Aha eCommerce Service to Use GuardTime Keyless Signatures to Eliminate Fraud and Close the Trust Gap

All coupons and agreements are recorded and maintained with lifelong non-repudiation.

Mountain View, CA / Reykjavík, Iceland, Tuesday – December 20, 2011 — Aha ( http://www.aha.is ), one of the largest eCommerce companies in Iceland with its main focus on daily deals, selling Internet coupons for everything from spa treatments to Go-Kart racing, has teamed up with data integrity service provider GuardTime in order to bring Aha merchants peace of mind. With the GuardTime Keyless Signature Service, Aha will be able to solidify its business agreements, conduct tamper-evident coupon transaction auditing for all its daily deals, and wipe out the question of trust that can linger around the authenticity of the data.

Selling “deal of the day” e-coupons to consumers is hugely popular, as evidenced by Groupon Inc.’s recent $700 million initial public offering, the largest IPO by a U.S. Internet company since Google’s 2004 IPO. There are plenty of other daily deals sites to reference as well, including U.S. and UK-based Living Social, which last week managed a national offer for McDonald’s, the fast food chain’s largest daily deal ever.

Yet with so much money at stake, fraud attempts are bound to follow. Aside from risks of coupon tampering, daily deals service providers typically have full control over their transaction-processing and data storage systems which can also raise doubt in merchants’ minds concerning the handling of the data. Without a verifiable auditing system in place, how is a service provider to prove authenticity on its end in the event that a dispute arises?

For example, this week Groupon was accused of altering previously-sent emails which capture the details of its agreements with its merchants. Filing a class action lawsuit, BidMyCrib.com sued Groupon in a Chicago federal court for allegedly violating the Stored Communications Act by altering sent emails “in electronic storage.”While GuardTime has no insight into either party’s position on the matter, this is a case that would be easy to prove either way – and could have even been avoided – if Keyless Signatures had been applied.

Aha’s daily deals service uses digital and printed coupons, allowing merchants to log any usage through QR codes and a secure merchant fulfillment web portal. The terms of service are also negotiated and agreed upon prior to merchant deals being offered to consumers. With the number of merchants, consumers, and transactions residing within the Aha service platform, it is critical to have proof of who is involved, what each party has agreed to, and what activities have taken place. All aspects of each agreement and every step of each transaction require a verifiable audit trail. This is where GuardTime Keyless Signatures ( http://www.guardtime.com ) come into play.

“The amount of activity on any one daily deals website creates a lot of traffic and a lot of noise that opens the opportunity for a tremendous amount of fraud, and even accidental mishandling of coupons by the merchants themselves,” says Mike Gault, GuardTime CEO. “By digitally signing all transactions through a third party, Aha can strengthen its relationships with its merchants, converting trust-based hand shakes into proof-based binding digital agreements.”

“As a company with a strong focus on eCommerce, we see tremendous value in using Keyless Signatures,” says Maron Kristófersson, CEO of Aha.”We currently sign 3-4 agreements with customers each day; with Keyless Signatures we envision a future in which all these agreements are finalized online, saving us paper, simplifying accounting, and saving a tremendous amount of time in our sales processes.”

In addition to increasing efficiency and turning the data that passes though Aha’s system into signed, tamper-evident data, the GuardTime Keyless Signature Service ( http://www.guardtime.com ) isal so the only solution to provide Aha with the ability to independently verify the signatures without reliance on GuardTime or any other third party.

“With GuardTime we have bank-grade, tamper-evident security and can produce a verifiable digital audit trail for every action, “added Kristófersson. “Merchants that use our system have practically eliminated the risk of processing false coupons as the success rate for coupon tampering is as likely as winning the lottery.”

In summary, by using the GuardTime Keyless Signature Service, Aha receives the following benefits:
* All business arrangements and associated agreements are recorded and maintained with lifelong non-repudiation.
* Merchants can prove electronic coupon authenticity prior to accepting and processing.
* All parties have proof of the status of electronic coupons.
* Trust is now backed by mathematics.

ArivisWebView Allows 3D Image Viewing of Gigabyte Images in Web Browsers

First of its kind, WebView3D can visualize volumetric data.

Seattle (USA) / Berlin (Germany), Wednesday – December 14, 2011 — Arivis ( http://www.arivis.com ), the leading provider of software for the visualization and analysis of high-dimensional image data of almost unlimited size, today announced beta version of WebView 3.0 with 3D rendering.

