FITNESS WEBSITE TARGETS WORKING MOMS

Working Mom Workouts is a fitness website that is geared towards busy and working moms. The website provides weekly fitness workouts and nutritional tips to its members on a weekly basis.

‘After working all day, I’m too tired to go to the gym. I don’t have time to prepare a healthy meal every night.’ Issues like these prompted Dallas-based fitness professional Dave McGarry to launch workingmomworkouts.com, a membership-based website that provides weekly workout and nutrition plans via email to help weight loss aspirations.

“Working women have two jobs–they work all day and then come home and take care of their families,” says Dave McGarry, a former personal trainer who went on to earn an MBA and work as a fitness executive. “In my years as a personal trainer, I helped many working moms find ways to fit it all in, and now I’m sharing that knowledge on a larger scale.”

After filling out a personal profile and confirmation of their membership to the program, members will be immediately sent the first lesson, which contains everything they need to get started. Therafter, once a week, members receive an email that contains that weeks workouts and nutrition advice.

“I love Working Mom Workouts because it really fits into my schedule”, says Teresa Robinson, a member from College Station. “Each week is new and exciting, so I am never bored.”

Typically, McGarry suggests members exercise 20 minutes a day, five days a week. On two of the days, McGarry suggests cardiovascular exercise of the members choice. On the other three days, members follow an easy-to-follow, illustrated strength-training workout that can be done in a gym or at home.

“I love that the workouts are visual and show you exactly how to do each exercise,” says Wendy Whitlock, a member from Orlando.

Membership to workingmomworkouts.com costs $19.95 per month, which is a small fraction of the cost of a personal trainer and nutritionist, not to mention a gym membership. Yet, members still get the advantage of personal attention and motivation.

In a recent article from the WSJ, entitled The Power of a Gentle Nudge, researchers at Stanford University stated, “Small amounts of social support, emails from a support person and occasional meetings with a fitness counselor can produce large and lasting gains against physical inactivity and weight gain.”

“Dave’s e-mails motivate me,” says Betsy Patterson, a member, mother and attorney from Austin. “Not only to get physically fit, but also to lead a healthy and happy lifestyle–from the inside and out.”

Once members sign up at workingmomworkouts.com, they will receive their first lesson instantly in a PDF format. The next workout will arrive one week later and continue for six months. At that point, McGarry believes members will be able to continue on their own and have the foundation to succeed long term.

Satisfaction is guaranteed, so members can cancel and/or get their money back at any time.
