“We are proud and humbled by this honor,” said Ajay Goyal, CTO and Co-Founder of Prepay Nation. “It not only recognizes efforts on our part, but also the value of the service we provide enabling no-fee cross-border productized remittances.”

“Prepay Nation is a remarkable organization, and this recognition comes as no surprise to anyone who has been involved in their amazing growth over the past few years,” commented Carol Realini, payments innovator and Board Member at Prepay Nation. “The team has real vision, and an outstanding roster of talent for making it a reality. They’re bringing substantial value to each of their partners, and I have no doubt they will garner increasing recognition from Inc. and others moving forward.”

Brian Fox Joins Prepay Nation to Lead Activities in Canada

Financial Services Industry veteran to lead business development as Country Head.

Berwyn, PA (USA), August 15, 2014 — Prepay Nation, a leading provider of cross-border micro-value and prepaid mobile airtime transfers, has welcomed Western Union veteran and innovator Brian Fox to their team. Fox will be responsible for business development in the Canadian market, helping to expand Prepay Nation’s international value transfer and productized remittance services country-wide.

With a background in technology and software engineering, Fox has built his career driving the innovative application of technology to business goals. He started with Western Union Canada in 2001 and was responsible for building up partnerships with banking organizations all over the country, moving the company in a different direction and ultimately establishing one of Western Union’s most important channels.

His vision and passion for innovation have yielded outstanding results and accomplishments. He handled hundreds of millions of dollars per year for Western Union, and while expanding the company’s traditional retail distribution, Fox saw web- and mobile-based distribution as critical to future of the remittance industry in North America. In line with this, he drove a groundbreaking 2006 deal allowing Canadians, for the first time, to send money worldwide from their Scotiabank online banking portal or mobile banking app. In 2011, Fox established the organization’s first Web and smartphone bi-directional remittance service via relationships with the largest telcos in Canada, and the next year solidified a deal allowing all Canadian banks to offer international remittances via Western Union and the Interac E-transfer network. The first bank on the network went live in 2013, changing the remittance business in Canada forever.

“There is an enormous opportunity for Prepay Nation in Canada,” said Fox, “and it is directly related to the percentage of the population coming from other countries. On average twenty percent of the Canadian population is foreign born, but that escalates to as many as fifty percent in large metropolitan centers like Toronto.” The World Bank estimates the immigrant populations in Canada remit in excess of $20 billion dollars per year to their home countries “Immigrant populations that send financial support to their loved ones back home are always seeking convenient, cost-effective channels for doing so, and this is exactly what Prepay Nation does so well. The ability to deliver small values across international boundaries, instantaneously and without fees, is essentially impossible for conventional financial institutions. Prepay Nation’s value proposition using mobile airtime transfer is real innovation and has tremendous value for Canadian immigrants” added Fox.

“Brian is a true innovator, and one we are excited to bring onboard,” commented Anurag Jain, CEO of Prepay Nation. “He has insight not only into the current financial services industry and the Canadian market, but also into the growth trends that emerging technology is creating within the space. We are excited to have him on the team to nurture our existing valuable partnerships in Canada, and to continue developing our vision for the future.”

Cellcom Liberia and Prepay Nation Launch International Mobile Top-Up Worldwide

Partnership offers instant prepaid mobile airtime refills at over 175,000 retail locations.

Berwyn, PA (USA), August 15, 2014 — Cellcom Liberia, one of the largest telecommunications providers in Liberia and the first provider of 4G service in the region, has partnered with Prepay Nation, a leading provider of cross-border microvalue and prepaid mobile airtime transfers, to make mobile airtime refills for its subscribers available for purchase overseas. The move will open up a no-fee form of remittance to the hundreds of thousands of Liberian expatriates who support their loved ones back home.

Liberian emigrants are estimated to number over 500,000, largely concentrated in the U.S.A., Germany, Italy, Holland and UK. According to the World Bank, 20% of Liberia’s GDP comes from remittances as they send millions of dollars home every year to help loved ones with bills and expenses. Pew Research estimates $342 million worth of remittance was received by Liberia in 2012, out of which $166 million was sent from the U.S., and $80 million was sent from Guinea. Cellcom in Guinea and Prepay Nation have enjoyed a successful partnership for the last 2 years, a high-volume collaboration that has inspired corporate confidence in this Cellcom Liberia initiative.

Most of the funds received by Liberia is sent through traditional money transfer organizations, but the price of those channels is steep: it costs as much as $15 in fees to send only $200 from the United States to Liberia, where it must be physically collected, incurring both inconvenience and often risk.

