SmartTOP Convertible Top Controllers for Porsche Carrera Convertible and Porsche Boxster Gain Added Functionality

Mods4cars has now added two new features to the Porsche Carrera 991 and Boxster 981 modules: If desired, the module can mute the radio when the ignition is first turned on. “Unfortunately the last used volume setting is not preserved on these systems. The radio always turns on at a factory pre-set volume when turning the ignition on, even if it was turned off or muted before.” says PR manager Sven Tornow. “This function is intended for those among our customers who would like to start driving without the radio playing.” Sven Tornow concludes.

Additionally the user configurable settings can now be programmed in cars equipped with the multifunction steering wheel. It is now possible to change settings in the car by using key combinations or by using a laptop connected to the module’s USB port. The USB port also allows customers to update the module firmware using a Mac or Windows laptop or desktop computer. Firmware updates are available online and free of charge for the life of the product. Existing customer always get to enjoy new functionality and updates as well.

The Porsche modules offer the following bonus features: Opening and closing of the windows independently from the top, an extended mode where top operation is not interrupted by turning the ignition on or off. A “valet” switch that turns the entire module off temporarily while retaining all user settings. The kit comes with a custom designed wiring adapter and can be installed or removed easily.

The Carrera 991 wind deflector gains one-touch operation and can be programmed to automatically raise up after the top is opened.

SmartTOP for Mercedes-Benz SLK Now Allows Use of the Rear Windows with Top Down

Automotive electronics specialist Mods4cars added a long awaited feature to the SmartTOP add-on convertible top controller for Mercedes-Benz SLK R171. With the top fully open it is now possible to raise the small rear windows. The SLK R171 gains an even more elegant silhouette. Up until now it was only possible to raise the two front windows with the convertible top down.

Las Vegas, NV (USA), July 15th, 2013 — Recently Mods4cars announced the availability of a firmware update allowing use of the rear windows on Mercedes SLK R172 with the top down. Now the same function is available on the SLK R171 as well. The Vegas based outfit Mods4cars offers aftermarket electronic modules called SmartTOP which extend the functionality of the cars’ convertible top operation. The signature feature of the modules is the ability to raise and lower the top while driving at slow speeds and with one-touch convenience. They also allow top operation from the original key fob remote and each one comes with an individual set of user configurable bonus features adding to every day convenience.

“We continually work on improving our existing products and are always taking our customers‘ wishes and input into consideration.“ says PR-Manager Sven Tornow. “Raising the rear windows with the top down was one of the most requested features; it creates a more elegant appearance and improves wind protection.” Sven Tornow continues.

By factory default the two small rear windows are permanently in the down position as long as the convertible top is open. The new SmartTOP feature now allows them to be raised and was completely integrated into the existing module as a firmware update. Now car owners can decide if they want all four windows to come up after opening the top or if they want them to stay down.

When using the key remote top open the top, the user configurable setting also applies. Choose if all windows come up or stay down. The setting can be programmed independently from the front windows, so it is possible to leave all windows down, raise only the front ones or raise all.

Mods4cars publishes at least 50 firmware updates every year, all of which are not just for new customers to enjoy. All SmartTOP modules come equipped with a standard USB port for quick and easy end user product configuration and update. Firmware updates are free of charge. “Once you purchased a SmartTOP module, you will be eligible to receive firmware updates for the entire life of the product.” Sven Tornow concludes.

Warranty on Trucks and Trolleys Extended to 10 years by The Workplace Depot

The Workplace Depot is delighted to announce that their range of Fetra trucks and trolleys will now be under warranty for 10 years; previously the warranty was for five years.

Many workplaces rely heavily on trucks and trolleys to move goods around and they can take a heavy pounding from regular, hefty usage. So it may come as a surprise that a company could guarantee the reliability of such an item for an extended period.

Ken Miller, Director of the Workplace Depot explained, “The reason we can give a 10 year warranty is because the equipment is now manufactured at highly efficient production facilities using some of the most advanced precision machinery. The Fetra range of trucks and trolleys are also powder-coated and undergo vigorous shot blasting pre-treatment.”

The new manufacturing process extends the product life as well as keeping the finish in tip-top condition for much longer.

This type of transport equipment has notoriously high levels of wear and tear, so lower quality equipment may only last a few years and therefore need to be replaced. USB Update Application for SmartTOP Modules Now Available in the Mac App Store

The Mac version of the “m4cconnect” software application offered for that purpose is now available in the official Apple Mac App Store.

Amongst other features it allows use of the top while driving at slow speeds (up to 60km/h / 38mph on some models) as well as one-touch and remote operation. SmartTOP Convertible Top Controller for BMW 3-Series E46 Now With More Features

The new adapter guarantees an even simpler installation and a tighter, more secure connection of the product to the vehicle electronics.

Las Vegas, NV (USA), May 14, 2013 — The SmartTOP convertible top controller for Volkswagen EOS offered by Mods4cars is a retrofit kit which allows one-touch opening and closing of the roof while the car is in motion and remote operation initiated by the original factory remote fob. In order to enjoy the time saving benefits of the product, the module kit is installed in the car using a new, professionally made and custom designed plug-in-between wiring harness.
