International Services, Inc. Answers Missionaries’ Prayers with their Website, iVisitorInsurance.com

Glen Allen, VA – International Services, Inc., a leading visitors health insurance agency, acknowledges that missionaries in the US and abroad are facing a lot of uncertainty. The US missionaries abroad fear the impact of ‘Obamacare’ on their policies, and foreign missionaries in the US are concerned with finding the right visitors health insurance to cover them and their families. This is why the company made their website, http://www.ivisitorinsurance.com, available to help them with their options.

“I love doing God’s work, and I know that He is the Provider. We are far from home and concerned that our health insurance isn’t going to cut it when the time comes to make changes. I want to know that my family will be covered in case the worst happens,” says Kristi, missionary.

Many other missionaries share Kristi’s fears as a missionary to South Africa states, “When we were home on sabbatical we made sure to get all of our checkups, shots, and annual exams. We didn’t know if we would be covered for any of that once we got back to Durban.”

“Being a missionary in Germany is hard enough without the fear that comes with not knowing what to expect from our insurance company,” says Eric, a missionary with Word of Life Fellowship.

Missionaries all over the world are dealing with the same thing; the uncertainty of what’s coming. Change is coming and they don’t want the change to hurt their ministries.

Visitors health insurance may be the answer to their fervent prayers. With this type of health insurance you are covered while abroad no matter where you are or how long you plan on staying. Websites like iVisitorInsurance are insurance advocates that offer support, accurate quotes, and information on this type of health insurance and can even point you in the direction of international student health insurance for when your children attend school in a foreign country. Visitors health insurance, also known as visitors medical insurance, covers hospitalization, medicine for illnesses or chronic conditions, surgeries, and each patient is covered for up to $50,000 USD.

Doing the work of God is a calling that not many answer, but when they do they should have the chance at quality medical insurance without the uncertainty, confusion, and runaround offered by many US based insurance companies.

Parents And Educators Finding Ways To Boost Student Math Scores Easily

[Truro, MA] March 2, 2011 – The media has been abuzz with issues in the United States public education system that are deeply affecting children who are need to be prepared for a new global world where hi tech jobs are a big part of the world wide economy. Children who are in classes that are too large for the number of teachers provided and underfunded schools are two of the biggest complaints from parents, but educators are firing back and stating that parents are not taking an active enough role at home in their children’s education. When kids fall behind in math scores the problems are not just with their future job potential, it also affects their ability to manage their finances and understand the complexity of common arrangements such as mortgages or other loans. This is why many are advising parents to get math worksheets in order to help kids, learn right from home, the kind of math skills they need in order to be truly proficient. Parents are reporting that this is an easier way to help their children because such educational aids are giving them more direction than simply going through the typical homework that gets sent home.

Often, early childhood is where kids begin to struggle in math and parents, too, have had this problem so they are not always sure how to help. Teachers suggest that the basics be covered most thoroughly since these building blocks are essential to fully understanding all of the processes involved in math even at higher levels. In some schools, teachers are buying multiplication worksheets to send home with students where families just can not afford to invest much in their kids’ education. Solutions abound and this approach is proving to have positive results in giving kids a constructive activity that is actually building their own skill level at the same time. By doing the problems over and over, kids are more easily able to conquer their own fears about math and parents can easily help guide them through the process due to the easy instructions and examples provided. This is helping more parents take an active role in helping their child to master math even if they themselves still battle math related fears.

Those who want to learn more about these educational tools can visit http://www.mathworksheetscenter.com where they can learn about the options in these math aids to help children succeed.

CHICAGO, IL – March 2, 2011 – Chicagoland Sunbelt (www.chicagolandsunbelt.com) announces today that Donn Raabe completed the sale of a franchise tutoring business in the northwestern suburbs of Chicago.  The business was a turn-key operation, complete with everything a buyer needed to ‘hit the ground running’. Thirty-nine people inquired and 11 prospective buyers were shown the business. Two offers were made and the winning offer closed on the sale of the business in less than a month. As a result of this success, another franchise selected Raabe to represent them in the sale of their successful franchise.

The business has great recognition amongst the consuming public. Catering to students from kindergarten to seniors in high school, the business offers tutoring programs in several subjects including: reading, math, writing, study skills, phonics, vocabulary, SAT & ACT exam preparation, high school entrance exam preparation. The franchisor supports franchisees via manuals, business templates, and software to run the business, curriculum, and marketing materials. The buyer will be in business for themselves, but not by themselves, and will be affiliated with one of the most successful franchise concepts in the past 25 years. This particular location has a nearly 20 year history of success that attracted the seller to the business.