“Mobile airtime is a different way to provide financial assistance to family back home,” said Hervé Perrin, VP of Business Development at Prepay Nation. “With this partnership, Liberian immigrants in the U.S.A., Canada, Europe and the Middle East can now purchase airtime refills for their loved ones’ phones. The full value of the purchase, with no fees subtracted, is received instantly on the subscriber’s mobile.”

“Their hard-earned dollars go further, and immediately relieve of one of their loved ones’ primary expenses,” added Perrin. “It’s a godsend for immigrant populations all over the world, and we’re thrilled to make it a reality for Cellcom subscribers.”

“Our primary focus is always on providing greater and greater value for our subscribers,” said John Vasikaran, CEO of Cellcom Liberia. “We have led the charge in growing and enhancing Liberia’s mobile technology infrastructure, and have twice been recognized as the Best GSM Company in Liberia. Opening up the ability to receive instant, Free of Cost airtime transfers from family and friends abroad is a perfect addition to our offerings. Prepay Nation’s retail network spans 175,000 locations, touching our whole diaspora, and we are confident that our customers will love this new opportunity.”

Tagattitude Announces Partnership with Prepay Nation

Prepay Nation enables international diasporas to transfer values to mobile wallets in Africa, Latin America and Caribbean via TagPay platforms.

Paris & Philadelphia, PA (USA), October 03, 2013 — Tagattitude, the company behind the award-winning TagPay mobile money platform, announces a partnership with Prepay Nation, a leading provider of cross-border, micro –value transfers. This partnership seeks to connect the customers in Prepay Nation’s distribution network with the mobile money services running on TagPay.

Prepay Nation has an established practice in mobile airtime transfers and currently works with key mobile operators like Airtel, Etisalat, Digicel, Tigo, America Movil, and Orange to facilitate the transfer of prepaid airtime to in-country subscribers from loved ones abroad in developed nations. Since there are no fees charged to the receiver or to the sender, the service has become tremendously popular among expatriates, especially in North America and the Middle East.

Prepay Nation’s partnership with Tagattitude complements their strong growth initiative into productized remittance opportunities that allow immigrant workers to buy goods and services for their family members back home on a real-time basis, rather than sending cash via conventional money remittance channels. . Their distribution network covers over 200,000 partner point of sale locations in North America, Europe, and the Middle East, serving millions of expatriate, immigrant, and prepaid wireless customers both banked and unbanked.

“With the increasing demand among members of various global diasporas for productized remittance opportunities to support their dependents back home, we are always looking for innovative methods to satisfy that need ,” explains Prepay Nation CEO, Anurag Jain, “Integrating with TagPay was a natural choice, as our existing customers who currently transfer airtime will now have the option to transfer value into a mobile wallet of a family member abroad. Through a single integration we have created new business opportunities for our partners and the mobile money operators using the TagPay platform.”

Over 20 existing mobile money services run on TagPay platforms and this number is steadily increasing. Companies like MobiPay (Namibia), MCash (Uganda), Celpaid (Ivory Coast), and HaitiPay (Haiti) use TagPay to offer valuable e-money services that promote financial inclusion in their countries. These services typically include account management (mobile wallet), mobile payment for retail purchases, person-to-person transfers, bill payment and more.

Thanks to the partnership between Tagattitude and Prepay Nation, all TagPay-based mobile money services can use Prepay Nation’s distribution network to facilitate transfers of value to their user base from loved ones all over the world.

“Building and maintaining an entire agent network from scratch is a major challenge and investment for any mobile money service,” explains Tagattitude CEO Yves Eonnet, “Plugging into existing networks is a great way to get around this however few networks are willing or able to do the technical integration that is often required to connect to a single service, particularly if that service is new on the market. Prepay Nation’s expertise enabled a seamless and rapid integration, which has produced a level of global connectivity that we’re excited about. Since all of Tagattitude’s clients use the same type of platform (TagPay), with just one integration Prepay Nation’s distribution network can process transactions seamlessly and securely for any TagPay-based service.”

Prepay Nation and Tagattitude will showcase their successfully completed technical integration October 6-10 on Prepay Nation’s booth #119 at the Money2020 event in Las Vegas.

With integration out of the way, Prepay Nation has begun discussions with Tagattitude’s clients who have had an overwhelmingly positive reaction to Prepay Nation’s offering.

“We are thrilled that Haitians living in the US will soon be able to send money home to a family member’s HaitiPay account just by going to a retail outlet connected to the Prepay Nation platform,” shared HaitiPay CEO Pascale Elie, “This new service will boost usage and adoption of HaitiPay. International remittances has always been part of our vision and with Prepay Nation is will be possible to offer this much sooner than we had hoped.”

Though there are regulatory, business, and other considerations to take into account, it is expected that HaitiPay and many other TagPay-based mobile money services will soon be available via Prepay Nation’s distribution network.

