John L. O’Brien, Ph.D., Author and Thinkiatrist, Introduces New Book: Live A Happier A.N.T. Free Life Or Your Money Back!

Dr. John O’Brien has discovered and created 5 Steps, 5 Principles, and a simple fool-proof self-help process for millions motivated to find lasting happiness and emotional peace in their lives each day.

Denver, CO, USA – September 5, 2012 — Six years ago Dr. John Lindsay O’Brien discovered five unique principles, aligned them sequentially and had the following “aha” mental moment; no negative human emotion can possibly exist without the A.N.T. (Automatic Negative Thought) that created it. Dr. O’Brien has compiled his astounding findings in his new book – Live A Happier A.N.T. Free Life Or Your Money Back!

Regarding his work, Dr. O’Brien said, “For my entire life, my emotions, psychological functioning, and overall quality of life had been controlled by my totally unrecognized addiction to my own Automatic Negative Thoughts, ANTS.”

Dr. O’Brien grew up with a parent whose mental illness was not diagnosed for more than 10 years. His own emotional distress began to manifest itself physically when he was 7 years-old – he was unable to speak without a humiliating stammer and stutter.

Driven by his fear of suffering mental illness like his parent, he spent more than fifty years struggling emotionally, reading, studying human emotions, and the way we think. His life mission became how to find lasting happiness and emotional peace. This led to Dr. O’Brien developing Thinkiatry’s Principles and Process to exterminate individual’s unique ANT Colonies and his subsequent book – Live A Happier A.N.T. Free Life Or Your Money Back!

A partial list of emotional conditions that can be self-treated and significantly reduced, or in some cases eliminated, when people learn to use Thinkiatry Principles includes: divorce, weight problems, stress anxiety, addictions, anger, sadness, hatred, obesity, jealousy, insecurity, bullying, loneliness, arrogance, hypocrisy and fear.

Live A Happier A.N.T. Free Life Or Your Money Back! is presented as a coaching guide to explain how Dr. O’Brien’s more than fifty-year personal struggle to find the Holy Grail of personal development, emotional health, and a happier life has come true, as it will for countless readers or their money back!

A reader from Perth, Australia who reviewed the book said, “This book is an outstanding piece of work. I simply cannot recommend it enough for those seeking an inner peace. In many ways John’s principles and experiences at the harsh coal face of life have combined in what is in many ways ground breaking work. If you want answers, then this is the book!”

Dr. O’Brien provides a full schedule of “Live” Online Group and Private Tutored Workshops to coach reader’s transitions to include Thinkiatry’s Principles as their daily life partners on his website (http://www.happierantfreelife.com).

Published by First Edition Design Publishing (http://www.firsteditiondesignpublishing.com), (158 pages, print ISBN 9781937520809, eBook ISBN 97819375208) Dr. John O’Brien’s Live A Happier A.N.T. Free Life Or Your Money Back! is available on-line wherever books are sold.

Eating Disorder Triggers High During Back to School Transition

Eating Recovery Center Urges Parents to be Vigilant for Eating Disorder Signs

Denver, CO, August 29, 2012 – Research has shown that life changes, such as the transitions to middle school, high school or college, can serve as triggers that may contribute to the development of an eating disorder. For this reason, Eating Recovery Center, an international center providing comprehensive treatment for anorexia, bulimia, EDNOS and binge eating disorder, encourages parents of children and adolescents making these life transitions to be vigilant for early signs of eating disorders.

“Children and adolescents who are high-achieving, perfectionists and who have highly sensitive temperaments are generally at a higher risk than other children for developing an eating disorder,” said Julie Holland, MHS, certified eating disorders specialist and chief marketing officer of Eating Recovery Center. “For these individuals, unhealthy coping mechanisms may be utilized to manage the stressors associated with significant life changes.”

A 2012 study from the Journal of Clinical Nursing found that significant transitional events, as well as a lack of support following traumatic life events, could serve as eating disorder triggers. Researchers identified school transitions as one of the six main factors that triggered eating disorders among the individuals who participated in the study.

School transition experiences such as adapting to a new environment, meeting increased academic demands, struggling with social pressures and grappling with the physiological changes that occur during adolescence can create a perfect storm in which an individual with a highly sensitive temperament or a genetic predisposition for an eating disorder may turn to disordered eating behaviors as an anxiety management tool or coping mechanism.

To help parents manage their children’s transitions to new school environments, Eating Recovery Center highlights five back to school tips to help parents promote healthy attitudes about food and body shape and size.

1. Look for discreet warning signs. Although weight loss can be an indicator of disordered eating, it may not be immediately apparent. A child may be displaying signs of an eating disorder if his or her schoolwork and grades begin to suffer, if he or she becomes socially withdrawn and increasingly anxious, tired and lethargic. Parents should also be aware if their child begins wearing roomier or layered clothing, even on warm days.

2. Avoid comments about your child’s body shape or size. When shopping for new school clothes avoid commenting on your child’s weight or body size and instead focus on his or her preferences regarding color, style, etc.

