortages in India and developing clean power for larger, established economies, like the US. More and more people are realising that their cash can help facilitate environmental or social change, while making them more profit than it would sitting in a savings account, explained AAA.

AAA is an alternative investment advocacy group that also supports impact investment in developing economies around the world. It supports environmentally responsible investment projects such as the plantation schemes run by firms like Greenwood Management in Brazil. “These schemes help to increase plantation timber, which in turn, helps to reduce the reliance on natural forests,” added Johnson.

Brazil is a great place to invest, claims AAA

The news that the Brazilian economy has started to outperform many others, including the UK’s, has acted as a prompt for many to start looking for ways to invest in the growing country, according to AAA.

Boston, MA, USA, March 13, 2012 — The news that the Brazilian economy has started to outperform many others, including the UK’s, has acted as a prompt for many to start looking for ways to invest in the growing country, according to Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA).

AAA, an alternative investment advocacy firm, has always seen Brazil as a great place to invest in commodities, such as timber, and in ethical and social funds, through impact investing routes. However, the world is expected to start investing cash in Brazil in droves thanks to the latest figures from the Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR).

Over the past ten years, the emerging economies of Brazil, Russia, India and China, otherwise known as the BRIC region, have offered a comparatively safe haven for investors keen to avoid investing in the volatile markets in the US and Europe.

Now, the figures show that this is even more the case as Brazil’s economy is officially the sixth largest in the world, leaving the UK in its wake. Analyst at the CEBR claim that within a few years, Brazil’s economy will be stronger than that of France and Germany, climbing further up the ranking of the world’s great economic super powers.

“Although last year’s 2.7 per cent growth wasn’t enormous, in the grand scale of things, Brazil continues to grow economically when many other top economies are still teetering on the edge of recession” explained AAA’s analysis partner, Anthony Johnson.

He added, “There has rarely been a better time to invest in emerging economies and investors who want to diversify their portfolios could not do better than investing in sustainable forestry in Brazil.

“We support the plantation projects bin run by firms like Greenwood Management, who are offering a unique and low-entry route into Brazilian investment, with an ethical edge.”

AAA welcomes pro-alternative article by investing expert

A recent article by City Commodities investment manager, Dan Fox, written in myfinances.co.uk, has been welcomed by AAA.

Boston, MA, USA, February 20, 2012 — A recent article by City Commodities investment manager, Dan Fox, written in myfinances.co.uk, has been welcomed by Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA).

AAA is an alternative investment advocacy group and its analysis partner, Anthony Johnson claims that Mr Fox’s article highlights some very important benefits of alternative investments. Mr Fox claimed that most investors would enjoy the process of investing in alternative assets more than traditional stocks and shares.

Mr Fox explained that the process of investing in ethical causes is also rewarding in a way that investing in faceless corporations will never be. He talked about how the carbon credits markets will heat up at the end of the year when the Kyoto agreement expires. He said, “The expiration of this agreement will see a large rise in Voluntary Emissions Reductions (VERs) which are a type of credit that fall outside the guidelines and obligations of Kyoto, and thus open up a wider range of initiatives designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.”

Mr Johnson also points out Mr Fox’s assertion that alternative assets are more tangible and exciting that equities. AAA support investment in forestry as an excellent way to bring in strong returns while helping to increase CO2 absorption the protection and increase of forested land. An example is Greenwood Management‘s plantation scheme in Brazil, which allows investors to buy up sections of plantation land with all investors receiving returns based on the sustainable felling of trees after they have grown.

Mr Fox also talked about the satisfaction involved with spotting a great alternative asset class, which may even reflect one’s own interests, such as wine, rare coins or stamps or even designer clothing. Mr Fox explained, “Many people invest in fine wines and enjoy the excitement of building up an eclectic cellar as much as they do making money on it.”

AAA advocates investing in vintage fashion

Investing in vintage designer fashion is catching on as one of the more unusual alternative investment asset classes, according to AAA.

Boston, MA, February 09, 2012 – Investing in vintage designer fashion is catching on as one of the more unusual alternative investment asset classes, according to Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA).

The alternative investment advocacy group claims that people with an interest in fashion, as well as people simply with an interest in making great returns, are turning to classic couture to do so.

AAA’s claims are based on a recent CNBC interview wit William Bank-Blaney, who runs a lucrative vintage clothing retailer in London. He recommends starting with classic designer clothes from big names. He said, “If I was going to start investing in fashion, the key things I would start with would be works by the great masters.

“Ossie Clark for British design, Dior for French design, Norman Hartnell again for British design. These are pieces by iconic designers that have a worldwide appeal and audience.”

In terms of the return on investment potential, Blake-Blaney said that this is relatively strong: “Most pieces appreciate quite substantially. We are finding there is between a 10 and 20 percent year-on-year uplift in good pieces of vintage.”

Having a good eye helps in making the right choices, according to the CNBC article, which also includes interview with Kerry Taylor of Kerry Taylor Auctions. She adds that the best designer vintage garments are becoming increasingly rare, which obviously adds to their value. “There aren’t huge supplies for these things any more – they are running out,” she asserted.

Her advice to anyone thinking of investing in designer vintage was to look for designer labels, and for garments that are in great conditions and have not be altered in any way.

AAA is an advocate of investing in alternative asset classes, such as art, antiques, real estate, private equity, precious metals and forestry. “Forestry investment in particularly offers a great chance to make strong returns from a much less volatile market than equities,” stated AAA’s analysis partner, Anthony Johnson.

