Jeff Martin (The Tea Party) Produces Exquisite Debut EP for New Australian Indie Duo, Secret Solis, with Terepai Richmond (The Whitlams) on the Drums

Adelaide, Australia, 2017-May-18 — /REAL TIME PRESS RELEASE/ — Between sold out tours of Australia and Canada in 2016, Jeff Martin (The Tea Party) invited new Australian indie folk / rock duo Secret Solis to record their debut EP, “Deep Down” at River House Studios near Byron Bay. The sessions produced a five track album of indie folk / rock anthems, the tracks resonating with both Led Zeppelin’s driving acoustic rock and the ethereal ballads of Pink Floyd. Jeff’s eastern palette adds an eclectic flavour to the EP that is reminiscent of his early albums with The Tea Party, as in Splendor Solis and Edges of Twilight. Terepai Richmond (The Whitlams) joins the line up on drums providing a John Bonham / Ginger Baker style foundation for the albums songs.

When asked to describe the project Martin says “I have been waiting for years to produce a sound like this at River House Studios. Of all the production work I have done over the last 25 years, including my work with The Tea Party, Secret Solis’ EP “Deep Down” is in the top five of work that I am most proud of.”

Secret Solis was formed in 2012 when established Cairns-based singer/songwriter, Kian Eder met Cally Pysden, a pianist and singer/songwriter from Adelaide. Before meeting Cally, Kian’s music was heavily influenced by Pink Floyd, The Tea Party, A Perfect Circle, and acoustic rock cross-over artists like Ben Harper. Collaborating with Cally added a new dimension to Kian’s vision, elevating the music to new heights with her soaring ethereal vocals the likes of Enya, Dido, Sia and Amy-Lee. Enter Jeff Martin as producer and musician using production techniques straight out of Jimmy Page’s playbook, and Terepai Richmond (The Whitlams) on drums and you have a special magic happening in the mix.

Martin agreed to produce the band after hearing only a small section of their demo, “Speechless Soul” and the rest is history. Jeff plays all the heavy guitars and solos, hurdy gurdy and synths including his boutique theremin. He also lends his voice to the band’s debut single, “Sunshine”. The second single, “Are You Listening?” features Jeff playing an old school rock solo unlike many have ever heard.

Both singles are now available at secretsolis.bandcamp.com

When asked what the songs are about Kian says “The songs are based on our personal experiences but ultimately we are aiming to create relatable themes that resonate with everyone. We want this music to heal, uplift and empower people to face and overcome the many challenges of life as our favourite music has done for us.”

The Debut EP “Deep Down” will be released via bandcamp on the 16th of June, 2017.

Secret Solis are currently seeking expressions of interest from record labels, managers and booking agents to take the project to the next level.

Roadcase Royale to Release Brand-New Single Not Giving Up on May 12th

Not Giving Up marks the band’s second single and follows their debut single release Get Loud

Los Angeles, CA, May 10, 2017 – Rock and R&B-influenced group Roadcase Royale will be releasing a brand new single entitled Not Giving Up on May 12th.  The band is fronted by Rock and Roll Hall-of-Famer Nancy Wilson of Heart and Liv Warfield of Prince’s New Power Generation, and also includes members from each of their respective bands.  Not Giving Up is a hard rock song that contains politically charged lyrics, following in the footsteps of the band’s debut single, Get Loud, which debuted at the January 21st Women’s March. The video for “Not Giving Up” will also be released next week via the group’s YouTube channel.

The track opens with Ryan Waters iconic bluesy guitar riff followed by the powerful entrance of the full band. The intensity level builds up during the first verse and climaxes at the chorus with the return of the same driving guitar riff and Warfield’s searing vocals.  The song’s refrain sends a message to stay strong in today’s politically divisive times, saying, “We watch you building up the wall, We’re waiting just to see it fall,
I’m saying we’re not givin’ up, givin’ up, no.”  With powerful lyrics and their full-tilt musicianship, Roadcase Royale will be “Not Giving Up” anytime soon.

Nancy Wilson had this to say about the “Not Giving Up”:

“The first time I listened to Liv and Ryan’s track of Not Giving Up I was floored by the deceptive simplicity and the powerful message of their song. I could hear the potential to make it our own. I knew right away we would be able to take that song not just for a test drive but straight onto the big rock race track!”

More about ROADCASE ROYALE:

Led by former Prince collaborator Liv Warfield and Nancy Wilson, co-founder of Heart, ROADCASE ROYALE has a rich background in rock and R&B. Warfield, Wilson, and their bandmates bring their decades of experience from the upper echelon of the music industry to ROADCASE ROYALE, along with a renewed sense of direction and drive. Joining Wilson and Warfield are Warfield’s lead guitarist and musical director Ryan Waters and Heart veterans Dan Rothchild (bass), Ben Smith (Drums) and Chris Joyner (Keys). Each of these members shine in ROADCASE ROYALE with their various sensibilities creating the group’s sensitive, passionate, and driving rock and R&B sound.

Sweet Honey in the Rock Announces Plans to Perform and Protest in Song for Scheduled Dates in North Carolina May 13/14

Internationally renowned a cappella ensemble and activists, SWEET HONEY IN THE ROCK, whose mission is empowerment, education and entertainment have announced they will proceed with their scheduled engagements in Goldsboro at the Paramount Theatre, May 13th, and  High Point Theatre, May 14th, in North Carolina.

New York, NY, May 14, 2016 – Internationally renowned a cappella ensemble and activists, SWEET HONEY IN THE ROCK, whose mission is empowerment, education and entertainment have announced they will proceed with their scheduled engagements in Goldsboro at the Paramount Theatre, May 13th, and  High Point Theatre, May 14th, in North Carolina. They will protest in song to express their opposition to the passage of the HB2 anti-transgender (so-called “bathroom law”) that has embroiled North Carolina in a national controversy.

In their official announcement, the group stated, “Sweet Honey in the Rock has always stood for justice, freedom, dignity, and basic human rights for all people, regardless of race, religion, age, ability, economic status, political affiliation, national origin, gender identity, or sexual orientation, and our diverse audiences reflect these principles. In 2010, we joined many other artists in the boycott against the unjust policy in Arizona (SB 1070) By declining to perform, however, we were constantly reminded by those in the struggle that they needed our voices for support. ”

“Although we do not endorse the recent passing of the unjust HB2 anti-transgender law in North Carolina, we will honor our prior commitments (Goldsboro, May 13; High Point, May 14) to offer music which will uplift and inspire all those who believe it is imperative to stand together against injustice.  We who believe in freedom cannot rest.”

“We are very sad to see Ysaye go,” says Carol Maillard, “but we know she’s embarking on a wonderful world of projects and accomplishments that she’ll undoubtedly achieve. She will always be a part of us and who knows when we might see her on the Sweet Honey stage again!”

“I have loved and deeply appreciated being a part of and contributing to the ensemble and legacy of Sweet Honey over the past 34 years,” stated Barnwell.

“The women of Sweet Honey will be my sisters forever, but I’ve felt a sense of calling to devote more of my personal and professional time to other projects that I’m very passionate about and have been nurturing for some time.”