WebView3D is a new SaaS-based tool that allows users to view, manipulate, annotate and collaborate on multi-gigapixel images and render 3D image stacks using popular and common Internet browsers. WebView 3D is part of ArivisWebView, a modular framework for image visualization and annotation on the Internet.

In short, WebView3D visualizes volumetric data. For example, in a life sciences or medical application WebView3D could be used to show large computer tomography scans over the web.

“The idea behind WebView3D is to allow for the easy sharing and manipulation of volumetric data and large 3D images such as those generated by microscopical or X-ray computed tomography, or industrial CT scanning, for example,” says Arivis founder Christian Götze. “Size is never an issue. Our products incorporate, combine, manage, visualize, and analyze image data, independent from its origin, dimensionality and dimension.”

WebView3D ( http://webview3d.arivis.com/ ) takes advantage of the platform-independent WebGL interface based on OpenGL standards and freely available on Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, and the open source Opera browser. WebView3D support for Microsoft Explorer is forthcoming. (No plug-ins necessary.)

The ArivisWebView framework ( http://www.arivis.com ) also provides a layer of collaboration tools such as marking annotations directly on regions of interest, editorial tracking by author, time and date stamping, and archiving. For example, Boston doctors can share virtual pathological slides from a cancer patient and get a second opinion by specialists from Berlin without having to download or upload the massive file locally.

Although WebView3D can be used for sharing and viewing 3D images in life sciences, neuroscience, and biotechnology, its applications are not limited strictly to applied sciences.

Using the new WebGL technology, WebView3D can render interactive 3D data quickly and at high resolution quality in standard web browsers. Being a standard compliant solution, the 3D technology can be implemented in any web application and interact with existing systems or used in third-party applications.

WebView3D will be available as a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model, or sold as server software. The beta version can be demoed by visiting: http://webview3d.arivis.com/.

About Arivis:
With offices in Berlin, Germany and Seattle, Arivis products incorporate, combine, manage, visualize, and analyze image data, independent from its origin, dimensionality and dimension. Its software solutions are designed to give users fast and easy access on any pixel images from scientific sources as microscopes and computer tomographs (CT). The company provides modular software systems for scientific image processing and image analysis, finding solutions for a cost-effective and time-efficient processing of nearly indefinitely large, complex image data and in cases where conventional software fails because of excessively large image data. Build Your Enterprise IT 100% on the Web: It’s Pure Cloud

It’s time to think Pure Cloud Solutions with your whole IT built 100% on the web.

San Jose, CA (USA), Friday – December 09, 2011 — Your Business Applications can either be built exclusively on the web using cloud platforms such as Google Apps, or they can be integrated into legacy systems, bridging the gap between old and new information systems. Netkiller, a leading global cloud IT integration firm, specializes in building applications on the Google Apps platform as well as Salesforce.com. Pure Cloud Solutions augments your systems by building on your existing IT structures.

Here are a few cases of Pure Cloud Solutions:

Workflow Management:
http://youtu.be/KzsLpnTTbhM (English Caption)
This shows pure Google Apps workflow management systems developed for companies such as MS-Autotech and PHC Valeo. These systems run 100% on the web utilizing a Google Apps document based workflow, which guarantees security and function through Google’s Service Level Agreement (SLA), which sports a 99.9% uptime guarantee (the best in the industry), and extends to any application or system developed purely on the Google cloud. Its content and function are both secure whenever, and where ever there is access to the web. TaeKyu Lee, CEO of MS-Autotech Co., said “Google Apps give innovative communication with great security; pure Google Apps solutions keep our security strong under Google’s SLA.”

NICER Emergency Response System:
Forest Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps (FHVAC) utilizes a Pure Google Apps solution called NICER (Netkiller Internet Cloud Emergency Responder) designed and developed for storing and dispatching ambulance response in a timely and efficient manner. NICER is built entirely on the Google Apps Cloud platform, providing for secure connections (again, 99.9% up time guaranteed). Because NICER is built purely on this platform, it runs within Google Apps for Education accounts without the need for third party applications. Alan Wolfe, the President of Forest Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps, remarked, “Netkiller was able to design exactly what we needed to track our ambulance response. NICER is an easy, convenient and efficient tool that we can afford.” Because NICER is a cloud solution it can be accessed by multiple users from any Internet-enabled computer.

