Bryant & Stratton College Graduates 2,984 Students in 160th Anniversary Year

Bryant & Stratton College announced a college-wide annual graduation total of 2,984 students for the period July 1, 2013, through June 30, 2014, as it celebrates its 160th anniversary of providing career-focused education.

Buffalo, NY, August 22, 2014 — Bryant & Stratton College announced a college-wide annual graduation total of 2,984 students for the period July 1, 2013, through June 30, 2014, as it celebrates its 160th anniversary of providing career-focused education. Bryant & Stratton College has graduated more than 28,000 students since 2000, reflecting the strength of its academic programs and the motivation of its students.

“Our students come from many different backgrounds, but they all share a desire to succeed,” said Cindy Susienka, President and CEO of Bryant & Stratton College. “Earning a college degree is one of the most important ways that individuals can prepare themselves for success in their careers and in their lives.”

“As they enter the workforce, these graduates have a significant, positive impact on the local economy,” added Susienka. “The investment in their education is also an investment in the future of their communities. I’d like to congratulate each of our graduates for their achievement and their commitment.”

Today, demand for post-secondary education in jobs has never been higher. It is estimated that by 2025 there will be a gap of more than 20 million unfilled jobs due to the lack of post-secondary degrees.

To meet the demand, Bryant & Stratton College is developing innovative approaches to education that will foster greater student satisfaction and ensure that students have the skills to be successful in a technologically savvy workplace. This includes academic programs in which traditional classroom time is being supplemented with online learning activities.

“The purpose of integrating digital learning into the classroom is to better meet the needs of individual students and offer more personalized instruction,” said Susienka. “The traditional ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach to education is no longer valid in today’s dynamic market. We are planning to introduce new technology that helps students learn at their own pace by adapting to the student’s knowledge level and tailoring future lessons to match the student’s progress.”

Susienka said that blending online learning with classroom study takes advantage of the best features of both by reinforcing, complementing, and elaborating on one another. “A blended approach to education enables students to participate fully in the learning process on campus as well as remotely. They are able to learn and study in a fashion that is consistent with today’s workplace,” she added.

Innovation has been the key to the 160-year longevity of Bryant & Stratton College. “The founders of Bryant & Stratton College developed an educational approach that was unique for its time,” said Susienka. “When Bryant & Stratton National Business College was founded in 1854, most people entering the business world had to rely on scarce apprenticeships. The idea of teaching business skills in classrooms and business labs was an innovation that helped build the foundation of American business.

“For 160 years, the primary focus of the College has been to help students develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities that employers want so our graduates can enter the workforce with the competitive advantage of proven performance in their field,” added Susienka. “Although our teaching methods have changed over time, that basic philosophy has not.”

New York City Based Urban-Flamenco Guitarist Eric Kamen Sets Fourth CD Release, Serenades for September 2 Release Date

New Instrumental Release Features Single and Video for Opening Track “The Lost Tribe”

‘While I never in a million years intended this to be a political statement, one can’t help notice that music from around the World, from the US, from Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Africa can all work together so well that it cannot be overlooked! In the end, we are all the same!’

Los Angeles, CA, August 22, 2014 – Raw, natural talent with complete originality is what you can hear from the very first pluck of Eric Kamen’s signature modern take on traditional flamenco music.

A former New York City wall street executive, Kamen moonlighted as a hip-hop producer and became a multi-instrumentalist at a young age influenced by world music – this led to him creating and collaborating on unique projects with emerging rappers. His new-found fusion of flamenco guitar blended with hip-hop beats was electric and sparked interest in a mass following on Myspace when Kamen first uploaded his experimental side project and debut release, Native Unit.

Though world music and his European travels were a big impact on his signature Urban Flamenco style, Kamen’s teenage years spent in New York City idolizing rock and pop bands of the 1970’s built his repertoire from the musical melting of the city playing shows at the famous Café Wha in Greenwich Village.

With his latest release, Serenades is a current sound that is the perfect amount of dramatic beats and gypsy flamenco guitar that will leave you dancing and feeling good about the music. An eclectic set of fifteen songs, Serenades is the fitting soundtrack to a relaxing night, transferring listeners to a serene Spanish village. Featuring lead single “The Lost Tribe,” and stand-out tracks “A Rose From Russia” and “Red Moon.”

Serenades will be available for purchase on iTunes and Amazon and all major digital outlets on September 2.

Therapist Andrew Walen’s New Book is a Lifeline for Men with Eating Disorders

Man Up to Eating Disorders Shares Author’s Experience to Help Others Struggling with Body Issues

Columbia, MD, August 21, 2014 — Starting early in his childhood, psychotherapist Andrew Walen, LCSW-C, struggled with body image. The first sentence of his recently released new book, Man Up to Eating Disorders, available on Amazon in both paperback and e-book format, captures the shame he felt about his weight and appearance in a few powerful words: “Ever since I was a kid, I’ve struggled with thinking I am ugly and fat.” That shame led Walen to develop serious eating and body image disorders that lasted well into adulthood.

