Rosendin Electric Receives 2015 Safety Excellence Award from National Electrical Contractors Association

NECA Awards Rosendin Electric for Its Exemplary Safety Performance.

San Jose, CA, USA (June 14, 2015) — Rosendin Electric, one of the nation’s largest private electrical contractors and an employee-owned company, has received the 2015 Safety Excellence Award, one of the highest honors for workplace safety, from the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA).

Every year, NECA recognizes member companies for their outstanding safety performance during the previous calendar year and rewards those companies that achieve the highest safety score. The cumulative score is based on points for the lowest injury and illness rates and the insurance industry’s Experience Modification Rate (EMR).

“On behalf of NECA, I would like to commend Rosendin Electric, Inc., for achieving the 2015 Safety Excellence award. Your commitment to safety raises your company’s standards…we congratulate you on this achievement. This award reflects your dedication to following the industry’s highest safety standards,” noted John M. Grau, Chief Executive Officer of NECA.

As part of its expanding safety program, Rosendin Electric recently implemented the use of smart devices to perform real-time safety audits. The mobile app is used to identify potential problem areas before there is an incident. Results are sent to the Safety Team for review, to be monitored and addressed, as necessary, during site visits. The same data is shared with field supervision and project management for safety monitoring and administration. The company has also added a toll-free number that employees can call to share their safety concerns. Calls can be anonymous or callers can leave a name and number for callback.

As part of their commitment to continuously improve, Rosendin Electric has also begun training its operations management team to receive Safety Trained Supervisor for Construction (STS-C) certification through the America Society of Safety Engineers. The company’s goal is to have all Project Managers and Division Managers STS-C certified.

“Safety is a part of Rosendin Electric’s DNA and we are delighted to receive this acknowledgement from NECA for our commitment,” said Marty Rouse, CSP, CHST, STS-C, Vice President of Safety at Rosendin Electric. “We want to thank NECA for their dedication to promoting workplace safety and for recognizing our safety culture with this prestigious industry award. By working with NECA to build safety best practices, Rosendin Electric is continuously improving our safety culture with new protocols and procedures.”

Rosendin Electric Consolidates Renewable Energy Divisions

Leading Commercial Electrical Contractor Consolidates Wind, Solar, and Battery Storage into Group Headquartered in Southern California.

Los Angeles, CA, USA (April 29, 2015) — Rosendin Electric, one of the nation’s largest private electrical contractors and an employee-owned company, announced the consolidation of its Renewable Energy Divisions in its Southern California office. Dedicated to the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of renewable energy projects, the newly formed Rosendin Electric Renewable Energy Group bridges the company’s Solar Power and Wind Energy Divisions, and adds battery storage and sustainable power to support the emerging microgrid market.

Rosendin Electric’s Renewable Energy Divisions will continue to bid on alternative energy projects that take advantage of the company’s expertise in solar and wind power construction. It also allows the company to develop new strategies to service customers looking for backup power and alternative energy solutions. For example, there is a growing demand for microgrids to service rural areas and island communities with more sustainable, cost-effective power. Rosendin Electric has been expanding its market reach into areas such as Puerto Rico where microgrids designed using a combination of solar arrays, wind power, natural gas generators, and energy storage offer an attractive alternative power solution.

“Demand for renewable energy solutions is on the rise, and by bringing together our Solar, Wind, and Power Storage specialties under one umbrella, we can develop new, hybrid sustainable solutions that take advantage of the best resources available,” said Jon “Woody” Woodworth, Senior Vice President for Rosendin Electric. “Rosendin Electric is in a unique position to pioneer new renewable energy solutions because of our depth of knowledge and experience in both solar and wind power.”

Woodworth will head up the new Renewable Energy Group. David Lincoln will continue his role as Director of Solar Operations and Nate Williams will remain Division Manager for Wind Power. Duncan Frederick remains in his position as Director of Marketing, Energy Services, overseeing business development for the company’s Caribbean and Latin American markets while also driving Rosendin Electric’s distributed generation integrated energy solutions initiative. Glenn Patterson will be relocating from Rosendin Electric’s Oregon regional office as Preconstruction Manager for Energy Storage. The Rosendin Electric Renewable Energy Group will have its headquarters in Rosendin Electric’s regional office in La Palma, California.

