Rosendin Electric Earns Spot on the 2013 InformationWeek 500 List of Top Technology Innovators for Third Year in a Row

Leading Electrical Contractor Harnesses Consumer Technologies, Cloud Services, and Mobile Applications to Streamline Operations.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (September 11, 2013) — Rosendin Electric, the nation’s largest private electrical contractor and an employee-owned company, today announced that it has been named to this year’s InformationWeek 500 – a list of the top technology innovators in the United States. This is the third consecutive year that Rosendin Electric has been named to the InformationWeek 500 for its groundbreaking use of Information Technology in the construction industry.

This year, InformationWeek recognized Rosendin Electric for its innovative integration of wireless technology, consumer devices, and cloud services to improve productivity on the job site. Rather than carrying the volumes of paper previously required, field employees now use iPads to check drawings, 3D models, and job specifications. Using mobile devices streamlines on-site processes and allows for constant, real-time communication with the entire project team. This approach increases QA/QC inspection accuracy and substantially reduces the time to identify and resolve any design and installation issues. Rosendin Electric has also harnessed the same technology to streamline procurement. Large shipments from suppliers or the company’s prefabrication location can now be tracked using QR and bar codes, saving time and resources.

“Applying consumer and mobile technology to bring greater efficiencies to electrical design and construction gives us a competitive edge,” said Sam Lamonica, CIO of Rosendin Electric. “We have the advantage of being able to draw from the expertise of one of the best IT teams in the business, and our executive leadership understands the return that can be derived by investing in the right technology. The fact that we have received this honor from InformationWeek for three years running is a testament to Rosendin Electric’s commitment to innovation.”

In past years, InformationWeek has recognized Rosendin Electric for its new EDI platform to automate manual materials ordering and processing purchase orders and invoices, substituting paper processes with e-processes, resulting in time and cost savings. Further recognition was received for being one of the first companies to migrate from a two-dimensional to a three-dimensional interactive BIM/CAD modeling system.

“The theme of this year’s InformationWeek 500 is digital business. It’s a movement, rooted in data analytics, mobile computing, social networking and other customer-focused technologies that are turning companies and industries on their ear,” said InformationWeek Editor In Chief Rob Preston. “Every enterprise is now a digital business – or needs to become one fast. The organizations in our ranking are leading the way.”

InformationWeek identifies and honors the nation’s most innovative users of information technology with its annual InformationWeek 500 listing, and also tracks the technology, strategies, investments, and administrative practices of some of the best-known organizations in the country.

Rosendin Electric Receives Top 2013 National and Regional Safety Honors from The Associated General Contractors of America

Outstanding Safety Practices Garners Rosendin Electric National AGC/Willis Construction Safety Excellence Award and Regional Safety Awards in Oregon and California.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (July 22, 2013) — Rosendin Electric, the nation’s largest private electrical contractor and an employee-owned company, has received top honors in safety from the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America, including the National 2013 AGC/Willis Construction Safety Excellence Award and regional safety awards for the Oregon and California offices.

Rosendin Electric was awarded the First Place National 2013 AGC/Willis Construction Safety Excellence Award, Specialty Division, for contractors with more than one million hours worked. The Award was created to recognize companies that have developed outstanding safety and loss prevention programs through a combination of management commitment, employee involvement, and program innovation.

Rosendin Electric received this award for its safety record and company-wide safety culture that empowers every employee to promote on-the-job safety. For example, the company issues “Stop Work” cards that can be used by any employee to promote safety on the job site. A “no-knife” policy has also been established, requiring all employees, office and field, to use only safe tools to minimize accidents. Furthermore, Rosendin Electric requires every Apprentice to maintain a safety portfolio, so Journeymen can track their equipment and procedures training. Safety is also a key part of Rosendin Electric project planning, and all field safety personnel are equipped with tablet computers so they have access to safety performance data and can identify potentially high-risk procedures.

In addition to the National Award, the AGC Oregon-Columbia Chapter has recognized Rosendin Electric’s Hillsboro, Oregon, office with a Recognition of Safety Excellence (ROSE) Award in the Specialty Division, more than one million man hours worked. The ROSE Award is presented by AGC area contractors to recognize their peers for best safety practices. Rosendin Electric was singled out for its passion and commitment to safety, and the empowerment given to employees when it comes to addressing safety issues.

Rosendin Electric also received a 2012 Safety Award of Excellence in the Specialty Division category for contractors with more than one million worker hours from the California AGC Chapter. This marks the seventh year in a row that Rosendin Electric has received recognition from the AGC California Chapter for its safety record.

“Every Rosendin Electric employee understands that safety is part of their job responsibility,” said Marty Rouse, Vice President of Safety for Rosendin Electric. “We have always prided ourselves on maintaining a corporate culture centered on safety. The fact that we have garnered three AGC awards in a single year, including the top award for safety in the Specialty Division, is a welcome acknowledgement of our ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe workplace.”

Rosendin Electric Receives 2012 DBIA National Design-Build Award

Design-Build Institute of America Recognizes the Rosendin Electric and Hoffman Construction Design-Build Team for Work on the New Armed Forces Reserve Center at Camp Withycombe.

SAN JOSE, Calif. and HILLSBORO, Ore. (November 29, 2012) — Rosendin Electric, the nation’s largest private electrical contractor and a 100% employee-owned company, has received a 2012 National Design-Build Award in the Civic category from the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) in recognition of support given to Hoffman Construction for the electrical design and construction of the new Camp Withycombe Armed Forces Reserve Center in Clackamas County, Oregon. In previous years, Rosendin Electric has been recognized for work on the Mineta San Jose International Airport, the Nogales International Wastewater Treatment Plant, and the Alameda County Juvenile Justice Center, amongst other high-profile projects.

Best practices include bringing together key team members during the proposal process, as well as close coordination between design and construction team members from the design development stage through field construction and project completion.

The $72 million, LEED® Gold project was a new 250,000 square-foot Armed Forces Reserve Center, including 35,000 square-feet of vehicle storage and maintenance space, designed to support more than 1,300 soldiers in the Oregon National Guard and U.S. Army Reserve. The project included office suites, an assembly hall, conference and training rooms, a 400-seat auditorium, and electronic and static displays of military artifacts and campaign history to honor the soldiers of the 41st Infantry.

“This year’s award for our work at Camp Withycombe is an honor and a testament to our design-build excellence which extends to all of our regional operations and projects,” said Brian Ruffner, Business Development Manager for Rosendin Electric’s Oregon office in Hillsboro.