Educational spending has been on a record growth curve for nearly the past two decades. Today, the supplemental educational market is approaching $10 billion dollars annually just by itself, and continues to see double-digit growth nearly every year.

“People looking to buy a business are very interested in tutoring,” stated Raabe, “They see it as a very steady, secure business to buy and are attracted to a business that they feel really helps children and helps the community as a whole. The challenges in this deal – and believe me there were challenges – seemed to recede when we re-focused on what value the business has for the community.”

“We see every day, buyers who are tired of a paycheck looking to buy a business in order to make a difference,” said Domenic Rinaldi, Managing Director of Chicagoland Sunbelt. “We get over 200 inquries from buyers every month looking to buy a business. If you have a business to sell, now is a great time to be on the market. We are seeing sellers getting great deals now.”

The buyer had a background in education and was excited to own his own business.

Raabe’s new listing is of one of the Chicagoland area’s most successful franchises. It is consistently rated in the top third in sales in the Chicagoland area. “Given the strong interest in the last transaction,” commented Raabe, “I expect that we will see a very good group of qualified buyers competing for this business.”

Teenager Summer Abroad: Continues To Grow In Popularity

[Philadelphia, PA] – March 5, 2011 – Many teens today are looking for ways to be able to ramp up their efforts to get into good schools by getting the kind of life experience that will help them exceed the expectations for people their age. Towards this end, a number of students are looking to experience a Teenager Summer Abroad where they will be able to maximize their time out of school and do something positive at the same time. By staying with host families and attending classes in extremely popular places like Alajuela, Costa Rica or Marbella, Spain, teens are able to experience life in a different culture and spend time with other teens while learning to speak Spanish in a much more fluent fashion than their peers who have only taken courses in an English speaking high school. With second languages being such a big priority among educators today, this advanced way to learn Spanish is proving popular with many high school students. In addition to their time spent learning in a classroom setting, teens will also be able to visit a number of local attractions where they can experience more of what the country of their choosing has to offer.

AmeriSpan is one company that offers these types of experiences, helping teens discover life in other parts of the world in a safe and more affordable way. Speaking about their Costa Rica and Spain Teenager Study Abroad programs, AmeriSpan co-founder John Slocum was recently quoted as saying, “In spite of the economy and the news emenating from the Middle East, we are receiving more applications from High schoolers planning to go abroad this summer. The most popular destinations are Spain and Costa Rica.” Indeed, many experts agree that recent events only highlight the need for more transcultural experiences among today’s youth as our world continues to evolve into a more global economy where one nation’s concerns rapidly become another’s. Teens experienced in other cultures are said to be better able to understand the events they hear about in the media, as well.

Those who would like to learn more about AmeriSpan’s Spain Costa Rica Teenager Study Abroad offerings should visit the company’s website to learn more at www.AmeriSpan.com or call 800-879-6640 if in the US and Canada or in other nations, 215-751-1100. April College Scholarship Deadlines Are Quickly Approaching

Getting into college is a very involved process and sometimes the most component is ignored. This is taking note of the deadlines for various scholarship forms. It is imperative to stay organized, keep a list of these and then be sure to abide by the dates listed. According to Dee Cohen, licensed social worker and owner of Socialworkprograms.org , “I have had many counseling sessions with students who expressed extreme frustration that they submitted their admission applications on time but missed out on some important scholarship deadlines that were good fits for their accomplishments. “

There are numerous scholarship programs that the government, corporations and private institutions award. Each one has a different requirement for gpa minimum, ending date of application process and other criteria. For those unsure of what to study, there are numerous Social Work Programs that qualify a graduate for a variety of positions. The April scholarship deadlines are approaching and here are some to be keep track of closely.

The Morgan Stanley scholarship program is for American students who wish to study in a Japanese university. It grants two scholarships worth $7,500 each. Juniors and senior students who are interested in taking up economics and international finance are the ones eligible for this scholarship. The applications for this scholarship are collected and screened by the US-Japan Bridging Foundation and the Association of Teachers of Japanese. The application deadline is on the 8th of April. An applicant has to submit an application form to the Bridging Project Clearinghouse in the University of Colorado.

For those with an interest in health, the Healthy Lifestyles Scholarship should be considered if you are under twenty five, will be an incoming freshman or are in your first year of college now. There will be two different essays required. One covers the question of why a healthy lifestyle is important in school. The other asks one to describe their career plans, goals and personal ambitions. The award is five thousand dollars.

