LondonTown.com: London Zoo’s lemurs get brilliant new home

In With The Lemurs, a new home for the primates, opens next month at London Zoo.

LONDON, March 23, 2015 — /REAL TIME PRESS RELEASE/ — London Zoo is getting a new attraction next month in the shape of a swanky new walk-through home for the zoo’s playful troop of 16 lemurs. In With The Lemurs is a fine new base for the lemurs at the zoo, nestled as it is in the heart of leafy Regent’s Park, kitted out with the best accessories and with a desirable NW1 postcode. The new lemur attraction opens on Saturday 28th March at London Zoo. For more information on the zoo and other attractions in the area, as well as the best deals for a hotel in London, see LondonTown.com.

The lemur pen will be home to 15 ring-tail lemurs and one black and white ruffed lemur. Designed by the zoo’s expert keepers and horticulturalists,  In With The Lemurs will take visitors on a journey through the Madagascan shrub forest where the evolutionarily unique primates will be leaping, climbing and lounging all around them. Renowned sun-worshippers, the lemurs love nothing more than an afternoon spent sunbathing. With this in mind the zoo’s dedicated architects have carefully mapped the path of the sunlight on the new exhibit to ensure their basking platforms are purposefully located to maximise lounging time.

With an uncertain future in the wild, lemurs face a daily struggle to survive due to extensive habitat loss, and over-hunting. In With The Lemurs will give the zoo’s visitors a glimpse of these threats in the exhibit’s replica timber mill, highlighting the devastating effect the industry has on the lemurs’ wild habitat. Ring-tail lemurs are classified as endangered on the IUCN red-list, as are black and white ruffed lemurs, which are also listed on international conservation charity ZSL’s EDGE of Existence programme, due to the threat to their survival and evolutionary distinctiveness. The new attraction will help ensure that London Zoo remains one of Europe’s leading zoos in the way it combines fascinating attractions with sympathetic environments, following recent transformations of the enclosures for lions, tigers and gorillas. LondonTown.com: Digital talk and avant-garde art at the ICA this summer

Two new events announced at the world’s leading multi-discipline avant-garde arts space.

LONDON, March 23, 2015 — /REAL TIME PRESS RELEASE/ — The Institute of Contemporary Arts, better known to Londoners as the ICA and renowned worldwide as one of the great avant-garde galleries, has announced two events that will take place at their Central London premises later this year. Fear of Missing Out: Summit Defining Influences of the Digital Age in 2015 (29th – 31st May 2015) is the title of a special symposium that will explore post-digital anxieties, while Isa Genzken: Basic Research Paintings is the title of an exhibition that will run from 30th June to 6th September in the ICA Upper Galleries. For more about other London events already announced at the ICA in 2015, see LondonTown.com, the website that also allows tourists and visitors to find the latest booking information for cheap London hotels.

Fear of Missing Out will be chaired by Berlin artist and theorist Hito Steyerl, bringing together leading international theorists, academics, social thinkers and artists to discuss post-digital anxieties and the social condition. It will examine the progression and trajectory of technological, economic, ecological and cultural advances by introducing speakers from diverse disciplines to present on topics from Artificial Intelligence to Cyberfeminism. Speakers confirmed include Karen Archey, Erika Balsom, Eleanor Saitta and McKenzie Wark and the summit will also include a screening of work by Harun Farocki. Additional speakers will be announced shortly.
Isa Genzken: Basic Research Paintings will feature the work of one of the most important and influential artists of the last forty years. Since the 1970s, Genzken has developed experimented with a variety of different materials and art forms, to include assemblage and photography, film and video. Her Basic Research paintings feature a frottage technique, similar to that deployed by surrealist artists in search of automatic forms of art production. Having applied a layer of paint to her canvas, she then placed the canvas face-down on her studio floor before rubbing the back with a squeegee. Having peeled the canvas away from the floor, the resulting print shows all the dirt and imperfections of her workspace in near photographic detail. The Basic Research paintings are compelling in that they invite scrutiny. For more information on these London events, plus other events and exhibitions taking place at the ICA, see LondonTown.com.

Author Believes He Has An Answer to the Healthcare Crisis

Releases book, “Physician Leadership: The Rx to Healthcare Transformation”.

Tampa, FL (USA), March 18, 2015 — Healthcare Expert Mo Kasti says his mission in life is to transform the healthcare industry through physician leadership. With the healthcare crisis continuing i.e. higher costs, care fragmentation and physician dissatisfaction, he believes the answer to the healthcare crisis is physician leaders delivering more High Touch than High Tech. That’s why he wrote the book, “Physician Leadership: The Rx to Healthcare Transformation” which hits the shelves March 15, 2015.

Stimulated by the Affordable Care Act, health care organizations are shifting from focusing on volume (fee-for-service) to one that is value-based (better quality at lower cost). For such a shift to be successful, physicians need to lead the efforts to increase efficiency, clinical quality and reduce cost. A recent study found that hospitals with the greatest clinician participation in management scored about 50 percent higher on important drivers of performance. Physicians, however, are typically not formally educated on leadership.

“Organizations that effectively develop their physician leaders have demonstrated better results,” says Kasti, the CEO and founder of The Physician Leadership Institute (PLI), an organization that develops leaders. To get out of the healthcare crisis, physicians need to first see themselves as leaders and not just clinicians, inspire their teams’ hearts as human beings and not as just human doings, lead change strategies, and deliver transformative results”. Kasti has been coaching, teaching, researching and studying “physician leadership” for 25 years.

This book dives into the Kasti’s framework of physician leadership. It also explains the genesis of a leadership vacuum, highlights the symptoms facing physicians and healthcare organizations and provides real-life case studies with proven results.