FRA highlights Money Morning article as a ‘Great place to start’

A new report on the benefits of timber investment in Money Morning, has attracted attention and praise from FRA.

Bainbridge Island, WA, February 01, 2012 – A new report on the benefits of timber investment in Money Morning, has attracted attention and praise from Forestry Research Associates (FRA).

The research and analysis consultancy has highlighted the article, written by investment writer Don Miller, as “A great place to start your research if are considering investing in forestry.”

Mr Miller lists the numerous benefits of opting for a timber investment, arguing that the option is a low-risk strategy with better returns than most, or even all, traditional asset classes. In fact, Mr Miller states, “Investing in timber has proven to be more profitable – and less risky – than any other asset class for almost 100 years.”

According to figures from The Campbell Group, cited in the article, timber returns have averaged 14 per cent each year between 1987 and 2010. In addition, the returns on timber are a lot less volatile than the returns on equity investments, according to the figures.

FRA supports the claim that timber investments are a good idea when the economy is struggling, as it holds its own while other asset classes falter. An example given my Mr Miller is that of the Great Depression, during which timber prices increased by 233 per cent, while stock market values tumbled by 70 per cent.

“Although the effect during the current downturn will not be felt quite as strongly as this, there are several features of timber investment that makes it attractive at times like these,” claimed Peter Collins, FRA’s analysis partner.

One of the best reasons for investing in timber is the lack of pressure on when the investment should be cashed in, Claims FRA. When the tree reaches maturity, if timber prices aren’t great, you can simply hang on in there and watch your asset grow even further. “Most timber-grade trees grow an average of per cent per year – which means that every year you don’t cut them down, they’re worth about eight per cent more,” explained Miller.

Firms like Greenwood Management offer great deals on timber investments, through plantation schemes in Brazil and Canada. Initial outlays needn’t be more than around $10,000 and investors will get a more diverse portfolio in exchange.

Impact investing conference welcomed by AAA

Alternative investment advocacy group, AAA, has announced its support for an impact investing conference coming to Hawaii later this year.

Boston, MA, January 18, 2012 – Alternative investment advocacy group, Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA), has announced its support for an impact investing conference coming to Hawaii on February 9.

The conference, focused entirely on impact investing, is to take place in Hawaii in an attempt to raise more awareness and interest in socially and environmentally responsible investing in the island nation.

Chenoa Farnsworth, a local venture capitalist, has organised the event at the Honolulu Centre, aimed firmly at philanthropists, as well as at traditional investors, entrepreneurs and those simply interested in diversifying their portfolios to include an ethical, alternative option.

Impact investing is increasingly attractive to those who may not have thought of themselves as philanthropists or even alternative investors, Anthony Johnson, AAA’s analysis partner has claimed. “Ms Farnsworth is an example of those who are seeing the light as a result of the economic crisis and the greed and ignorance that led banks down such a disastrous route,” added Johnson.

Farnsworth explained, “About a year and a half ago, I became interested in impact investments, which is looking for both financial returns and social and economic benefit.”

She added, “Hawaii has a tremendous growing climate and conditions and several crop-related companies are starting or moving here to test their crop viability. These include biofuels feedstock and petroleum-based ingredients substitutes such as algae.”

Growing sustainable crops and forests are central to AAA’s support for impact investing in developing countries, where generating foreign investment in sustainable forestry projects can help reduce deforestation while providing healthy returns. “Projects like the plantation schemes run by Greenwood Management in Brazil offer the chance of strong, reliable returns through timber price increases and natural growth, while helping to safeguard the future of the sustainable Brazilian forestry industry for generations to come,” explained Mr Johnson.

Representatives from several Hawaii-based impact investing schemes will be attending and speaking at the event.

Ethical investment survey welcomed as ‘Great tool’ by AAA

Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA) has commented on the latest survey from IFA Barchester Green Investment, which intends to find the best and worst ethical investments in the UK.

Boston, MA, January 10, 2012 – Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA) has commented on the latest survey from IFA Barchester Green Investment, which intends to find the best and worst ethical investments in the UK.

“Barchester’s Heroes and Villains survey is a great tool for anyone looking to make an ethical investment in 2012,” commented AAA’s Anthony Johnson. The analysts for the alternative investment advocacy and research group, added, “Here at AAA, we believe that it is possible to make money while making a positive impact on social and environmental issues, particularly by investing in projects working in developing countries.”

The Barchester survey looks to whether certain funds within the ethical and environmental sector are living up to their long-term goals and generating return for investors. The top-ranked fund for 2011 was the Aviva Sustainable Future Managed Fund, which has £310 million of assets under management at the moment.

Other funds to make the Heroes list included the Kames Ethical Equity Fund, Henderson Industries of the Future and the Cheviot Climate Assets. There has been a major increase in interest in ethical funds in recent years, thanks to a general move towards alternatives in response to volatility within the equity markets.

“When people are looking for an alternative fund, they are often drawn towards ethical options as they can also be some of the most profitable for investors,” added Mr Johnson.

AAA supports a range of impact investing options, as well as non-fund based investments, like direct forestry investment through firms like Greenwood Management. This option involves buying up sections of plantation land in countries like Brazil and Canada and making profits as the trees grow and are sold off for timber. The whole process is sustainable and both encourages and demonstrates managed forestry techniques in countries that need to protect their forestry industries for generations to come.