Rosendin Electric has been providing wind power services for more than a decade and has installed over 10,000 megawatts (MW) of clean wind energy throughout the United States. The company added solar power EPC services seven years ago and has installed arrays generating more than 1,240 MW of clean power throughout the country, including Puerto Rico. The Renewable Energy Group has a joint comprehensive portfolio of construction services, including design-build, substation and switchyard installation, vertical tower wiring, overhead collection systems and transmission lines, underground collection systems, and substation design and communications integration.

Rosendin Electric Launches New Website To Profile Breadth of Capabilities and Promote Online Collaboration

Rosendin.com Gets a New Look with More Details on Specialty Divisions, Projects, Events, History, and a New Subcontractor Portal.

San Jose, CA, USA (February 23, 2015) — Rosendin Electric, one of the nation’s largest private electrical contractors and an employee-owned company, today announced the launch of a new website to reflect the company’s diverse construction and engineering capabilities and activities, and the company has added a new portal for subcontractors to manage their information.

The new website provides an immediate snapshot of Rosendin Electric’s services, including Design-Build Engineering, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and renewable energy. Rosendin Electric is a pioneer in Lean Construction best practices and has been an innovator in streamlining construction practices using mobile communications and networking technologies. The new website also provides a showcase for the company’s construction projects, including work in commercial construction, transportation, solar and wind power, and low-voltage wiring.

A new addition to Rosendin.com is a Subcontractor Portal that allows partner contractors to log in to access information about payment status, insurance certificates, W-9 status, and other documentation. Each subcontractor is assigned a secure account that they use to share documents, paperwork, and invoices for review and approval. The portal will become the primary means of communicating with contractors and Rosendin Electric executives predict that providing a self-service portal will save hours in administrative time and speed payment processing.

“We continue to incorporate online resources into our everyday operations,” said Sam Lamonica, CIO of Rosendin Electric. “The launch of this new website with the Subcontractor Portal marks the next step in promoting online partner collaboration. We expect to use the new website as a springboard to expand our online capabilities to continue to streamline workflow and business processes.”

Rosendin Electric is very involved with the community in every region where the company maintains an office, not only through its construction work, but also through community projects and goodwill activities. The new website will serve as a means to communicate with the communities they serve and profile projects that serve those communities.

The new website also shows Rosendin Electric’s international reach. The company now has 13 regional offices serving regions across the country, and the company has been responsible for projects in Israel, Sweden, and Guam. There also is a company timeline dating back to its founding in 1919, and a profile of Rosendin Electric’s commitment to teamwork, quality, service, and integrity.

“We are a very old company working on the cutting edge of electrical construction and this website more closely reflects who we are,” said Tom Sorley, Chairman and CEO of Rosendin Electric. “Rosendin Electric has always been dedicated to attracting the best talent available and building a business with national reach and positive local community impact. Our new online presence allows us to share more details about our industry and community involvement and more closely collaborate with our partners.”

To facilitate recruiting and community outreach, Rosendin Electric has added a list of current job openings and expanded its social media reach. Rosendin Electric Wins a Gold Vision Award from Constructech for New Mobile Material and Tool Management App

Rosendin Electric Recognized for Harnessing Mobile Computing Technology to Automate Material and Tool Management from the Job Site.

San Jose, CA, USA (October 15, 2014) — Rosendin Electric, the nation’s largest private electrical contractor and an employee-owned company, today announced the company has received the Gold Constructech Vision Award in the Specialty Contractor: Electrical Work category. The award was recently announced in Redwood City, California, following Constructech magazine’s Technology Day.

The Constructech Vision Awards acknowledge companies that have stayed up-to-date on the latest trends and products in order to make decisions that have helped their businesses succeed and thrive. Rosendin Electric was selected for a Gold Vision Award for developing a new mobile app that works with the Autodesk® BIM 360™ Field platform to streamline material and tool management for field personnel.

Rather than manually listing materials or equipment and generating paper or email requisitions, the Material and Tool Management App allows the field team to use mobile devices to order conduit, wire, fixtures, and other materials. The requisition is automatically routed for approval and fulfillment by purchasing, the equipment yard, Tool Manager, or other departments. The App is designed to check inventory before generating a purchase order and every order has a QR code that tracks the materials from shipping to the final installation location. The App has even been extended to support Rosendin Electric’s pre-fabrication unit where assemblies are built, coded for tracking, and shipped to the job site.

With the deployment of the Material and Tool Management App, Rosendin Electric has been able to dramatically reduce the time required to process materials and equipment orders. It has also reduced shipping and receiving errors and provides excellent materials tracking. Furthermore, the App has been designed to integrate with the existing document repository software and mobile technology already in use so no additional software or training were required.

