Dakota Dental Releases List of Teeth-Damaging Foods to Avoid this Holiday Season

Make sure to take care of your teeth this holiday season with by following Dakota Dental’s recommendations on foods to avoid.

Apple Valley, MN, USA — The holiday season is the time to get together with family and friends, and usually revolves around sharing a meal, meeting up for coffee, or gathering at a holiday party. While it’s a great time of year, it can be a tough season on your teeth. While some sugary treats are well-known culprits, Dakota Dental shares some lesser-known foods that can damage teeth – so when visiting family and friends this holiday season, be sure to avoid or limit these damaging foods.

On the snack trays:
– Apples. Even though apples are a nutritious snack, they are high in acid, which eats away at enamel.
– Pickles. Since the brine is made with vinegar, and oftentimes sugar too, pickles and other pickled vegetables can cause damage to the enamel.

At the dinner table:
– Bread buns, especially white bread. Processed breads have sugar, and can also get stuck in your teeth – keeping all that sugar in your mouth even longer.
– Salad dressings. Many salad dressings contain both acid and sugar, which can break down enamel.

Snacking with friends:
– Diet sodas. Even though diet sodas don’t have sugar, they are extremely high in acid, making this one of the worst products for your teeth.
– Popcorn. Popcorn is notorious for getting stuck between teeth, and trapping and cultivating bacteria because of it. Make sure to have floss handy!
– Hard candies. Yes, they have sugar, but hard candies are especially troublesome because they stay in the mouth longer than other foods.

What makes these foods so tough on your teeth? The two main culprits that attack teeth are sugar and acid. Sugar feeds the bacteria in our mouths, and bacteria produces lactic acid, which erodes teeth enamel. And acidic foods and drinks break down enamel directly.

For healthy teeth and a perfect smile, limit the damage these foods make. The Apple Valley dentists at Dakota Dental can not only help with general dental services during your regular checkups, but they can also talk about more tips and tricks for taking care of your teeth. Dakota Dental is happy to help their patients on all of your dental health issues. Contact Dakota Dental today.

Connecting Seniors to the Smartphone Conversation

Michael Schmitt uncovered an educational need for seniors while working for a major telecom company. Combining his current knowledge and teaching expertise, he created Learn4Fun4Ever.

St. Augustine, FL, USA — Fun, personalized Apple & Android technology lessons for seniors comes to the Jax Beaches.

Local entrepreneur Michael Schmitt uncovered an educational need while working for a major telecom company. Technology was advancing too quickly for some of his clients to keep up with. Frustrated by the way they were losing touch with loved ones, particularly grandparents with their grandchildren, they sought Michael’s help to learn how to use their Apple and Android phones.

Michael began helping his clients with everything from basic operations (how to text, make calls, email, etc.) to customized solutions for interests and/or special needs. Throughout this process, he tapped into his true passion: teaching. Prior to working in technology, he ran a business in Italy dedicated to teaching scientific and business English. Combining his current knowledge and teaching expertise, he took his services to the next level with the creation of his latest business, Learn4Fun4Ever.

“Today’s world relies on communication via the smartphone, email, text message and social media. ‘Smart devices’ connect people to ‘Their World’ in every imaginable way. In contrary, the unfortunate result is that many of our seniors are being marginalized by this technology… We, as a society, have an obligation to ensure they are included,” says Michael Schmitt, Learn4Fun4Ever founder and CEO.

Taking the unique teaching skills Michael gained from his foreign language education business, he created a revolutionary way to break down complex technology into user-friendly instruction for the novice smartphone and tablet user. Learn4Fun4Ever currently offers one-on-one personalized service by the hour or in packages of lessons. Seminars for group communities, senior centers, and by request are also available. Learn4Fun4Ever exclusively serves Ponte Vedra Beach, Jacksonville Beach, Nocatee and St. Augustine, Florida.