Custom Databases, Help Desks, and Inventory systems:
Specialized applications have been developed for organizations like NTI, which required secure SSO access to web applications for specified separate groups, a custom database that interfaces the mobile UI for data import to a mapping program for website displays, a flexible report generator for personnel, customers, and public safety, a custom online help desk, and applications integrating mail, messaging, and online access to files and collaborative materials as well as integration between customer and management applications. These web applications built by Netkiller, such as help desks and inventory systems, benefit from the security and reliability of cloud platforms like Google Apps. Localist, an organization dedicated to connecting students with events in an academic setting, is another organization that utilizes a help desk constructed on the web by Netkiller. The benefits of these systems moving onto the cloud is that they maintain top-of-the-line security, while also staying at the cutting edge of technology in terms of functionality and development.

These are only a few examples of pure cloud solutions that Netkiller has developed. The possibilities for application functionality are limitless. Beyond developing applications purely on cloud platforms, Netkiller can also work with existing ERP structures to integrate the newest technology into legacy systems. Organizations in any industry can benefit from the expertise of Netkiller’s specialists, whether an entirely new system is required, or a specific application must be integrated into existing systems.

Sungwook Jung, CEO of Netkiller said “Enterprise businesses need great security and stability as much as Google does. We help Enterprise customers to gain that security by going 100% Cloud with Netkiller’s Pure Google Apps based solutions. It’s the best way to protect a customer’s data against security risks.”

Netkiller is a Google Enterprise Solution Provider, Salesforce.com Partner, and Google Apps Authorized Reseller. Netkiller currently services over 20,000 company accounts worldwide and has provided enterprise cloud solutions for such diverse industries as health care, automotive technology, and education, as well as many others.

How One Dollar Lights Up Africa – The success of the WakaWaka Solar Lamp

In the beginning there was light for all – and a little later there was electric light for, well, only some of us: 1.5 billion people still live in darkness. Dutch startup Off-Grid Solutions makes an end to developing countries’ killing kerosene dependency. They want their high-tech, low-cost WakaWaka solar LED lamp to light up Africa ‘like a Christmas tree’.

Via Kickstarter.com, the general public is now enthusiastically pre-ordering WakaWaka´s for 35 dollars each. The minimal support to contribute to their mission is one dollar. Thanks to this innovative way of crowdfunding, WakaWaka grows at the speed of light .And with it, the dream of providing all Africans with a sustainable light solution becomes more real by the minute.

1.5 billion people live off-grid. They depend on kerosene fuel for their basic lighting needs. Annually millions of children suffer severe burns from accidents with kerosene lamps. The toxic fumes cause even more health problems. World Bank reports that each day 780 million women and children inhale the equivalent of two packs of cigarettes as a result of indoor air pollution.

Fuels for lighting take up to 20% of income of people who try to survive on less than $2 a day. This way, the poor stay poor. But there is light at the end of the tunnel: WakaWaka solar LED light.

The WakaWaka (‘Shine Bright’ in Swahili) solar lamp uses the latest in patented solar technology developed by Intivation, allowing for superior charging in any weather conditions.

Each day of free solar charging gives 16 hours of decent reading light. It has different light intensities and fits on a bottle, stimulating recycling and opening up opportunities for joint promotions. Innovative distribution methods will reach even the most remote rural areas. Various accessories (cell phone chargers, radios, etc.) are already in development, which will further enhance livelihood and help people get out of poverty.

Co-founder Camille van Gestel: ‘I genuinely believe that if you can make a difference, you must. I have never done anything with so much passion. The support and inquiries we are receiving for WakaWaka from all over the world are as stimulating as they are heartwarming. We are doing the right thing.’

Let’s hope this new bright light spreads fast, for all and everybody. LED there be light.

VisitMobileTM Launches Visit Cherry Creek North Mobile ConciergeTM

Just in time for the holidays, new Mobile Concierge technology helps guests make the most of their visit

Boulder, Colorado, December 01, 2011 – VisitMobile is proud to announce the launch of the Visit Cherry Creek North Mobile Concierge. Mimicking a real destination concierge, the Visit Cherry Creek North app is more than just an online visitor’s guide or optimized mobile website. It delivers real-time shopping, dining and visitor advice with insider knowledge for guests when they need it most – during their visits to the District. The app includes GPS technology with localized expert content, multimedia to help guests find specific merchants, easy access to phone numbers for quick restaurant reservations, access to special offers and deals and much more.

