No More Deaths/No Más Muertes Releases Border Songs CD Release

New Compilation To Benefit Arizona Humanitarian Group No More Deaths: Border Songs CD

Hollywood, CA, December 11, 2012 – Border Songs, a new compilation album to benefit the southern Arizona humanitarian group No More Deaths, is attempting to raise awareness of the tragedy on the border, disseminate art about the issue and raise money for humanitarian aid. Together, musicians, poets and artists are coming together to save lives and spread the message. The album is available online at: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bordersongs or through the Border Songs CD Project web page: http://www.bordersongs.org. Since its release October 12, Border Songs has been in the top 40 best selling albums list on the CD Baby website.

The two-CD set features 31 performances in both English and Spanish from a variety of different genres and styles including blues, corrido, cumbia, folk/Americana, hip hop, instrumental guitar, mambo, Nicaraguan new song, reggae, rock, and even an electronic recording of the wall itself.

Renowned artists contributing to the compilation include Sweet Honey In The Rock, whose song “Are We a Nation?” was written in direct response to Arizona’s anti-immigrant law, SB 1070. Other prominent musicians include Amos Lee, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Calexico, Joel Rafael, Tom Russell and Eliza Gilkyson. Salvadoran Lilo González, who himself crossed the border without documents, contributes a cumbia based on his own experience, “Ningún ser humano es ilegal” (No Human Being is Illegal). 93 year-old folk music legend Pete Seeger contributed his call for unity, his song “My Rainbow Race”.

Spoken word on the album includes a dramatic reading by Chicana performer Denise Chávez, excepts from an interview with Charles Bowden and an animal fable by M. Henry that will both entertain a child and inspire an adult to think.

Poets contributing work include Chilean Raúl Zurita, one of South America’s most important living poets, Salvadoran Mario Bencastro, whose poem “Arizona” honors migrants who have died in the desert, and North American Margaret Randall, whose poem “Offended Turf” is blended with Glenn Weyant’s electronic recording of the border wall. This diverse collection of border songs is held together by a common thread—a deep concern and solidarity for migrants, for people of all ethnicities, regardless of their country of origin.

All proceeds from the sale of the Border Songs CD will go to No More Deaths/No Más Muertes, a volunteer group that caches water in the desert, provides medical assistance and food to migrants, and helps recently deported people on the Mexican side of the border. Since 1994, more than 6,000 migrants have died along the US-Mexico border. According to the album’s co-producers Robert Neustadt and Chuck Cheesman, the mission of the Border Songs CD and No More Deaths is simple: to end death and suffering on the Arizona/Mexico border. Since the album’s release, the project has raised approximately $14,000 for No More Deaths. Each purchase will provide 29 gallons of water, or the equivalent in food or medical supplies to people in need.

The complete list of artists contributing to the Border Songs project features:
Amos Lee, Calacas Blues, Calexico, Charles Bowden, Christa Sadler, Chuck Cheesman, Classik & Pachuco, Cyril Barrett, Denise Chávez, Dúo Guardbarranco, Eliza Gilkyson, Eric Skye, Giant Giant Sand, Glenn Weyant, Joel Rafael, Lakesigns, Lilo Gonzalez, Los Románticos, Margaret Randall, Mario Bencastro, m. henry, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Óscar Sarmiento, Pete Seeger, Raúl Zurita, Robert Neustadt, Scott Ainslie, Sergio Mendoza y la Orkesta, Sweet Honey in the Rock, Ted Warmbrand, Tom Russell.

Organica Music Group Recording Artist Margo Rey Releases New CD “Habit”

Margo Rey Prepares For Her Upcoming National Holiday Tour With Dave Koz

Beverly Hills, CA, September 20, 2012 – Organica Music Group is pleased to announce the release of Margo Rey’s highly anticipated CD, Habit. The album features Margo’s new Top 20 charting single “Between Us,” as well as her recent hit song “Let the Rain.” The latter, co-written by Ms. Rey and the legendary John Oates, remained on the charts for an astonishing 21 weeks, making it Billboard’s “Hot Shot Debut” and additionally earning her kudos in the magazine’s “Bubbling Under” column. The duo also teamed up on the stunning cut “Saturn Returns.” Oates sings on both tracks and he provides an ideal complement to Rey’s powerful yet nuanced vocals. Listeners closest to it claim that Habit is its own brand of sonic luxury and Rey emerges as a force of nature — in heels no less.

