About Presenter RoseAnn Ruccello-Fischer

RoseAnne Ruccello-Fischer has a passion for premium olive oil and she’s turned that passion into a vocation, recently launching Ruccello Olive Oil, which specializes in Extra Virgin Olive Oils from Italy and California, hand-crafted olive wood items and handmade aprons.

Starting April 1st, Ruccello Olive Oil will offer on its website, ruccellooliveoil.com, Extra Virgin Olive Oil from the Tuscany region in Italy and California, handmade olive wood bowls and cutting boards, and aprons crafted by hand. In the future, she hopes to offer more varieties of Extra Virgin Olive Oil from around the world. She also currently imports European antiques with her husband in partnership with a company in Carmel Valley.

Ruccello-Fischer may be passionate about olive oil, but she’s equally passionate about eating and living well. She’s been in the health care field for more than 30 years and is a Clinical Laboratory Scientist, so she’s well acquainted with the many health benefits of olive oil. But it wasn’t until 2015, when she and her husband bought a small house in Tuscany nestled in the Chianti hills, with vineyards and olive groves everywhere you could see, that the idea of running her own olive oil business took seed.

A local business owner in their small Italian town suggested importing extra virgin olive oil to the U.S., an idea that appealed to her. She wanted to learn everything she could about olive oil, so signed up for an Olive Oil Sommelier class. The original business idea didn’t pan out, but she did learn quite a bit about olive oil, especially the fact that many olive oils for sale in the U.S. are mislabeled and adulterated and that customers were being duped into buying Extra Virgin Olive Oil that was either virgin olive oil or lampante oil, which is not fit for human consumption.

So she decided she wanted to educate American consumers and offer them the best Extra Virgin Olive Oil that the world has to offer. Ruccello Olive Oil was founded, the name taken from her maiden name. She’s already working with three olive oil producers in Italy and one in California, with another from Italy in the works.

About John Lewis

John Lewis found his calling as a college student at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, though it wasn’t how you might expect a career path to unfold. Flash forward to 2017, as Lewis is now the founder of Lewis Builders, which specializes in designing and building custom homes, doing design/build remodels and “aging-in-place” renovations for retirees, older people and those with health concerns. His firm employs 15 people and moved into new offices in The Barnyard Shopping Center in Carmel.

“We have a passion for helping those who are aging and just want to keep their dignity and independence in their own homes,” says Lewis. “We’re trying to educate the public on design/build and aging-in-place.”

Design/build, simply put, is the same company doing the design and construction, from conception to completion, of a custom home or remodel. Design/builders have a better conception of the real costs of a project and how to fit that into a client’s budget; it saves significant time in the overall project; and the construction team works collaboratively with the design team.

Aging-in-place is customizing homes with innovative, aesthetically pleasing solutions that alleviate the physical challenges of aging or injury.

It’s not just a specialty, Lewis Builders is a credentialed expert in CAPS (Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist). A program of the National Association of Home Builders, the Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS) designation program teaches the technical, business management, and customer service skills essential to competing in the fastest growing segment of the residential remodeling industry: home modifications for the aging-in-place.

“When people discover that cost of living in an assisted-living facility can be $10,000 or $20,000 a month, making modifications to their own homes becomes a no-brainer,” he says. “The ultimate result is that people are able to live comfortably and safely in their homes into their later years, rather than moving into costly assisted-living facilities.”

Born and raised in Monterey County, the youngest of five children, Lewis’s passion for the creative process of designing and building custom homes and remodels that started with small repair jobs in college, has now become his life’s work.

How I Fell in Love Online Keynotes Dating Expo

Dating websites, Keynote Address, and Dance Party are featured at the Online Dating Expo, September 7, 2013, at the DoubleTree Hotel San Francisco Airport.

SAN RAFAEL, CA, USA (July 25, 2013) — Contact: Tom Andrews, 415-507-9962

John and Loretta Gavin, creators of the new book Online Dating S*cks…but it’s how I fell in love, will keynote the Online Dating Expo, Saturday, September 7, 2013, 7pm-Midnight, at the DoubleTree Hotel San Francisco Airport, 835 Airport Blvd, Burlingame CA.

“One of the biggest mistakes in online dating is having s*x too early,” say The Gavins, (who barely avoided the mistake themselves). “Online dating makes getting dates EASIER, but falling in love HARDER. Among guys the ease of arranging dates online creates the mindset of ‘Next…always next.’ It then becomes difficult for men to be fully ‘present’ during any one date because of anticipation of dates to come. Men fall into the trap of making their goal to find dates rather than to find the right partner. As a result, women feel pressured to have s*x too early in the relationship, because they know this guy in front of them is likely dating other women as well. The result is lots of dates, but very few lasting relationships.

“It’s important to find out if this person you’re considering being intimate with is a good match for you,” say The Gavins. “If you don’t find out who they are, and if they’re right for you, before parting the sheets-it can be too late afterwards. The point of online dating should be to find your LAST first date rather than your NEXT one.”

John & Loretta Gavin, who recently married, are available to the news media for interviews by calling 209-202-4970. Their website is http://www.onlinedatingsucksbook.com.

The Online Dating Expo begins at 7pm with exhibits of leading dating websites. At 7:30pm, representatives of these websites will give a quick overview of the options they provide. The Keynote Address is at 8pm, followed by a Dance Party until midnight.

The Expo is co-sponsored by The International Association of Dating Websites, a non-profit trade association for the online dating industry, at iadw.org; The Society of Single Professionals, the world’s largest non-profit singles organization; and by numerous dating websites. Adults of all ages are welcome. The cost is $20 at the door. Anyone wishing more information may visit http://www.thepartyhotline.com or call 415-507-9962.

