Full automatic one-touch operation is also possible from a distance by using the original key fob remote. Not having to hold down any buttons means convenience and saving time. The SmartTOP customer may even get in the car and start driving while the top still operates. No changes are necessary to the key fobs or the receiver system.

SmartTOP modules all come with additional bonus features. A few examples are one-touch operation for the windows from the console switch, automatic mirror folding and unfolding on the BMW 1 Series and options to unlock the doors when turning the ignition off. An extended mode can be activated that allows a top operation to continue even when the engine is being started or stopped. Las Vegas, NV (USA), May 26th, 2014 — Aftermarket automotive electronics specialist Mods4cars revamped the design of the SmartTOP Convertible Top Controller modules. Just in time for the upcoming convertible season 2014 the SmartTOP module for Volkswagen EOS received the facelift product enclosure. The enclosure was exclusively and custom designed by Mods4cars for this product.

“The new design is not just an improvement in esthetics. It also makes installation much easier for our customers” says PR-Manager Sven Tornow. The new enclosure houses two LEDs that show current status, correct connections or trouble codes during installation. “Additionally the new SmartTOP enclosure is 30% smaller in volume and slimmer. Therefore it can be installed a lot easier in tight spaces.” Sven Tornow continues.

“We are happy to announce that we were able to make installation of our SmartTOP aftermarket kit for the VW EOS easier yet again.” Sven Tornow concludes. A while back the outfit introduced a plug-and-play wiring adapter. This adapter was also custom designed and allows installing the module by simply connecting a few plugs with the car electronics. It uses perfect fit connectors with secure latches to ensure a tight fit while preventing any kind of wrong connection.

The SmartTOP Convertible Top Control module for Volkswagen EOS allows owners to open and close the top while driving at slow speeds (user programmable up to 44 km/h / 28mph) using convenient one-touch operation. It is no longer necessary to pull over and hold down the top switch. SmartTOP customers get both hands back on the steering wheel a lot faster.

Additionally it is possible to control the top from a distance by just using the supplied factory remote fobs. Walking toward their EOS, customers can already start opening the top and drive off with the top down. Sudden rainfall is no longer a reason to run to the car, instead the top can be conveniently closed from a distance.

Along with these two main features there is a host of bonus features present in the module, all of which are user programmable. It is possible to separately control the windows from the remote, activate a quick chirp signal when locking or unlocking the car and the hazard blinkers can be activated during remote operation.

The direction of the top switch can be reversed and it is possible to override the trailer lockout and use the top with attached trailer. A park assist feature lowers the passenger mirror when in reverse and starting or stopping the engine will not stop an ongoing top operation when in extended mode. The entire module can also be temporarily disabled while retaining all user settings.

All features can be configured and the product can be updated via USB connection and PC/Mac computer software available free of charge online. Updates for the product firmware are also free of charge for the life of the product.

The SmartTOP Convertible Top modules allow drivers to open and close the top while driving at slow speeds and with one-touch convenience. It is no longer necessary to pull over and hold down the switch for the duration of the operation. The top may be used up to a user programmable speed of 40km/h (~28mph). Thanks to the one-touch feature it is not necessary to keep holding the switch down. A quick tap is enough to start full automatic top operation.

Additionally the top can be operated from the original factory remote key fob. This allows owners to lower the top while still approaching the car. The top can also be closed fully automatically while walking away or from afar at the first sign of impending rainfall. No changes are necessary to the original keys or receiver system.

The SmartTOP module for Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder also offers a host of bonus features. A highlight is the ability to reverse the direction of the center console switch. Instead of pulling to lower and pushing to raise the top, the direction can be reversed to work in a much more intuitive way, if desired.

More features are available, all of which can be user configured according to taste. The windows can be activated by remote independently from the top, a chirp feature gives off brief horn signals upon locking or unlocking the car, hazard blinkers can be activated during remote top operation. An extended mode allows owners to even start or stop the engine while the top continues full automatic operation. It is also possible to temporarily disable the entire module while retaining all other settings.

Every SmartTOP module can be configured and updated via the integrated USB port and available support software for PC and Mac. Software and product firmware updates are available online, free of charge.

The sleek new shape was custom designed for Mods4cars and gives the module not only a more streamlined appearance but adds convenience when installing the product. The SmartTOP module allows drivers to open and close the convertible top while driving and with one-touch operation.

Las Vegas, NV (USA), February 21st, 2014 — The SmartTOP Convertible Top add-on module designed by aftermarket automotive electronics specialist Mods4cars for the Mazda MX-5 is a kit that can be installed by anyone. It allows drivers to operate the top while driving at speeds of up to 60 km/h (~38mph) with added convenience. A quick tap on the console button is sufficient.

“Every convertible driver knows the scenarios: Sunshine turns into cloudy skies followed by a sudden rainfall. Now all that matters is being able to stop quickly to close the top. Or hoping that a red light won’t change while the top is still closing.” says PR-Manager Sven Tornow. With the SmartTOP module the top can be used even while driving at slow speeds, so the top-down experience comes with more peace of mind.

The MX-5 compatible module can be used in three ways. 1. After unlatching the mechanical lock the top can be lowered by holding down the appropriate switch on the dash and raised the same way. 2. One-Touch operation. Same as before but the top opens or closes fully automatically after just a quick touch. 3. Auto Feature: When this setting is activated, the top will fully automatically lower itself right after the latch is disengaged and without the need to press the top down button at all. Closing is done the same way as in 2. All three options allow use of the top while the car is moving and without the need to shift into neutral or park gear.

Mods4cars has improved the design of the SmartTOP product itself and effective immediately all modules for the Mazda MX-5 come in the new, slimmer and more streamlined enclosure. The new shape was custom designed to fit the components perfectly and to encapsulate the product fully. All LEDs and connectors, including the USB port, are now enclosed in order to be optimally protected.

The new enclosure is also smaller than before and thus allows the product to be installed in tighter spots. It is more eco-friendly by no longer requiring screws and by using less plastic. Additionally two LEDs were fully integrated that aid during installation. They show current status, trouble codes and signal a correct installation of the module.

In order to make installation as simple as possible, a custom designed Plug-and-Play wiring harness is part of the kit. It uses genuine OEM connectors for a perfect and secure fit. No wires need to be spliced or cut. It simply connects in between two connectors and the SmartTOP module. It is possible to remove the kit without leaving any traces.

The SmartTOP module can be programmed according to individual needs. It is possible to configure the maximum speed allowed for top operation as well as other settings.