In addition, Margo is preparing for her upcoming national holiday tour with Dave Koz, which is certain to please her diverse and loyal fan base. Based on her track record, Rey’s following is understandable. In less than a two-year span she has delivered five hits in diverse genres that include Adult Contemporary as well as Dance and Pop. She also charted two #1 Dance hits and if that’s not enough, Rey also generated an original Christmas hit.

The holiday tour kicks off on November 23rd with all dates found below. The Dave Koz and Friends Christmas Tour will be a high-energy tour featuring not only Margo Rey, but David Benoit, Javier Colon and Shelia E. Koz comments, “It never ceases to blow me away, how much people love holiday songs—as evidenced by our 15th anniversary of this tour! This year especially, we’ll try to fit in as many favorites as possible and add our own unique touches along the way.”

Reflecting on the direction of Habit Margo explains: “I wanted something ‘lo-fi’ as opposed to the cloned sounds of today’s pop culture environment. I needed my music to sound like me rather than the equipment it was recorded on. Plus, I feel a huge affinity — love affair even — for the singer/songwriter era of the seventies and eighties.” Ms. Rey employed a technique as simple as it is novel in today’s recording environment. She gathered extraordinary musicians in a room and they recorded (equally extraordinary) music together. If that doesn’t sound radical, it should — and Habit underscores the point. It’s a CD that never leaves the human vibe behind. It revels in it and, if anything, deepens it.

Margo has produced a collection of songs that reverberates with a gamut of emotions. Greed, love, lust, doubt, remorse, obsession and crazed vulnerability are all present — in abundance. “I hope listeners respond to the penetrating pulse in each of these songs. They’re an exploration of my contradictory feelings over the past two years.
Roll all of those emotional tangents into a set list and you have, well, something that I hope will become a “Habit.”

The album unleashes thirteen songs, all of which are original. One exception is a gorgeous cover of The Zombie’s hit, “She’s Not There.” If you think you’ve heard the song before, think again. This version has more down-under burn than most people can handle. But it gets better. Ms. Rey will be on tour. So hang on. Or, better yet, let yourself go. www.MargoRey.com

Habit was recorded and mixed at Rusk LA by Elton Ahi, mastered by Yossi Shaked, produced and arranged by Margo Rey in collaboration with Elton Ahi and Chris Wabich.

Jazz Saxophonist Hulon Releases Second cd “After Hours” Set for February 7 Release Date

New cd Features Howard Hewitt, Geoff Mcbride and New Radio Single, “Do You Feel Me”

Los Angeles, CA, February 03, 2012 – The urban jazz styling of Hulon has returned with his newest album, After Hours, releasing February 7th and is available on iTunes and Hulon’s website (www.hulon.com).

After the success of his debut album, First Impressions, Hulon’s newest album, After Hours, has combined passion and confidence creating Hulon’s best tracks to date. Hulon’s debut album spent 15 weeks on the Billboard Jazz Chart, peaking at #25, and featured the single “Sax on the Beach” which reached #16 on the Smooth Jazz.com Top 50 Indie Chart, and was featured on the noted jazz website AllAboutJazz.com, in addition to receiving national and international airplay at terrestrial and online radio.

The new 11 track set includes a vocal and instrumental version of the 1977 Heatwave classic “Always and Forever” and eight originals penned by Kashiwa that play to Hulon’s strengths as a soulful balladeer and a grooving R&B/funk player, with a few dashes of cool and swinging traditional jazz in the mix. Highlights include the sensual late night romance “You’re Beautiful,” the whimsical mid tempo light funk tune “Takin’ My Time,” the tropical chill of “Sticky Trickuation,” the sly, Pink Panther-esque “Speak Easy” (featuring shuffling drum, bass and finger snap rhythm) and the high octane horn-driven jam and first single from the new release, “Do You Feel Me.”

Hulon has collaborated once again with mentor, composer, producer and fellow saxophonist Jeff Kashiwa. World renowned for his years with The Rippingtons, The Sax Pack and numerous hit solo albums over the past 20 years, Kashiwa again brought in some of contemporary jazz’s most powerful and dynamic players to take Hulon’s musical game on the new collection to the next level including Dave Hooper (drums), Allen Hinds (guitar), Melvin Davis (bass) and Bill Heller (keyboards) all of whom have played key roles on First Impressions.