3. Have an honest conversation about peer pressure and the dangers of replacing food calories with alcohol calories if your son or daughter is getting ready to make the move to college. Discuss the physical consequences of disordered eating and drinking behaviors, such as liver damage from excessive alcohol consumption or the significant internal damage poor nutrition can cause.

4. Remind your teenage athlete not to overdo his or her training in an effort to make a high school sports team. Watch for signs of over-exercise, such as sports preparation when he or she is injured or sick, or exercise that significantly interferes with daily activities and schoolwork.

5. Be a positive body role model. When helping an adolescent recover from the body-focused bullying that can sometimes accompany going back to school, a parent who has positive body image will have far more credibility than one who consistently criticizes his or her own looks.

“It is important to remember that what triggers an eating disorder may not be what perpetuates it,” said Holland. “Though school transition pressures may have precipitated an eating disorder, the factors that enable its continuation are often complex. Early intervention and treatment from qualified eating disorders professionals are essential to maximize opportunities for lasting recovery.”

To help parents learn more about helping their children more effectively deal with pressures that could lead to the development of an eating disorder, Eating Recovery Center has launched a free Community Education Series for parents. In the first seminar in this series, “Helping Your Kids Deal Effectively with Back to School Stressors: Opportunities for Parents,” parents will learn about being a healthy role model, communicating effectively and identifying steps to intervene when they are concerned about their child’s eating behaviors. The inaugural seminar is Thursday, September 6, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Eating Recovery Center’s Partial Hospitalization Program for Children and Adolescents, 100 Spruce Street, Suite 200, Denver, Colo. 80230. To RSVP for the event, please contact Emili Coringrato by Tuesday, September 4, at ecoringrato@EatingRecoveryCenter.com or 720.258.4014.

IAPAM’s Botox Training Helps Physicians Add Cash Based Services to Their Practices

Given the continued popularity of Botox ® as the number one non-surgical aesthetic medical treatment, physicians who receive expert certification and Botox ® training, like that offered at the IAPAM’s Aesthetic Medicine Symposium, can capitalize on this ever growing market.

Las Vegas, Nevada, USA – August 28, 2012 — With the Affordable Care Act now through the supreme court, many physicians are looking at adding non-insurance covered procedures to their practices. Minimally invasive procedures, like Botox ®, dermal fillers and laser treatments, have surged by 356% reported the ASAPS and Americans spent more than $10 billion on cosmetic procedures in 2011, according to the ASAPS’s statistics. Patients, ages 35 to 50 had the most procedures last year, nearly four million or 43% of the total, and patients ages 51 to 64 had an additional 28% the ASAPS announced.

Equally, as the demand for Botox ® continues, Botox ® sales have skyrocketed in 2012. Allergan announced that for the full year, 2012, it expects worldwide net sales from the wrinkle treatment Botox ® to climb to between “$1,760 million and $1,800 million.” Given the continued popularity of Botox ® as the number one non-surgical aesthetic medical treatment, physicians who receive expert certification and Botox ® training, like that offered at the IAPAM’s Aesthetic Medicine Symposium, can capitalize on this ever growing market.

The IAPAM Training Difference

Botox ® training is the central component of the IAPAM’s Aesthetic Medicine Symposium (http://iapam.com/aesthetic-medicine-symposium-botox-training) which offers comprehensive instruction on the top 5 minimally invasive procedures:

– Botox ® injection;
– soft tissue fillers;
– chemical peels;
– medical microdermabrasion; and
– laser hair removal.

The key to success in the aesthetic industry is not performing one procedure, but combining treatments to give your patients the results they desire. Moreover, “physicians now see the importance in not having Botox ® training in an unclean hotel room, and are choosing the IAPAM’s aesthetic medicine symposium since its done in a large multi-million dollar aesthetic medical practice which gives them the opportunity to learn proper Botox ® injection technique,” says Jeff Russell, Executive Director of the IAPAM (http://www.iapam.com).

Board-certified dermatologist and IAPAM faculty member, Dr. Jennifer Linder, emphasizes that “any effective training program should provide tips on how to give an effective consultation with each patient. This should include a thorough evaluation of the individual characteristics of the face, a comprehensive discussion with the patient regarding risks and benefits, and most importantly, how to appropriately set and manage realistic patient expectations.” Fellow Symposium instructor, board-certified dermatologist Dr. Toni C. Stockton, trains registrants on the latest technologies and products, from Botox ® to Dysport ®. She also educates physicians on dealing with possible adverse events due to the procedure.

For more information or to REGISTER for the IAPAM’s upcoming Aesthetic Medicine Symposium with Botox ® Training on September 22-23, 2012, please see http://www.iapam.com or contact the IAPAM at 1-800-219-5108 ext. 704.

The bottom line, as stated by Jeff Russell, Executive Director The International Association for Physicians in Aesthetic Medicine’s (IAPAM) is that, “about 5 million nonsurgical cosmetic procedures were performed by aestheticians last year, frequently in a spa setting. Many primary care physicians (PCPs) have decided to meet demand for these services by actively controlling the “med” part of these “medspas”. This is evidenced by the fact that internists, family physicians, and obstetrician/gynecologists dominate the IAPAM’s training classes.”