Walen, who founded The Body Image Therapy Center in Columbia, Maryland and practices psychotherapy there, wrote the memoir and self-help book to help other men and boys struggling with eating, exercise and body image disorders understand that they are not alone and that, with support, there is a way to overcome these issues. In the book, he shares his experiences with anorexia, binge eating, exercise bulimia, the underlying origins of these issues in his life and his process of recovery and self-acceptance.

“This book is to help guys come together, create their own tribe, talk recovery in their own language,” explains Walen. “Straight, gay, black, white, Asian, Hispanic, whatever your background – if it’s anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, compulsive exercise, steroid abuse or some combination of any or all of the above; we are all part of the same brotherhood. We are all dealing with the same core issues of belonging, perfectionism, control, identity, independence, and insecurity. The book is for all men looking for some way to break the shame cycle of their disorder and find real connection to themselves and their loved ones.”

In his practice, Walen specializes in working with men with eating disorders, substance abuse, body image issues, anxiety and depression. He has appeared on the Today Show and Baltimore/DC area TV and radio stations, as well as in the New York Times as an expert in the field of eating disorders. In addition, he is the author of numerous articles and leader of workshops on eating disorders, body image disturbance, exercise addiction, and binge eating disorder.

The Monterey Symphony announced today that single tickets are now on sale! Season subscriptions are still available, including four-concert mini-subscriptions, and a three-concert FlexPass that allows you to choose concerts up to the day of the event subject to availability. Season subscribers are assured the best seats available, free ticket exchanges, and VIP privileges. Celebrate this colorful season with the Monterey Symphony, along with the 10th Anniversary of Music Director and Conductor Max Bragado-Darman.

The Monterey Symphony’s 69th season opens in October 2014, with an exceptional multimedia performance of Disney FANTASIA – Live In Concert. Audiences will watch stunning footage from the animated film, while classical favorites, including excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6, and Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, are performed live by the orchestra. The concert also represents a new collaboration for the Monterey Symphony with the Carmel International Film Festival, offering savings on the best in classical music and film through a joint, season subscription package.

As the season continues, the Monterey Symphony transports you to colorful cities in Spain, the United States, and France in November’s City Lights concert. Trombonist Charlie Vernon from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra stars in Chick ‘a’ Bone Checkout, a work inspired by Carl Sandburg’s Chicago poem; the young musicians of Youth Music Monterey County perform side-by-side with the orchestra in Ravel’s Alborada del Gracioso, a Spanish work inspired by his Basque heritage; and concludes with Gershwin’s exuberant An American in Paris. The Spring 2015 repertoire blooms with Spanish pianist, Joaquin Achúcarro, in February, and Icelandic violinist, Judith Ingolfsson, in March. The fifth concert in April, Majestic Realm, alludes to the nostalgia felt for our homeland, with what is certain to be a spectacular performance by violist Roberto Díaz, President of the Curtis Institute of Music and former principal violist of the Philadelphia Orchestra. The season closes in May with a flamboyant, all orchestral grand finale, Invitation to Dance. Without question, The Colors of Music has something for everyone. (Schedule and details below)

Cross-Post LLC Launches Recruitment Classifieds Platform

New option for employers provides a lower cost, responsively designed platform with award winning tools to improve the candidate experience.

Petaluma, CA, USA (August 20, 2014) — Cross-Post LLC announced today the launch of its new CareerPointe™ Recruitment Classifieds Platform designed for the newspaper industry. Cross-Post LLC, the leader in providing niche recruitment networks for ten years, serves nearly 200 newspapers in North America offering products that enable publishers to help employers recruit in specialty niche markets. Their SocialJobWorking® Network transformed the industry and other networks like Diversity, Veterans, Healthcare, Nursing, Trucking and others utilize some of the largest job boards on the web to deliver qualified talent at a fraction of the cost.

“We have listened to our customer’s needs for a stable, cost effective and responsive Recruitment Classifieds Platform. The key challenges they face with their existing platforms are mobile and social compatibility, flexibility, ease of use and most importantly tools to improve the candidate experience. We have responded with a comprehensive design that includes an award winning (ONREC 2014) technology developed by Careerleaf of Toronto Canada that puts control of a candidate’s careers back in their hands.” noted Carl Braun, Co-Founder and CEO. “The trend was a very important topic at the recent IAEWS Conference (International Association of Employment Websites) in Nashville,” he added.

Careerleaf founder Afifa Siddiqui agrees. “Careerleaf is very excited about being the technology behind CareerPointe. Our mandate is to create an exceptional candidate experience to empower job seekers with huge value while building loyalty with the platform.”