FPL turns Innovation into an Experience for its Customers at Company-Wide Expo

“Our operations and maintenance costs are 30 percent better than the industry average. That’s a testament to our innovative employees and it’s one of the ways we offer such a great value proposition for our customers – bills that are the lowest in the state and 25 percent lower than the national average,” said Jim Robo, chief operating officer for FPL’s parent company, NextEra Energy.

Juno Beach, FL (April 28, 2012) — Tom Kipp learned just how serious Florida Power & Light is about safety and reliability when he stopped by a booth at the company’s 18th annual Quality, Safety and Innovation Expo.

An FPL business client and the vice president of Production for Hoerbiger Corporation of America, Inc., Kipp was given a hands-on demonstration of how to safely cut metal cables by the employees of FPL’s Distribution team.

“One of the things I noticed was the enthusiasm of the FPL employees,” said Kipp of the Expo. “The Operational Excellence’s focus on continuous improvement appears not just to be a flavor of the month here. Whether it’s an engineer or a technician or someone from Human Resources, all those I met have the same commitment to improvement. The leadership has managed to make it a culture, rather than a program.”

The Expo is a companywide showcase of projects created by FPL employees to improve efficiency, reliability and safety. Welcoming thousands of people and featuring nearly 70 exhibition booths at the Juno Beach headquarters, the Expo spanned FPL’s customer-focused capabilities, ranging from advancing electric-vehicle technology to reducing power outages caused by pine and palm trees. Kipp was one of 98 business clients invited to attend the day-long event on April 27.

Sponsored by FPL’s departments of Corporate Operational Excellence and Corporate Safety, the Expo is an opportunity for teams of employees to share how they’ve employed Six Sigma-based quality techniques to solve process problems and improve existing programs. FPL offers employees an extensive Six Sigma program that awards certifications for varying levels of training, helping to create a network of more than 1,000 efficiency experts.

“The projects you’re seeing on display here today are just part of FPL’s relentless pursuit of efficiency,” said Jim Robo, chief operating officer for FPL’s parent company, NextEra Energy. “Our operations and maintenance costs are 30 percent better than the industry average. That’s a testament to our innovative employees and it’s one of the ways we offer such a great value proposition for our customers – bills that are the lowest in the state and 25 percent lower than the national average.”

Arizona’s International Sportsmen’s Expo coming to University of Phoenix Stadium to feature special guests author Hank Shaw and TV personality Lt. John Nores Jr.

The 12th annual Arizona International Sportsmen’s Exposition (ISE) arrives at the University of Phoenix Stadium, February 23-26th, 2012.

Glendale, AZ, February 07, 2012 – The 12th annual Arizona International Sportsmen’s Exposition (ISE) arrives at the University of Phoenix Stadium, February 23-26th, 2012.

This year, the ISE is proud to announce appearances by several celebrity guest speakers, including Lt. John Nores Jr., co-star of National Geographic TV’s Wild Justice, and Hank Shaw, author of Hunt, Gather, Cook.

More than 300 exhibiting companies will participate across the generous 160,000-square-foot space. Vendor booths include lodges and resorts, guides and outfitters, travel bureaus, manufacturers of outdoor products, outdoor-product retailers, boat and camping RV dealers, magazine and book publishers, websites, enthusiast clubs and groups, and nonprofit organizations representing a wide range of outdoor interests. ISE Phoenix also offers seminar theaters and interactive features such as DockDogs pond and contest, giant archery range and contest, huge casting pool, 40-ft.-long aquarium tank, two trophy displays, and a 8,000-sq.-ft. Youth Fair, hosted by Arizona Game and Fish Department. New special events include Boy Scouts camp, Arizona Deer Association auction and banquet, and Hunting the Rez Pavilion and auction.

Hank Shaw has captured a large and quickly growing fan base through his Honest-Food.net blog (nominated for a 2009 and 2010 James Beard award), and national book-release tour, which included local foraging followed by meal preparation in restaurants across America. Perhaps unique to the outdoor and, especially, hunting industry, Shaw has successfully connected with foodies and hardcore hunters, which shows the power of the appetites. At the ISE, Shaw will talk about how to prepare savory meals from game meat sourced from the farm or field. “Non-hunters who get whole animals are often at a loss about what to do with the less-glamorous cuts of the animal, so this presentation will definitely help with that.”

Lt. John Nores has also transcended his natural audience: hunters and anglers. A lifelong sportsman, Nores is featured on the acclaimed “Wild Justice” television show, which just began its second season on the National Geographic network. Nores is a California game warden who divides his time between rappelling out of helicopters, teaching young wardens the ropes, and traveling to western states to educate his colleagues and outdoor enthusiasts about illegal marijuana grows, a serious and expanding issue that Nores chronicled in his recent book, War in the Woods. Such grows destroy habitat, kill wildlife, pollute lands and waters, and endanger those who go outdoors–sometimes as close as the woods next door. Nores will speak at the ISE about close calls in the field and how hunters, anglers and campers can stay safe in the outdoors, even helping officers.

“The International Sportsmen’s Exposition is Arizona’s largest, most-diverse gathering of fishing, hunting and outdoor products and services all year,” said John Kirk, ISE’s Director of Communications. “With hundreds of exhibiting companies, free seminars throughout the day every day, free parking, giant Youth Fair plus free entry for youth under 16 and active military, the ISE is a tremendous family value.”

DETAILS: $15 adult admission, with discount coupons available on the show’s website. Hours: Thurs-Fri 10:00am – 6:00pm; Sat 10:00am – 6:00pm; Sun 10:00am – 5:00pm.