Prepay Nation and HAY United Join to Bring International Mobile Top-Up to Kruidvat and Trekpleister Drug Stores in The Netherlands

Digicel and Telesur prepaid international airtime now available at 930 locations nationwide.

Berwyn, PA (USA), September 17, 2013 — Prepay Nation, a leading provider of cross-border micropayments and prepaid mobile airtime transfers, and their partner in the Netherlands, HAY United have launched international mobile top-up via Kruidvat and Trekpleister drugstores across the country.

For the initial launch of the distribution partnership, Prepay Nation is offering instant prepaid airtime refills for Digicel and Telesur phones in Suriname, allowing the estimated 350,000 Suriname expatriates living in The Netherlands the opportunity to top-up the phones of their loved ones back home. Customers can buy 10EUR or 25EUR vouchers in any Kruidvat or Trekpleister store, and use them to send that value home in the form of airtime.

As an added bonus exclusively for Digicel subscribers, during the initial launch period the recipients in Surinam will receive double the voucher amount purchased by customers in the Netherlands; a limited number of customers will also receive a free gift.

The two national drugstore chains have a combined footprint of 930 locations, and are prime shopping spots for members of the Surinamese diaspora. The selection of targeted IMTU offerings available in-store will be broadened over time, bringing steadily increasing value to the entire distribution chain, from carrier through customer.

Hans Lute, COO of Digicel in Surinam, called the launch an excellent opportunity. “Bringing international mobile top-ups to some of the most convenient and popular locations in the Netherlands is a fantastic chance, not only to broaden our distribution, but also to connect the residents of Suriname to one of the largest Surinamese expatriate populations in the world,” Gopaul said. “Our goal at Digicel is to keep people connected, and we’re thrilled to be doing that here with Prepay Nation and HAY United.”

“This is just the beginning of a strong partnership,” said Remco Nederpel, CEO of HAY United. “This distribution agreement has the potential to grow dramatically in scale, offering top-ups from a wide variety of international mobile brands to every diaspora in the Netherlands. We are pleased to start on this journey with Kruidvat and Trekpleister, and are excited to see it grow.”

Mobile Payments Pioneer Carol Realini Joins Prepay Nation Board to Assist In Expansion

Realini will position Prepay Nation for next level of growth.

Philadelphia, PA (USA), November 15, 2012 — Prepay Nation, one of the fastest growing providers of international airtime transfers for prepaid mobile operators in emerging nations, has announced that Silicon Valley serial entrepreneur and mobile payments pioneer Carol Realini has joined their board. The addition of Realini to Prepay Nation’s board adds significant value to the firm, as Realini will contribute to the company’s business strategy and help take Prepay Nation to the next level in growth and maturation.

Realini’s background will enable Prepay Nation to best target the diaspora populations and grow the network’s presence on six continents. By bringing her expertise to their board, Prepay Nation will further their success as an international mobile Top Up (IMTU), and offer other innovative services to the same customer base.

“We are thrilled to have Realini, a pioneer in mobile payments, join our board,” said Anurag Jain, CEO of Prepay Nation. “Adding a senior executive like Realini will allow Prepay Nation to build momentum toward faster growth and expansion.”

“I am happy to join Prepay Nation’s board ( http://www.prepaynation.com ) and aid them in expanding and maturing the business,” said Realini. “I got to know Prepay Nation a few years ago when they were just getting started. They have done an incredible job of building momentum and, unlike the typical Silicon Valley company and their competitors, they build this without any outside capital–just a small dedicated team committed to a simple great idea.”

Realini is a successful Silicon Valley executive, expert in financial service innovation, and globally recognized mobile payment pioneer. She has worked with leading financial and mobile network operators to change the way banking is conducted. In 2011, as a Technology Pioneer attending the World Economic Forum, she led discussions on alternative banking at their meeting in Davos. A serial entrepreneur, she has been recognized as one of the 50 Top Women in Technology by Corporate Board Member magazine.

Realini views international mobile Top Up as growing in popularity and the first of a new type of cross boarder transfer. International Mobile Top Up isn’t really replacing money transfers, but it is adding a new dimension to supporting the people back home. It is the best example of a new, no fee, small transfer to loved ones back home–and it touches many people’s lives. Unlike traditional money transfer which is one-to-one, likely once a month, international Top Up is one–to–many for friends and family. It is the first scaled example of “directed spend” and gifting which is an exciting new category of social cross border transfers.

Financial services innovation becomes a reality when service providers address an important pain point and consumers can easily adopt this new way of doing things. Realini saw the role mobile Top Up played around the world to drive the adoption of mobile banking. She is fond of saying, “People underestimate the importance of Top Up.”