Careerpointe™ will be made available to existing as well as future potential clients with very competitive pricing and no long-term contracts making it both affordable and lucrative as newspapers and publishers will have several new options for earning additional, incremental revenue, but more importantly the candidate stickiness that other job boards lack which makes the revenue gains even more achievable. “Newspapers have a loyal, local audience. Once that readership realizes they can use the newspaper platform to manage all of their job search efforts, no matter what the site, they will respond accordingly.” Braun noted.

“Historically, job boards have placed primary focus on employer acquisition. The candidate relationship has been assumed. Essentially its been ‘If we build it they will come’ Today, there are so many options for passive and active candidates that they can be quite selective on which boards they work with and which companies they ultimately work for. Careerpointe™ is one stop shopping for job candidates. They can use the free tools to do everything from apply with a mobile device to search for free online courses to improve their resumes and their knowledge.” said John Fujii, Cross-Post President and Co-Founder.

The Newspaper Recruitment Classifieds platform was designed exclusively for the newspaper industry and helps them generate revenue easier from niche networks and other products not currently available in the marketplace. It connects seamlessly to all existing sales systems.

“I am TRULY amazed with CareerPointe™. As recruiting professionals, we try to make sure we are constantly evolving. Careerpointe™ adapts to new SEO requirements instantly and provides innovative tools to maximize revenue from an enhanced candidate experience.” noted Chelle Bize, former Manager of Recruitment Advertising with the Las Vegas Review Journal and Manager of Special Projects for the Technology Division of Southern Nevada Goodwill.

LinkOptimizer for InDesign Now Supports “Preserve Details” Resampling

Zevrix Solutions announces LinkOptimizer 4.9.20, a feature update to its workflow automation solution for Adobe InDesign. Awarded 4 out of 5 starts by Computer Arts magazine, LinkOptimizer allows to reduce InDesign link size and speed up processing by eliminating excess image data. The software also performs image adjustments, converts formats and helps repurpose files for web and mobile devices. The new version supports the Preserve Details image resampling method in Photoshop CC and later.

Toronto (ON), Canada (August 19, 2014) — Zevrix Solutions today announces LinkOptimizer 4.9.20, a feature update to its popular workflow automation solution for Adobe InDesign. Awarded 4 out of 5 stars by Computer Arts magazine, LinkOptimizer automates complex image manipulation tasks allowing to significantly reduce the size of InDesign links, save processing time and reduce production costs.

The new version lets users use the Preserve Details resampling method for image processing in Photoshop CC and later. This advanced method allows to enlarge a low-res image so it looks great in print, or start with a larger image and blow it up to poster or billboard size. New upsampling preserves detail and sharpness without introducing noise.

LinkOptimizer works automatically with Adobe Photoshop to eliminate the excess image data of InDesign links, perform essential image adjustments and convert image formats. For example, with just a click of a button users can:

scale and crop images to match their dimensions in InDesign,
-change their resolution to 300 dpi,
convert RGB images to CMYK,
-apply color profile,
-resave JPEG images as TIFF,
-run a Photoshop Action on each image.

At the end of processing, LinkOptimizer reimports images to InDesign at 100% in their precise position. In addition, the software can apply sharpening filters, merge layers and delete hidden ones, and process copies of InDesign documents and images instead of original files. As a result, users can save gigabytes of disk space and countless hours of optimizing images manually, accelerate document output, reduce job turnaround and cut costs through faster processing.

Pricing and Availability:
LinkOptimizer can be purchased from Zevrix website for US$259.95 (Light version: $179.95) as well as from authorized resellers. Trial is also available for download. The update is free for LinkOptimizer 4.x users and $130 to upgrade from previous versions. LinkOptimizer is available for Mac OS X 10.6-10.9 and works with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop CS3-CC 2014.

About The Company:

PureShowers.co.uk was established in 2008 after the directors noticed there was no easy solution for everyone to protect themselves from the harmful and adverse effects of chemicals and contaminants in the extremely hard U.K water supply. They offer a variety of Shower Filters for health and beauty which are available online via a secure ecommerce store at http://www.pureshowers.co.uk. Prices start from £29.95 (including VAT) and can be ordered on the web or by calling 0800 612 7174

What Do It’s Customers Say:

“Just to let you know we are absolutely delighted with our filter.  Easy to fit and doesn’t look bulky or ‘added on’ in our shower.  My daughter and I love it because we both have coloured hair, and the soft water actually makes the colour last longer and definitely has a conditioning effect on the hair.  Added benefit is that my skin is noticeably softer and smoother after showering.  I will definitely continue to use it and certainly miss it when I have to shower away from home.  Many thanks for wonderful service and a brilliant product.” – Gwen and Katie Branton

“Such a great product! My hair is no longer chalky and matted, my skin doesn’t itch, I don’t know how anyone can cope with London’s hard water without one!” – Nadia Carnevale

“I live in a hard water area in Kew Gardens, Surrey and since replacing my shower head with your pure head filter shower head I have noticed a huge difference in the condition of my hair and skin. This is a great product. It is simple to install ,good value and works exceptionally well.” – M. Tuohy
