The aftermarket SmartTOP Convertible Top Controller made by Mods4cars for Peugeot 207CC now ships with an improved Plug and Play wiring adapter harness. The new harness makes installation even easier and locks connections between module and vehicle electronics into place more securely.

Las Vegas, NV (USA), September 26th, 2016 — Automotive aftermarket electronics specialist Mods4cars has overhauled the design of the custom designed Plug-and-Play wiring harness for the SmartTOP Convertible Top Controller kit. The new connectors make it impossible to mate plug and socket the wrong way around. Now instead of simply connecting two plugs, there is a custom designed socket which mates perfectly and securely with the matching plug and includes a locking latch.

Using the Plug-and-Play wiring adapter harness which comes as part of the kit, installation of the SmartTOP module is extremely easy and gives 207CC owners a quick and simple way to obtain the benefits of having a SmartTOP controller installed: The top can be opened and closed while driving up to a speed of 50km/h (~32mph). A quick tap on the top switch is enough to start a full automatic operation. Additionally the top can be controlled from the original factory key remote. No changes are necessary to the original remote.

“We continually work on making installation of our products as simple as possible for our customers.” explains PR-Manager Sven Tornow. “We are very happy that we were able to further simplify the installation process for the Peugeot 207CC kit. Thanks to the new connector socket it is now impossible to damage any contacts or make a wrong connection and it is no longer necessary to secure the plugs as this new socket has a built-in locking mechanism which latches the connectors securely into place.” Sven Tornow continues.

Each SmartTOP module comes with a host of bonus features as well. In the case of the 207CC the windows can be controlled separately from the top by remote. All windows can be closed using one-touch operation from the center console switch. An extended mode can be activated, which allows the engine to be started or stopped during an ongoing top operation. All functions and features can be individually programmed by the user. A setup menu is available which uses the in-dash display to show clear text options. SmartTOP Additional Top Control for the Chevrolet Corvette C7 will be Available Soon

The retrofit SmartTOP convertible module made by Mods4cars will be available soon for the Chevrolet Corvette C7. It allows, among other things, the one-touch operation of the convertible top, furthermore, the top can be operated from afar, by pressing a button via the existing vehicle keys.

Las Vegas, NV (USA), August 15th, 2016 — The manufacturer Mods4cars has announced the SmartTOP top control for the new Corvette C7. From the end of August, this year, the smart Cabriolet opener will be available. The SmartTOP module enables operation of the roof by one touch. Tapping the interior button, the tops movement is automatically set in motion. Thereby omitting the need for the laborious continuous pressing.

In addition to simpler roof operation from inside the vehicle, the roof can be operated remotely via the existing remote control. For this, pressing a combination of keys on the ignition key is sufficient. With this, SmartTOP customers can already open the top, as they approach the convertible. No changes to the vehicle key is required for this feature.

“We have acknowledged the many inquiries and look forward to still offering our SmartTOP module, for the Chevrolet Corvette C7, during this cabriolet season.” Explains PR spokesman Sven Tornow. “We have also managed to make the installation of our new product dead easy. A precise fitting cable set ensures a simple plug connection between the vehicle electronics and SmartTOP module.” Sven Tornow continued.

The SmartTOP for Corvette C7 will be delivered in the new Mods4cars housing. A USB port allows the programming of the module via a home PC / MAC. Las Vegas, NV (USA), May 12th, 2016 — The SmartTOP Add-On Convertible Top Controller for Ferrari California is now available and in stock. The newest product made by aftermarket automotive electronics specialist Mods4cars makes using the convertible top easier and more fun every day. “We are happy to be able to offer a convenient solution for the Ferrari California in addition to the ones we have for the Ferrari 360 and 430 Spider.” says PR-Manager Sven Tornow.

The SmartTOP is a module that comes as part of an add-on Convertible Top Controller kit and can be installed by anyone. It allows owners to control their top from a distance by just using the original key fob remote. A quick sequence of key presses triggers a full automatic top operation. “The top can be opened while still approaching the car. In the opposite case it can be closed quickly at the first sign of impending rainfall, with no need to get inside and turn the ignition on.” Sven Tornow continues. Neither the original key remotes nor any of the car’s safety systems need to be modified.

Additionally, when inside, the top can be opened or closed conveniently with a quick tap on the console switch. It is no longer necessary to hold down the switch for the entire duration of the operation. “This saves time, as the SmartTOP customer can touch the switch, turn the ignition off, get out and lock the car, while the top continues to close by itself.” Sven Tornow explains.

It is possible to program the desired position of the windows after opening the top. Selections include all windows down, front windows up and all windows up. The windows can also be controlled from the remote fob, separately from the top.

By factory default the two small rear windows are permanently in the down position as long as the convertible top is open. One of the SmartTOP features now allows them to be raised. The car owner can decide if he wants all four windows to come up after opening the top for a better wind protection while driving at higher speeds. It also improves on the overall look of the California with top down: Raising all windows gives the Ferrari a more refined and complete look.

An extended mode can be activated, which allows the engine to be started or stopped while a top operation continues. All features can be individually programmed. The module comes with built-in USB port and support software for Windows and Mac as well as firmware updates for all products are available online, free of charge. The module’s functions can also be programmed in the car with a sequence of keypresses.

The kit comes complete with a plug-and-play wiring adapter for extremely easy installation. Connecting the module to the car electronics is done by simply plugging in a few connectors. When locking the car, a short horn signal (chirp) can be activated (A5) and an extended mode can be activated which allows starting or stopping the engine while a top operation continues. The entire module can be deactivated temporarily while retaining all user settings for when it is reactivated later on.

Other than the two main features mentioned above, the SmartTOP comes with a host of configurable bonus features: All windows can be simultaneously and fully automatically closed via the “all windows” switch. An “extended mode” allows turning the ignition on or off while an ongoing top operation is allowed to continue. Turning off the ignition can be set to unlock the doors. The passenger mirror can be programmed to dip down in reverse gear. A safety feature can be activated that blinks the hazard blinkers during remote activated top operation.

The entire module can be deactivated temporarily while retaining all other user configurable settings. The module comes with a standard USB port for quick and easy firmware updates via PC or Mac as well as computer based configuration of the module user settings. Support software and firmware updates are available online and free of charge.

A plug-in-between wiring adapter is part of the kit. It allows for a simple and easy installation of the SmartTOP module in the car by just connecting the module to the car electronics in two steps.

Just in time for the convertible top season 2015 the module for the Nissan 370Z Roadster has received the new, custom designed enclosure. The new shape and size of the module is not only slimmer and more esthetic looks wise, it also makes installation a lot easier.

Due to the smaller size it can be mounted in tighter spaces in the car and two integrated LEDs indicate when the module was installed correctly. The new enclosure also uses a lot less plastic and no more screws. This makes the product more environmentally friendly overall.

The SmartTOP kits make using the convertible top easier and more fun. They allow drivers to open and close the top with one-touch convenience and while driving at slow speeds of up to 40 km/h (~28 mph). It is no longer necessary to hold down the switch for the duration of the operation. A quick tap is enough to start a full automatic open or close cycle.

Additionally it is possible to control the top from a distance, using just the original factory key fob remote. A quick key combination on the remote triggers automatic opening or closing of the top.
