Toronto (ON), Canada — Zevrix Solutions today announces Package Central 1.9.8, a maintenance update to its automated solution to collect Adobe InDesign documents. Originally developed for a major publisher in the United States, the software automates InDesign packaging by processing files from watched hot folders.
The new version lets users send Package Central’s email notifications via Microsoft Exchange SMTP servers. This ability is especially useful in corporate environments where email servers are set up to not allow authentication over a plaintext connection. The update also improves the reliability of email transfer, addresses a crash that could be caused by a missing SMTP password, and introduces several UI improvements and bug fixes.
Under Package Central workflow, production artists, prepress operators and designers simply submit InDesign files to watched hot folders that reside on a network. The software offloads document collection to a central system thus freeing user’s time for important tasks such as design and layout. Operator workstations will never again be tied up by the packaging process.