“With the advancement and dependence on mobile technology, this app is a great addition for both our guests and our merchants,” said CCNBID President and CEO Julie Bender. “Cherry Creek North is a magical place to shop, dine and visit, and this resource will make the experience even more interactive, convenient and meaningful for consumers and businesses alike.”

In addition to customizing and fulfilling Cherry Creek North’s mobile strategy, VisitMobile’s Mobile Concierge platform will provide the BID with an ongoing revenue stream through in-app enhanced listings and numerous advertising opportunities. Mobile Concierge also allows Cherry Creek North to easily demonstrate the value they are delivering to their merchant partners and BID members through measurable metrics and detailed usage reports. VisitMobile’s innovative approach to destination mobile marketing is so revolutionary, it garnered the prestigious Platinum Adrian Award from the HSMAI (Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International) in January 2011, as well as a 2011 Platinum MarCom award from Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals (AMCP) for Napa Valley’s Mobile Concierge.

Mobile Concierge is fundamentally different than simply creating a destination guide application or a mobile optimized version of an existing website. Visitors who are already in the BID need information in a completely different format than those who are planning a future visit. Mobile Concierge uses a powerful GPS Relevancy Engine loaded with expert local content and multimedia to help the in-market visitor find retail shops that match their needs, make restaurant reservations, access insider deals and decide what to do next.

With the recent surge of unofficial destination apps and mobile search engines, research shows that less than 20 percent of visitors return to the destination’s website for local information after they arrive. Mobile Concierge is a dream solution for BIDs, CVBs, resorts and even college campuses looking to take back control of the conversation.

“BIDs spend tens of thousands of dollars on mass media and websites to attract guests to their destination, but they lose control of the guest’s experience once they arrive,” explained VisitMobile CEO Jeff Kohn. “Mobile Concierge will offer Cherry Creek North a unique competitive advantage; the opportunity to continue interacting with their visitors in a way that benefits the guest and maximizes revenue for their merchant partners.”

Cherry Creek North is known nationally as a premier retail, dining, and mixed-use area located just 5 minutes from downtown Denver. More than 350 businesses that make up the neighborhood are independent to international brands, featuring a broad range of unique fashion, jewelry and home furnishing stores, spas/salons, art galleries and restaurants. In addition to retail businesses, the District is also a national and regional office center, home to two hotels, and has a growing number of residents. In combination with the Cherry Creek Shopping Center, CCN is the number one visitor destination in Colorado, according to the Longwoods Study conducted for Visit Denver Inc.

To download the free app, people can go to www.CherryCreekNorth.com or visit their phone’s app store and search for “Cherry Creek North.”

Even better than a stationary hotel concierge desk, the trusted Mobile Concierge is always on hand as the guest explores the BID, and is ready to answer their question, “I’m right here, now what should I do?” Mobile Concierge bridges GPS map-based navigation and time-based, hyper-local content to help both leisure and business visitors discover nearby and timely events, attractions, dining, shopping, special offers and more. Whether a visitor has an iPhone, Blackberry or Android device, Mobile Concierge is available for every platform.

Mobile Concierge is not just affordable; it’s incredibly easy to manage. With the added benefit of trackable metrics for merchants and opportunities to create offset advertising revenue for the BID, Mobile Concierge is a “win-win-win” for BIDs, merchants and visitors.

Destinations and clients already experiencing success with VisitMobile’s Mobile Concierge include Napa Valley, Steamboat Ski Resort, Keystone Colorado, Destination Halifax (Nova Scotia, Canada) and Flatiron Meal Plan, the student meal plan for University of Colorado, Boulder. Other VisitMobile clients that are in the process of deploying their custom Mobile Concierge are Visit Aurora (Colo.), Downtown Denver Partnership, Southern Idaho Tourism, Boulder Weekly (Colo.), and Rocky Mountain Meal Plan (Ft. Collins, Colo.).

VisitMobile serves as an on-the-go trusted advisor helping visitors discover nearby attractions, businesses, and events through a patented GPS Relevancy EngineTM. Mimicking a real concierge, VisitMobile uses expert local content and multimedia to help visitors make instant reservations or ticket purchases, access insider deals, or see what’s around them to answer the question “what should I do next?” As the official Mobile Concierge of the destination, VisitMobile allows the destination marketing organization to maintain control of the conversation and in turn, maximize revenue for destination partners.