ALIPAC Opposes Immigration and Refugee Increase in Spending Bill

Raleigh, NC, USA (December 17, 2015) — Contact: William Gheen | (866) 703-0864 | WilliamG@alipac.us

Americans for Less/Legal Immigration PAC is activating its networks, which have helped defeat amnesty legislation six times in DC, to call against the omnibus spending package because the bill contains funding for unlimited Muslim refugee resettlement programs, funding for Obama’s DACA and DAPA illegal immigrant amnesty orders, and a sneaky provision that will quadruple unskilled labor visas that would displace more American blue collar workers!

ALIPAC is also asking activists to contact the campaigns of Donald Trump and Ted Cruz to ask them to call for GOP Primary challengers for any Republican that votes for this horrible spending bill since many lawmakers currently being targeted for supporting amnesty on ALIPAC’s Cantor List (click to view) are expected to vote for the bill.

“The DC establishment wants a vote on this horrible spending bill right on top of Christmas when they expect citizens to be less alert and reactive to their treachery! The fact this bill contains funding for all of Obama’s ‘immigration as a weapon’ plans including a four fold increase in unskilled immigration shows that DC lawmakers have great contempt for the very Americans they serve,” said William Gheen, President of ALIPAC. “The GOP lawmakers planning to vote for this bill should remember that the filing period for federal office is currently open in many states and the GOP primary voters who support candidates like Donald Trump and Ted Cruz will be primed to throw out any lawmaker that votes to fund Obama’s amnesty orders and Syrian refugee resettlement!”

ALIPAC opposed Paul Ryan’s ascension to Speaker of the House due to his well documented support for amnesty for illegal aliens. This spending bill shows that Ryan is willing to achieve amnesty for illegals by backing and protecting Obama’s version of amnesty. ALIPAC has also opposed Muslim refugee resettlement programs because such immigrants cannot be properly vetted to exclude terrorists.

American activists are encouraged to flood DC offices with angry calls opposing the Omnibus Spending bill, while talk radio shows and media still loyal to the American public and Constitution are being asked to relay this warning about the bill to larger audiences.

For more information or to schedule interviews about the omnibus spending bill, legal immigration, illegal immigration, and refugee resettlement programs that harm American citizens, please visit http://www.ALIPAC.us.

Children’s Christmas Carnival at The Collection, UB City on 20th December 2015

Performance by the Abhayam Band, Stalls, Dance Workshops, Meet & Greet with Santa and much, much more.

Bangalore, India, December 17th, 2015 — With Christmas around the corner, the season’s festivities are in full swing. As everyone gets caught up in the excitement that the close of the year always brings, Sublime Galleria located on the 8th Floor of UB City is gearing up to bring some merriment into the lives of underprivileged children and they have chosen a very special way to do this. Through the Children’s Christmas Carnival, they are encouraging other children to come forward and help their underprivileged counterparts. Scheduled for Sunday, 20th December, 2015 between 4-7pm, the event will host a bunch of activities and donate the proceeds to an NGO – Abhayam.

The event promises to be an extremely entertaining one for kids as Sublime Galleria, is giving them a chance to take on the role of young entrepreneurs. Stalls are being provided at the Piazza where children can sell baked products, handmade jewellery and other handicrafts that they have made themselves. A percentage of the proceeds from these sales will be given to Abhayam. In a heart-warming display of their enthusiasm towards this cause, several children have already reserved stalls for the event.

Children can register for the stalls by contacting the following no: +91 70228 92634

And this is just the beginning. The 5-hour long event will also include dance workshops, face painting, a caricature stall and an opportunity to meet and greet Santa Claus. The highlight of the event is performances by the distinctive Abhayam Band. The Children’s band by Abhayam will sing popular and well-loved Christmas Carols for the audience and this will be followed by a foot-tapping performance by the main Abhayam Band. Two more interesting additions to these performances are a Beat Boxing Solo as well as a performance by a 70-year old retired Colonel who will play Christmas Carols on his Accordion and the Carpenter’s Saw.

Abhayam has a very interesting history. It is an NGO that works with substance abusers and alcoholics. Music being an important part of the healing process for over 200 of their patients resulted, 4 years ago, in the formation of the band. The band has gained in popularity over the last few years, and now every Christmas Season they travel to different locations in Bangalore and outside to perform in concerts and shows.