Another program with an April Scholarship Deadline is the Ronald C. Harrell Scholarship for engineering students. This is founded in 1918 by the North Carolina Society of Engineers. It grants North Carolina lucky students two thousand dollars each. The deadline for submission of application is on the 23rd of April.

Other scholarships due in April include the Seabee Memorial Scholarship for military programs on April 15th, Oregon Medical Education Foundation Scholarship due by April 1st and the National Association of Black Journalists Scholarships which has a deadline of April 4th 2011.

These scholarship programs are just some of the numerous ones available. When you visit Ms. Cohen’s blog, you’ll also find out more about male nursing scholarships as well as how to apply for left handed scholarships and scholarships for minority women. Cohen advises one to think out their interests, family tree and associations in order to broaden the search to find additional funding to further one’s education. At http://www.SocialWorkPrograms.org many resources are listed for available scholarships and educational programs.

Flat Classroom Project at YCIS Beijing

(Beijing) — Once a week, Coco Yu walks into her Year 4 classroom at Yew Chung International School of Beijing (YCIS Beijing), logs onto a computer and starts communicating with other children her age who are located in schools stretching from England to India.

Yu is one of dozens of students at YCIS Beijing who are participating in a global collaborative project that joins together primary students from around the world via the Internet and Web 2.0 technologies, including Wikispaces and Ning, an online service that allows members to create social networks.

The project is called Flat Classroom. It is part of an emerging trend in internationally aware schools, like YCIS Beijing, that embrace a holistic and full-rounded educational approach to work collaboratively with others around the world in order to create students who are competitive and globally-minded. One of the main goals of the project is to “flatten” or lower the classroom walls so that two or more classes are joined virtually to become one large classroom.

“In Flat Classroom, we work a lot with computers and we go to Wiki, and we type what we do in Beijing. Maybe we Skype, and we talk to other children around the world, for example, we have a school in Mumbai, a school in England and Mill Creek and the US,” Yu, who is 9years old, said.

YCIS Beijing teachers who take part in the program say they can immediately see the perceptions of their students about the world and their place in it change as a result of participation in the project, which incorporates themes and lesson plans from “The World is Flat,” a ground-breaking book authored by the New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman. Students also work collaboratively on projects with their peers located in different schools around the world. On February 21st at 8am, students used Skype to video chat with the primary students and parents at a US primary school who were attending their back-to-school night. It was an exciting link for both primary classes involved who exclaimed cheers when the video connection occurred, followed by a question and answer period that bounced back-and-forth between times zones.

“Of course, students have discovered similarities between themselves and other students located at the other participating schools,” said Primary Year 4 teacher, Heather Davis.

“They also note the differences as well. It is through these similarities and differences that our students have expressed the most learning. They find it fascinating that the same hobbies, food or entertainment enjoyed by them is enjoyed by other students as well. Conversely, they are intrigued by the holidays and traditions of different countries and are surprised when preconceived notions they had about other countries are challenged and clarified with reality.”

The Flat Classroom Project is incorporated mostly during IT time at YCIS Beijing but also crosses over into other subject areas, including English, math, history and Chinese. Students, for example, learn how to correspond in English with their counterparts in different countries or study the history of the countries in which their peers are living.

From February 25 – 27, a special Flat Classroom Conference will be held in Beijing. It will include students and educators discussing the future of education through the integration of technologies, including wikis, blogs, social networking and multi-media storytelling, into learning environments.

About Flat Classroom
The Flat Classroom Project is a global collaborative project that joins together middle and senior high school students. The project was co-founded by Vicki Davis (Westwood Schools, USA) and Julie Lindsay (Beijing (BISS) International School, China) in 2006. The Flat Classroom Project 2006 is was featured in Chapter 13, ‘If it’s not happening it’s because you’re not doing it’, of the latest edition of Thomas Friedman’s book, The World is Flat’ upon which it was based. One of the main goals of the project is to ‘flatten’ or lower the classroom walls so that instead of each class working isolated and alone, 2 or more classes are joined virtually to become one large classroom. This is done through the Internet using Web 2.0 tools such as Wikispaces and Ning.

Additional sister projects to the Flat Classroom Project include the Horizon Project, and it’s replacement since 2009 the Net Generation Education Project, created in conjunction with Don Tapscott and ‘Grown Up Digital’, based on the Horizon Report released annually by New Media Consortium and Educause; the Digiteen Project with the aim of promoting better online citizenship through research and discussion culminating in each school taking action within their own community to promote this; and Eracism, a global student debate that includes a virtual world component.
