Las Vegas, NV (USA), December 27, 2012 — Aftermarket automotive specialist Mods4cars will ring in the New Year with a new product. The SmartTOP convertible top controller for the just recently introduced Mercedes-Benz SL R231 Roadster will be ready to ship in January 2013. This end-user installable module allows opening and closing of the convertible top at slow speeds of up to 60km/h (~38mph). The top switch only needs to be tapped once. No more holding down for the duration of the operation is necessary.
Raising and lowering the top from the existing factory key fob remote is also possible with one-touch convenience: Up to the full RF range of the remote and without the need to hold down any button.
“Our customer can now close the top at the first sign of rain from within the street cafe.” explains PR-Manager Sven Tornow one of the many advantages of the SmartTOP module.
Also the optional factory Keyless-Go feature was integrated into Mods4cars’ newest product design. “Owners of the new SL can open or close the top by simply touching the driver’s side door handle while keeping the key in their pocket.” Sven Tornow continues. Additionally, the windows can be controlled separately from the top and optionally the starting or stopping of the engine will not interrupt an ongoing top operation. When needed, the entire module can be quickly disabled while retaining all user settings.
Installation and configuration of the convertible top module is simple and straightforward. A custom designed plug-and-pay wiring adapter is part of the kit. It connects the SmartTOP module to the vehicle electronics in a plug in between fashion without the need to tamper with any wires. The module sports a fully integrated setup mode, which allows adjusting all user configurable settings on the in-dash LCD with full and clear English text output. Thanks to the standard USB connection all settings and firmware updates can also be done with a Windows or Mac laptop. Updates and manuals are available free of charge at Mods4cars’ website.