Yet there’s lot more to Hulon’s dynamic emergence onto the urban jazz scene than simple chart stats and the support of some of the genre’s best players. At its heart, it’s the story of a musical dream long deferred and unique connections between the spiritual and emotional healing power of music and the physical healing that Dr. Hulon E. Crayton does as a rheumatologist and founder of The Arthritis and Infusion Center, which specializes in the treatment of Rheumatological diseases as well as sports related injuries. The title of one of the tracks on After Hours, the tropical flavored groove tune, “Second Opinion” is a playful ode to his longtime profession. Official website: http://www.hulon.com

With the release of The Christmas song, Le Blues du businessman and LoveUmadly Eric van Aro proves to be one of the most versatile singers today

In 2001 Eric van Aro released his album “from the heart”, a collection of songs dating from the mid ’20s to the end of the last century that covers different styles including valse musette, world music, country & western, jazz, nursery rhymes, rap and hard rock.

“Friends”, the CD released in 2005, contains collaborations with musicians of the caliber of trumpet player Franco Ambrosetti, harmonica player Bruno de Filippi, drummer Flaviano Cuffari and many other Italian jazz and rock musicians. The album has won over the public and critics worldwide, establishing Eric van Aro as one of the most interesting and accomplished singers to have appeared on the jazz scene in the past few years.

With the release of DESERT MOTEL in 2008 Eric returns with an intriguing selection of songs from such tunesmiths as Winwood, Stills, Manilow, Webb and Metheny for a sublime musical Americana “on the road” experience.

In Summer 2010 Eric changes style and with the Beats4life label the first song JAZZ a collaboration with Marco Soundee, one of Italy’s major house music creators, is released in its various mixes and remixes to major acclaim from DJs around the world.

The Vincent Hayes Project’s “Reclamation” CD Snags #6 Spot on B.B. King’s Bluesville on XM Radio

East Lansing, Michigan – November 21, 2010 – The Vincent Hayes Project snags the Number Six Spot on B.B. King’s Bluesville Channel 74 on Sirius/XM Radio after making its Capital City debut performance at Reno’s East Sports Bar in East Lansing just two weeks ago. Returning to East Lansing where the band recorded their debut CD, “Reclamation” at the Grammy winning producer/engineer Glenn Brown Studios, the Vincent Hayes Project is rapidly claiming attention from some of the most influential names in the Blues Music industry. In the October-November 2010 issue of Big City Blues Magazine, Gary von Tersch refers to Vince Hayes as “Michigan-based blues guitarist, vocalist and songwriter extraordinaire.” von Tersch’s review of “Reclamation” reads, “Few musicians these days can sustain that aura of inner moodiness that is at the core of the blues for ten minutes on even one album cut – here Hayes does it twice.

Aided immeasurably by [Doc] Yankee’s piano, the slow-burning, long-ashed “I’ve Got A Right To Change My Mind” contains some brilliant, cliché-free lyrics and one of Hayes’ most soulful (a la Ray Charles or B.B. King) vocals along with some inspired, persuasively pensive guitar work that might even cause Clapton to raise an eyebrow in appreciation while the even longer “Some Kind Of Fool” has an organ backdrop, some deep-soul charged lyrics and a series of guitar passages that slowly and smoothly build the song’s intensity far into the red zone.” Blues lovers and professionals in the industry are welcoming “Reclamation” as is made evident in comment from B.B. King’s Bluesville, Sirius/XM D.J., Pat St. John’s comment of the band’s debut CD.

“I’m digging these tunes of yours! Everything I’ve heard from it is a winner. It’s a smoker!” says St. John. “Reclamation is a thoroughly modern blues album, but not a stale blues-rock album. The results speak for themselves: Alves [Dave Alves on bass and vocals] and Hugley [Donnie Hugley on percussion] form an air-tight unit that backs Hayes with a loose, funky groove, and Hayes proves to be a dexterous axe man whose charisma and love for the music shine strong throughout the disc,” says Living Blues Magazine October 2010. “Reclamation” is available on CDbaby, iTunes, Rhapsody, CDMojo, Amazon, Reverbnation, North61 Records the Vincent Hayes Project’s Record Label, and Amazon. About The Vincent Hayes Project Formed in 2004, the Vincent Hayes Project continues to perform for and impress blues lovers, recording artists, and industry professionals worldwide. Members include: Vincent Hayes, Guitar and Lead Vocals; Dave Alves, Bass and vocals; Donnie Hugley, percussion; Christian Van Antwerpen and Doc Yankee sharing keyboard duties.