The IAPAM’s Aesthetic Medicine Symposium with botox ® training is different than any other physician training program offered in North America, because it offers comprehensive aesthetic medicine education and long term support for physicians of all medical specialties. The IAPAM is where the world’s physicians come together to learn and share their experiences in aesthetic medicine.

So many times, physicians attend a weekend botox ® training course in the hopes of learning everything there is to know about opening a medical spa or aesthetic practice. Unfortunately, the reality of the market place is that most of these seminars are often run by laser manufacturers or consulting firms, both of whom are ultimately guiding one to purchase their products and services. Unlike programs offered by a private company, the Aesthetic Medicine Symposium is certified by the IAPAM, a voluntary professional association of physicians and supporters, which sets standards for the aesthetic medical profession.

Attendees at the IAPAM’s Aesthetic Medicine Symposium receive everything they need to start offering minimally invasive modalities to their patients right away. The Symposium provides physicians with:

– dedicated instruction from board-certified dermatologists, who are true experts of the skin and cosmetic injectables.
– hands-on practice in the best injection techniques.
– delivery of the botox ® training at a medical practice, not in a hotel room.
– a set of the IAPAM’s comprehensive training DVDs, which cover:

1. Botulinum Toxin for Cosmetic Patients – lecture.
2. Botulinum Toxin and Dermal Fillers for Cosmetic Patients – live demonstration.
3. Chemical Peel and Microdermabrasion – live demonstration of techniques.

– an environment that does not allow exhibitors, giving physicians more time for education.
– the opportunity to attend the Symposium’s Aesthetic Practice Start-up Workshop, which is the only medical spa program highlighting the latest information on medspa business development and social media marketing.
– the unique opportunity to attend the full-day session on hCG and Medical Weight Management. This session will cover hCG for weight loss, the original Dr. Simeons hCG Protocol, prescription appetite suppressants, ketogenic diet based programs, meal replacement and B6/12 injections.

To register for the upcoming Aesthetic Medicine Symposium on September 22-23, 2012, please contact the IAPAM at 1-800-219-5108 ext. 704 or visit http://iapam.com/aesthetic-medicine-symposium-botox-training

Tom Mower Sr. chooses Whole Child as Sisel International’s cause

Tom Mower Sr. knew that most charities monies raised went to salaries and expenses and few funds actually went to the cause.

Provo, Utah, August 19, 2012 – Tom Mower Sr. chooses Whole Child as Sisel International’s cause.

When Tom Mower Sr. saw Karen Gordon on television he reached out to her and asked about her charity and how he could be more involved. Tom Mower Sr. knew that most charities monies raised went to salaries and expenses and few funds actually went to the cause.

Tom Mower Sr. wanted to know if he made donations that the money would be actually used to help the children in orphanages all over the world. After this conversation Tom Mower Sr. decided to get involved in Whole Child and sits on the board and is one of the largest contributors to the organization.

Whole Child International is a U.S.-based non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in 2004. Whole Child focuses on improving the quality of care for vulnerable children worldwide by working within childcare institutions and orphanages.

Collaborating with state and local governments, Whole Child leverages existing childcare systems to build culturally specific infrastructures that afford children the opportunity to fulfill their developmental potential. Whole Child programs are based on the two biggest contributors of inadequate care: caregiver education and training, and organizational structure. Whole Child programs address the “greater risk of psychopathology as well as poor social-emotional and physical development” of institutionalized children. These programs, developed in conjunction with university scientists and policy analysts, target the cycle of abuse and neglect that stems from poor early childhood care. To elevate the quality of care provided to institutionalized children, Whole Child works with existing childcare institutions and implements caregiver education and training, organizational change, and administrative modification. These changes ensure that the children receive nurturing, loving care, and that their emotional and developmental needs are fulfilled.

Whole Child’s model is based on the theories of Hungarian pediatrician Emmi Pikler (1902–1984), the Program for Infant Toddler Caregivers and from the Reggio Emilia approach to Early Childhood Education. The Pikler Institute, in Budapest, Hungary, was founded in 1946 to care for children orphaned and abandoned during the Second World War. Pikler’s methodology involves increasing opportunities for meaningful attachment and bonding between caregiver and child through “continuity of care.”

Continuity of care ensures that children have one consistent caregiver instead of multiple caregivers over a long period of time. It additionally creates of small groups assigned to a single caregiver to replace larger, more chaotic populations randomly assigned to and often non-continuous staff. Research has found that children with secure attachment relationships with their caregivers are more likely to play, explore, and interact with other adults (Raikes, 1996) [2]. Conversely, more frequent changes in caregivers have been reported to be associated with negative child outcomes including high levels of distress (Cryer et al., 2005) withdrawing behaviors and higher levels of aggression later on (Howes & Hamilton, 1993).
