UN’s praise of Chinese green investment welcomes by AAA

UN leader, Ban Ki-moon, has praised the Chinese government for trying its best to invest in green energy sources, but added that developed countries should lead the way on the fight against climate change.

Boston, MA, USA, December 31, 2012 — UN leader, Ban Ki-moon, has praised the Chinese government for trying its best to invest in green energy sources, but added that developed countries should lead the way on the fight against climate change. The statement has attracted praise from Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA), which endorses green investments at any level.

Speaking after the climate change conference in Doha on 4 December, the UN secretary general, stated, “The Chinese Government has been making smart investments with the aim of diversifying their energy sources to mitigate and adapt according to their own national government policies. This is highly commendable.”

He added that other growth countries, such as India, Brazil and South Africa, should also be doing their bit to ensure that they invest in green energy generation. AAA’s analysis partner, Anthony Johnson, explained that Brazil is already looking at green sources of energy and is supporting other eco-friendly moves like the REDD+ scheme to reduce deforestation.

“The Brazilian government is investing in things like sustainable timber plantations to help generate alternative energy sources and sources of charcoal, which is used in the booming steel industry in Brazil.”

Ban Ki-moon continued to speak about the climate change issue, stating that the developed world needs to lead the way in green investments, because, they have the most resources and modern technologies.

“Rich countries should take the lead and the U.S. should play a very important role,” he added.

AAA is an alternative investment advocacy group that encourages individuals to make ethical, alternative investment choices, choosing asset classes like sustainable timberland, agricultural land and green energy.

“Many people are looking for a different way to invest following the economic crash and the resulting stock market volatility,” added Mr Johnson. Timberland plantations, such as those run by Greenwood Management and other similar firms in Brazil can offer an ethical and profitable option.

Investment expert joins FRA in promoting Green investments

Increasing green investments in asset classes such as forestry will help investors and will also help to boost the creation of a sustainable economy, according to an experts US-based money manager and FRA.

Bainbridge Island, WA, August 16, 2012 – Increasing green investments in asset classes such as forestry will help investors and will also help to boost the creation of a sustainable economy, according to an experts US-based money manager and Forestry Research Associates (FRA).

Quoted by KMS Baltic, Jeremy Grantham, the head of Boston-based investment firm GMO said that investing in green asset classes should be encouraged, In response, FRA, A research and analysis consultancy, has agreed, stating, “investing in sustainable forestry and other green asset classes can help developing countries to start to reap the benefits of a truly global sustainable economy.”

The statement from Mr Grantham came as part of a letter to his GMO clients last week. As a result of his views on the importance of green investments and the rising price of food, in particular, GMO is changing its focus to include around 15 per cent investment in forestry and agriculture land from now on.

His letter stated, “You can confidently expect that if resource prices steadily rise in real terms, then resource stocks should outperform the market.”

FRA’s analysis partner, Peter Collins, said that the increased use of materials like timber as a fuel is also a reason to invest more heavily in these resources. “As energy prices continue to rise and fossil fuels become more scarce, the demand for biomass energy, which include crops and wood chips, is bound to rise further and further. Investing in sustainable sources for these resources should pay dividends in the future.

FRAs support sustainable forestry investment through plantation projects such has the one run by Greenwood Management in Brazil. A growing number of investors are opting for forestry investments as demand for timber grows as a result of renewable energy demand and demand for timber as a construction material in China, India and other emerging economies.

Sustainability receiving Boost from Investors, claims FRA

Forestry investors are helping to boost sustainability, claims FRA.

Seattle, United States, May 3, 2012 — Forestry investors are helping to boost sustainability, claims Forestry Research Associates (FRA).

FRA, along with a host of other experts, are claiming that the increased interest in alternative investments, and particularly ethical investments, is helping to boost the importance of sustainability around the globe.

A recent article in the Financial Times also highlighted how investment in sustainable real estate is also helping to boost the demand for green buildings, with more and more investors realising the benefit of putting their cash towards an ethical project.

“There’s no doubt that green investments are proving more popular these days, explained FRA’s analysis partner, Peter Collins. He added, “Investors are largely disillusioned with the state of economy and the fact that the banks held all the power for so long.”

FRA claims that the tide is changing and that investors are increasingly looking at ways to contribute to a more sustainable way of living and investing.

Forestry investment is one of the areas that has attracted a huge amount of attention in recent years. Investing in sustainable timber plantations offers a lower-risk option for investors who are keen to make an impact with their cash. “Investing in timber is less risky as you don’t have to harvest and sell your timber when your trees reach maturity – you can always hang onto them and watch them continue to grow until the price is right,” explained Collins.

This, teamed with the fact that timber demand is soaring in emerging markets such as India, China and Brazil, means that prices are set to rise in the coming years. “Investing in timber grown in Canada or Brazil through firms like Greenwood Management offers a uniquely profitable and ethical choice that will help investors get a taste of green investments for as little as around $15,000,” concluded Mr Collins.