“We have found that using handheld devices on the job site has revolutionized the way we work, and receipt of a Gold Vision Award is validation of the company’s innovation and technological achievements,” said Sam Lamonica, Vice President and CIO for Rosendin Electric. “We decided to create this app in-house since we better understood our requirements, and our team was able to acquire the skills needed for mobile app design and development so we didn’t have to restructure our IT Development Group. Now that we have the knowledge, we can continue to untether our field personnel, building apps for other business applications so users can access them from the job site.”

Rosendin Electric also received a Gold Constructech Vision Award in the category of Specialty Contractor: Electrical Work in 2011 and 2012.

Solar Power World Ranks Rosendin Electric Number 3 in List of Top 400 Solar Contractors

Rosendin Electric Continues to Rise in the Annual Rankings of the Best Solar Contractors in North America.

San Jose, Calif. (September 13, 2014) — Rosendin Electric, the nation’s largest private electrical contractor and an employee-owned company, has earned the third place ranking in Solar Power World’s list of the Top 400 Solar Contractors in North America. The publication also ranked Rosendin Electric number one among the top 100 solar contractors in California; number two among the top 50 solar specialists in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC); and number three among the top 25 utility solar contractors.

Solar Power World compiles an annual list that ranks solar contractors throughout North America based on a variety of criteria, including number of megawatts installed for the year and specific markets served (e.g. utility, residential, or commercial). To date, Rosendin Electric installed solar systems capable of generating 478 megawatts (MW) to make the company number three in North America.

In congratulating Rosendin Electric, Frank Andorka, Editorial Director of Solar Power World, wrote, “Only a tiny fraction of the nation’s companies have demonstrated such remarkably consistent excellence, particularly in the difficult economic environment of the past few years. This achievement truly puts you in rarified company.”

Rosendin Electric’s Solar Division specializes in installing utility-grade and distributed generation (DG) solar projects. The company designs and builds mid- to large-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, including substation design and installation, prefabrication, energy storage systems, and ancillary systems. Rosendin Electric’s Solar Division has installed PC systems for commercial, hospitals, schools, universities, and government facilities as well as utility-grade solar farms. Project sizes range from 100 kW to more than 200 MW. And Rosendin Electric performs more than 85 percent of its own EPC, which mitigates risk for investors and makes contracts more viable for financing since the company maintains total control over solar project deliverables.

“Ranking number three out of the top 400 North American contractors is a real milestone for our solar group,” said David Lincoln, Director of Solar Operations for Rosendin Electric. “We are now installing utility-grade solar systems across North America, as well as in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. Our growing reputation and EPC capabilities continue to bring in new clients who see the value of having Rosendin Electric on their team.”

Rosendin Electric Sponsors Safe Kids’ Car Seat Inspection

Rosendin Electric and Safe Kids Collaborate on San Jose Event to Promote Car Seat Safety for Silicon Valley Children.

San Jose, CA, USA (July 18, 2014) — Rosendin Electric, the nation’s largest private electrical contractor and an employee-owned company, is sponsoring a free child car seat safety fitting and inspection with Safe Kids (http://www.safekids.org/coalition/safe-kids-california), the global organization dedicated to promoting children’s safety. The car seat inspection is scheduled to take place at the Kohl’s parking lot at 2323 McKee Road, San Jose, August 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Statistics show that a correctly installed car seat can prevent injury or death to a child in 73 percent of automobile accidents; however, four out of every five child car seats are improperly installed. Safe Kids is committed to promoting child safety around the world, including organizing safety fitting and inspection events for parents.

Members of the California Highway Patrol, as well as the Santa Clara County Public Health Department, will be on hand for the August event to conduct inspections and demonstrate the proper use of car seats. Replacement seats will be provided, when appropriate, at no charge, while supplies last. The safety fitting and inspection is open to anyone who wants to ensure their car seats are installed correctly.

“We are delighted to be able to help Safe Kids fund and organize this safety inspection for parents,” said Aaron Muffi, Safety Manager at Rosendin Electric. “With financial help from Aldridge Electric and Bay Tool and Supply we were able to purchase new car seats, tents, and coolers for the event. Rosendin Electric has received national and local recognition for our on-the-job and at-the-office Safety Program, so this is a great way to carry our message to the community and help save children’s lives at the same time.”

This is the second time that Rosendin Electric has sponsored with Safe Kids. Last October Rosendin Electric worked with Safe Kids to sponsor a similar event where they were able to help 53 families, including inspecting child car seats and replacing 23 faulty seats.