“This book is an invitation for healthcare administrators to realize the need to engage physicians in leadership,” says Lisa M. Umina, publisher of Halo Publishing International. “It’s also a book that helps physicians understand what it means to lead the future of healthcare.”

Mo Kasti is the CEO and founder of The Physician Leadership Institute (PLI) specializing in empowering physicians to engage and lead the healthcare transformation. Previously, as the Chief Transformation Officer (CTO) and the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for USF Health College of Medicine, he facilitated the integration of the colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, and the USF Physicians Group into USF Health, an entrepreneurial academic model promoting collaboration for better health. Prior to joining USF, Kasti held successful leadership roles at General Electric Healthcare, the #1 market leader in diagnostic equipment and services, and the company synonymous with business leadership.

Sidhartha Pani is the Art Gallery’s New Featured Artist

Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is very pleased to announce that Massachusetts’ Artist Sidhartha Pani is the gallery’s newest featured artist.

Jupiter, FL, USA (March 16, 2015) — Light Space & Time Online Art Gallery is very pleased to announce that Massachusetts’ Artist Sidhartha Pani is the gallery’s newest featured artist. Sidhartha will now be showcased and promoted on the gallery for the next 30 days.

Five years ago, Sidhartha became an empty nester, and art beckoned again when his wife presented him with a course of classes at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Since then, he has been unstoppable. He has painted with a hunger and a passion that defies logic. This has led to more than 120 completed canvases in this time despite a busy practice, and many awards.

His paintings have heavy brush strokes and interesting texture. He plays with texture using the palette knife, the instrument that so captured his soul when he was a teenager. He applies thick coats of paint barely using any thinner. Tension dissipates as he moves from the top to the bottom of the canvas with swift and alternating vertical and horizontal strokes of the knife. He typically complete the main body of a composition by the end of the day. Sidhartha likes to avoid clutter within a painting. He feels his work should be vibrant, yet soothing. It should be the perfect alignment of colors, composition, beauty and poetry that seduces the viewer into yearning for more. Although he did not set out to be an impressionistic artist, as his portfolio has evolved, people have commented on its impressionistic flavor. While not intended, the style is indeed appealing.

Painting has given Sidhartha confidence and a new meaning in life. He has evolved greatly since he re-started painting five years ago. Appreciation at shows and through awards has added to his joy, even while he acknowledges that he is seldom completely satisfied with his paintings. Besides relieving stress and being a unique expression of his inner self and creativity, art has allowed Sidhartha’s soul to take flight.

In the years to come, he hopes to inspire others to re-awaken their dormant passion and talent, pick up the brush or the palette knife, and add joy to their lives and that of others around them. His website is http://www.sidharthapani.com.

Blue Moon Harem Releases “Finland”

Blue Moon Harem Releases “Finland”, the title track off the “Finland” album. The single is promoted via “Stephen’s Indie Picks” originating out of Muscle Shoals, AL.

Muscle Shoals, AL, USA (March 3, 2015) — Who knew what being hit on the nose by a violin teacher could lead to?

As a child, Jonathan Bix was forced to take violin lessons by his well-meaning mother. What made the situation worse is the fact that his teacher would hit him on the nose when he seemed to be losing focus.

Once freed from this tyrannical teacher, Bix began to teach himself guitar and to take inspiration from the likes of early LP gifts of Glenn Campbell and Willie Nelson, later discoveries by John Lennon and The Beatles, and the Steve Miller music his schizophrenic next door neighbor played every night before bed. As a member of Misguided Youth, Bix toured China and Mexico, opened for the likes of Foghat and appeared with Jane Pauley on NBC’s “Today” Show.

Demetri Joannou became interested in the guitar at the age of eight and began to write songs at 19. A prodigious writer and arranger, Joannou worked with many popular artists in town before finding his true match.

Bix and Joannou first met as members of the popular Boston band Requiem in the mid 1990s. Guitarist Joannou was looking for a vocalist to put his musical ideas into motion when his guitar teacher told him about a common friend who was down on his luck and in need of a job and a musical direction. Joannou got Bix hired in his father’s company and began to collaborate with him in the studio. The result was an album that received airplay all over Boston and was featured three times on Harvey Warfield’s famed Boston Music Showcase. ?Working with rhythm players from such legendary Boston bands as Scissorfight and Two Ton Shoe, Bix and Joannou recorded a full-length Requiem CD in 1997 that landed them a spot on the DiscMakers New England Battle of the Bands. Though the album and the band both well received from Charlestown to China, Bix and Joannou soon felt a need to change their sound and go their own way.

Encouraged and engineered by producer Jim Siegle at The Outpost in Stoughton, MA, the duo began to experiment with looping and other instrumental technologies that allowed them to achieve a band sound without having to deal with the pitfalls of supporting a full band, The result was a new album that the pair released under the name Blue Moon Harem.

After years of extensive touring and constant performing, Bix and Joannou decided to slow down and refocus their creative energies. As Bix had been writing songs on the road on his acoustic guitar, they decided to put together an album that was more focused on song craft than technological wizardry yet which still maintained a rich, full sound. The result is “Finland,” a collection of highly personal songs that are supported by the likes of drummer Steve Hart who has previously worked with Aerosmith axeman Joe Perry, among others.

With their simple, honest sound and thoughtful songwriting, Blue Moon Harem is ready to hit the road again, building slowly from coffee house gigs to arena stages. Their ambitions are great, but so is their talent and wealth of experience. Already ,they are a top selection on such popular Internet stations as Jango Radio and Reverb Nation and the fan base continues to build with every song and every set. Flush with new energy and ideas, the band is already working on their third album and look forward to bringing their music to all corners of the heart, mind, and soul.

“Our message is clear,” Joannou says. “We want people to listen to our music and become inspired.” And all without any damage to the nose!
